Dasaratha is destined to leave for the other world after Rama’s departure. The final union of both father and son would take place in the world of Saketa. However, prior to the end of exile, Rama would bow to the king’s sacred sandals.
“My dear son, go and destroy your enemy. That may bring benevolence to the onlookers also. Bestow the kingdom (of Lanka) upon someone else, and return happily.
“Rama, Kaikeyi is brilliant like spark of fire covered with ashes. Endowed with guileless behaviour befitting the Manu-lineage, she has reminded me of the Brahman’s appeal to you. She has inspired me to induce you to go into exile. Of course, your separation torments me” says the king.
