People are righteous if the king is righteous 1.6.1-22
These verses suggest that when the king takes care of his subjects in a righteous manner, people also become righteous. The king, too, experiences a sense of material and spiritual fulfilment. “Like the king, like the subjects”. Dasaratha who was pre-eminently righteous had, therefore, righteous family priests.
