రామాభిముఖమ్ approaching Rama, ప్రయాన్తమ్ marching towards, ఖరమ్ Khara, వాహినీపతిః chief of army, త్రిశిరాః Trisira, నామ by name, రాక్షసః demon, సన్నిపత్య going near, ఇదమ్ these words, అబ్రవీత్ spoke.
As Khara advanced towards Rama, Trisira the chief of the army approached him and said these words:
మాం నియోజయ విక్రాన్త సన్నివర్తస్వ సాహసాత్.
పశ్య రామం మహాబాహుం సంయుగే వినిపాతితమ్৷৷3.27.2৷৷

విక్రాన్తః valiant Khara, మామ్ me, నియోజయ assign, సాహసాత్ audacity, నివర్తస్వ put down, సంయుగే in the combat, వినిపాతితమ్ thrown down, మహాబాహుమ్ mighty-armed , రామమ్ Rama, పశ్య you can see.
O valiant one! assign this work to me. Refrain from this audacity. See how I am going to put down the mighty-armed Rama in the battle.
ప్రతిజానామి తే సత్యమాయుధం చాహమాలభే.
యథా రామం వధిష్యామి వధార్హం సర్వరక్షసామ్৷৷3.27.3৷৷

అహమ్ I, తే to you, సత్యమ్ truth, ప్రతిజానామి I promise, ఆయుధం చ on my weapon, ఆలభే I am touching, యథా as, సర్వరక్షసామ్ of all demons, వధార్హమ్ should be slain, రామమ్ Rama, వధిష్యామి I will kill.
I promise you on my weapon that I will kill Rama.He who killed all demons deserves to be slain.
అహం వాస్య రణే మృత్యురేష వా సమరే మమ.

రణోత్సాహాత్ from the enthusiasm to fight, వినివృత్య restraining, రణే in fight, అహమ్ I, అస్య his, మృత్యుః death, వా or, సమరే in war, ఏషః this person, మమ mine, ముహూర్తమ్ for a moment, ప్రాశ్నికః a judge భవ become.
Restrain yourself for a moment from the enthusiasm to fight the war. Please act as an arbitrator and see who is killing whom.
ప్రహృష్టో వా హతే రామే జనస్థానం ప్రయాస్యసి.
మయి వా నిహతే రామం సంయుగాయోపయాస్యసి৷৷3.27.5৷৷

రామే when Rama, హతే is killed, ప్రహృష్టః with joy, జనస్థానమ్ to Janasthanam, ప్రయాస్యసి వా you will go or else, మయి వా when myself, నిహతే am killed, సంయుగాయ to the fight, రామమ్ Rama, ఉపయాస్యసి వా you can fight.
If Rama is killed be happy and go to Janasthana or else if I am killed you can fight.

గచ్ఛ యుధ్యేత్యనుజ్ఞాతో రాఘవాభిముఖో యయౌ৷৷3.27.6৷৷

ఖరః Khara, తేన by him, త్రిశిరసా by Trisira, మృత్యులోభాత్ due to eagerness to face death, ప్రసాదితః persuaded, గచ్ఛ you may go, యుధ్య you may fight, ఇతి thus, అనుజ్ఞాతః permitted, రాఘవాభిముఖః forward to Rama, యయౌ he went.
When Khara was prevailed upon by Trisara in that manner with a wish to face death, Khara permitted him by saying 'You may go and fight'.Accordingly he advanced towards Rama.
త్రిశిరాశ్చ రథేనైవ వాజియుక్తేన భాస్వతా.
అభ్యద్రవద్రణే రామం త్రిశృఙ్గ ఇవ పర్వతః৷৷3.27.7৷৷

త్రిశిరాశ్చ Trisira also, వాజియుక్తేన horses harnessed, భాస్వతా shining, రథేనైవ in a chariot, త్రిశృఙ్గః three peaked Trishringa, పర్వతః ఇవ mountain like, రణే in war, రామమ్ Rama, అభ్యద్రవత్ attacked.
Trisira who looked a mountain with three peaks also got horses harnessed to a shining chariot and to attack Rama proceeded.
శరధారాసమూహాన్స మహామేఘ ఇవోత్సృజన్.
వ్యసృజత్సదృశం నాదం జలార్ద్రస్య తు దున్దుభేః৷৷3.27.8৷৷

సః that Trisira, మహామేఘ ఇవ like a huge cloud, శరధారాసమూహాన్ streams of arrows, ఉత్సృజన్ unleashing, జలార్ద్రస్య drenched with water, దున్దుభేః of the drum, సదృశమ్ similar, నాదమ్ sound, వ్యసృజత్ released.
Trisira unleashed a stream of arrows like a huge cloud (releasing rain). They produced sound, a drum drenched with water, creates.
ఆగచ్ఛన్తం త్రిశిరసం రాక్షసం ప్రేక్ష్య రాఘవః.
ధనుషా ప్రతిజగ్రాహ విధున్వన్సాయకాన్ శితాన్৷৷3.27.9৷৷

రాఘవః Rama, ఆగచ్ఛన్తమ్ advancing towards him, రాక్షసమ్ the demon, త్రిశిరసమ్ Trisira, ప్రేక్షయ observing, శితాన్ sharp, సాయకాన్ arrow, ధనుషా setting the bow, విధున్వన్ shaking, ప్రతిజగ్రాహ retaliated.
On seeing demon Trisira advancing towards him, Rama shook sharp arrows off his bow.

రామత్రిశిరసోః between Rama and Trisira, తుములః tumultuous, మహాన్ great, సః సమ్ప్రహారః that fight, అతీవ very, బలినోః strong ones, సింహకుఞ్జరయోః ఇవ as between a lion and an elephant, బభూవ took place.
The tumultuous combat between Rama and Trisira looked like the strong fight between a lion and an elephant.
తతస్త్రిశిరసా బాణైర్లలాటే తాడితస్త్రిభిః.
ఆమర్షీ కుపితోరామస్సంరబ్ధమిదమబ్రవీత్৷৷3.27.11৷৷

తతః then, అమర్షీ intolerant, రామః Rama, త్రిశిరసా by Trisira, త్రిభిః with three, బాణైః arrows, లలాటే on the forehead, తాడితః was hit, కుపితః a furious one, సంరబ్ధమ్ very agitated, ఇదమ్ this way, అబ్రవీత్ he said.
Then Rama hit with three arrows on the forehead by Trisira flew into a fury and said in a state of great excitement:
అహో విక్రమశూరస్య రాక్షసస్యేదృశం బలమ్.
పుష్పైరివ శరైర్యస్య లలాటేస్మిన్పరిక్షతః৷৷3.27.12৷৷

అహో Oh!, విక్రమశూరస్య of an undaunted hero, రాక్షసస్య of the demon, బలమ్ strength, ఈదృశమ్ this amount, యస్య his, శరైః with arrows, పుష్పైరివ with flowers, అస్మిన్ లలాటే this forehead, పరిక్షతః scratched.
Oh! see the strength of this undaunted demon whose arrows fell like flowers on my forehead and only left a scratch.
మమాపి ప్రతిగృహ్ణీష్వ శరాంశ్చాపగుణాచ్చ్యుతాన్.
ఏవముక్త్వా తు సంరబ్ధశ్శరానాశీవిషోపమాన్.3.27.13৷৷
త్రిశిరోవక్షసి క్రుద్ధో నిజఘాన చతుర్దశ.

మమ my, చాపగుణాతచ్చ్యుతాన్ released from the string of the bow, శరానపి arrows too, ప్రతిగృహ్ణీష్వ you may receive, ఏవమ్ in that manner, ఉక్త్వా having said, సంరబ్ధః agitated, క్రుద్ధః angry, అశీవిషోపమాన్ like the poison of a venomous snake, చతుర్దశ fourteen, శరాన్ arrows, త్రిశిరోవక్షసి on the chest of Trisira, నిజఘాన hit.
Receive the arrows released from my bow-string. Saying so, the angry and agitated Rama discharged fourteen arrows, venomous like a snake, on the chest of Trisira .
చతుర్భిస్తురగానస్య శరైః సన్నతపర్వభిః৷৷3.27.14৷৷
న్యపాతయత తేజస్వీ చతురస్తస్య వాజినః.
న్యపాతయత తేజస్వీ చతురస్తస్య వాజినః.
తేజస్వీ mighty man, సన్నతపర్వభిః with those having strong joints, చతుర్భిః with four, శరైః with arrows, తస్య his, అస్య his (Rama's), తురగాన్ swift, చతురః four, వాజినః horses, న్యపాతయత threw down.
With four arrows having strong joints, the mighty hero (Rama) threw down his enemy's four swift-footed horses.
అష్టభిస్సాయకైస్సూతం రథోపస్థాన్న్యపాతయత్৷৷3.27.15৷৷
రామశ్చిచ్ఛేద బాణేన ధ్వజం చాస్య సముచ్ఛ్రితమ్.

రామః Rama, అష్టభిః with eight, సాయకైః arrows, సూతమ్ charioteer, రథోపస్థాత్ from the top of the chariot, న్యపాతయత్ brought down, బాణేన by one dart, అస్య his, సముచ్ఛ్రితమ్ very lofty, ధ్వజమ్ banner, చిచ్ఛేద shattered to pieces.
Rama brought down the charioteer with eight arrows and with one tore down the lofty banner of the chariot to shreds.
తతో హతరథాత్తస్మాదుత్పతన్తం నిశాచరమ్৷৷3.27.16৷৷
బిభేద రామస్తం బాణైర్హృదయే సోభవజ్జడః.

తతః then, రామః Rama, తస్మాత్ from that, హతరథాత్ from a broken chariot, ఉత్పతన్తమ్ one who was running away, తం నిశాచరమ్ that demon, బాణైః with arrows, హృదయే in the chest, బిభేద hit, సః he, జడః a numb man, అభవత్ became.
Rama then hit the demon with arrows on his chest while he was running away from the broken chariot. The demon became numb.
సాయకైశ్చాప్రమేయాత్మా సామర్షస్తస్య రక్షసః৷৷3.27.17৷৷
శిరాంస్యపాతయద్రామో వేగవద్భిస్త్రిభిశ్శితైః.
శిరాంస్యపాతయద్రామో వేగవద్భిస్త్రిభిశ్శితైః.
అప్రమేయాత్మా a man of boundless strength, రామః Rama, సామర్షః an enraged one, వేగవద్భి: swift, శితైః with sharp ones, త్రిభిః three, సాయకైః with arrows, తస్య రక్షసః that demon's, శిరాంసి head, అపాతయత్ cut down.
The mighty Rama in fury dismembered the heads of that demon with three sharp and swift arrows.
స భూమౌ రుధిరోద్గారీ రామబాణాభిపీడితః৷৷3.27.18৷৷
న్యపతత్పతితైః పూర్వం స్వశిరోభిర్నిశాచరః.
న్యపతత్పతితైః పూర్వం స్వశిరోభిర్నిశాచరః.
రామబాణాభిపీడితః hit by the arrows of Rama, సః నిశాచరః that demon, రుధిరోద్గారీ vomitting blood, పూర్వమ్ a little while ago, పతితైః fallen down, స్వశిరోభిః with his heads, న్యపతత్ fell down.
The demon with his heads decapitated, hit by Rama's arrows a little while ago, fell down, vomitting blood.
హతశేషాస్తతో భగ్నా రాక్షసాః ఖరసంశ్రయా৷৷3.27.19৷৷
ద్రవన్తి స్మ న తిష్ఠన్తి వ్యాఘ్రత్రస్తా మృగా ఇవ.
ద్రవన్తి స్మ న తిష్ఠన్తి వ్యాఘ్రత్రస్తా మృగా ఇవ.
తతః then, ఖరసంశ్రయా under the protection of Khara, హతశేషాః surviving, రాక్షసాః demons, భగ్నాః with broken hearts, వ్యాఘ్రతస్తాః those scared of tiger, మృగాః యథా like deer, ద్రవన్తి స్మ fast retreated, న తిష్ఠన్తి did not stop.
Those surviving demons who were under the protection of Khara got scared and retreated fast and fled like deer frightened by a tiger.
తాన్ఖరో ద్రవతో దృష్ట్వా నివర్త్య రుషితస్స్వయమ్৷৷3.27.20৷৷
రామమేవాభిదుద్రావ రాహుశ్చన్ద్రమసం యథా.
రామమేవాభిదుద్రావ రాహుశ్చన్ద్రమసం యథా.
రుషితః angry, ఖరః Khara, ద్రవతః retreating, తాన్ them, దృష్ట్వా on seeing, స్వయమ్ personally, నివర్త్య turning them back, రాహుః Rahu, చన్ద్రమసం యథా as towards Moon రామమేవ towards Rama alone, అభిదుద్రావ ran after.
Personally persuading the fleeing army to come back, the angry Khara leaped forward towards Rama just as Rahu approaches the moon.
ఇత్యార్షే శ్రీమద్రామాయణే వాల్మీకీయ ఆదికావ్యే అరణ్యకాణ్డే సప్తవింశస్సర్గః৷৷
Thus ends the twentyseventh sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
