Trisira asks Khara to command him to kill Rama 3.27.1-5

The real meaning of these four and a half slokas, commencing with mam niyojaya, is “O Khara, see Rama and our army felled by him. So do not move in haste. Appoint me for the job. Are you going to kill him? I know Rama, the killer of all rakshasas, in his true form. So I take up all weapons with the intention of killing him. If Rama cannot be killed, what is the use of this?” To this question Khara replies saying, “I may be the cause of Rama’s death in this battle, or Rama will be the cause of my death. So, now stop your hasty action and become the umpire of the victory and defeat for a moment. If Rama remains alive and I am killed, you should be glad and get ready for fighting your self. Or, you may go to Janasthana.”
