[Rama and Sita observe the prescribed rites--rejoiced citizens of Ayodhya express their gratitude to the king--people from villages arrive in multitudes.]

ಗತೇ ಪುರೋಹಿತೇ ರಾಮಃ ಸ್ನಾತೋ ನಿಯತಮಾನಸಃ.

ಸಹ ಪತ್ನ್ಯಾ ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಾ ನಾರಾಯಣಮುಪಾಗಮತ್৷৷2.6.1৷৷


ಪುರೋಹಿತೇ the family priest, ಗತೇ (ಸತಿ) having gone, ರಾಮಃ Rama, ಸ್ನಾತಃ bathed, ನಿಯತಮಾನಸಃ with mind under control, ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಾ large-eyed (large eyes are marks of beauty), ಪತ್ನ್ಯಾ ಸಹ with (his) wife, ನಾರಾಯಣಮ್ to (lord) Narayana, ಉಪಾಗಮತ್ approached.

With the family priest (Vasistha) gone, Rama had his bath, and with his mind under control came to Lord Narayana along with his large-eyed consort, Sita. (with an intention to worship him)
ಪ್ರಗೃಹ್ಯ ಶಿರಸಾ ಪಾತ್ರೀಂ ಹವಿಷೋ ವಿಧಿವತ್ತದಾ.

ಮಹತೇ ದೈವತಾಯಾಜ್ಯಂ ಜುಹಾವ ಜ್ವಲಿತೇನಲೇ৷৷2.6.2৷৷


ತದಾ then, ಹವಿಷಃ of havis (clarified butter and other oblations), ಪಾತ್ರೀಮ್ a small vessel where in offerings are put, ವಿಧಿವತ್ in accordance with ritual practices, ಶಿರಸಾ on the head, ಪ್ರಗೃಹ್ಯ having held, ಜ್ವಲಿತೇನಲೇ in flaming (sacred) fire, ಮಹತೇ great, ದೈವತಾಯ for great
divinity (Visnu), ಆಜ್ಯಮ್ clarified butter, ಜುಹಾವ offered oblations.

Then holding the vessel containing havis on his head, he offered the oblations of clarified butter into the sacred fire for Visnu in accordance with ritual practices.
ಶೇಷಂ ಚ ಹವಿಷಸ್ತಸ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಶ್ಯಾಶಾಸ್ಯಾತ್ಮನಃ ಪ್ರಿಯಮ್.

ಧ್ಯಾಯನ್ನಾರಾಯಣಂ ದೇವಂ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ತೀರ್ಣೇ ಕುಶಸಂಸ್ತರೇ৷৷2.6.3৷৷

ವಾಗ್ಯತ ಸ್ಸಹ ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾ ಭೂತ್ವಾ ನಿಯತಮಾನಸಃ.

ಶ್ರೀಮತ್ಯಾಯತನೇ ವಿಷ್ಣೋ ಶ್ಶಿಶ್ಯೇ ನರವರಾತ್ಮಜಃ৷৷2.6.4৷৷


ನರವರಾತ್ಮಜಃ son of the king (Rama), ಆತ್ಮನಃ of his own, ಪ್ರಿಯಮ್ welfare, ಆಶಾಸ್ಯ seeking, ತಸ್ಯ ಹವಿಷಃ of that havis, ಶೇಷಂ the remainder, ಪ್ರಾಶ್ಯ ಚ having partaken, ದೇವಮ್ ನಾರಾಯಣಮ್ God Narayana, ಧ್ಯಾಯನ್ meditating upon, ವಾಗ್ಯತಃ ಭೂತ್ವಾ adopting silence, ನಿಯತಮಾನಸಃ with restrained mind, ವಿಷ್ಣೋಃ Visnu's, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ (at the) auspicious, ಆಯತನೇ in the temple, ಸ್ವಾಸ್ತೀರ್ಣೇ with well-spread, ಕುಶಸಂಸ್ತರೇ in the bed of kusha grass, ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾ ಸಹ along with Vaidehi (Sita), ಶಿಶ್ಯೇ slept.

The son of the king (Rama) partook the remainder of the havis seeking his own welfare. With a restrained mind and a vow of silence, he meditated upon Lord Narayana and slept along with Vaidehi on a well-spread bed of kusha grass in the auspicious temple of lord Visnu.
ಏಕಯಾಮಾವಶಿಷ್ಟಾಯಾಂ ರಾತ್ರ್ಯಾಂ ಪ್ರತಿವಿಬುದ್ಧ್ಯ ಸಃ.

ಅಲಙ್ಕಾರವಿಧಿಂ ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಂ ಕಾರಯಾಮಾಸ ವೇಶ್ಮನಃ৷৷2.6.5৷৷


ಸಃ he, ರಾತ್ರ್ಯಾಮ್ at night, ಏಕಯಾಮಾವಶಿಷ್ಟಾಯಾಮ್ with one yama (measure of time equivalent to four hours) left, ಪ್ರತಿವಿಬುದ್ಧ್ಯ having awakened, ವೇಶ್ಮನಃ dwelling's, ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಮ್ entire, ಅಲಙ್ಕಾರವಿಧಿಮ್ decoration, ಕಾರಯಾಮಾಸ got it done.

He got up (Rama) with one yama (three hours) of the night still left, and had his entire residence decorated.
ತತ್ರ ಶ್ರೃಣ್ವನ್ಸುಖಾ ವಾಚ ಸ್ಸೂತಮಾಗಧವನ್ದಿನಾಮ್.

ಪೂರ್ವಾಂ ಸಧ್ಯಾಮುಪಾಸೀನೋ ಜಜಾಪ ಯತಮಾನಸಃ৷৷2.6.6৷৷


ತತ್ರ there (in the last watch of the night), ಸೂತಮಾಗಧವನ್ದಿನಾಮ್ of bards and panegyrists, ಸುಖಾಃ pleasant, ವಾಚಃ words, ಶ್ರೃಣ್ವನ್ listening, ಪೂರ್ವಾಂ ಸನ್ಧ್ಯಾಮ್ early morning rites, ಉಪಾಸೀನಃ had attended, ಯತಮಾನಸಃ with controlled mind, ಜಜಾಪ chanted (Gayatri).

Then (in the last watch of the night) hearing the pleasant words of bards and panegyrists he attended to early morning rites and intoned Gayatri with a
concentrated mind.
ತುಷ್ಟಾವ ಪ್ರಣತಶ್ಚೈವ ಶಿರಸಾ ಮಧುಸೂದನಮ್.

ವಿಮಲಕ್ಷೌಮಸಂವೀತೋ ವಾಚಯಾಮಾಸ ಸ ದ್ವಿಜಾನ್৷৷2.6.7৷৷


ಶಿರಸಾ with head, ಪ್ರಣತ: bowed low, ಮಧುಸೂದನಮ್ Lord Visnu, ತುಷ್ಟಾವ extoled, ವಿಮಲಕ್ಷೌಮಸಂವೀತಃ dressed in spotless silk garments, ದ್ವಿಜಾನ್ to brahmins, ವಾಚಯಾಮಾಸ got the purificatory mantras recited.

Clad in spotless silk garments, he extoled Lord Madhusudana (Visnu) with his head bowed low. He listened to the purificatory mantras recited by brahmins.
ತೇಷಾಂ ಪುಣ್ಯಾಹಘೋಷೋಥ ಗಮ್ಭೀರಮಧುರಸ್ತದಾ.

ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾಂ ಪೂರಯಾಮಾಸ ತೂರ್ಯಘೋಷಾನುನಾದಿತಃ৷৷2.6.8৷৷


ಅಥ then, ತೇಷಾಮ್ their, ಗಮ್ಭೀರಮಧುರಃ deep and sweet, ಪುಣ್ಯಾಹಘೋಷಃ proclamations of 'this is an auspicious day', ತೂರ್ಯಘೋಷಾನುನಾದಿತಃ reverberating with the sounds of trumpets, ತದಾ then, ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾಮ್ (the city of) Ayodhya, ಪೂರಯಾಮಾಸ filled.

And then the deep and sweet proclamations of 'This is an auspicious day' mingled with the sounds of trumpets reverberated (the city of) Ayodhya.
ಕೃತೋಪವಾಸಂ ತು ತದಾ ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾ ಸಹ ರಾಘವಮ್.

ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾನಿಲಯಶ್ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸರ್ವಃ ಪ್ರಮುದಿತೋ ಜನಃ৷৷2.6.9৷৷


ತದಾ then, ರಾಘವಮ್ to the scion of the Raghus (Rama), ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾ ಸಹ along with the princess of Videha, (Sita), ಕೃತೋಪವಾಸಮ್ had undertaken the fast, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ having heard, ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾನಿಲಯಃ residents of Ayodhya, ಸರ್ವಃ all, ಜನಃ men, ಪ್ರಮುದಿತಃ rejoiced.

The residents of Ayodhya were happy to hear that the scion of the Raghus (Rama) along with princess of Videha (Sita) had undertaken the fast.
ತತಃ ಪೌರಜನಸ್ಸರ್ವಶ್ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಚನಮ್.

ಪ್ರಭಾತಾಂ ರಜನೀಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಚಕ್ರೇ ಶೋಭಯಿತುಂ ಪುರೀಮ್৷৷2.6.10৷৷


ತತಃ afterwards, ಸರ್ವಃ all, ಪೌರಜನಃ citizens, ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಚನಮ್ consecration of Rama, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ having heard, ರಜನೀಮ್ the night, ಪ್ರಭಾತಾಮ್ brightened into dawn, ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ having seen, ಪುರೀಮ್ the city, ಶೋಭಯಿತುಮ್ to decorate, ಚಕ್ರೇ made (commenced).

Having heard about the coronation of Rama, all the citizens began to decorate the city soon after daybreak.
ಸಿತಾಭ್ರಶಿಖರಾಭೇಷು ದೇವತಾಯತನೇಷು ಚ.

ಚತುಷ್ಪಥೇಷು ರಥ್ಯಾಸು ಚೈತ್ಯೇಷ್ವಟ್ಟಾಲಕೇಷು ಚ৷৷2.6.11৷৷

ನಾನಾಪಣ್ಯಸಮೃದ್ಧೇಷು ವಣಿಜಾಮಾಪಣೇಷು ಚ.

ಕುಟುಮ್ಬಿನಾಂ ಸಮೃದ್ಧೇಷು ಶ್ರೀಮತ್ಸು ಭವನೇಷು ಚ৷৷2.6.12৷৷

ಸಭಾಸು ಚೈವ ಸರ್ವಾಸು ವೃಕ್ಷೇಷ್ವಾಲಕ್ಷಿತೇಷು ಚ.

ಧ್ವಜಾ ಸ್ಸಮುಚ್ಛ್ರಿತಾಶ್ಚಿತ್ರಾಃ ಪತಾಕಾಶ್ಚಾಭವಂಸ್ತದಾ৷৷2.6.13৷৷


ಸಿತಾಭ್ರಶಿಖರಾಭೇಷು among those bright peaks wreathed by a mass of white clouds,
ದೇವತಾಯತನೇಷು in the temples, ಚತುಷ್ಪಥೇಷು at the cross-roads, ರಥ್ಯಾಸು on the thoroughfares, ಚೈತ್ಯೇಷು on the tall trees dotting the avenues, ಅಟ್ಟಾಲಕೇಷು ಚ on the towers too, ನಾನಾಪಣ್ಯಸಮೃದ್ಧೇಷು abounding in various kinds of merchandise, ವಣಿಜಾಮ್ of merchants, ಆಪಣೇಷು ಚ in the stalls also, ಕುಟುಮ್ಬಿನಾಮ್ of householders, ಸಮೃದ್ಧೇಷು in prosperous (places), ಶ್ರೀಮತ್ಸು in graceful, ಭವನೇಷು ಚ in the houses, ಸರ್ವಾಸು in all, ಸಭಾಸು public halls, ಆಲಕ್ಷಿತೇಷು seen from distances, ವೃಕ್ಷೇಷು on the trees, ತದಾ then, ಧ್ವಜಾಃ banners, ಚಿತ್ರಾಃ varying colours, ಪತಾಕಾಃ ಚ flags, too, ಸಮುಚ್ಛ್ರಿಚಿತಾಃ were erected ಅಭವನ್ became.

Banners of varying colours and flags were raised on the temples looking resplendent like peaks wreathed by a mass of white clouds, at the cross-roads, on the thoroughfares, on the trees standing on avenues, on the towers and stalls of the merchants abounding in various kinds of merchandise, on prosperous and graceful
houses of house-holders, in all public halls and on trees looking tall from a distance.
ನಟನರ್ತಕಸಙ್ಘಾನಾಂ ಗಾಯಕಾನಾಂ ಚ ಗಾಯತಾಮ್.

ಮನಃ ಕರ್ಣಸುಖಾ ವಾಚ ಶ್ಶುಶೃವುಶ್ಚ ತತಸ್ತತಃ৷৷2.6.14৷৷


ತತಸ್ತತಃ here and there, ನಟನರ್ತಕಸಙ್ಘಾನಾಮ್ of troupes of actors and dancers, ಗಾಯತಾಮ್ of singers, ಗಾಯಕಾನಾಂ ಚ also of songsters, ಮನಃ ಕರ್ಣಸುಖಾಃ pleasing to the mind and ears, ವಾಚಃ words, ಶುಶ್ರುವುಃ heard.

Troupes of actors and dancers entertained the people with songs pleasing to the mind and ears and their utterances were heard here and there.
ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಕಯುಕ್ತಾಶ್ಚ ಕಥಾಶ್ಚಕ್ರುರ್ಮಿಥೋ ಜನಾಃ.

ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಕೇ ಸಮ್ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೇ ಚತ್ವರೇಷು ಗೃಹೇಷು ಚ৷৷2.6.15৷৷


ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಕೇ as the coronation of Rama, ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೇ approached, ಜನಾ: the people, ಚತ್ವರೇಷು at the public squares, ಗೃಹೇಷು ಚ in the private houses, ಮಿಥಃ with one another, ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಕಯುಕ್ತಾಃ concerning Rama's coronation, ಕಥಾಃ talk, ಚಕ್ರುಃ made.

As the time for Rama's coronation was approaching, men in public squares and in private houses talked with one another about the consecration of Rama.
ಬಾಲಾ ಅಪಿ ಕ್ರೀಡಮಾನಾ ಗೃಹದ್ವಾರೇಷು ಸಙ್ಘಶಃ.

ರಾಮಾಭಿಷವಸಂಯುಕ್ತಾಶ್ಚಕ್ರುರೇವಂ ಮಿಥಃ ಕಥಾಃ৷৷2.6.16৷৷


ಏವಮ್ thus, ಗೃಹದ್ವಾರೇಷು in the doorways, ಸಙ್ಘಶಃ in groups, ಕ್ರೀಡಮಾನಾಃ playing, ಬಾಲಾಃ ಅಪಿ children also, ಮಿಥಃ with each other, ರಾಮಾಭಿಷವಸಂಯುಕ್ತಾಃ relating to the coronation of Rama, ಕಥಾಃ stories, ಚಕ್ರುಃ made.

Similarly children playing in groups in front of the houses also related to each other stories regarding the coronation of Rama.
ಕೃತಪುಷ್ಪೋಪಹಾರಶ್ಚ ಧೂಪಗನ್ಧಾಧಿವಾಸಿತಃ.

ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗಃ ಕೃತಃ ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ಪೌರೈ ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಚನೇ৷৷2.6.17৷৷


ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಚನೇ on the occasion of Rama's coronation, ಪೌರೈಃ by citizens, ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗಃ highways, ಕೃತಪುಷ್ಪೋಪಹಾರಶ್ಚ strewn with flowers , ಧೂಪಗನ್ಧಾಧಿವಾಸಿತಃ fragrant with incense, ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ glorious, ಕೃತಃ made.

On the occasion of Rama's coronation the highway, strewn with flowers and rendered fragrant with the burning of incense by the citizens looked glorious.
ಪ್ರಕಾಶಕರಣಾರ್ಥಂ ಚ ನಿಶಾಗಮನಶಙ್ಕಯಾ.

ದೀಪವೃಕ್ಷಾಂ ಸ್ತಥಾ ಚಕ್ರುರನು ರಥ್ಯಾಸು ಸರ್ವಶಃ৷৷2.6.18৷৷


ತಥಾ so also, ಅನು connected with if, ನಿಶಾಗಮನಶಙ್ಕಯಾ lest night should fall, ಪ್ರಕಾಶಕರಣಾರ್ಥಮ್ to light it up, ರಥ್ಯಾಸು in the streets, ಸರ್ವಶಃ all over, ದೀಪವೃಕ್ಷಾನ್ lamps in the shape of trees, ಚಕ್ರುಃ improvised.

In the same way lest night should fall (by the time the installation ceremony was completed), the streets were provided with lamps in the shape of trees to light them up.
ಅಲಙ್ಕಾರಂ ಪುರಸ್ಯೈವಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ತತ್ಪುರವಾಸಿನಃ.

ಆಕಾಙ್ಕ್ಷಮಾಣಾ ರಾಮಸ್ಯ ಯೌವರಾಜ್ಯಾಭಿಷೇಚನಮ್৷৷2.6.19৷৷

ಸಮೇತ್ಯ ಸಙ್ಘಶಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ಚತ್ವರೇಷು ಸಭಾಸು ಚ.

ಕಥಯನ್ತೋ ಮಿಥಸ್ತತ್ರ ಪ್ರಶಶಂಸುರ್ಜನಾಧಿಪಮ್৷৷2.6.20৷৷


ತತ್ಪುರವಾಸಿನಃ inhabitants of the city, ಸರ್ವೇ all of them, ಏವಮ್ thus, ಪುರಸ್ಯ city's, ಅಲಙ್ಕಾರಮ್ decoration, ಕೃತ್ವಾ having made, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ಯೌವರಾಜ್ಯಾಭಿಷೇಚನಮ್ coronation as heir-apparent, ಆಕಾಙ್ಕ್ಷಮಾಣಾಃ eagerly desiring, ಚತ್ವರೇಷು at the public squares, ಸಭಾಸು ಚ in the assembly halls, ಸಙ್ಘಶಃ in groups, ಸಮೇತ್ಯ having assembled, ತತ್ರ there, ಮಿಥಃ mutually,
ಕಥಯನ್ತಃ conversing, ಜನಾಧಿಪಮ್ to the lord of men (Dasaratha), ಪ್ರಶಶಂಸುಃ praised.

Thus the residents of Ayodhya decorated the city and eagerly waited for Rama's cornonation as heir-apparent. Gathered in groups at public squares and in the assembly halls they conversed among themselves about the event, praising Dasaratha, the lord among men.
ಅಹೋ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ರಾಜಾಯಮಿಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕುಕುಲನನ್ದನಃ.

ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ ಯೋ ವೃದ್ಧಮಾತ್ಮಾನಂ ರಾಮಂ ರಾಜ್ಯೇಭಿಷೇಕ್ಷ್ಯತಿ৷৷2.6.21৷৷


ಯಃ that king, ಆತ್ಮಾನಮ್ himself, ವೃದ್ಧಮ್ aged, ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ having realised, ರಾಮಮ್ to Rama, ರಾಜ್ಯೇ in the kingdom, ಅಭಿಷೇಕ್ಷ್ಯತಿ is going to install, ಅಯಮ್ this, ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕುಕುಲನನ್ದನಃ causing delight to the Ikshvaku race, ರಾಜಾ king , ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ high-souled, ಅಹೋ oh!.

Oh! having realised that he himself has grown old the high-souled king Dasaratha the veritable delight to the Ikshvaku race, is going to coronate Rama in the kingdom.
ಸರ್ವೇಪ್ಯನುಗೃಹೀತಾ ಸ್ಮೋ ಯನ್ನೋ ರಾಮೋ ಮಹೀಪತಿಃ.

ಚಿರಾಯ ಭವಿತಾ ಗೋಪ್ತಾ ದೃಷ್ಟಲೋಕಪರಾವರಃ৷৷2.6.22৷৷


ಯತ್ indeed, ದೃಷ್ಟಲೋಕಪರಾವರಃ who has seen the world's high and low, ರಾಮಃ Rama, ಮಹೀಪತಿಃ as king, ಚಿರಾಯ for a long time, ನಃ for us, ಗೋಪ್ತಾ protector, ಭವಿತಾ shall become, ಸರ್ವೇಪಿ all of us, ಅನುಗೃಹೀತಾಃ ಸ್ಮ are favoured.

All of us are fortunate indeed that Rama who knows the world's high and low shall be our king, protector for a long time.
ಅನುದ್ಧತಮನಾಃ ವಿದ್ವಾನ್ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ಭ್ರಾತೃವತ್ಸಲಃ.

ಯಥಾ ಚ ಭ್ರಾತೃಷು ಸ್ನಿಗ್ಧಸ್ತಥಾಸ್ಮಾಸ್ವಪಿ ರಾಘವಃ৷৷2.6.23৷৷


ಅನುದ್ಧತಮನಾಃ one who is not arrogant, ವಿದ್ವಾನ್ learned, ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ a pious soul, ಭ್ರಾತೃವತ್ಸಲಃ affectionate towards his brothers, ರಾಘವಃ scion of the Raghus (Rama), ಭ್ರಾತೃಷು in brothers,
ಯಥಾ like, ಸ್ನಿಗ್ಧಃ friendly, ಅಸ್ಮಾಸ್ವಪಿ even in us, ತಥಾ in that manner.

This scion of the Raghus (Rama) is free from arrogance, is learned, righteous and affectionate towards his brothers as much as towards us.
ಚಿರಂ ಜೀವತು ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ರಾಜಾ ದಶರಥೋನಘಃ.

ಯತ್ಪ್ರಸಾದೋನಭಿಷಿಕ್ತಂ ತು ರಾಮಂ ದ್ರಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಹೇ ವಯಮ್৷৷2.6.24৷৷


ಯತ್ಪ್ರಸಾದೇನ by whose grace, ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತಮ್ having been coronated, ರಾಮಮ್ of Rama, ದ್ರಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಹೇ we are beholding, ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ virtuous, ಅನಘಃ sinless, ದಶರಥಃ ರಾಜಾ king Dasaratha, ಚಿರಮ್ for long, ಜೀವತು let live.

May the virtuous and sinless king Dasaratha live long by whose grace we are beholding (going to behold) Rama's coronation.
ಏವಂವಿಧಂ ಕಥಯತಾಂ ಪೌರಾಣಾಂ ಶುಶ್ರುವು ಸ್ತದಾ.

ದಿಗ್ಭ್ಯೋಪಿ ಶ್ರುತವೃತ್ತಾನ್ತಾ: ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾ ಜಾನಪದಾ ಜನಾಃ৷৷2.6.25৷৷


ಶ್ರುತವೃತ್ತಾನ್ತಾಃ having heard the story, ದಿಗ್ಭ್ಯಃ ಅಪಿ from all quarters also, ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ had arrived, ಜಾನಪದಾಃ ಜನಾಃ village folk, ತದಾ then, ಏವಂ ವಿಧಮ್ in this manner, ಪೌರಾಣಾಮ್ of citizens, ಕಥಯತಾಮ್ while conversing, ಶುಶ್ರುವುಃ heard.

Having heard about the coronation of Rama, villagers arrived from all directions and
listened to the citizens conversing in this manner.
ತೇ ತು ದಿಗ್ಭ್ಯಃ ಪುರೀಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಂ ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಚನಮ್.

ರಾಮಾಭಿಷೇಚನಮ್ coronation of Rama, ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಮ್ to behold, ದಿಗ್ಭ್ಯಃ from different directions, ಪುರಮ್ the city, ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ have arrived, ತೇ those, ಜಾನಪದಾಃ villagers, ಜನಾಃ men, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ಪುರೀಮ್ city, ಪೂರಯಾಮಾಸುಃ filled.

The city was filled with villagers coming from different directions to behold Rama's coronation.
ಜನೌಘೈಸ್ತೈರ್ವಿಸರ್ಪದ್ಭಿಃ ಶುಶ್ರುವೇ ತತ್ರ ನಿಸ್ವನಃ.

ಪರ್ವಸೂದೀರ್ಣವೇಗಸ್ಯ ಸಾಗರಸ್ಯೇವ ನಿಸ್ವನಃ৷৷2.6.27৷৷


ವಿಸರ್ಪದ್ಭಿ: by those moving to and fro, ತೈಃ ಜನೌಘೈಃ by those multitudes of men, ತತ್ರ there, ನಿಸ್ವನಃ noise, ಪರ್ವಸು on the full and new moon days, ಉದೀರ್ಣವೇಗಸ್ಯ with violent speed, ಸಾಗರಸ್ಯ of the ocean, ನಿಸ್ವನಃ ಇವ like the sound, ಶುಶ್ರುವೇ was heard.

The multitudes of men moving to and fro gave rise to a noise like the roar of the ocean enhanced by the violent speed (of the wind) on the full and new moon days.
ತತಸ್ತದಿನ್ದ್ರಕ್ಷಯಸನ್ನಿಭಂ ಪುರಂ

ದಿದೃಕ್ಷುಭಿರ್ಜಾನಪದೈರುಪಾಗತೈಃ.

ಸಮನ್ತತ ಸ್ಸಸ್ವನಮಾಕುಲಂ ಬಭೌ

ಸಮುದ್ರಯಾದೋಭಿರಿವಾರ್ಣವೋದಕಮ್৷৷2.6.28৷৷


ದಿದೃಕ್ಷುಭಿಃ wishing to see, ಉಪಾಗತೈಃ arrived, ಜಾನಪದೈಃ villagers, ಸಮನ್ತತಃ every side, ಆಕುಲಮ್ crowded, ಸಸ್ವನಮ್ with sounds, ಇನ್ದ್ರಕ್ಷಯಸನ್ನಿಭಮ್ resembling the abode of Indra, ತತ್ that, ಪುರಮ್ city, ಸಮುದ್ರಯಾದೋಭಿಃ with aquatic animals, ಅರ್ಣವೋದಕಮ್ ಇವ like water of the ocean, ಬಭೌ shone.

The city (of Ayodhya), resembling the abode of Indra, (Amaravati) crowded with villagers from all over wishing to witness it (the coronation of Rama), grew noisy and sparkled like the water of the ocean teeming with aquatic animals.
ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾಕಾಣ್ಡೇ ಷಷ್ಠಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ৷৷
Thus ends the sixth sarga of Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
