Appearing as though the king was doing wrong Kaikeyi spoke to the king. “O King, why do you lie on the ground in dejection with your reasoning lost? I remind you of keeping the oath. It befits your family. Lord, satya is the essence of dharma. Satya alone originates in the Vedas and the Vedas preach satya. The word Pranava, or the monosyllabic ‘Om’ also represents truth. To put it in brief, dharma is founded on satya. According to sruti, the ultimate truth is the highest piety.”
Kaikeyi, thus, urged upon the king to follow the path of truth and grant the boons. With no scruple in mind, Kaikeyi intended indeed to do good to her husband.
