[Rama kills all the fourteen demons -- Surpanakha describes the killing to Khara.]

ತತಃ thereafter, ಘೋರಾ frightful, ಶೂರ್ಪಣಖಾ Surpanakha, ರಾಘವಾಶ್ರಮಮ್ Rama's hermitage, ಆಗತಾ came, ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾನ್ to the demons, ಸಹ ಸೀತಯಾ with Sita, ಭ್ರಾತರೌ brothers, ತೌ both, ಆಚಚಕ್ಷೇ spoke about.
The frightful Surpanakha came to the hermitage of Rama and showed both the brothers and Sita to the demons.

ತೇ they, ವೈದೇಹ್ಯಾಃ with Vaidehi, ಸಾರ್ಧಮ್ together with, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೇನ ಚ and with Lakshmana, ಪರ್ಣಶಾಲಾಯಾಮ್ in the leaf-thatched cottage, ಉಪವಿಷ್ಟಮ್ seated, ಮಹಾಬಲಮ್ a man of great strength, ರಾಮಮ್ Rama, ದದೃಶುಃ saw.
They saw mighty Rama together with Vaidehi and Lakshmana sitting in the leaf-thatched cottage.

ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ handsome, ರಾಘವಃ scion of the Raghu dynasty, ರಾಮಃ Rama, ಆಗತಾನ್ those who arrived, ತಾನ್ them, ತಾಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸೀಮ್ to the demoness, ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ seeing, ದೀಪ್ತತೇಜಸಮ್ blazing like fire, ಭ್ರಾತರಮ್ brother, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಮ್ to Lakshmana, ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ said.
Seeing the demons along with Surpanakha arrive, said the handsome Rama, scion of the Raghu dynasty to his brother Lakshmana, who was blazing like fire :
ಮುಹೂರ್ತಂ ಭವ ಸೌಮಿತ್ರೇ ಸೀತಾಯಾಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯನನ್ತರಃ.

ಸೌಮಿತ್ರೇ O Lakshmana, ಮುಹೂರ್ತಮ್ for a while, ಸೀತಾಯಾಃ to Sita, ಪ್ರತ್ಯನನ್ತರಃ stand by, ಭವ you may be, ಅಸ್ಯಾಃ her, ಪದವೀಮ್ in the way, ಇಹ here, ಆಗತಾನ್ those who came in, ಇಮಾನ್ these to, ವಧಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ will kill.
O Lakshmana ! stand by Sita for a while. I shall kill these demons who have come here.

ತತಃ then, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಃ Lakshmana, ವಿದಿತಾತ್ಮನಃ knower of the self, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ಏತತ್ this, ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ statement, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ after hearing, ತಥೇತಿ agreeing to, ರಾಮಸ್ಯ Rama's, ವಾಕ್ಯಮ್ statement, ಪ್ರತ್ಯಪೂಜಯತ್ in turn honoured.
Lakshmana heard him and in turn honoured the word of Rama, knower of the self.

ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ righteous man, ರಾಘವೋಪಿ Rama too, ಚಾಮೀಕರವಿಭೂಷಿತಮ್ decked with gold, ಮಹತ್ great, ಚಾಪಮ್ bow, ಸಜ್ಯಮ್ stringed, ಚಕಾರ made, ತಾನಿ those, ರಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ to the demons, ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ ಚ said.
Righteous Rama too, lifted up his great bow decked with gold and fastened the string and then said to the demons:
ಪುತ್ರೌ ದಶರಥಸ್ಯಾವಾಂ ಭ್ರಾತರೌ ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೌ.
ಪ್ರವಿಷ್ಟೌ ಸೀತಯಾ ಸಾರ್ಧಂ ದುಶ್ಚರಂ ದಣ್ಡಕಾವನಮ್৷৷3.20.7৷৷

ಆವಾಮ್ we both are, ದಶರಥಸ್ಯ Dasaratha's, ಪುತ್ರೌ two sons, ಭ್ರಾತರೌ two brothers, ರಾಮಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣೌ Rama and Lakshmana, ಸೀತಯಾ ಸಾರ್ಧಮ್ along with Sita, ದುಶ್ಚರಮ್ inaccessible, ದಣ್ಡಕಾವನಮ್ Dandaka forest, ಪ್ರವಿಷ್ಠೌ both have entered.
We, Rama and Lakshmana, sons of Dasaratha, are brothers, who have entered the inaccessible Dandaka forest along with Sita.
ಫಲಮೂಲಾಶನೌ ದಾನ್ತೌ ತಾಪಸೌ ಧರ್ಮಚಾರಿಣೌ.
ವಸನ್ತೌ ದಣ್ಡಕಾರಣ್ಯೇ ಕಿಮರ್ಥಮುಪಹಿಂಸಥ৷৷3.20.8৷৷

ಫಲಮೂಲಾಶಿನೌ both survive on fruits and roots etc, ದಾನ್ತೌ both are self-restrained, ಧರ್ಮಚಾರಿಣೌ both follow the righteous path, ದಣ್ಡಕಾರಣ್ಯೇ in Dandaka forest, ವಸನ್ತೌ living, ತಾಪಸೌ ascetics, ಕಿಮರ್ಥಮ್ why, ಉಪಹಿಂಸಥ torment.
Feeding on fruits and roots and following the righteous path, we are living in Dandaka forest like ascetics. Why are you torturing us?
ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ಪಾಪಾತ್ಮಕಾನ್ಹನ್ತುಂ ವಿಪ್ರಕಾರಾನ್ಮಹಾಹವೇ.
ಋಷೀಣಾಂ ತು ನಿಯೋಗೇನ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋಹಂ ಸಶರಾಯುಧಃ৷৷3.20.9৷৷

ಅಹಮ್ I, ಪಾಪಾತ್ಮಕಾನ್ sinners, ವಿಪ್ರಕಾರಾನ್ offenders, ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ you, ಆಹವೇ in war, ಹನ್ತುಮ್ to kill, ಸಶರಾಯುಧಃ equipped with bows, arrows and weapons, ಋಷೀಣಾಮ್ of ascetics, ನಿಯೋಗೇನ by their order, ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ came.
I came here equipped with bows, arrows and weapons, asked by ascetics to kill in the battle sinners like you who are offending them.
ತಿಷ್ಠತೈವಾತ್ರ ಸನ್ತುಷ್ಟಾ ನೋಪಾವರ್ತಿತುಮರ್ಹಥ.
ಯದಿ ಪ್ರಾಣೈರಿಹಾರ್ಥೋ ವಾ ನಿವರ್ತಧ್ವಂ ನಿಶಾಚರಾಃ৷৷3.20.10৷৷
ಯದಿ ಪ್ರಾಣೈರಿಹಾರ್ಥೋ ವಾ ನಿವರ್ತಧ್ವಂ ನಿಶಾಚರಾಃ৷৷3.20.10৷৷
ಸನ್ತುಷ್ಟಾಃ satisfied, ನಿಶಾಚರಾಃ demons, ಅತ್ರೈವ here only, ತಿಷ್ಠತಃ you may stay, ಉಪಾವರ್ತಿತುಮ್ to return, ನ ಅರ್ಹಥ you should not, ಯದಿ ವಾ or else, ಪ್ರಾಣೈಃ with life, ಅರ್ಥಃ purpose, ನಿವರ್ತಧ್ವಮ್ you may return.
If you care for your life, you may return, or else, if you please you may remain (die) here, O demons.
ತಸ್ಯ ತದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಸ್ತೇ ಚತುರ್ದಶ.
ಊಚುರ್ವಾಚಂ ಸುಸಂಕ್ರುದ್ಧಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಘ್ನಾಶ್ಶೂಲಪಾಣಯಃ৷৷3.20.11৷৷

ತಸ್ಯ his, ತತ್ ವಚನಮ್ those words, ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ on hearing, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಘ್ನಾಃ destroyers of brahmins, ಶೂಲಪಾಣಯಃ spears in hand, ತೇ those, ಚತುರ್ದಶ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಃ fourteen demons, ಸುಸಙ್ಕ್ರುದ್ಧಾಃ very angry, ವಾಚಮ್ words, ಊಚುಃ spoke.
At these words, the destroyers of brahmins, the fourteen demons were inflamed. They lifted their spears and spoke:
ಕ್ರೋಧಮುತ್ಪಾದ್ಯ ನೋ ಭರ್ತುಃ ಖರಸ್ಯ ಸುಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ.
ತ್ವಮೇವ ಹಾಸ್ಯಸೇ ಪ್ರಾಣಾನದ್ಯಾಸ್ಮಾಭಿರ್ಹತೋ ಯುಧಿ৷৷3.20.12৷৷
ತ್ವಮೇವ ಹಾಸ್ಯಸೇ ಪ್ರಾಣಾನದ್ಯಾಸ್ಮಾಭಿರ್ಹತೋ ಯುಧಿ৷৷3.20.12৷৷
ನಃ our, ಭರ್ತುಃ lord's, ಸುಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ of great, ಖರಸ್ಯ Khara's, ಕ್ರೋಧಮ್ wrath, ಉತ್ಪಾದ್ಯ causing, ಅದ್ಯ now, ಅಸ್ಮಾಭಿಃ by us, ಯುಧಿ in the fight, ಹತಃ killed, ತ್ವಮೇವ you alone, ಪ್ರಾಣಾನ್ life, ಹಾಸ್ಯಸೇ will give up.
You have incited the wrath of Khara, our great master for which you will now pay with your life in the fight.
ಕಾ ಹಿ ತೇ ಶಕ್ತಿರೇಕಸ್ಯ ಬಹೂನಾಂ ರಣಮೂರ್ಧನೀ.
ಅಸ್ಮಾಕಮಗ್ರತಃ ಸ್ಥಾತುಂ ಕಿಂ ಪುನರ್ಯೋದ್ದುಮಾಹವೇ৷৷3.20.13৷৷

ಬಹೂನಾಮ್ by many, ಅಸ್ಮಾಕಮ್ of us, ಅಗ್ರತಃ in front of, ರಣಮೂರ್ಧನಿ at the head of the battle, ಸ್ಥಾತುಮ್ to stand, ಏಕಸ್ಯ of one, ತೇ to you, ಕಾ ಶಕ್ತಿಃ where is the power, ಆಹವೇ in war, ಯೋದ್ಧುಮ್ to fight, ಕಿಂ ಪುನಃ why again.
How can you face us alone? We outnumber you? Leave alone fighting, you cannot even stand in front of us.
ಏಹಿ ಬಾಹುಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತೈರ್ನಃ ಪರಿಘೈಶ್ಶೂಲಪಟ್ಟಿಸೈಃ.
ಪ್ರಾಣಾಂಸ್ತ್ಯಕ್ಷಸಿ ವೀರ್ಯಂ ಚ ಧನುಶ್ಚ ಕರಪೀಡಿತಮ್৷৷3.20.14৷৷

ಏಹಿ come on, ನಃ us, ಬಾಹುಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತೈಃ by those dicharged by our arms, ಪರಿಘೈಃ by daggers, ಶೂಲಪಟ್ಟಿಶೈ spears with sharp, ಪ್ರಾಣಾನ್ your life, ವೀರ್ಯಂ ಚ prowess, ಕರಪೀಡಿತಮ್ held by hand, ಧನುಶ್ಚ the bow aslo, ತ್ಯಕ್ಷಸಿ will shun.
Come on! with daggers and sharp-edged spears hurled, you will give up your life,your prowess as well as the bow held in your hand.
ಇತ್ಯೇವಮುಕ್ತ್ವಾ ಸಙ್ಕೃದ್ಧಾ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಸ್ತೇ ಚತುರ್ದಶ.
ಚಿಕ್ಷಿಪುಸ್ತಾನಿ ಶೂಲಾನಿ ರಾಘವಂ ಪ್ರತಿ ದುರ್ಜಯಮ್৷৷3.20.15৷৷

Saying these words, the fourteen infuriated demons hurled their spears at invincible Rama.
ತಾನಿ ಶೂಲಾನಿ ಕಾಕುತ್ಸ್ಥಸ್ಸಮಸ್ತಾನಿ ಚತುರ್ದಶ.
ತಾವದ್ಭಿರೇವ ಚಿಚ್ಛೇದ ಶರೈಃ ಕಾಞ್ಚನಭೂಷಣೈಃ৷৷3.20.16৷৷

All the fourteen spears hurled turned into splinters by the same number of golden arrows released by Rama.

ತತಃ then, ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ effulgent, ಪರಮಕ್ರುದ್ಧಃ enraged, ಶಿಲಾಶಿತಾನ್ sharpened by stone, ಸೂರ್ಯಸನ್ನಿಭಾನ್ glowing like the Sun, ಚತುರ್ದಶ fourteen, ನಾರಾಚಾನ್ arrows, ಜಗ್ರಾಹ took.
Then the effulgent Rama, mighty angry, took fourteen arrows sharpened by stones and glowing like the Sun.
ಗೃಹೀತ್ವಾ ಧನುರಾಯಮ್ಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಾನುದ್ದಿಶ್ಯ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾನ್.
ಮುಮೋಚ ರಾಘವೋ ಬಾಣಾನ್ವಜ್ರಾನಿವ ಶತಕ್ರತುಃ৷৷3.20.18৷৷

ರಾಘವಃ Rama, ಧನುಃ bow, ಗೃಹೀತ್ವಾ on taking, ಆಯಮ್ಯ after stretching, ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಾನ್ the target, ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾನ್ the demons, ಉದ್ದಿಶ್ಯ aiming at, ಶತಕ್ರತುಃ like Indra, ವಜ್ರಾನಿವ like thunderbolt, ಬಾಣಾನ್ arrows, ಮುಮೋಚ released.
Rama took the bow, stretched it and aimed at his target, the demons and sent the arrows as Indra would release the thunderbolt.
ರುಕ್ಮಪುಙ್ಖಾಶ್ಚ ವಿಶಿಖಾ ದೀಪ್ತಾ ಹೇಮವಿಭೂಷಿತಾಃ.
ತೇ ಭಿತ್ತ್ವಾ ರಕ್ಷಸಾಂ ವೇಗಾದ್ವಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ ರುಧಿರಾಪ್ಲುತಾಃ.3.20.19৷৷
ವಿನಿಷ್ಪೇತುಸ್ತದಾ ಭೂಮೌ ನ್ಯಮಜ್ಜನ್ತಾಶನಿಸ್ವನಾಃ.

ರುಕ್ಮಪುಙ್ಖಾಃ feathered with gold, ದೀಪ್ತಾಃ blazing, ಹೇಮವಿಭೂಷಿತಾಃ decorated with gold, ತೇ those, ವಿಶಿಖಾಃ arrows, ವೇಗಾತ್ speedily, ರಕ್ಷಸಾಮ್ the demons, ವಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ their chests, ಭಿತ್ತ್ವಾ piercing, ರುಧಿರಾಪ್ಲುತಾಃ drenched in blood, ತದಾ then, ವಿನಿಷ್ಪೇತುಃ fell down, ಅಶನಿಸ್ವನಾಃ creating sounds like thunder, ಭೂಮೌ on earth, ನ್ಯಮಜ್ಜನ್ತ pierced into.
Gold-feathered blazing arrows decorated with gold, released by Rama flew fast and pierced the chests of the demons. Drenched in blood they (the arrows) thundered (out of their chests) and plunged into the earth.

Seeing the demons fallen on the ground, the demoness wild with anger and fear roared.

Her blood slightly dried up, she came back afflicted to Khara and fell down like a sallaki tree, its sap oozing.

Then desperately screaming and shedding tears with a sad face beside her brother, she roared again and again.
