Bharata and Satrughna at Kekaya (gacchateti) 2.1.1-4

The events of Rama’s incarnation and his marriage, etc have been described in Balakanda. The poet now proceeds to work out Rama’s consecration as a prince regent. On father’s advice, Bharata had left for his maternal uncle’s home with Satrughna, the destroyer of enemies in the form of attraction (raga) and repulsion (dvesa).


Glorious virtues of Rama 2.1.9-33

The scriptures rightly asserts: “A king shines in this world and the next, when he distributes his money for (1) dharma, (2) celebrity, (3) earning more money, (4) himself, and (5) his relatives.”
