The commentator refers to Kataka’s view that even though Sita saw the monkey she had put up a pleasant and fearless appearance. On seeing the monkey the demons guessed that she must have known the monkey and also that the monkey must have arrived in order to collect information about her and therefore was engaged in conversation with her. On account of this the demons asked her about the monkey.
