Kausalya blames Bharata 2.75.11-16

Visnu is known as a god with ‘a golden navel’ from which Brahma sprang up. Rama is a human incarnation of Visnu, come down to achieve the job of gods. Kausalya being the seniormost of the wives, is expected to keep and worship the sacred fire on the death of her husband as Dasaratha forbade Bharata from doing the obsequies if Bharata also follows the path of Kaikeyi. Kausalya decides to take the sacred fire (agnihotra) to Rama and Lakshmana on her head followed by Sumitra. “I shall myself proceed happily along the route by which Rama went to the forest. Or, I seek your cooperation in leading me personally to the forest where my son is practising asceticism. Your mother, Kaikeyi, has secured the sovereignty of this vast and rich kingdom for you. Enjoy it.”
