[ Agastya's advice to Sri Rama--directs Sri Rama to go to Panchavati to reside.]

ರಾಮ! ಪ್ರೀತೋಸ್ಮಿ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ಪರಿತುಷ್ಟೋಸ್ಮಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ.

ಅಭಿವಾದಯಿತುಂ ಯನ್ಮಾಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ ಸ್ಥ ಸ್ಸಹ ಸೀತಯಾ৷৷3.13.1৷৷


ರಾಮ ! O Rama, ಪ್ರೀತಃ pleased, ಅಸ್ಮಿ I am, ತೇ ಭದ್ರಮ್ wish you well, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ Lakshmana, ಪರಿತುಷ್ಟಃ satisfied, ಅಸ್ಮಿ I am, ಯತ್ to me, ಸೀತಯಾ ಸಹ with Sita, ಮಾಮ್ to me, ಅಭಿವಾದಯಿತುಮ್ to pay reverence, ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೌ have come , ಸ್ಥಃ you both are.

O Rama ,I am pleased. I wish you well. I am glad that both of you have come here with Sita to pay respect to me.
ಅಧ್ವಶ್ರಮೇಣ ವಾಂ ಖೇದೋ ಬಾಧತೇ ಪ್ರಚುರಶ್ರಮಃ.

ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮುತ್ಕಣ್ಠತೇ ಚಾಪಿ ಮೈಥಿಲೀ ಜನಕಾತ್ಮಜಾ৷৷3.13.2৷৷


ಅಧ್ವಶ್ರಮೇಣ due to fatigue caused by the journey, ಪ್ರಚುರಶ್ರಮಃ much labour, ಖೇದಃ affliction, ವಾಮ್ you both, ಬಾಧತೇ in troubling, ಜನಕಾತ್ಮಜಾ Janaka's daughter, ಮೈಥಿಲೀ ಚಾಪಿ Maithili too, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಮ್ it is evident, ಉತ್ಕಣ್ಠತೇ is anxious.

Both of you are tired due to the journey. It is evident that Sita, daughter of Janaka, is anxious (to rest).
ಏಷಾ ಹಿ ಸುಕುಮಾರೀ ಚ ದುಃಖೈಶ್ಚ ನ ವಿಮಾನಿತಾ.

ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಯದೋಷಂ ವನಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾ ಭರ್ತೃಸ್ನೇಹಪ್ರಚೋದಿತಾ৷৷3.13.3৷৷


ಸುಕುಮಾರೀ ಚ she is delicate, ದುಃಖೈಶ್ಚ with difficulties, ನ ವಿಮಾನಿತಾ is not let down, ಏಷಾ this lady, ಭರ್ತೃಸ್ನೇಹಪ್ರಚೋದಿತಾ motivated by love for the husband, ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಯದೋಷಮ್ full of difficulties, ವನಮ್ forest, ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾ she came.

Even though delicate, Sita never feels discouraged by difficulties. She has come to the forest full of obstacles, since she is motivated by her love for her husband.
ಯಥೈಷಾ ರಮತೇ ರಾಮ ಇಹ ಸೀತಾ ತಥಾ ಕುರು.

ದುಷ್ಕರಂ ಕೃತವತ್ಯೇಷಾ ವನೇ ತ್ವಾಮನುಗಚ್ಛತೀ৷৷3.13.4৷৷


ರಾಮ O Rama, ಇಹ here, ಯಥಾ in whatever manner, ರಮತೇ she feels like enjoying, ತಥಾ like that, ಕುರು do, ಏಷಾ this lady, ವನೇ in this forest, ತ್ವಾಮ್ you, ಅನುಗಚ್ಛತೀ came following, ದುಷ್ಕರಮ್ difficult, ಕೃತವತೀ she has done.

O Rama, help Sita enjoy herself in whatever manner she likes. By following you into the forest, she has accomplished the most difficult task৷৷
ಏಷಾ ಹಿ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಃ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಣಾಮಾಸೃಷ್ಟೇ ರಘುನನ್ದನ!.

ಸಮಸ್ಥಮನುರಜ್ಯಾನ್ತಿ ವಿಷಮಸ್ಥಂ ತ್ಯಜನ್ತಿ ಚ৷৷3.13.5৷৷


ರಘುನನ್ಧನ ! O delight of the Raghu race, ಆಸೃಷ್ಟೇ from the beginning of creation, ಏಷಾ this is, ಸ್ತ್ರೀಣಾಮ್ of women, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಃ is the nature, ಸಮಸ್ಥಮ್ when everything is normal, ಅನುರಜ್ಯನ್ತಿ they enjoy, ವಿಷಮಸ್ಥಮ್ in hard situations, ತ್ಯಜನ್ತಿ ಚ they give up.

O Rama, the delight of the Raghu dynasty! from the beginning of the creation women, by nature, keep the husband company when all goes well and give them up when hard times come.
ಶತಹ್ರದಾನಾಂ ಲೋಲತ್ವಂ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣತಾಂ ತಥಾ.

ಗರೂಡಾನಿಲಯೋಶ್ಶೈಘ್ರ್ಯಮನುಗಚ್ಛನ್ತಿ ಯೋಷಿತಃ৷৷3.13.6৷৷


ಯೋಷಿತಃ women, ಶತಹ್ರದಾನಾಮ್ of the lightnings, ಲೋಲತ್ವಮ್ fickleness, ಶಸ್ತ್ರಾಣಾಮ್ of weapons, ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣತಾಮ್ sharpness, ತಥಾ like that, ಗರುಡಾನಿಲಯೋಃ of Garuda (king of birds) and wind, ಶೈಘ್ರ್ಯಮ್ speed, ಅನುಗಚ್ಛನ್ತಿ follow.

Women are fickle like lightning, sharp like weapons and fast like Garuda or the
wind-god.
ಇಯಂ ತು ಭವತೋ ಭಾರ್ಯಾ ದೋಷೈರೇತೈರ್ವಿವರ್ಜಿತಾ.

ಶ್ಲಾಘ್ಯಾ ಚ ವ್ಯಪದೇಶ್ಯಾ ಚ ಯಥಾ ದೇವೀ ಹ್ಯರುನ್ಧತೀ৷৷3.13.7৷৷


ಭವತಃ your, ಭಾರ್ಯಾ wife, ಇಯಂ ತು this lady, ಏತೈಃ by these, ದೋಷೈಃ demerits, ವಿವರ್ಜಿತಾ is free, ದೇವೀ revered lady, ಅರುನ್ಧತೀ ಯಥಾ like Arundhati, ಶ್ಲಾಘ್ಯಾ ಚ she is praiseworthy, ವ್ಯಪದೇಶ್ಯಾ ಚ exemplary too.

Your wife is free from such blemishes. She is praiseworthy and worthy of mention as an example just like the revered Arundhati.
ಅಲಙ್ಕೃತೋಯಂ ದೇಶಶ್ಚ ಯತ್ರ ಸೌಮಿತ್ರಿಣಾ ಸಹ.

ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾ ಚಾನಯಾ ರಾಮ ವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ ತ್ವಮರಿನ್ದಮ৷৷3.13.8৷৷


ಅರಿನ್ದಮ O subduer of enemies, ರಾಮ Rama, ಸೌಮಿತ್ರಿಣಾ ಸಹ along with Lakshmana, ಅನಯಾ by her, ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾಚ with Vaidehi, ಯತ್ರ whereever, ವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ you reside, ಅಯಮ್ this, ದೇಶಶ್ಚ region, ಅಲಙ್ಕೃತಃ is adorned.

O Rama, subduer of enemies! the place where you reside along with Lakshmana and Vaidehi will look adorned, indeed.
ಏವಮುಕ್ತಸ್ಸಮುನಿನಾ ರಾಘವಸ್ಸಂಯತಾಞ್ಜಲಿಃ.

ಉವಾಚ ಪ್ರಶ್ರಿತಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಮೃಷಿಂ ದೀಪ್ತಮಿವಾನಲಮ್৷৷3.13.9৷৷


ಮುನಿನಾ by the ascetic, ಏವಮ್ in that way, ಉಕ್ತಃ being told, ಸಃ that, ರಾಘವಃ Rama, ಸಂಯತಾಞ್ಜಲಿಃ with palms held together, ದೀಪ್ತಮ್ burning, ಅನಲಮಿವ like fire, ಋಷಿಮ್ to sage, ಪ್ರಶ್ರಿತಮ್ politely, ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ these words, ಉವಾಚ said.

Thus addressed, Rama held his palms together and said politely to the sage shining like fire:
ಧನ್ಯೋಸ್ಮ್ಯನುಗೃಹೀತೋಸ್ಮಿ ಯಸ್ಯ ಮೇ ಮುನಿಪುಙ್ಗವಃ.

ಗುಣೈಸ್ಸಭ್ರಾತೃಭಾರ್ಯಸ್ಯ ವರದಃ ಪರಿತುಷ್ಯತಿ৷৷3.13.10৷৷


ಸಭ್ರಾತೃಭಾರ್ಯಸ್ಯ of me, along with my brother and my wife, ಯಸ್ಯ ಮೇ of whom, ಗುಣೈಃ qualities, ವರದಃ bestower of boons, ಮುನಿಪುಙ್ಗವಃ great among the sages, ಪರಿತುಷ್ಯತಿ is pleased, ಧನ್ಯಃ blessed, ಅಸ್ಮಿ I am, ಅನುಗೃಹೀತಃ favoured, ಅಸ್ಮಿ me.

I consider myself blessed and favoured by a great sage like you, bestower of boons as you have been pleased with me, my brother and my life.
ಕಿನ್ತು ವ್ಯಾದಿಶ ಮೇ ದೇಶಂ ಸೋದಕಂ ಬಹುಕಾನನಮ್.

ಯತ್ರಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ವಸೇಯಂ ನಿರತಸ್ಸುಖಮ್৷৷3.13.11৷৷


ಕಿನ್ತು but, ಯತ್ರ there, ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಮ್ the hermitage, ಕೃತ್ವಾ after building, ನಿರತಃ always, ಸುಖಮ್ happily, ವಸೇಯಮ್ I may live, ಸೋದಕಮ್ with water, ಬಹುಕಾನನಮ್ with many forests, ದೇಶಮ್ place, ಮೇ for me, ವ್ಯಾದಿಶ direct.

Direct me to a place with water and dense forest where we can build an ashram and live happily.
ತತೋಬ್ರವೀನ್ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಶ್ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಮಸ್ಯ ತದ್ವಚಃ.

ಧ್ಯಾತ್ವಾ ಮುಹೂರ್ತಂ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ಧೀರೋ ಧೀರತರಂ ವಚಃ৷৷3.13.12৷৷


ತತಃ thereafter, ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ a righteous soul, ಧೀರಃ cool, ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ best among sages, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ತತ್ that, ವಚಃ words, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ on hearing, ಮುಹೂರ್ತಮ್ for a while, ಧ್ಯಾತ್ವಾ after thinking, ಧೀರತರಮ್ more solemn, ವಚಃ word, ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ uttered.

On hearing the words of Rama, Agastya, the best among the sages, cool-headed and righteous, thought a while and uttered these words coolly :
ಇತೋ ದ್ವಿಯೋಜನೇ ತಾತ ಬಹುಮೂಲಫಲೋದಕಃ.

ದೇಶೋ ಬಹುಮೃಗಶ್ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ಪಞ್ಚವಟ್ಯಭಿವಿಶ್ರುತಃ৷৷3.13.13৷৷


ತಾತ dear son, ಬಹುಮೂಲಫಲೋದಕಃ a place with many roots, fruits and water, ಬಹುಮೃಗಃ a place with many animals, ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ beautiful, ಪಞ್ಚವಟ್ಯಭಿವಿಶ್ರುತಃ popularly known as Panchavati, ಶಃ that place, ಇತಃ from here, ದ್ವಿಯೋಜನೇ at a distance of two yojanas.

O dear! two yojanas away is a place well-known as Panchavati, a beautiful resort with many roots, fruits, plenty of water and many animals.
ತತ್ರ ಗತ್ವಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಸೌಮಿತ್ರಿಣಾ ಸಹ.

ರಂಸ್ಯಸೇ ತ್ವಂ ಪಿತುರ್ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಯಥೋಕ್ತಮನುಪಾಲಯನ್৷৷3.13.14৷৷


ತ್ವಮ್ you, ಸೌಮಿತ್ರಿಣಾ ಸಹ along with Lakshmana, ತತ್ರ there, ಗತ್ವಾ after going, ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಮ್ hermitage, ಕೃತ್ವಾ building, ಯಥೋಕ್ತಮ್ as told, ಪಿತುಃ father's, ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ words, ಅನುಪಾಲಯನ್ while obeying, ರಂಸ್ಯಸೇ you will enjoy.

Reaching there, you wikk build a hermitage with Lakshmana and enjoy your life given to the fulfilment of the pledge to the father.
ಕಾಲೋಯಂ ಗತಭೂಯಿಷ್ಠೋ ಯಃ ಕಾಲ ಸ್ತವ ರಾಘವ.

ಸಮಯೋ ಯೋ ನರೇನ್ದ್ರೇಣ ಕೃತೋ ದಶರಥೇನ ತೇ৷৷3.13.15৷৷

ತೀರ್ಣಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞಃ ಕಾಕುತ್ಸ್ಥ ಸುಖಂ ರಾಜ್ಯೇ ನಿವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ.


ರಾಘವ O Rama, ತೇ for you, ನರೇನ್ದ್ರೇಣ by the king, ಯಃ whatever, ಸಮಯಃ time, ಕೃತಃ is fixed, ಯಃ that period, ತವ your, ಕಾಲಃ time, ಅಯಂ ಕಾಲಃ this period, ಗತಭೂಯಿಷ್ಠಃ has been mostly spent, ಕಾಕುತ್ಸ್ಥ Kakutstha, ತೀರ್ಣಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞಃ one who has fulfilled his promise, ರಾಜ್ಯೇ in the kingdom, ಸುಖಮ್ happily, ನಿವತ್ಸ್ಯಸಿ you will live.

O Rama, scion of the Kakutsthas ! much of the period of exile king Dasaratha had assigned has passed. You will fulfil your promise and live happily in the kingdom.
ಧನ್ಯಸ್ತೇ ಜನಕೋ ರಾಮ ಸ ರಾಜಾ ರಘುನನ್ದನ৷৷3.13.16৷৷

ಯಸ್ತ್ವಯಾ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠಪುತ್ರೇಣ ಯಯಾತಿರಿವ ತಾರಿತಃ.


ರಘುನನ್ದನ delight of the Raghu family, ರಾಮ Rama, ತೇ ಜನಕಃ your father, ಸಃ he, ರಾಜಾ the king, ಧನ್ಯಃ blessed, ಯಃ who, ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠಪುತ್ರೇಣ with the eldest son, ತ್ವಯಾ by you, ಯಯಾತಿರಿವ like Yayati, ತಾರಿತಃ is liberated.

O Rama, joy of the Raghu family! with the eldest son like you, your father is blessed and liberated like king Yayati.
ವಿದಿತೋ ಹ್ಯೇಷ ವೃತ್ತಾನ್ತೋ ಮಮ ಸರ್ವಸ್ತವಾನಘ৷৷3.13.17৷৷

ತಪಸಶ್ಚ ಪ್ರಭಾವೇಣ ಸ್ನೇಹಾದ್ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ ಚ.


ಅನಘ O sinless one, ತಪಸಃ of the penance, ಪ್ರಭಾವೇಣ by the power, ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ Dasaratha's, ಸ್ನೇಹಾತ್ due to love, ತವ your, ಏಷಃ this, ಸರ್ವಃ all, ವೃತ್ತಾನ್ತಃ facts, ಮಮ to me, ವಿದಿತಃ is known.

O sinless one, I have kown all these facts about you by the power of penance and love for Dasaratha.
ಹೃದಯಸ್ಥಶ್ಚ ತೇ ಛನ್ದೋ ವಿಜ್ಞಾತಸ್ತಪಸಾ ಮಯಾ৷৷3.13.18৷৷

ಇಹಾವಾಸಂ ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞಾಯ ಮಯಾ ಸಹ ತಪೋವನೇ.

ಅತಶ್ಚ ತ್ವಾಮಹಂ ಬ್ರೂಮಿ ಗಚ್ಛ ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀಮಿತಿ৷৷3.13.19৷৷


ತೇ your, ಹೃದಯಸ್ಥಃ of your heart, ಛನ್ದ: desire, ಮಯಾ by me, ತಪಸಾ by the power of penance, ವಿಜ್ಞಾತಃ is known, ಅತಃ therefore, ಮಯಾ ಸಹ with me, ಇಹ here, ತಪೋವನೇ in this penance-grove, ಆವಾಸಂ residence, ಪ್ರತಿಜ್ಞಾಯ after ensuring, ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀಮ್ to Panchavati, ಗಚ್ಛ you may go, ಇತಿ thus, ತ್ವಾಮ್ you, ಅಹಮ್ I, ಬ್ರೂಮಿ telling you.

I know your heart by virtue of my penance. I, therefore, ask you to proceed to Panchavati, after ensuring your stay here with me in this penance-grove for the time being.
ಸ ಹಿ ರಮ್ಯೋ ವನೋದ್ದೇಶೋ ಮೈಥಿಲೀ ತತ್ರ ರಂಸ್ಯತೇ.

ಸ ದೇಶಶ್ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯಶ್ಚ ನಾತಿದೂರೇ ಚ ರಾಘವ৷৷3.13.20৷৷


ರಾಘವ Raghava, ಸಃ that, ವನೋದ್ದೇಶಃ forest region, ರಮ್ಯಃ ಹಿ is delightful, ಸಃ ದೇಶಃ that place, ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯಶ್ಚ praiseworthy, ನಾತಿದೂರೇ ಚ and not far away, ಮೈಥಿಲೀ Maithili, ತತ್ರ there, ರಂಸ್ಯತೇ will enjoy.

O Raghava, that forest tract is delightful and beautiful. It is not far away(from here). Maithili (Sita) will enjoy her stay there.
ಗೋದಾವರ್ಯಾಸ್ಸಮೀಪೇ ಚ ಮೈಥಿಲೀ ತತ್ರ ರಂಸ್ಯತೇ.

ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಯಮೂಲಫಲಶ್ಚೈವ ನಾನಾದ್ವಿಜಗಣಾಯುತಃ৷৷3.13.21৷৷

ವಿವಿಕ್ತಶ್ಚ ಮಹಾಬಾಹೋ! ಪುಣ್ಯೋರಮ್ಯಸ್ತಥೈವ ಚ.


ಮೈಥಿಲೀ Maithili, ತತ್ರ there, ಗೋದಾವರ್ಯಾಃ of Godavari, ಸಮೀಪೇ nearby , ರಂಸ್ಯತೇ will enjoy, ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಯಮೂಲಫಲಶ್ಚೈವ roots and fruits are plenty there, ನಾನಾದ್ವಿಜಗಣಾಯುತಃ teeming with a kariety of birds, ಮಹಾಬಾಹೋ long- armed, ವಿವಿಕ್ತಶ್ಚ it is a solitary place, ಪುಣ್ಯಃ holy place, ತಥೈವಚ in the same way, ರಮ್ಯಃ is beautiful.

O long-armed Rama,that place has plenty of roots and fruits. It is a solitary, holy and beautiful place teeming with various kinds of birds. Sita will enjoy her stay in the vicinity of river Godavari.
ಭವಾನಪಿ ಸದಾರಶ್ಚ ಶಕ್ತಶ್ಚ ಪರಿರಕ್ಷಣೇ.

ಅಪಿ ಚಾತ್ರ ವಸನ್ರಾಮ ತಾಪಸಾನ್ಪಾಲಯಿಷ್ಯಸಿ৷৷3.13.22৷৷


ರಾಮ O Rama, ಭವಾನಪಿ you also, ಸದಾರಶ್ಚ accompanied by your wife, ಪರಿರಕ್ಷಣೇ in giving protection, ಶಕ್ತಶ್ಚ able, ಅಪಿ ಚ and so, ಅತ್ರ there, ವಸನ್ while living, ತಾಪಸಾನ್ ascetics, ಪಾಲಯಿಷ್ಯಸಿ you will protect.

O Rama, while staying with your wife, you will look after the ascetics living there since
you are capable of giving protection.
ಏತದಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಯತೇ ವೀರ ಮಧೂಕಾನಾಂ ಮಹದ್ವನಮ್.

ಉತ್ತರೇಣಾಸ್ಯ ಗನ್ತವ್ಯಂ ನ್ಯಗ್ರೋಧಮಭಿಗಚ್ಛತಾ৷৷3.13.23৷৷


ವೀರ O hero, ಏತತ್ this is, ಮಧೂಕಾನಾಮ್ of madhuka trees, ಮಹತ್ big, ವನಮ್ forest, ಆಲಕ್ಷ್ಯತೇ is seen, ಅಸ್ಯ its, ಉತ್ತರೇಣ northern side, ನ್ಯಗ್ರೋಧಮ್ banyan tree, ಅಭಿಗಚ್ಛತಾ while going towards, ಗನ್ತವ್ಯಮ್ you should go.

O valiant Rama! look at the great forest of madhuka trees. Walk north to the forest till you see a great banyan tree.
ತತಃ ಸ್ಥಲಮುಪಾರುಹ್ಯ ಪರ್ವತಸ್ಯಾವಿದೂರತಃ.

ಖ್ಯಾತಃ ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀತ್ಯೇವ ನಿತ್ಯಪುಷ್ಪಿತಕಾನನಃ৷৷3.13.24৷৷


ತತಃ there, ಸ್ಥಲಮ್ ground, ಉಪಾರುಹ್ಯ getting to the elevated, ಪರ್ವತಸ್ಯ of the mountain, ಅವಿದೂರತಃ not very far from there, ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀತ್ಯೇವ is Panchavati, ಖ್ಯಾತಃ well-known, ನಿತ್ಯಪುಷ್ಪಿತಕಾನನಃ where the forest is always in full bloom.

Then climb the elevated ground not very far from the mountain. There is the well-known Panchavati with forests, ever in full bloom.
ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯೇನೈವಮುಕ್ತಸ್ತು ರಾಮಸ್ಸೌಮಿತ್ರಿಣಾ ಸಹ.

ಸತ್ಕೃತ್ಯಾಮನ್ತ್ರಯಾಮಾಸ ತಮೃಷಿಂ ಸತ್ಯವಾದಿನಮ್৷৷3.13.25৷৷


ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯೇನ by Agastya, ಏವಮ್ thus, ಉಕ್ತಃ was said, ಸೌಮಿತ್ರಿಣಾ ಸಹ with Lakshmana, ರಾಮಃ Rama, ಸತ್ಯವಾದಿನಮ್ to the truthful, ತಮ್ that, ಋಷಿಮ್ sage, ಸತ್ಕೃತ್ಯ after worshipping with respect, ಆಮನ್ತ್ರಯಾಮಾಸ took leave .

Thus addressed by Agastya, Rama with Lakshmana paid respects to the sage wedded to truth and took leave of him.
ತೌ ತು ತೇನಾಭ್ಯನುಜ್ಞಾತೌ ಕೃತಪಾದಾಭಿವನ್ದನೌ.

ತದಾಶ್ರಮಾತ್ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀಂ ಜಗ್ಮತುಸ್ಸೀತಯಾ ಸಹ৷৷3.13.26৷৷


ತೇನ by him, ಅಭ್ಯನುಜ್ಞಾತೌ permitted, ತೌ both, ಕೃತಪಾದಾಭಿವನ್ದನೌ worshipping his feet, ಸೀತಯಾ ಸಹ along with Sita, ತದಾಶ್ರಮಾತ್ from that hermitage, ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀಮ್ to Panchavati, ಜಗ್ಮತುಃ proceeded.

Both of them worshipped the feet of sage Agastya, and proceeded to Panchavati with his permission.
ಗೃಹೀತಚಾಪೌ ತು ನರಾಧಿಪಾತ್ಮಜೌ ವಿಷಕ್ತತೂಣೌ ಸಮರೇಷ್ವಕಾತರೌ.

ಯಥೋಪದಿಷ್ಟೇನ ಪಥಾ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಣಾ ಪ್ರಜಗ್ಮತುಃ ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀಂ ಸಮಾಹಿತೌ৷৷3.13.27৷৷


ಸಮರೇಷು in wars, ಅಕಾತರೌ never frightened, ನರಾಧಿಪಾತ್ಮಜೌ two princes, ಗೃಹೀತಚಾಪೌ holding bows, ವಿಷಕ್ತತೂಣೌ tying the quivers, ಸಮಾಹಿತೌ made attentive, ಮಹರ್ಷಿಣಾ by the great sage, ಯಥೋಪದಿಷ್ಟೇನ as per the directions, ಪಥಾ by the path, ಪಞ್ಚವಟೀಮ್ to Panchavati, ಪ್ರಜಗ್ಮತುಃ proceeded.

Both the princes, unafraid of battles, held their bows, tied the quivers and carefully proceeded towards Panchavati along the path suggested by the sage.
ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಅರಣ್ಯಕಾಣ್ಡೇ ತ್ರಯೋದಶಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ৷৷
Thus ends the thirteenth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
