Angulya yojayamasa: Hanuman fixed the crest jewel Chudamani given by Sita moving his finger in the space of the jewel in order to put it on his head. The commentator poses a question. ‘Is it not appropriate that he should have put it on his arm as he had taken a minute form? His arm was very small as he was extremely diminutive in size, so it could not enter his arm.
The commentator refers to Tirtha’s view here saying ‘Since wearing it was forbidden for it was given out of devotion and devotion can be shown while remaining in subtle form Hanuman remained in his subtle form only giving up magnified form’.
Kataka however gives a different interpretation. He says that Hanuman fixed it on his finger. The purport is, ‘he tied tightly (the crest jewel) on his finger on which he had rolled subtle cloth. His shoulder was unsuitable to wear it because it gets revealed (If he wore on his shoulder) and it had to be concealed’.
