[Messengers from Ayodhya arrive as Bharata was describing his nightmare to his friends --- the message of Vasistha is conveyed to Bharata to hurry back to Ayodhya --- departure of Bharata and Satrughna to Ayodhya.]

ಭರತೇ ಬ್ರುವತಿ ಸ್ವಪ್ನಂ ದೂತಾಸ್ತೇ ಕ್ಲಾನ್ತವಾಹನಾಃ.

ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯಾಸಹ್ಯಪರಿಖಂ ರಮ್ಯಂ ರಾಜಗೃಹಂ ಪುರಮ್৷৷2.70.1৷৷

ಸಮಾಗಮ್ಯ ತು ರಾಜ್ಞಾ ಚ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರೇಣ ಚಾರ್ಚಿತಾಃ

ಭರತೇ Bharata, ಸ್ವಪ್ನಂ about the dream, ಬ್ರುವತಿ while relating, ಕ್ಲಾನ್ತವಾಹನಾ: men with their vehicles (horses) weary, ದೂತಾಃ messengers, ಅಸಹ್ಯಪರಿಖಮ್ impassable moat, ರಮ್ಯಮ್ lovely, ರಾಜಗೃಹಮ್ Rajagriha, ಪುರಮ್ city, ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ having entered, ರಾಜ್ಞಾ ಚ with Kekaya king, ರಾಜಪುತ್ರೇಣ with king's son, Yuddhajit, ಸಮಾಗಮ್ಯ having met, ಅರ್ಚಿತಾಃ were honoured, ರಾಜ್ಞಃ king's,ಪಾದೌ feet, ಗೃಹೀತ್ವಾ having touched with reverence, ತಂ ಭರತಮ್ addressing that Bharata, ವಚಃ words, ಊಚುಃ.told.

While Bharata was relating his dream, the mounted messengers (from Ayodhya) with their weary horses entered the lovely city of Rajagriha surrounded by an impassable moat. There they met the king of Kekaya country and his son, Yuddhajit and were received with honour. Touching the feet of the king with reverence, they said to Bharata:
ಭರತೇ ಬ್ರುವತಿ ಸ್ವಪ್ನಂ ದೂತಾಸ್ತೇ ಕ್ಲಾನ್ತವಾಹನಾಃ.

ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯಾಸಹ್ಯಪರಿಖಂ ರಮ್ಯಂ ರಾಜಗೃಹಂ ಪುರಮ್৷৷2.70.1৷৷

ತ್ವರಮಾಣಶ್ಚ ನಿರ್ಯಾಹಿ ಕೃತ್ಯಮಾತ್ಯಯಿಕಂ ತ್ವಯಾ৷৷2.70.3৷৷


ಪುರೋಹಿತಃ the family priest (Vasistha), ತ್ವಾಮ್ about your, ಕುಶಲಮ್ welfare, ಪ್ರಾಹ enquired, ಸರ್ವೇ all, ಮನ್ತ್ರಿಣಶ್ಚ counsellors also, ತ್ವರಮಾಣಃ ಚ immediately, ನಿರ್ಯಾಹಿ you may return, ತ್ವಯಾ by you, ಆತ್ಯಯಿಕಮ್ urgent matter, ಕೃತ್ಯಮ್ to be attended.

The family priest (Vasistha) and all the counsellors have enquired about your welfare. You must return immediately. There is an urgent matter to be attended by you.
ಇಮಾನಿ ಚ ಮಹಾರ್ಹಾಣಿ ವಸ್ತ್ರಾಣ್ಯಾಭರಣಾನಿ ಚ.

ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯ ವಿಶಾಲಕ್ಷ! ಮಾತುಲಸ್ಯ ಚ ದಾಪಯ৷৷2.70.4৷৷


ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷ large-eyed one, (Bharata), ಇಮಾನಿ these, ಮಹಾರ್ಹಾಣಿ precious, ವಸ್ತ್ರಾಣಿ raiments, ಆಭರಣಾನಿ ಚ ornaments, ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯ having accepted, ಮಾತುಲಸ್ಯ to your maternal uncle, ದಾಪಯ give, ವಿಶಾಲಾಕ್ಷ O large-eyed one (Bharata)

Oh large-eyed one (Bharata)! you are asked to take these excellent raiments and precious ornaments and bestow them on your maternal uncle (said the messengers).
ಅತ್ರ ವಿಶಂತಿಕೋಟ್ಯಸ್ತು ನೃಪತೇರ್ಮಾತುಲಸ್ಯ ತೇ.

ದಶಕೋಟ್ಯಸ್ತು ಸಮ್ಪೂರ್ಣಾಸ್ತಥೈವ ಚ ನೃಪಾತ್ಮಜ৷৷2.70.5৷৷


ನೃಪಾತ್ಮಜ O prince Bharata, ಅತ್ರ among this, ವಿಂಶತಿಕೋಟ್ಯಃ twenty crore, ನೃಪತೇಃ for the king, ತಥೈವ ಚ similarly, ಸಮ್ಪೂರ್ಣಾಃ complete, ದಶಕೋಟ್ಯಸ್ತು ten crores, ತೇ to your, ಮಾತುಲಸ್ಯ to be given to your maternal uncle.

O prince! these gifts worth twenty crore are intended for the king and the rest of the gifts worth ten crore for your maternal uncle.
ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯ ತು ತತ್ಸರ್ವಂ ಸ್ವನುರಕ್ತ ಸ್ಸುಹೃಜ್ಜನೇ.

ದೂತಾನುವಾಚ ಭರತಃ ಕಾಮೈಸ್ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಿಪೂಜ್ಯ ತಾನ್৷৷2.70.6৷৷


ಸುಹೃಜ್ಜನೇ the relatives and friends, ಸ್ವನುರಕ್ತಃ who is very affectionate, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ತತ್ that, ಸರ್ವಮ್ all, ಪ್ರತಿಗೃಹ್ಯ having received, ತಾನ್ ದೂತಾನ್ those messengers, ಕಾಮೈಃ what they liked, ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಿಪೂಜ್ಯ in return honouring them, ಉವಾಚ said.

Affectionate towards his relatives and friends, Bharata received all those gifts and in return honoured those messengers with things they liked, asking them:
ಕಚ್ಚಿತ್ಸುಕುಶಲೀ ರಾಜಾ ಪಿತಾ ದಶರಥೋ ಮಮ.

ಕಚ್ಚಿಚ್ಚಾರೋಗತಾ ರಾಮೇ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೇ ಚ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಿ৷৷2.70.7৷৷


ಮಮ ಪಿತಾ my father, ರಾಜಾ ದಶರಥಃ king Dasaratha, ಕಚ್ಚಿತ್ I hope, ಸಕುಶಲೀ doing well, ರಾಮೇ Rama, ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಿ great, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೇ ಚ in Lakshmana also, ಅರೋಗತಾ good health, ಕಚ್ಚಿತ್ I hope.

I hope my father, Dasaratha is doing well and revered Rama and Lakshmana are in good health!
ಆರ್ಯಾ ಚ ಧರ್ಮನಿರತಾ ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಾ ಧರ್ಮದರ್ಶಿನೀ.

ಅರೋಗಾ ಚಾಪಿ ಕೌಸಲ್ಯಾ ಮಾತಾ ರಾಮಸ್ಯ ಧೀಮತಃ৷৷2.70.8৷৷


ಆರ್ಯಾ ಚ venerable lady indeed, ಧರ್ಮನಿರತಾ devoted to righteousness, ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಾ adept in righteousness, ಧರ್ಮದರ್ಶಿನೀ observes the prescribed code of conduct, ಧೀಮತಃ sagacious, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ಮಾತಾ mother, ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಾ Kausalya, ಅಪಿ ಅರೋಗಾ is she keeping good health.

(I hope) Kausalya mother of the sagacious Rama the venerable lady devoted to righteousness one who knows the ways of righteousness and observes the prescribed code of conduct, is keeping sound health.
ಕಚ್ಚಿತ್ಸುಮಿತ್ರಾ ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಾ ಜನನೀ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಸ್ಯ ಯಾ.

ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನಸ್ಯ ಚ ವೀರಸ್ಯ ಸಾರೋಗಾ ಚಾಪಿ ಮಧ್ಯಮಾ৷৷2.70.9৷৷


ಯಾ that, ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಾ knowledgeable in the ways of righteousness, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಸ್ಯ Lakshmana's, ವೀರಸ್ಯ one who is full of valour, ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನಸ್ಯ ಚ Satrughna's, ಜನನೀ mother, ಮಧ್ಯಮಾ middle mother, ಸಾ ಸುಮಿತ್ರಾಪಿ that Sumitra, ಕಚ್ಚಿತ್ I hope, ಅರೋಗಾ is free from illness.

I hope my mother Sumitra (the middle one) who is familiar with the ways of righteousness, the mother of valiant Lakshmana and Satrughna, is enjoying good health.
ಆತ್ಮಕಾಮಾ ಸದಾ ಚಣ್ಡೀ ಕ್ರೋಧನಾ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞಮಾನಿನೀ.

ಅರೋಗಾ ಚಾಪಿ ಮೇ ಮಾತಾ ಕೈಕೇಯೀ ಕಿಮುವಾಚ ಹ৷৷2.70.10৷৷


ಆತ್ಮಕಾಮಾ ever intent on her welfare, ಸದಾ always, ಚಣ್ಡೀ irascible, ಕ್ರೋಧನಾ wrathful, ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞಮಾನಿನೀ who is proud of her intelligence, ಮೇ ಮಾತಾ my mother, ಕೈಕೇಯೀ Kaikeyi, ಅಪಿ ಅರೋಗಾ is she free from illness, ಕಿಮ್ what, ಉವಾಚ ಹ did she say?

And what about my mother Kaikeyi, ever intent on her own well-being, wrathful, irascible and proud of her intelligence? Is she maintaining sound health?
ಏವಮುಕ್ತಾಸ್ತು ತೇ ದೂತಾಃ ಭರತೇನ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ.

ಊಚುಸ್ಸಪ್ರಶ್ರಯಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಮಿದಂ ತಂ ಭರತಂ ತದಾ৷৷2.70.11৷৷


ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ magnanimous, ಭರತೇನ by Bharata, ಏವಮ್ in this way, ಉಕ್ತಾಃ uttered, ತೇ ದೂತಾಃ those messengers, ತದಾ then, ತಂ ಭರತಮ್ addressing that Bharata, ಸಪ್ರಶ್ರಯಮ್ respectfully, ಇದಂ these ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ (ವಚಃ) words, ಊಚುಃ spoke.

Having listened to the words of that magnanimous Bharata, those messengers addressed him gracefully with these words.
ಕುಶಲಾಸ್ತೇ ನರವ್ಯಾಘ್ರ! ಯೇಷಾಂ ಕುಶಲಮಿಚ್ಛಸಿ.

ಶ್ರೀಶ್ಚ ತ್ವಾಂ ವೃಣುತೇ ಪದ್ಮಾ ಯುಜ್ಯತಾಂ ಚಾಪಿ ತೇ ರಥಃ৷৷2.70.12৷৷


ನರವ್ಯಾಘ್ರ! tiger among men (Bharata), ಯೇಷಾಮ್ whose, ಕುಶಲಮ್ welfare, ಇಚ್ಛಸಿ you are enquiring, ತೇ they, ಕುಶಲಾಃ are doing well, ಶ್ರೀಃ prosperity, ಪದ್ಮಾ goddess of wealth, ತ್ವಾಮ್ you, ವೃಣುತೇ chosen you, ತೇ to you, ರಥಃ chariot, ಯುಜ್ಯತಾಂ ಚಾಪಿ may be yoked.

O tiger among men (Bharata)! those of whose welfare you are enquiring are all doing well. May the goddess of wealth and prosperity await you and let your chariot be yoked.
ಭರತಶ್ಚಾಪಿ ತಾನ್ ದೂತಾನೇವಮುಕ್ತೋಭ್ಯಭಾಷತ.

ಆಪೃಚ್ಚೇಹಂ ಮಹಾರಾಜಂ ದೂತಾಸ್ಸನ್ತ್ವರಯನ್ತಿ ಮಾಮ್৷৷2.70.13৷৷


ಏವಮ್ thus, ಉಕ್ತಃ uttered, ಭರತಶ್ಚಾಪಿ Bharata, ತಾನ್ ದೂತಾನ್ to those messengers, ಅಭ್ಯಭಾಷತ said, ಮಾಮ್ me, ದೂತಾಃ messengers, ಸನ್ತ್ವರಯನ್ತಿ are hastening me up, ಅಹಮ್ I, ಮಹಾರಾಜಮ್ great king (of Kekaya), ಆಪೃಚ್ಛೇ shall seek permission to leave.

Having thus been addressed, Bharata said to the messengers. Let me seek the permission of the great king of Kekaya to leave and say good-bye, informing him that the messengers are hastening me up.
ಏವಮುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ತು ತಾನ್ ದೂತಾನ್ಭರತಃ ಪಾರ್ಥಿವಾತ್ಮಜಃ.

ದೂತೈ ಸ್ಸಞ್ಚೋದಿತೋ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಮಾತಾಮಹಮುವಾಚ ಹ৷৷2.70.14৷৷


ದೂತೈಃ messengers, ಸಞ್ಚೋದಿತಃ having been pressed, ಪಾರ್ಥಿವಾತ್ಮಜಃ king's son, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ತಾನ್ ದೂತಾನ್ to those messengers, ಏವಮ್ in the aforesaid manner, ಉಕ್ತ್ವಾ having said, ಮಾತಾಮಹಮ್ addressing maternal grandfather, ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ these words, ಉವಾಚ ಹ said.

Having addressed the messengers who were pressing him to leave (for Ayodhya) Bharata said to his maternal grandfather:
ರಾಜನ್! ಪಿತುರ್ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಸಕಾಶಂ ದೂತಚೋದಿತಃ.

ಪುನರಪ್ಯಹಮೇಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಯದಾ ಮೇ ತ್ವಂ ಸ್ಮರಿಷ್ಯಸಿ৷৷2.70.15৷৷


ರಾಜನ್! O king!, ದೂತಚೋದಿತಃ urged by the messengers, ಪಿತುಃ father's, ಸಕಾಶಮ್ for, ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ I shall go, ತ್ವಮ್ you, ಮೇ for me, ಯದಾ whenever, ಸ್ಮರಿಷ್ಯಸಿ remember, ಪುನರಪಿ again, ಅಹಂ ಏಷ್ಯಾಮಿ I shall come.

O king, urged by these messengers I wish to go to my father. I shall come back again (from Ayodhya) whenever you remember me.
ಭರತೇನೈವಮುಕ್ತಸ್ತು ನೃಪೋ ಮಾತಾಮಹಸ್ತದಾ.

ತಮುವಾಚ ಶುಭಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಶಿರಸ್ಯಾಘ್ರಾಯ ರಾಘವಮ್৷৷2.70.16৷৷


ತದಾ then, ಭರತೇನ by Bharata, ಏವಮ್ thus, ಉಕ್ತಃ urged, ಮಾತಾಮಹಃ the maternal grandfather, ನೃಪಃ king (of Kekaya), ತಮ್ that, ರಾಘವಮ್ to one of Raghu dynasty (Bharata), ಶಿರಸಿ on his head, ಆಘ್ರಾಯ having smelt, ಶುಭಮ್ auspicious, ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ words, ಉವಾಚ spoke.

Then the king of Kekaya, the maternal grandfather of Bharata, having heard the words
of the scion of the Raghu dynasty (Bharata), kissed him on his forehead and spoke these auspicious words:
ಗಚ್ಛ ತಾತಾನುಜಾನೇ ತ್ವಾಂ ಕೈಕೇಯೀಸುಪ್ರಜಾಸ್ತ್ವಯಾ.

ಮಾತರಂ ಕುಶಲಂ ಬ್ರೂಯಾಃ ಪಿತರಂ ಚ ಪರನ್ತಪ৷৷2.70.17৷৷


ತಾತ O child, ಗಚ್ಛ you may go, ತ್ವಾಮ್ you, ಅನುಜಾನೇ I permit, ತ್ವಯಾ by you, ಕೈಕೇಯೀ Kaikeyi, ಸುಪ್ರಜಾಃ has a worthy son, ಪರನ್ತಪ O slayer of enemies, ಮಾತರಮ್ your mother, ಪಿತರಂ ಚ and father, ಕುಶಲಮ್ welfare, ಬ್ರೂಯಾಃ convey.

You may go, my child! I permit you to leave. Kaikeyi has a worthy son in you. O slayer of enemies! convey my best wishes to your mother and father.
ಪುರೋಹಿತಂ ಚ ಕುಶಲಂ ಯೇ ಚಾನ್ಯೇ ದ್ವಿಜಸತ್ತಮಾಃ.

ತೌ ಚ ತಾತ! ಮಹೇಷ್ವಾಸೌ ಭ್ರಾತರೌ ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೌ৷৷2.70.18৷৷


ತಾತ! O child, ಪುರೋಹಿತಮ್ to the family priest (Vasistha), ಅನ್ಯೇ and others, ಯೇ ದ್ವಿಜಸತ್ತಮಾಃ those illustrious brahmins, ಮಹೇಷ್ವಾಸೌ great bowmen (Rama and Lakshmana), ಕುಶಲಮ್ best wishes, (ಬ್ರೂಹಿ convey).

My child, convey my best wishes, too, to your family priest Vasistha and other illustrious brahmins and also to those two great bowmen (Rama and Lakshmana).
ತಸ್ಮೈ ಹಸ್ತ್ಯುತ್ತಮಾಂಶ್ಚಿತ್ರಾನ್ಕಮ್ಬಲಾನಜಿನಾನಿ ಚ.

ಅಭಿಸತ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಕೈಕೇಯೋ ಭರತಾಯ ಧನಂ ದದೌ৷৷2.70.19৷৷


ಕೈಕೇಯಃ king of Kekaya, ತಸ್ಮೈ ಭರತಾಯ to that Bharata, ಹಸ್ತ್ಯುತ್ತಮಾನ್ well-bred elephants, ಚಿತ್ರಾನ್ of many-coloured, ಕಮ್ಬಲಾನ್ blankets, ಅಜಿನಾನಿ ಚ antelope skins, ಧನಮ್ riches, ಅಭಿಸತ್ಕೃತ್ಯ having felicitated, ದದೌ bestowed.

The king of Kekaya felicitated Bharata, out of affection and bestowed on him well-bred elephants, many-coloured blankets, antelope skins and riches.
ರುಕ್ಮನಿಷ್ಕಸಹಸ್ರೇ ದ್ವೇ ಷೋಡಶಾಶ್ವಶತಾನಿ ಚ.

ಸತ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಕೈಕಯೀಪುತ್ರಂ ಕೇಕಯೋ ಧನಮಾದಿಶತ್৷৷2.70.20৷৷


ಕೇಕಯಃ king of Kekaya, ಕೈಕಯೀಪುತ್ರಂ son of Kaikeyi, ಸತ್ಕೃತ್ಯ having honoured, ದ್ವೇ two, ರುಕ್ಮನಿಷ್ಕಸಹಸ್ರೇ two thousand gold coins, ಷೋಡಶ ಅಶ್ವಶತಾನಿ ಚ sixteen hundred horses also, ಧನಮ್ as wealth, ಆದಿಶತ್ bestowed.

King of Kekaya generously gave to the son of Kaikeyi (Bharata) in his honour two thousand gold coins and sixteen hundred horses.
ತಥಾಮಾತ್ಯಾನಭಿಪ್ರೇತಾನ್ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ್ಯಾಂಶ್ಚ ಗುಣಾನ್ವಿತಾನ್.

ದದಾವಶ್ವಪತಿಃ ಕ್ಷಿಪ್ರಂ ಭರತಾಯಾನುಯಾಯಿನಃ৷৷2.70.21৷৷


ತಥಾ in the same way, ಅಶ್ವಪತಿಃ Ashwapati, ಭರತಾಯ for Bharata, ಅಭಿಪ್ರೇತಾನ್ eamenable, ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ್ಯಾನ್ trustworthy men, ಗುಣಾನ್ವಿತಾನ್ virtuous men, ಅಮಾತ್ಯಾನ್ counsellors, ಅನುಯಾಯಿನಃ as companions, ದದೌ gave.

Similarly his maternal uncle Ashwapati quickly presented him amenable, trustworthy and virtuous counsellors as companions on his return journey.
ಐರಾವತಾನೈನ್ದ್ರಶಿರಾನ್ನಾಗಾನ್ವೈ ಪ್ರಿಯದರ್ಶನಾನ್.

ಖರಾನ್ ಶ್ರೀಘ್ರಾನ್ಸುಸಂಯುಕ್ತಾನ್ಮಾತುಲೋಸ್ಮೈ ಧನಂ ದದೌ৷৷2.70.22৷৷


ಮಾತುಲಃ maternal uncle, ಅಸ್ಮೈ for him (Bharata), ಐರಾವತಾನ್ born in Iravata mountain, ಐನ್ದ್ರಶಿರಾನ್ born in Indrasira mountain, ಪ್ರಿಯದರ್ಶನಾನ್ beautiful to behold, ನಾಗಾನ್ elephants, ಶೀಘ್ರಾನ್ swift- moving, ಸುಸಂಯುಕ್ತಾನ್ well-trained, ಖರಾನ್ asses, ಧನಮ್ riches, ದದೌ gave.

His maternal uncle gave him the wealth of good-looking elephants born in Iravata and Indrasira mountains and swift-moving and well-trained asses which can be yoked easily. He gave riches too.
ಅನ್ತಃಪುರೇತಿ ಸಂವೃದ್ಧಾನ್ ವ್ಯಾಘ್ರವೀರ್ಯಬಲಾನ್ವಿತಾನ್.

ದಂಷ್ಟ್ರಾಯುಧಾನ್ಮಹಾಕಾಯಾನ್ ಶುನಶ್ಚೋಪಾಯನಂ ದದೌ৷৷2.70.23৷৷


ಅನ್ತಃಪುರೇ in the inner apartment, ಅತಿ ಸಂವೃದ್ಧಾನ್ well-raised, ವ್ಯಾಘ್ರವೀರ್ಯಬಲಾನ್ವಿತಾನ್ having the strength and courage of tigers, ದಂಷ್ಟ್ರಾಯುಧಾನ್ whose fangs are their weapons spears, ಮಹಾಕಾಯಾನ್ of huge body, ಶುನಶ್ಚ dogs also, ಉಪಾಯನಮ್ as gift, ದದೌ gave.

He also gave him a gift of well-raised dogs of the inner apartment huge-bodied with the strength and courage of tigers who used their fangs as weapons.

ತದಾ then, ಗಮನತ್ವರಯಾ in a hurry to depart, ಸಃ that, ಕೈಕಯೀಪುತ್ರಃ son of Kaikeyi, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ಕೇಕಯೇನ್ದ್ರೇಣ by the king of Kekaya, ದತ್ತಮ್ given, ಧನಮ್ wealth, ನಾಭ್ಯನನ್ದತ did not delight him.

All the wealth given by the king of Kekaya did not delight Bharata, son of Kaikeyi who was in a hurry to depart for Ayodhya.
ಬಭೂವ ಹ್ಯಸ್ಯ ಹೃದಯೇ ಚಿನ್ತಾ ಸುಮಹತೀ ತದಾ.

ತ್ವರಯಾ ಚಾಪಿ ದೂತಾನಾಂ ಸ್ವಪ್ನಸ್ಯಾಪಿ ಚ ದರ್ಶನಾತ್৷৷2.70.25৷৷


ದೂತಾನಾಮ್ messengers', ತ್ವರಯಾ ಚಾಪಿ with the haste to depart, ಸ್ವಪ್ನಸ್ಯ dream's, ದರ್ಶನಾಚ್ಚಾಪಿ also due to beholding, ತದಾ then, ಅಸ್ಯ his, ಹೃದಯೇ in the heart, ಸುಮಹತೀ intense, ಚಿನ್ತಾ
anxiety, ಬಭೂವ ಹಿ filled with.

Then his heart was filled with extreme anxiety due to the haste of the messengers to depart and also due to the dream he had.
ಸ ಸ್ವವೇಶ್ಮಾಭ್ಯತಿಕ್ರಮ್ಯ ನರನಾಗಾಶ್ವಸಂವೃತಮ್.

ಪ್ರಪೇದೇ ಸುಮಹಚ್ಛ್ರೀಮಾನ್ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗಮನುತ್ತಮಮ್৷৷2.70.26৷৷


ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ prosperous, ಸಃ he (Bharata), ನರನಾಗಾಶ್ವಸಂವೃತಮ್ thronged with men, elephants and horses, ಸುಮಹತ್ great, ಸ್ವವೇಶ್ಮ his residence, ಅಭ್ಯತಿಕ್ರಮ್ಯ having passed by, ಅನುತ್ತಮಮ್ incomparable, ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗಮ್ royal highway, ಪ್ರಪೇದೇ obtained.

Prosperous Bharata on leaving his residence, passed through incomparable royal highway thronged with men, elephants and horses.
ಅಭ್ಯತೀತ್ಯ ತತೋಪಶ್ಯದನ್ತಃಪುರಮುದಾರಧೀಃ.

ತತಸ್ತದ್ಭರತಶ್ಶ್ರೀಮಾನಾವಿವೇಶಾನಿವಾರಿತಃ৷৷2.70.27৷৷


ಉದಾರಧೀಃ noble-minded, ಅಭ್ಯತೀತ್ಯ having crossed, ತತಃ thereafter, ಅನ್ತಃಪುರಮ್ inner apartment, ಅಪಶ್ಯತ್ saw, ತತಃ then, ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ prosperous, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ಅನಿವಾರಿತಃ without any restriction, ತತ್ in that apartment, ಆವಿವೇಶ entered.

Then the noble-minded, prosperous Bharata, on leaving the highway, saw the inner apartment of the king which he entered unhindered.
ಸ ಮಾತಾಮಹಮಾಪೃಚ್ಛ್ಯ ಮಾತುಲಂ ಚ ಯುಧಾಜಿತಮ್.

ರಥಮಾರುಹ್ಯ ಭರತಶ್ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನಸಹಿತೋ ಯಯೌ৷৷2.70.28৷৷


ಸಃ ಭರತಃ that Bharata, ಮತಾಮಹಮ್ maternal grandfather, ಮಾತುಲಮ್ uncle, ಯುಧಾಜಿತಮ್ Yaddhajit, ಆಪೃಚ್ಛ್ಯ taking leave, ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನಸಹಿತಃ along with Satrughna, ರಥಮ್ chariot, ಆರುಹ್ಯ having ascended, ಯಯೌ went.

Thus having taken leave of his maternal grandfather and uncle Yuddhajit, Bharata accompanied by Satrughna boarded the chariot and went along.
ರಥಾನ್ಮಣ್ಡಲ ಚಕ್ರಾಂಶ್ಚ ಯೋಜಯಿತ್ವಾ ಪರಶ್ಶತಮ್.

ಉಷ್ಟ್ರ ಗೋಶ್ವಬಲೈರ್ಭೃತ್ಯಾ ಭರತಂ ಯಾನ್ತಮನ್ವಯುಃ৷৷2.70.29৷৷


ಭೃತ್ಯಾಃ servants, ಮಣ್ಡಲಚಕ್ರಾಂಶ್ಚ of well-rounded wheels, ಪರಶ್ಶತಾನ್ more than a hundred, ರಥಾನ್ chariots, ಯೋಜಯಿತ್ವಾ harnessing, ಉಷ್ಟ್ರಗೋಶ್ವಬಲೈಃ with camels, oxen, and horses, ಯಾನ್ತಮ್ going on, ಭರತಮ್ Bharata, ಅನ್ಯಯುಃ followed.

And the servants harnessing more than a hundred chariots of well-rounded wheels and also camels, oxen and horses followed Bharata who started off.
ಬಲೇನ ಗುಪ್ತೋ ಭರತೋ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ ಸಹಾರ್ಯಕಸ್ಯಾತ್ಮಸಮೈರಮಾತ್ಯೈಃ.

ಆದಾಯ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನಮಪೇತಶತ್ರುರ್ಗೃಹಾದ್ಯಯೌ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಇವೇನ್ದ್ರಲೋಕಾತ್৷৷2.70.30৷৷


ಬಲೇನ with army, ಗುಪ್ತಃ under the protection of, ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾ illustrious, ಅಪೇತಶತ್ರುಃ devoid of enemies, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ಆತ್ಮಸಮೈಃ like himself, ಅಮಾತ್ಯೈಸ್ಸಹ accompanied by ministers, ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನಮ್ Satrughna, ಆದಾಯ having taken, ಆರ್ಯಕಸ್ಯ venerable grandfather's, ಗೃಹಾತ್ from house, ಸಿದ್ಧ: like siddha, ಇನ್ದ್ರಲೋಕಾದಿವ from the regions of Indra, ಯಯೌ went.

Under the protection of the army, the illustrious Bharata who was devoid of enemies, accompanied by ministers who were comparable to him and Satrughna, departed from his venerable grandfather's house like a siddha leaving the regions of Indra.
ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾಕಾಣ್ಡೇ ಸಪ್ತತಿತಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ৷৷
Thus ends the seventieth sarga in Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
