[Bharata's Journey to Chitrakuta --- Bharata observes signs of smoke and presumes it to be the hermitage of Rama --- Bharata, Vasistha and Satrughna move forward towards the hermitage.]

ತಯಾ ಮಹತ್ಯಾ ಯಾಯಿನ್ಯಾ ಧ್ವಜಿನ್ಯಾ ವನವಾಸಿನಃ.

ಅರ್ದಿತಾ ಯೂಥಪಾ ಮತ್ತಾಃ ಸಯೂಥಾಸ್ಸಮ್ಪ್ರದುದ್ರುವುಃ৷৷2.93.1৷৷


ಯಾಯಿನ್ಯಾ while on the march, ಮಹತ್ಯಾ by the great, ತಯಾ that, ಧ್ವಜಿನ್ಯಾ by the army, ವನವಾಸಿನಃ foresters, ಮತ್ತಾಃ exited, ಯೂಥಪಾಃ the leaders of herds, ಅರ್ದಿತಾಃ were frightened, ಸಯೂಥಾಃ with
herds, ಸಮ್ಪ್ರದುದ್ರುವುಃ ran off.

On seeing the great army marching, the exited leaders of herds of elephants inhabiting the forest were frightened and ran off with their herds.
ಋಕ್ಷಾಃ ಪೃಷತಸಙ್ಘಾಶ್ಚ ರುರವಶ್ಚ ಸಮನ್ತತಃ.

ದೃಶ್ಯನ್ತೇ ವನರಾಜೀಷು ಗಿರಿಷ್ವಪಿ ನದೀಷು ಚ৷৷2.93.2৷৷


ವನರಾಜೀಷು in the stretches of the forest, ಗಿರಿಷ್ವಪಿ also on the mountains, ನದೀಷು ಚ at the river banks, ಸಮನ್ತತಃ on all sides, ಋಕ್ಷಾಃ bears, ಪೃಷತಸಙ್ಘಾಶ್ಚ herds of dappled gazelle, ರುರವಶ್ಚ antelopes, ದೃಶ್ಯನ್ತೇ could be seen

Bears, herds of dappled gazelle and antelopes could be seen everywhere in the stretches of the forest, also on the mountains and on the river banks.
ಸ ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಸ್ಥೇ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ಪ್ರೀತೋ ದಶರಥಾತ್ಮಜಃ.

ವೃತೋ ಮಹತ್ಯಾ ನಾದಿನ್ಯಾ ಸೇನಯಾ ಚತುರಙ್ಗಯಾ৷৷2.93.3৷৷


ಧರ್ಮತ್ಮಾ the righteous, ಸಃ ದಶರಥಾತ್ಮಜಃ that son of Dasaratha (Bharata), ಪ್ರೀತಃ was delighted, ನಾದಿನ್ಯಾ clamouring, ಮಹತ್ಯಾ great, ಚತುರಙ್ಗಯಾ of four divisions, ಸೇನಯಾ with army, ವೃತಃ
surrounded by, ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಸ್ಥೇ proceeded.

Bharata the righteous son of Dasaratha, proceeded with great delight in the company of the clamouring army of four divisions.
ಸಾಗರೌಘನಿಭಾ ಸೇನಾ ಭರತಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ.

ಮಹೀಂ ಸಞ್ಛಾದಯಾಮಾಸ ಪ್ರಾವೃಷಿ ದ್ಯಾಮಿವಾಮ್ಬುದಃ৷৷2.93.4৷৷


ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ of the magnanimous one, ಭರತಸ್ಯ Bharata's, ಸಾಗರೌಘನಿಭಾ resembling the waves of ocean, ಸೇನಾ the army, ಪ್ರಾವೃಷಿ during the rainy season, ಅಮ್ಬುದಃ cloud, ದ್ಯಾಮಿವ like the sky, ಮಹೀಮ್ the earth, ಸಞ್ಛಾದಯಾಮಾಸ covered.

The army of the magnanimous Bharata, resembling the waves of the ocean, covered the earth as the clouds cover the sky during the rainy season.
ತುರಙ್ಗೌಘೈರವತತಾ ವಾರಣೈಶ್ಚ ಮಹಾಜವೈಃ.

ಅನಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಾ ಚಿರಂ ಕಾಲಂ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ಕಾಲೇ ಬಭೂವ ಭೂಃ৷৷2.93.5৷৷


ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ಕಾಲೇ at that moment, ಮಹಾಜವೈಃ with great speed, ತುರಙ್ಗೌಘೈಃ with multitude of horses, ವಾರಣೈಶ್ಚ with elephants, ಅವತತಾ overspread, ಭೂಃ the earth, ಚಿರಕಾಲಮ್ for a long time, ಅನಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಾ ಬಭೂವ became invisible.

At that moment, a multiutde of swift horses and elephants spread out with great speed and the surface of the earth became invisible for a long time.
ಸ ಯಾತ್ವಾ ದೂರಮಧ್ವಾನಂ ಸುಪರಿಶ್ರಾನ್ತವಾಹನಃ.

ಉವಾಚ ಭರತ ಶ್ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ ವಸಿಷ್ಠಂ ಮನ್ತ್ರಿಣಾಂ ವರಮ್৷৷2.93.6৷৷


ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ the majestic one, ಸಃ ಭರತಃ that Bharata, ದೂರಮ್ great, ಅಧ್ವಾನಮ್ distance, ಯಾತ್ವಾ having travelled, ಸುಪರಿಶ್ರಾನ್ತವಾಹನಃ with draught animals extremely wearied, ಮನ್ತ್ರಿಣಾಮ್ among counsellors, ವರಮ್ the best, ವಸಿಷ್ಠಮ್ addressing Vasistha, ಉವಾಚ said.

With his draught animals extremely wearied by covering a great distance, the majestic Bharata said to Vasistha, the best of counsellors:
ಯಾದೃಶಂ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯತೇ ರೂಪಂ ಯಥಾ ಚೈವ ಶ್ರುತಂ ಮಯಾ.

ವ್ಯಕ್ತಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ ಸ್ಮ ತಂ ದೇಶಂ ಭರದ್ವಾಜೋ ಯಮಬ್ರವೀತ್৷৷2.93.7৷৷


ಯಾದೃಶಮ್ whichever, ರೂಪಮ್ the appearance, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯತೇ is being observed, ಮಯಾ by me, ಯಥಾ as, ಶ್ರುತಂ ಚೈವ has been heard, ಯಮ್ about which region, ಭರದ್ವಾಜಃ Bharadwaja, ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ spoke, ತಂ ದೇಶಮ್ that region, ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ ಸ್ಮ we have reached, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮ್ this is clear.

Looking at these surroundings and from what I had heard, it is clear that we have reached the region indicated by Bharadwaja.
ಅಯಂ ಗಿರಿಶ್ಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟ ಇಯಂ ಮನ್ದಾಕಿನೀ ನದೀ.

ಏತತ್ಪ್ರಕಾಶತೇ ದೂರಾನ್ನೀಲಮೇಘನಿಭಂ ವನಮ್৷৷2.93.8৷৷


ಅಯಮ್ ಗಿರಿಃ this is the mountain, ಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಃ is Chitrakuta, ಇಯಂ ನದೀ this is the river, ಮನ್ದಾಕಿನೀ Mandakini, ದೂರಾತ್ from a distance, ಏತತ್ this, ನೀಲಮೇಘನಿಭಮ್ like a blue cloud, ವನಮ್ forest, ಪ್ರಕಾಶತೇ is shining.

This mountain is Chitrakuta and this river, Mandakini. The forest shines from a distance like a blue cloud.
ಗಿರೇ ಸ್ಸಾನೂನಿ ರಮ್ಯಾಣಿ ಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಸ್ಯ ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಿ.

ವಾರಣೈರವಮೃದ್ಯನ್ತೇ ಮಾಮಕೈ ಪರ್ವತೋಪಮೈಃ৷৷2.93.9৷৷


ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಿ now, ಮಾಮಕೈಃ relating to me, ಪರ್ವತೋಪಮೈಃ resembling mountains, ವಾರಣೈಃ with elephants, ಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟಸ್ಯ ಗಿರೇಃ Chitrkuta mountain's, ರಮ್ಯಾಣಿ enchanting, ಸಾನೂನಿ ridges, ಅವಮೃದ್ಯನ್ತೇ are being trampled.

The enchanting ridges of mount Chitrakuta are now trampled by my mountain-like elephants.
ಮುಞ್ಚನ್ತಿ ಕುಸುಮಾನ್ಯೇತೇ ನಗಾಃ ಪರ್ವತಸಾನುಷು.

ನೀಲಾ ಇವಾತಪಾಪಾಯೇ ತೋಯಂ ತೋಯಧರಾ ಘನಾಃ৷৷2.93.10৷৷


ಪರ್ವತಸಾನುಷು on the mountain ridges, ಏತೇ ನಗಾಃ these trees, ಆತಪಾಪಾಯೇ at the end of summer, ನೀಲಾಃ blue, ಘನಾಃ dense, ತೋಯಧರಾಃ rain-clouds, ತೋಯಮ್ ಇವ like showers, ಕುಸುಮಾನಿ flowers, ಮುಞ್ಚನ್ತಿ are shedding.

The trees on the mountain ridges are shedding flowers, like dense blue rain-clouds showering water at the end of summer.
ಕಿನ್ನರಾಚರಿತಂ ದೇಶಂ ಪಶ್ಯ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ! ಪರ್ವತಮ್.

ಮೃಗೈಸ್ಸಮನ್ತಾದಾಕೀರ್ಣಂ ಮಕರೈರಿವ ಸಾಗರಮ್৷৷2.93.11৷৷


ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ! O Satrughna, ಮಕರೈಃ with great crocodiles, ಸಾಗರಮ್ ಇವ like ocean, ಸಮನ್ತಾತ್ everywhere, ಮೃಗೈಃ with animals, ಆಕೀರ್ಣಮ್ abounding, ಕಿನ್ನರಾಚರಿತಮ್ frequented by kinneras, ದೇಶಮ್ region, ಪರ್ವತಮ್ mountain, ಪಶ್ಯ behold.

O Satrughna, behold this mountain frequented by kinneras and abounding in animals like great crocodiles in the ocean.
ಏತೇ ಮೃಗಗಣಾ ಭಾನ್ತಿ ಶೀಘ್ರವೇಗಾಃ ಪ್ರಚೋದಿತಾಃ.

ವಾಯುಪ್ರವಿದ್ಧಾ ಶ್ಶರದಿ ಮೇಘರಾಜಿರಿವಾಮ್ಬರೇ৷৷2.93.12৷৷


ಪ್ರಚೋದಿತಾಃ incited, ಶೀಘ್ರವೇಗಾಃ swift-footed, ಏತೇ these, ಮೃಗಗಣಾಃ herds of deer, ಶರದಿ autumnal, ಅಮ್ಬರೇ sky, ವಾಯುಪ್ರವಿದ್ಧಾ expelled, ಮೇಘರಾಜಿರಿವ like mass of clouds, ಭಾನ್ತಿ are appearing.

Incited by the clamour of the army, these swift-running herds of deer expelled from their retreats resemble mass of clouds in the autumnal sky shattered by the wind.
ಕುರ್ವನ್ತಿ ಕುಸುಮಾಪೀಡಾನ್ ಶಿರಸ್ಸು ಸುರಭೀನಮೀ.

ಮೇಘಪ್ರಕಾಶೈಃ ಫಲಕೈರ್ದಾಕ್ಷಿಣಾತ್ಯಾ ಯಥಾ ನರಾಃ৷৷2.93.13৷৷


ಅಮೀ these mountain ridges, ಮೇಘಪ್ರಕಾಶೈಃ looking brilliant like clouds, ಫಲಕೈಃ shields, ದಾಕ್ಷಿಣಾತ್ಯಾಃ belonging to southern region, ನರಾಃ ಯಥಾ like people, ಶಿರಸ್ಸು on their heads, ಸುರಭೀನ್ fragrant, ಕುಸುಮಾಪೀಡಾನ್ flower adornments, ಕುರ್ವನ್ತಿ are making.

Like the people of the south, the trees on the mountain ridges with branches, brilliant like clouds, are crowned with fragrant flowers as adornments.
ನಿಷ್ಕೂಜಮಿವ ಭೂತ್ವೇದಂ ವನಂ ಘೋರಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಮ್.

ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೇವ ಜನಾಕೀರ್ಣಾ ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾತಿ ಮಾ৷৷2.93.14৷৷


ಘೋರಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಮ್ dreadful in appearance, ಇದಂ ವನಮ್ this forest, ನಿಷ್ಕೂಜಮಿವ ಭೂತ್ವಾ devoid of any twittering of birds, ಸಮ್ಪ್ರತಿ now, ಜನಾಕೀರ್ಣಾ thronged with people, ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೇವ like Ayodhya, ಮಾ to me, ಪ್ರತಿಭಾತಿ it appears.

This forest, dreadful in appearance was devoid of twittering of birds. But now it appears to me like Ayodhya thronged with people.
ಖುರೈರುದೀರಿತೋ ರೇಣುರ್ದಾವಂ ಪ್ರಚ್ಛಾದ್ಯ ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ.

ತಂ ವಹತ್ಯನಿಲ ಶ್ಶ್ರೀಘ್ರಂ ಕುರ್ವನ್ನಿವ ಮಮ ಪ್ರಿಯಮ್৷৷2.93.15৷৷


ಖುರೈಃ by the hooves, ಉದೀರಿತಃ kicked, ರೇಣುಃ dust, ದಾವಮ್ the forest, ಪ್ರಚ್ಛಾದ್ಯ having enveloped, ತಿಷ್ಠತಿ is set, ಅನಿಲಃ wind, ಮಮ to me, ಪ್ರಿಯಮ್ pleasure, ಕುರ್ವನ್ ಇವ as if to give, ಶೀಘ್ರಮ್ quickly, ತಮ್ that dust, ವಹತಿ transporting it.

While the dust kicked by the hooves of the horses enveloped the forest, the wind, as if to please me, is quickly blowing them away.
ಸ್ಯನ್ದನಾಂಸ್ತುರಗೋಪೇತಾನ್ಸೂತಮುಖ್ಯೈ ರಧಿಷ್ಠಿತಾನ್.

ಏತಾನ್ಸಮ್ಪತತಶ್ಶ್ರೀಘ್ರಂ ಪಶ್ಯ ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ ಕಾನನೇ৷৷2.93.16৷৷


ಶತ್ರುಘ್ನ O Satrughna, ಕಾನನೇ in the forest, ಶೀಘ್ರಮ್ quickly, ಸಮ್ಪತತಃ flying, ಸೂತಮುಖ್ಯೈಃ by excellent charioteers, ಅಧಿಷ್ಠಿತಾನ್ commanded by, ತುರಗೋಪೇತಾನ್ drawn by horses, ಏತಾನ್ these, ಸ್ಯನ್ದನಾನ್ chariots, ಪಶ್ಯ behold.

Behold, O Satrughna, these chariots, commanded by excellent charioteers, harnessed with horses are flying through the forest.
ಏತಾನ್ವಿತ್ರಾಸಿತಾನ್ಪಶ್ಯಬರ್ಹಿಣಃ ಪ್ರಿಯದರ್ಶನಾನ್.

ಏತಮಾವಿಶತ ಶ್ಶ್ರೀಘ್ರಮಧಿವಾಸಂ ಪತತ್ರಿಣಃ৷৷2.93.17৷৷


ಪ್ರಿಯದರ್ಶನಾನ್ pleasant to look, ವಿತ್ರಾಸಿತಾನ್ frightened, ಏತಮ್ ಅಧಿವಾಸಮ್ their nests, ಶೀಘ್ರಮ್
hurriedly, ಆವಿಶತಃ entering, ಏತಾನ್ these, ಬರ್ಹಿಣಃ peacocks, ಪತತ್ರಿಣಃ birds, ಪಶ್ಯ behold.

Behold, these lovely frightened peacocks and other birds hurriedly entering their nests.
ಅತಿಮಾತ್ರಮಯಂ ದೇಶೋ ಮನೋಜ್ಞಃ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾತಿ ಮೇ.

ತಾಪಸಾನಾಂ ನಿವಾಸೋಯಂ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಂ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಪಥೋ ಯಥಾ৷৷2.93.18৷৷


ಅಯಂ ದೇಶಃ this region, ಅತಿಮಾತ್ರಮ್ very, ಮನೋಜ್ಞಃ charming, ಮೇ to me, ಪ್ರತಿಭಾತಿ appears, ಸ್ವರ್ಗಪಥೋ ಯಥಾ like pathway to heaven, ಅಯಮ್ this one, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮ್ clearly, ತಾಪಸಾನಾಮ್ ascetics', ನಿವಾಸಃ abode.

Being the abode of ascetics, this region looks very charming like the pathway to heaven.
ಮೃಗಾ ಮೃಗೀಭಿಃ ಸಹಿತಾ ಬಹವಃ ಪೃಷತಾ ವನೇ.

ಮನೋಜ್ಞರೂಪಾ ದೃಶ್ಯನ್ತೇ ಕುಸುಮೈರಿವ ಚಿತ್ರಿತಾಃ৷৷2.93.19৷৷


ವನೇ in this forest, ಬಹವಃ many, ಪೃಷತಾಃ ಮೃಗಾಃ spotted deer, ಕುಸುಮೈಃ with flowers, ಚಿತ್ರಿತಾ ಇವ as if painted, ಮನೋಜ್ಞರೂಪಾಃ of charming appearance, ಮೃಗೀಭಿಃ does, ಸಹಿತಾಃ in the company of,
ದೃಶ್ಯನ್ತೇ are seen.

In this forest many a dappled deer with their mates looking as if painted with flowers are seen wandering about with a charming appearance.
ಸಾಧು ಸೈನ್ಯಾಃ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತಾಂ ವಿಚಿನ್ವನ್ತು ಚ ಕಾನನೇ.

ಯಥಾ ತೌ ಪುರುಷವ್ಯಾಘ್ರೌ ದೃಶ್ಯೇತೇ ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೌ৷৷2.93.20৷৷


ಪುರುಷವ್ಯಾಘ್ರೌ best of men, ತೌ ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೌ those Rama and Lakshmana, ಯಥಾ how, ದೃಶ್ಯೇತೇ they could be seen, ಸೈನ್ಯಾಃ soldiers, ಸಾಧು properly, ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತಾಮ್ let them proceed, ಕಾನನೇ in the forest, ವಿಚಿನ್ವನ್ತು ಚ be searched.

Let the soldiers set out and properly search the forest till such time the best of men, Rama and Lakshmana, are found.
ಭರತಸ್ಯ ವಚಶ್ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಪುರುಷಾಶ್ಶಸ್ತ್ರಪಾಣಯಃ.

ವಿವಿಶು ಸ್ತದ್ವನಂ ಶೂರಾ ಧೂಮಂ ಚ ದದೃಶು ಸ್ತತಃ৷৷2.93.21৷৷


ಭರತಸ್ಯ Bharata's, ವಚಃ words, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ having heard, ಶಸ್ತ್ರಪಾಣಯಃ with weapons in their hands, ಶೂರಾಃ valiant, ಪುರುಷಾಃ men, ತತ್ that, ವನಮ್ forest, ವಿವಿಶುಃ entered, ತತಃ then, ಧೂಮಮ್ smoke, ದದೃಶುಶ್ಚ observed.

Hearing the words of Bharata, those valiant warriors with weapons in their hands entered the forest. Therafter, they observed a spiral of smoke rising.
ತೇ ಸಮಾಲೋಕ್ಯ ಧೂಮಾಗ್ರಮೂಚುರ್ಭರತಮಾಗತಾಃ.

ನಾಮನುಷ್ಯೇ ಭವತ್ಯಗ್ನಿ ರ್ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮತ್ರೈವ ರಾಘವೌ৷৷2.93.22৷৷


ತೇ they, ಧೂಮಾಗ್ರಮ್ column of smoke, ಸಮಾಲೋಕ್ಯ having seen, ಭರತಮ್ to Bharata, ಆಗತಾಃ returned, ಊಚುಃ communicated, ಅಮನುಷ್ಯೇ in a place bereft of men, ಅಗ್ನಿ: fire, ನ ಭವತಿ cannot exist, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮ್ clearly, ರಾಘವೌ Rama and Lakshmana, ಅತ್ರೈವ are here only.

Having seen the column of smoke, they returned and informed Bharata, saying, 'In a place bereft of men, fire cannot exist. Clearly Rama and Lakshmana must be here only.'
ಅಥ ನಾತ್ರ ನರವ್ಯಾಘ್ರೌ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರೌ ಪರನ್ತಪೌ.

ಅನ್ಯೇ ರಾಮೋಪಮಾ ಸ್ಸನ್ತಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮತ್ರ ತಪಸ್ವಿನಃ৷৷2.93.23৷৷


ಅಥ otherwise, ನರವ್ಯಾಘ್ರೌ tigers among men, ಪರನ್ತಪೌ subduers of enemies, ರಾಜಪುತ್ರೌ princes, ಅತ್ರ ನ if they are not here, ಅತ್ರ here, ರಾಮೋಪಮಾಃ resembling Rama, ಅನ್ಯೇ other, ತಪಸ್ವಿನಃ ಸನ್ತಿ ascetics are there, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮ್ evident.

In case the two princes, Rama and Lakshmana, the best of men, and subduers of
enemies are not residing here then evidently it must be some other ascetics like Rama.
ತಚ್ಛ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಭರತಸ್ತೇಷಾಂ ವಚನಂ ಸಾಧುಸಮ್ಮತಮ್.

ಸೈನ್ಯಾನುವಾಚ ಸರ್ವಾಂಸ್ತಾನಮಿತ್ರಬಲಮರ್ದನಃ৷৷2.93.24৷৷


ಅಮಿತ್ರಬಲಮರ್ದನಃ who crushes the hostile armies, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ತೇಷಾಮ್ their, ಸಾಧುಸಮ್ಮತಮ್ acceptable to the pious, ತತ್ ವಚನಮ್ those words, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ having heard, ಸರ್ವಾನ್ entire, ತಾನ್ ಸೈನ್ಯಾನ್ to that entire army, ಉವಾಚ said.

Having heard these words acceptable to the pious, Bharata, the crusher of enemy forces, addressed the entire army:
ಯತ್ತಾ ಭವನ್ತಸ್ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತು ನೇತೋ ಗನ್ತವ್ಯಮಗ್ರತಃ.

ಅಹಮೇವ ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಸುಮನ್ತ್ರೋ ಗುರುರೇವ ಚ৷৷2.93.25৷৷


ಭವನ್ತಃ all of you, ಯತ್ತಾಃ alertly, ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತು stay, ಇತಃ from here, ಅಗ್ರತಃ forward, ನ ಗನ್ತವ್ಯಮ್ you should not proceed, ಅಹಮೇವ myself alone, ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ I shall go, ಸುಮನ್ತ್ರಃ Sumantra, ಗುರುರೇವ ಚ preceptor Vasistha also.

ಏವಮುಕ್ತಾ ಸ್ತತಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ತತ್ರ ತಸ್ಥುಃ ಸಮನ್ತಃ.

ಭರತೋ ಯತ್ರ ಧೂಮಾಗ್ರಂ ತತ್ರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಂ ಸಮಾದಧಾತ್৷৷2.93.26৷৷


ತತಃ thereafter, ಏವಮ್ thus, ಉಕ್ತಾಃ spoken, ಸರ್ವೇ all of them, ಸಮನ್ತತಃ everyside, ತತ್ರ there, ತಸ್ಥುಃ halted, ಭರತಃ Bharata, ಧೂಮಾಗ್ರಮ್ column of smoke, ಯತ್ರ where it is seen, ತತ್ರ there, ದೃಷ್ಟಿಮ್ gaze, ಸಮಾದಧಾತ್ fixed.

At this command, all of them halted. Then Bharata fixed his gaze on the source of the smoke.
ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತಾ ಯಾ ಭರತೇನ ಸಾ ಚಮೂರ್ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಮಾಣಾಪಿ ಚ ಭೂಮಿಮಗ್ರತಃ.

ಬಭೂವ ಹೃಷ್ಟಾ ನ ಚಿರೇಣ ಜಾನತೀ ಪ್ರಿಯಸ್ಯ ರಾಮಸ್ಯ ಸಮಾಗಮಂ ತದಾ৷৷2.93.27৷৷


ಯಾ the army, ಭರತೇನ by Bharata, ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತಾ has been halted, ಚಮೂಃ army, ಅಗ್ರತಃ in the forefront, ಭೂಮಿಮ್ the space, ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಮಾಣಾಪಿ ಚ even though gazing at, ನ ಚಿರೇಣ not long before, ತದಾ then, ಪ್ರಿಯಸ್ಯ of the beloved, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ಸಮಾಗಮಮ್ union, ಜಾನತೀ knowing, ಹೃಷ್ಟಾ ಬಭೂವ rejoiced.

The army thus halted by Bharata, gazing at the space before them rejoiced at the thought that not long before they would rejoin their beloved Rama.
ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಅಯೋಧ್ಯಾಕಾಣ್ಡೇ ತ್ರಿನವತಿತಮಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ৷৷
Thus ends the ninetythird sarga in Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
