[Rama, Sita and Lakshmana meet sage Sarabhanga --- Rama enquires about Devendra's visit --- Sarabhanga advises Rama to go to the hermitage of Sutikshna --- with the desire to go to the world of the Brahman, Sarabhanga enters the fire.]

hatvā tu taṅ bhīmabalaṅ virādhaṅ rākṣasaṅ vanē.

tatassītāṅ pariṣvajya samāśvāsya ca vīryavān৷৷3.5.1৷৷

abravīllakṣmaṇaṅ rāmō bhrātaraṅ dīptatējasam.


vīryavān heroic, rāmaḥ Rama, bhīmabalam of terrific strength, rākṣasam demon, taṅ virādham that Viradha, vanē in the forest, hatvā on killing, tataḥ thereafter, sītām Sita, pariṣvajya embraced, samāśvāsya ca connsoled, dīptatējasam glowing like fire, bhrātaram brother, abravīt said.

On killing Viradha, the demon of terrific strength, heroic Rama embraced Sita, consoled her and said to his brother Lakshmana, glowing like fire:
kaṣṭaṅ vanamidaṅ durgaṅ na ca sma vanagōcarāḥ৷৷3.5.2৷৷

abhigacchāmahē śīghraṅ śarabhaṅgaṅ tapōdhanam.


idam this, durgam wild, vanam forest, kaṣṭam is difficult, vanagōcarāḥ uracquainted, na ca smaḥ we are not, śīghram quickly, tapōdhanam to the sage, śarabhaṅgam Sarabhanga, abhigacchāmahē we shall go.

This wild forest with which we have not been acquainted earlier is difficult to pass. (Hence) let us proceed quickly to sage Sarabhanga.
āśramaṅ śarabhaṅgasya rāghavō.bhijagāma ha৷৷3.5.3৷৷

tasya dēvaprabhāvasya tapasā bhāvitātmanaḥ.

samīpē śarabhaṅgasya dadarśa mahadadbhutam৷৷3.5.4৷৷


rāghavaḥ Rama, śarabhaṅgasya Sarabhanga's, āśramam hermitage, abhijagāma ha reached, dēvaprabhāvasya of divine grace, tapasā by penance, bhāvitātmanaḥ had realised his self, tasya śarabhaṅgasya that Sarabhanga's, samīpē nearby, mahat great, adbhutam wonderful phenomenon, dadarśa saw.

Rama went to the hermitage of Sarabhanga, a sage with divine grace who had realised the supreme (by his penance). Thus by the side of the sage he witnessed a huge wonder.
vibhrājamānaṅ vapuṣā sūryavaiśvānarōpamam.

avaruhyarathōtsaṅgādākāśē vibudhānugama৷৷3.5.5৷৷

asaṅspṛśantaṅ vasudhāṅ dadarśa vibudhēśvaram.

suprabhābharaṇaṅ dēvaṅ virajō.mbaradhāriṇam৷৷3.5.6৷৷

tadvidhairēva bahubhiḥ pūjyamānaṅ mahātmabhiḥ.


vapuṣā with his body, vibhrājamānam shining, sūryavaiśvānarōpamam like the Sun or the fire, rathōtsaṅgāt from the the lap of the chariot, avaruhya descending, ākāśē in the sky, vibudhānugama followed by the gods, vibudhēsvaram lord of the gods (Indra), vasudhām earth, asaṅspṛśantaṅ without touching, suprabhābharaṇam adorned with shining ornaments, virajō.mbaradhāriṇam wearing pure white clothes (that never got soiled), tadvidhairēva like him, bahubhiḥ many, mahātmabhiḥ by great souls, pūjyamānam worshipped, dēvam deity, vibudēśvaram lord of the gods (Indra), dadarśa witnessed.

Rama saw the lord of the gods (Indra) in the sky getting off the chariot, with his body shining brightly like the sun or the fire, followed by the gods, his feet untouched by the earth. Clad in spotless attire and adorned with shining ornaments, he was being worshipped by many great-souls like him.
haribhirvājibhiryuktamantarikṣagataṅ ratham৷৷3.5.7৷৷

dadarśādūratastasya taruṇādityasannibham.

pāṇḍurābhraghanaprakhyaṅ candramaṇḍalasannibham৷৷3.5.8৷৷


tasya from that place, adūrataḥ not far from, haritaiḥ by tawny-coloured, vājibhiḥ by horses, yuktam yoked with, taruṇādityasannibham shining like the rising sun, pāṇḍurābhraghanaprakhyam comparable to a pale-white cloud, candramaṇḍalasannibham shining like the lunar orb, antarikṣagatam found in the sky, ratham chariot, dadarśa witnessed.

Not far from that place, Rama saw a chariot, yoked with tawny-coloured horses, shining like the morning Sun. It looked like a pale-white cloud, resembling the lunar orb.
apaśyadvimalaṅ chatraṅ citramālyōpaśōbhitam.

cāmaravyajanē cāgryē rukmadaṇḍē mahādhanē৷৷3.5.9৷৷

gṛhītē varanārībhyāṅ dhūyamānē ca mūrdhani.


vimalam pure white, citramālyōpaśōbhitam decked with variegated flower garlands, chatram umbrella, agyrē in the forefront, rukmadaṇḍē golden staff, mahādhanē very costly, varanārībhyām by two excellent women, gṛhītē held, mūrdhani near the head, dhūyamānē fanning, cāmaravyajanē 'Chamara' made of yak's tail, apaśyat saw.

Rama saw a pure white umbrella with a highly expensive golden staff, decorated with variegated flower garlands.While near his (Indra's) head stood a pair of exquisite ladies with fans made of yak's tail.
gandharvāmarasiddhāśca bahavaḥ paramarṣayaḥ৷৷3.5.10৷৷

antarikṣagataṅ dēvaṅ vāgbhiragyrābhirīḍirē.


gandharvāmarasiddhāśca celestial musicians, gods and siddhas, bahavaḥ many, paramarṣayaḥ great sages, antarikṣagatam stationed in the sky, dēvam deity, agyrābhiḥ by choicest, vāgbhi: with words, īḍirē praised.

Many celestial singers of heaven, gods, great sages and siddhas sang with the choicest words the glory of this god stationed in the sky.
saha sambhāṣamāṇē tu śarabhaṅgēna vāsavē৷৷3.5.11৷৷

dṛṣṭvā śatakratuṅ tatra rāmō lakṣmaṇamabravīt.


vāsavē Indra, śarabhaṅgēna with Sarabhanga, saha sambhāṣamāṇē was conversing with, tatra there, śatakratum Indra, dṛṣṭvā seeing, rāmaḥ Rama, lakṣmaṇam Lakshmana, abravīt said.

While Indra was conversing with Sarabhanga, Rama saw him and said to Lakshmana.
rāmō.tha rathamuddiśya lakṣmaṇāyapradarśayan৷৷3.5.12৷৷

arciṣmantaṅ śriyā juṣṭamadbhutaṅ paśya lakṣmaṇa.

pratapantamivādityamantarikṣagataṅ ratham৷৷3.5.13৷৷


atha then, rāmaḥ Rama, ratham chariot, uddiśya pointing at, adbhutam wonderful one, bhrātuḥ brother, pradarśayan while showing, lakṣmaṇa Lakshmana, arciṣmantam effulgent, śriyā with grace, juṣṭam endowed with, adbhutam wonderful, pratapantam shining, ādityamiva like the Sun, antarikṣagatam in the sky, ratham chariot, paśya see,

Pointing at the chariot, Rama said, Lakshmana, see this wonderful, effulgent chariot endowed with grace is shining like the Sun in the sky.
yē hayāḥ puruhūtasya purā śakrasya naśśrutāḥ.

antarikṣagatā divyāsta imē harayō dhruvam৷৷3.5.14৷৷


puruhūtasya of Indra who is often invoked, śakrasya of Indra, yē those, hayāḥ horses, naḥ for us, purā earlier, śrutāḥ heard, tē those, harayaḥ horses, antarikṣagatāḥ stationed in the sky, divyāḥ wonderful, imē we, dhruvam surely.

The horses of Indra, who is often invoked (during sacrificial rituals) and about whom we have heard earlier, are now stationed in the sky.
imē ca puruṣavyāghrā yē tiṣṭhntyabhitō ratham.

śataṅ śataṅ kuṇḍalinō yuvānaḥ khaṅgapāṇayaḥ৷৷3.5.15৷৷

vistīrṇavipulōraskāḥ parighāyatabāhavaḥ.

śōṇāṅśuvasanāssarvē vyādhrā iva durāsadāḥ৷৷3.5.16৷৷

urōdēśēṣu sarvēṣāṅ hārā jvalanasannibhāḥ.

rūpaṅ bibhrati saumitrē! pañcaviṅśativārṣikam৷৷3.5.17৷৷


saumitrē! O Lakshmana, puruṣavyāghrāḥ finest among men, diśam abhitaḥ in each direction, yē those, śataṅ śatam in hundreds , kuṇḍalinaḥ wearing ear-rings, khaṅgapāṇayaḥ holding swords in their hands, vistīrṇavipulōraskāḥ broad-chested, parighāyatabāhavaḥ with iron beam-like strong arms, śōṇāṅśuvasanāḥ clad in red clothes, yuvānaḥ youth, imē sarvē all of them, vyāghrā iva like tigers, durāsadāḥ difficult to overpower, sarvēṣām all of them, urōdēśēṣu in their chest, jvalanasannibhāḥ flaming like fire, hārāḥ necklaces, pañcaviṅśativārṣikam of twentyfive years of age, rūpam appearance, bibhrati appear.

O Lakshmana ! around the chariot stand hundreds of finest young men of about twentyfive years. Clad in red robes, they are wearing ear-rings, and holding swords in their hands. They have broad chests and stout arms like iron beams. Like tigers, they are difficult to overpower. They have necklaces hanging on their chests blazing like fire.
ētaddi kila dēvānāṅ vayō bhavati nityadā.

yathēmē puruṣavyāghrā dṛśyantē priyadarśanāḥ৷৷3.5.18৷৷


priyadarśanāḥ men of delightful counterance, imē these, puruṣavyāghrāḥ best of men, yathā as, dṛśyantē they are seen, ētat this way perhaps, dēvānām for gods, vayaḥ age, nityadā always, constant bhavati kila remains verily.

These tigers among men have cheerful countenacess from which it can be deduced that the age of the gods always remains constant.
ihaiva saha vaidēhyā muhūrtaṅ tiṣṭha lakṣmaṇa.

yāvajjānāmyahaṅ vyaktaṅ ka ēṣa dyutimānrathē৷৷3.5.19৷৷


lakṣmaṇa Lakshmana, vaidēhyā saha along with Sita, muhūrtam for a moment, ihaiva here itself, tiṣṭha stay, yāvat until, aham I, rathē chariot, ēṣaḥ this person, dyutimān shining with brilliance, kaḥ (iti) who he is, vyaktam clearly, jānāmi I know.

Lakshmana, stay here with Sita awhile, until I ascertain who this dazzling being on the chariot is.
tamēvamuktvā saumitrimihaiva sthīyatāmiti.

abhicakrāma kākutstha śśarabhaṅgāśramaṅ prati৷৷3.5.20৷৷


ihaiva here only, sthīyatām stay, iti thus, taṅ saumitrim to that Lakshmana, uktvā having said, kākutstha: (Rama) of Kakutstha family, śarabhaṅgāśramaṅ prati to Sarabhanga's hermitage, abhicakrāma went.

Instructing Lakshmana to wait , Rama went towards Sarabhanga's hermitage.
tatassamabhigacchantaṅ prēkṣya rāmaṅ śacīpatiḥ.

śarabhaṅgamanuprāpya vivikta idamabravīt৷৷3.5.21৷৷


tataḥ then, śacīpatiḥ husband of Sachi (Indra), samabhigacchantam coming towards him, rāmam to Rama, prēkṣya seeing, śarabhaṅgam Sarabhanga, anuprāpya having reached, viviktē in private, idam this, abravīt said.

Then Indra (husband of Sachi) having seen Rama coming towards him, approached Sarabhanga and said this to him privately:
ihōpayātyasau rāmō yāvanmāṅ nābhibhāṣatē.

niṣṭhāṅ nayatu tāvattu tatō mā draṣṭumarhati৷৷3.5.22৷৷

jitavantaṅ kṛtārthaṅ hi tadāhamacirādimam.

karma hyanēna kartavyaṅ mahadanyaissuduṣkaram৷৷3.5.23৷৷


asau oh!, iha here, upayāti coming near, yāvat until, mām with me, nābhibhāṣatē he does not talk, tāvat in the mean while, niṣṭhām to some other place, nayatu take me, tataḥ wherefrom, mā not, draṣṭum to see, arhati is fit, jitavantam victorious one, kṛtārtham one who acomplished his task, imam him, aham I, acirāt in a short time, tadā then, anēna not possible, anyaiḥ for others, suduṣkaram very difficult, mahat great, karma task, kartavyaṅ hi remains to be accomplished.

Here comes Rama. Before he talks to me, take me to some other place from where he may not be able to see me. He has to do a great task which is difficult for others. I can see him when he accomplishes the taste and emerges victorious.
iti vajrī tamāmantrya mānayitvā ca tāpasam.

rathēna hayayuktēna yayau divamarindamaḥ৷৷3.5.24৷৷


iti in this way, arindamaḥ subduer of enemies, vajrī Indra, wielder of the thunderbolt, taṅ tāpasam that ascetic, āmantrya taking leave, mānayitvā honouring, hayayuktēna yoked with horses, rathēna in his chariot, divam heaven, yayau went.

This way honouring the sage Indra, wielder of the thunderbolt, took leave of him and went to heaven in his chariot harressed with horses.
prayātē tu sahasrākṣē rāghavassaparicchadaḥ.

agnihōtramupāsīnaṅ śarabhaṅgamupāgamat৷৷3.5.25৷৷


sahasrākṣē the thousand-eyed Indra, prayātē having departed, rāghavaḥ Rama, saparicchadaḥ along with his retinue (Sita and Lakshmana), agnihōtram fire- altar, upāsīnam sitting by the side, śarabhaṅgam Sarabhanga, upāgamat approached.

When Indra departed like that, Rama with his retinue (Sita and Lakshmana) went to Sarabhanga who was sitting by the side of the fire-altar (for Agnihotra).
tasya pādau ca saṅgṛhya rāmassītā ca lakṣmaṇaḥ.

niṣēdussamanujñātā labdhavāsā nimantritāḥ৷৷3.5.26৷৷


rāmaḥ Rama, sītā ca and Sita, lakṣmaṇaśca and Lakshmana, tasya Sarabhanga's, pādau feet, saṅgṛhya prostrated, labdhavāsāḥ on getting seats to sit on, nimantritāḥ invited, samanujñātāḥ responding to the instruction, niṣēduḥ sat down.

Rama, Sita and Lakshmana prostrated at Sarabhanga's feet. After being permitted to sit, they were invited to stay there.
tataśśakrōpayānaṅ tu paryapṛcchatsa rāghavaḥ.

śarabhaṅgaśca tatsaryaṅ rāghavāya nyavēdayat৷৷3.5.27৷৷


tataḥ then, rāghavaḥ Rama, śakrōpayānam reason for Indra's arrival, paryapṛcchat enquired, śarabhaṅgaśca Sarabhanga also, tat sarvam all that, rāghavāya to Rama, nyavēdayat narrated.

Thereafter on Rama's query Sarabhanga told him all about Indra's visit:
māmēṣa varadō rāma brahmalōkaṅ ninīṣati.

jitamugrēṇa tapasā duṣprāpamakṛtātmabhiḥ৷৷3.5.28৷৷


rāma O Rama, ēṣaḥ this god, ugrēṇa severe, tapasā austerity, jitam attained, akṛtātmabhiḥ by those who have not realised their self, duṣprāpam most difficult, brahmalōkama the world of Brahman, mām myself, ninīṣati wishes to take me.

O Rama, Indra, the bestower of boons, wants to take me to the world of Brahma, earned by me through severe penance which is most difficult to be attained by those devoid of self-realisation.
ahaṅ jñātvā naravyāghra vartamānamadūrataḥ.

brahmalōkaṅ na gacchāmi tvāmadṛṣṭvā priyātithim৷৷3.5.29৷৷


naravyāghra O best of men Rama!, aham I, priyātithim a very dear guest, tvām you, adūrataḥ nearby, vartamānam present, jñātvā after knowing, adṛṣṭvā without seeing, brahmalōkam world of Brahma, na gacchāmi I will not go.

O Rama, the best among men! you are a very dear guest to me and knowing that you are near, I will not go to the world of Brahman without seeing you.
tvayā.haṅ puruṣavyāghra! dhārmikēṇa mahātmanā.

samāgamya gamiṣyāmi tridivaṅ dēvasēvitam৷৷3.5.30৷৷


puruṣavyāghra! O best of men, aham I, dhārmikēṇa by a virtuous one, mahātmanā by a great soul, tvayā by yourself, samāgamya after meeting, dēvasēvitam abode of the gods, tridivam heaven, gamiṣyāmi I will go.

O Rama, the best of men ! (only) after seeing a great, virtuous soul like you shall I go to heaven, the abode of the gods.
akṣayā naraśārdūla! mayā lōkā jitāśśubhā.

brāhmyāśca nākapṛṣṭhyāśca pratigṛhṇīṣva māmakān৷৷3.5.31৷৷


akṣayā imperishable, naraśārdūla! O best men, mayā by me, śubhāḥ auspicious, brāhmyāḥ pertaining to Brahma's, nākapṛṣṭhyāśca pertaining to heavenly abode, lōkāḥ worlds, jitāḥ are conquered, māmakān all of them belonging to me, pratigṛhṇīṣva please accept.

O tiger among men, I have conquered heavenly abodes as well as the imperishable, auspicious worlds of Brahma. Accept them all that are mine (obtained through my penance)
ēvamuktō naravyāghrassarvaśāstra viśāradaḥ.

ṛṣiṇā śarabhaṅgēṇa rāghavō vākyamabravīt৷৷3.5.32৷৷


ṛṣiṇā by the sage, śarabhaṅgēṇa by Sarabhanga, ēvam in that way, uktaḥ said, naravyāghraḥ great Rama, sarvaśāstra viśāradaḥ knower of all sastras, rāghavaḥ Rama, vākyam these words, abravīt spoke.

To these words of sage Sarabhanga Rama, the best of men, the knower of all sastras, the scion of the Raghus replied:
ahamēvāhariṣyāmi sarvāṅllōkānmahāmunē.

āvāsaṅ tvahamicchāmi pradiṣṭamiha kānanē৷৷3.5.33৷৷


mahāmunē O great sage, ahamēva I myself, sarvān all, lōkān worlds, āhariṣyāmi will acquire, tu you, aham I, iha here, kānanē in the forest, pradiṣṭam directed, āvāsam reside, icchāmi intend.

O great sage, I will earn all the worlds myself if you direct me. But I need a proper dwelling-place in this forest.
rāghavēṇaivamuktastu śakratulyabalēna vai.

śarabhaṅgō mahāprājñaḥ punarēvābravīdvacaḥ৷৷3.5.34৷৷


śakratulyabalēna equal to Indra in strength, rāghavēṇa by Rama, ēvam in that way, uktaḥ said, mahāprājñaḥ sagacious, śarabhaṅgaḥ Sarabhangha, punarēva once again, vacaḥ these words, abravīt spoke.

To this request of Rama who was equal to Indra in strength, sagacious Sarabhanga said these words:
iha rāma mahātējāssutīkṣṇō nāma dhārmikaḥ.

vasatyaraṇyē dharmātmā sa tē śrēyō vidhāsyati৷৷3.5.35৷৷


rāma O Rama, iha here, araṇyē in the forest, mahātējāḥ briliant, dhārmikaḥ righteous, niyataḥ self-controlled, sutīkṣṇō nāma Sutikshna by name, vasati resides, saḥ he, tē to you, śrēyaḥ well-being, vidhāsyati will look to.

Here dwells in this forest a brilliant saint, righteous and self-controlled, Sutikshna by name who will look to your welfare, O Rama !
sutīkṣṇamabhigaccha tvaṅ śucau dēśē tapasvinam.

ramaṇīyē vanōddēśē sa tē vāsaṅ vidhāsyati৷৷3.5.36৷৷


tvam you, śucau in a sacred, dēśē place, tapasvinam an ascetic, sutīkṣṇam Sutikshnam, abhigaccha you may approach, saḥ he, ramaṇīyē in a delightful, vanōddēśē in the forest, tē to you, vāsam dwelling, vidhāsyati will provide.

You may approach sage, Sutikshna residing in a sacred spot. He will provide you a delightful place for your stay in the forest.
imāṅ mandākinīṅ rāma pratisrōtāmanuvraja.

nadīṅ puṣpōḍupavahāṅ tatastatra gamiṣyasi৷৷3.5.37৷৷


rāma O Rama, sa puṣpōḍupavahām carrying flowers and floats, imām this, mandākinīm river Mandakini, pratisrōtām against the current, anuvraja follow, tataḥ then, tatra there, gamiṣyasi you will reach.

Proceed, O Rama ! in the reverse direction of the river Mandakini carrying flowers and floats. And you will reach the place.
ēṣa panthā naravyāghra muhūrtaṅ paśya tāta mām.

yāvajjahāmi gātrāṇi jīrṇāṅ tvacamivōragaḥ৷৷3.5.38৷৷


naravyāghra O best among men, ēṣaḥ this is, panthāḥ path, tāta dear child, muhūrtam for a short time,
mām me, paśya you may see, yāvat meanwhile, jīrṇām wornout, tvacam slough, uragaḥ serpent, iva like that, gātrāṇi limbs, jahāmi I will shed off.

O Rama, the best among men, this is the way. Look at me for a while, my dear, until I shed my limbs just as a snake sheds its withered slough.
tatō.gniṅ sa samādhāya hutvā cājyēna mantravit.

śarabhaṅgō mahātējāḥ pravivēśa hutāśanam৷৷3.5.39৷৷


tataḥ then, mahātējāḥ effulgent, saḥ śarabhaṅgaḥ that Sarabhanga, agnim fire, samādhāya after kindling with faggots, ājyēna with ghee, mantravit knower of magical spells, hutvā ca after offering oblations, hutāśanam into the fire, pravivēśa entered.

Then the effulgent Sarabhanga, knower of mantras (magical spells) kindled the fire with faggots and after offering oblations of ghee plunged in.
tasya rōmāṇi kēśāṅśca tadā vahnirmahātmanaḥ.

jīrṇāṅ tvacaṅ tathā.sthīni yacca māṅsaṅ saśōṇitam৷৷3.5.40৷৷


tadā then, vahniḥ the fire, mahātmanaḥ of the great self, tasya his, rōmāṇi hair on the body, kēśāṅśca hair on the head, jīrṇām worn out, tvacam skin, tathā similarly, asthīni bones, yacya whatever, māṅsam flesh, saśōṇitaṅ ca along with blood.

Then were consumed that high-souled Sarabhanga's hair on the body and on the head, the worn-out skin, the bones and flesh along with blood.
sa ca pāvakasaṅkāśaḥ kumārassamapadyata.

utthāyāgnicayāttasmāccharabhaṅgō vyarōcata৷৷3.5.41৷৷


saḥ śarabhaṅgaḥ that Sarabhanga, pāvakasaṅkāśaḥ shining like fire, kumāraḥ youthful, samapadyata became, tasmāt from that, agnicayāt from that heap of fire, utthāya after emerging, vyarōcata looked splendid.

Sarabhanga then emerged youthful from that heap of fire, shining like a flame and looking very elegant৷৷
sa lōkānāhitāgnīnāmṛṣīṇāṅ ca mahātmanām.

dēvānāṅ ca vyatikramya brahmalōkaṅ vyarōhata৷৷3.5.42৷৷


saḥ that Sarabhanga, āhitāgnīnām of those who offer oblations to fire, mahātmanām of the great souls, ṛṣīṇāṅ ca of the sages, dēvānāṅ ca of gods, lōkān worlds, vyatikramya after going beyond, brahmalōkam world of Brahma, vyarōhata ascended.

Sarabhanga then went beyond the worlds of the gods, of the great sages who constantly kindle sacrificial fire, and ascended to the world of Brahman.
sa puṇyakarmā bhuvanē dvijarṣabhaḥ pitāmahaṅ sānucaraṅ dadarśa ha.

pitāmahaścāpi samīkṣya taṅ dvijaṅ nananda susvāgatamityuvāca ha৷৷3.5.43৷৷


puṇyakarmā performer of sacred deeds, saḥ that, dvijarṣabhaḥ best among brahmins, bhuvanē in the world, sānucaram with his followers, pitāmaham Brahma, dadarśa saw, ha verily, pitāmahaścāpi and Brahma too, taṅ dvijam to that brahmin, samīkṣya seeing, nananda rejoiced, susvāgatam iti welcome to you, uvāca ha spoke.

Sarabhanga, performer of sacred deeds, saw Brahma with his followers৷৷ Brahma also seeing Sarabhanga, the best among the brahmins, welcomed him gladly.
ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē araṇyakāṇḍē pañcamaḥ sargaḥ৷৷
Thus ends the fifth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
