[Kabandha gives Rama the direction to Rishyamuka-- disappears, bidding farewell to Rama and Lakshmana-description of nature at Pampa ]

nidarśayitvā rāmāya sītāyāḥ pratipādanē.

vākyamanvarthamarthajñaḥ kabandhaḥ punarabravīt৷৷3.73.1৷৷


arthajñaḥ one who knows the meaning, kabandhaḥ Kabandha, sītāyāḥ Sita's, pratipādanē finding means to restore, (ni)darśayitvā having shown, anvartham meaningful, vākyam words, punaḥ again, abravīt spoke.

Having shown Rama the means to find Sita, Kabandha spoke again these significant words:
ēṣa rāma śivaḥ panthā yatraitē puṣpitā drumāḥ.

pratīcīṅ diśamāśritya prakāśantē manōramāḥ৷৷3.73.2৷৷

jambūpriyālapanasaplakṣanyagrōdhatindhukāḥ.

aśvatthāḥ karṇikārāśca cūtāścānyē ca pādāpāḥ৷৷3.73.3৷৷

dhanvanā nāgavṛkṣāśca tilakā naktamālakāḥ.

nīlāśōkāḥ kadambāśca karavīrāśca puṣpitāḥ৷৷3.73.4৷৷

agnimukhyā aśōkāśca suraktāḥ pāribhadrakāḥ.


rāma Rama, yatra whereever, pratīcīm westward, diśam direction, aśritya taking, manōramāḥ delightful, puṣpitāḥ flowering, drumāḥ trees, jambūpriyālapanasaplakṣanyagrōdhatindukāḥ jambu trees , priyala trees, jackfruit trees, holy banyan trees and trees with red flowers, aśvatthāḥ holy fig trees, karṇikārāśca karnikara trees, cūtāśca mango trees, anyē ca and other, pādapāḥ trees,
dhanvanāḥ dry-land trees, nāgavṛkṣāśca different kinds of thorny trees, tilakāḥ tilaka trees, naktamālakāḥ trees that bloom at night, nīlāśōkāḥ ashoka trees of blue flowers, kadambāśca puṣpitāḥ kadamba trees in bloom, karavīrāśca karavira, agnimukhyāḥ agnimukhya, aśōkāśca ashoka, suraktāḥ red trees, pāribhadrakāḥ paribhadrakas, prakāśantē are shining, ēṣaḥ that is, śivaḥ auspicious, panthāḥ route.

O Rama! the delightful path going westward is auspicious for you. It is shining with trees in bloom. There are jambu (rose apple) trees, priyala trees, jack-fruit trees, banyan trees, plaksha trees (a tree from which milky latex oozes out), tinduka trees, holy fig trees, karnikaras (of red and white flowers), mango trees and other trees like dry-land, thorny trees, tilaka trees, trees that bloom at night, agnimukhya and asoka trees of blue flowers, kadamba trees, karavira trees, red ashoka trees, and paribhadraka trees.
tānāruhyāthavā bhūmau pātayitvā ca tānbalāt৷৷3.73.5৷৷

phalānyamṛtakalpāni bhakṣayantau gamiṣyathaḥ.


tān those trees, āruhya climbing, athavā or else, balāt with your strength, tān them, pātayitvā pulling them down, amṛta kalpāni nectar-like, phalāni fruits, bhakṣayantau while eating, gamiṣyathaḥ go ahead.

Climbing those trees or else pulling them down with your strength, both of you eat the nectar-like sweet fruits and proceed ahead.
tadatikramya kākutstha vanaṅ puṣpitapādapam৷৷3.73.6৷৷

nandanapratimaṅ cānyatkuravō hyuttarā iva.


kākutstha Kakustha, puṣpitapādapam trees with flowers in bloom, tat that, vanam forest, atikramya after crossing, nandanapratimam resembling Nandana gardens, uttarāḥ kuravaḥ iva like the north Kuru state, anyat another pleasure-garden.

O scion of the Kakutstha race ! proceeding further you will find another forest of the North Kuru state with trees in bloom resembling the pleasure-gardens of Nandana.
sarvakālaphalā yatra pādapāstu madhusravāḥ৷৷3.73.7৷৷

sarvē ca ṛtavastatra vanē caitrarathē yathā.


yatra there, sarvakālaphalāḥ fruits of all seasons, pādapāḥ trees, madhusravāḥ drip honey, tatra vanē in that garden, sarvē all, ṛtavaḥ seasons, caitrarathē yathā like the Chaitraratha.

The trees in that garden with fruits of all seasons drip honey. Like the Chaitraratha garden (of Kubera), it bears fruits of all seasons.
phalabhārānatāstatra mahāviṭapadhāriṇaḥ৷৷3.73.8৷৷

śōbhantē sarvatastatra mēghaparvatasannibhāḥ.


tatra there, phalabhārānatāḥ borne down by the weight of fruits, mēghaparvatasannibhāḥ like mountains and clouds, mahāviṭapadhāriṇaḥ trees with huge branches, śōbhantē look delightful.

The trees with huge branches bent down with fruits look like mountains or clouds.
tānāruhyāthavā bhūmau pātayitvā yathāsukham৷৷3.73.9৷৷

phalānyamṛtakalpāni lakṣmaṇastē pradāsyati.


lakṣmaṇaḥ Lakshmana, tān those, āruhya climbing, athavā or else, yathāsukham as you like, pātayitvā pull down, amṛtakalpāni nectar-like, phalāni fruits, tē to you, pradāsyati he can give you.

Lakshmana will get you the nectar-like fruits either by climbing the trees or by pulling them down.
caṅkramantau varāndēśānśailācchailaṅ vanādvanam৷৷3.73.10৷৷

tataḥ puṣkariṇīṅ vīrau pampāṅ nāma gamiṣyathaḥ.


vīrau two brave men, varān great, dēśān places, śailāt from one hill, śailam to another hill,
vanāt from one forest, vanam to another, caṅkramantau while going, tataḥ then, pampāṅ nāma named Pampa, puṣkariṇīm tank, gamiṣyathaḥ you will both reach.

O brave men, pass from hill to hill, forest to forest in great countries until you reach a lake named Pampa.
aśarkarāmavibhraṅśāṅ samatīrthāmaśaivalām৷৷3.73.11৷৷

rāma sañjātavālūkāṅ kamalōtpalaśālinīm.


rāma Rama, aśarkarām without stones or pebbles, avibhraṅśām or slipping, samatīrthām level slopes, aśaivalām without moss, sañjātavālūkām smooth beds of sand on the banks, kamalōtpalaśālinīm full of lotuses lilies.

The slopes of Pampa are without stones or pebbles, O Rama ! They are not slippery slopes. They are without moss. The water is neither deep nor shallow. It has smooth beds of sand on the banks and it is full of lotuses and lilies.
tatra haṅsāḥ plavāḥ krauñcāḥ kurarāścaiva rāghava৷৷3.73.12৷৷

valgusvanā vikūjanti pampāsalilagōcarāḥ.


rāghava O son of the Raghus, tatra there, pampāsalilagōcarāḥ moving in the waters of Pampa, haṅsāḥ swans, plavāḥ ducks, krauñcāḥ Krauncha birds, kurarāścaiva and curlews, valgusvanāḥ cackling, vikūjanti cooing.

Moving in the waters of Pampa you will see swans, ducks, krauncha birds and curlews cackling and cooing, O Son of the Raghus.
nōdvijantē narāndṛṣṭvā vadhasyākōvidāśśubhāḥ৷৷3.73.13৷৷

ghṛtapiṇḍōpamān sthūlāṅstāndvijānbhakṣayiṣyathaḥ.


vadhasya to be killed, akōvidāḥ not knowing, śubhāḥ auspicious, narān human beings, dṛṣṭvā after seeing, nōdvijantē do not get scared, ghṛtapiṇḍōpamān like balls of ghee, sthūlān fat, tān
them, dvijān killing, bhakṣayiṣyathaḥ can eat.

Not knowing that they may be killed, the innocent creatures will not be scared of human beings. Both of you can kill and eat the fat birds comparable to balls of ghee.
rōhitānvakratuṇḍāṅśca naḍamīnāṅśca rāghava৷৷3.73.14৷৷

pampāyāmiṣubhirmatsyāṅstatra rāma varānhatān.

nistvakpakṣānayastaptānakṛśānēkakaṇṭakān৷৷3.73.15৷৷

tava bhaktyā samāyuktō lakṣmaṇassampradāsyati.


rāghava scion of the Raghu dynasty, rāma Rama, tatra there, pampāyām in Pampa, iṣubhiḥ charging with arrows, hatān killed, varān choicest, nistvakpakṣān without scales and fins, ayastaptān baked on skewers made of iron, akṛśānēkakaṇṭakān fat ones with a single bone, matsyān fish, rōhitān rohita fish, vakratuṇḍāṅśca crooked-mouth fish, naḍamīnāṅśca huge fish, lakṣmaṇaḥ Lakshmana, bhaktyā with devotion, samāyuktaḥ is endowed, tava you, sampradāsyati will be able to give.

O Rama, scion of the Raghu dynasty ! there at Pampa, by shooting an arrow at the choicest fishes with a single bone, prawns and big fishes, crooked-faced fishes, fishes without scales and fins, baked on iron skewers and cooked will be offered to you by faithful Lakshmana.
bhṛśatē khādatō matsyānpampāyāḥ puṣpasañcayē৷৷3.73.16৷৷

padmagandhi śivaṅ vāri sukhaśītamanāmayam.

uddhṛtya satatākliṣṭaṅ raupyasphāṭikasannibham৷৷3.73.17৷৷

asau puṣkaraparṇēna lakṣmaṇaḥ pāyayiṣyati.


bhṛśam very delightedly, matsyān fish, khādataḥ while eating, tē to you, puṣpasañcayē in a place full of flowers, padmagandhi scent of lotuses, śivam beneficent, sukhaśītam cool, anāmayam healthy, satatākliṣṭam always clear, raupyasphāṭikasannibham resembling silver and crystal, vāri water, asau
lakṣmaṇaḥ this Lakshmana, puṣkaraparṇēna in lotus leaf, pāyayiṣyati will offer you.

While you delightedly eat the fishes, Lakshmana will fetch you water in a lotus leaf from the Pampa to drink. The waters of Pampa full of lotuses carry their scent, It is enjoyable, cool, healthy and clear, resembling silver and crystal.
sthūlāngiriguhāśayyānvarāhānvanacāriṇaḥ৷৷3.73.18৷৷

apāṅ lōbhādupāvṛttānvṛṣabhāniva nardataḥ.

rūpāvanitāṅśca pampāyāṅdrakṣyasi tvaṅ narōttama৷৷3.73.19৷৷


narōttama O best of men, sthūlān huge, giriguhāśayyān resting in the mountain caves, vanacāriṇaḥ forest-rangers, apām of waters, lōbhāt desire , upāvṛttān approaching, vṛṣabhāniva like bulls, nardataḥ roaring, rūpāvanitān delightful appearance, varāhān boars, pampāyām at Pampa, tvam you, drakṣyasi you will see.

O best of men! you will see huge boars of delightful appearance that roar like bulls resting in mountain caves, roaming in the forest and coming to Pampa for its water.
sāyāhnē vicaranrāma viṭapīnmālyadhāriṇaḥ.

śītōdakaṅ ca pampāyā dṛṣṭvā śōkaṅ vihāsyasi৷৷3.73.20৷৷


rāma Rama, sāyāhnē in the evening, vicaran while strolling, mālyadhāriṇaḥ laden with blossoms, viṭapīn trees, pampāyāḥ at Pampa, śītōdakaṅ ca cool waters also, dṛṣṭvā seeing, śōkam grief, vihāsyasi you will shake off.

When you stroll in the evening, you will see the trees laden with blossoms and lake Pampa full of cool water. You will forget your grief.
sumanōbhiścitāṅstatra tilakānnaktamālakān.

utpalāni ca phullāni paṅkajāni ca rāghava৷৷3.73.21৷৷


rāghava Son of the Raghus, tatra there, sumanōbhiḥ with flowers, citān full of, tilakān tilaka trees, naktamālakān night jasmine, phullāni blossoming, utpalāni ca water lilies, paṅkajāni ca otuses.

O son of the Raghus ! there you will see tilaka trees, night jasmines full of flowers. You will also see blossoming water lilies and lotuses in Pampa.
na tāni kaścinmālyāni tatrārōpayitā naraḥ.

na ca vai mlānatāṅ yānti na ca śīryanti rāghava৷৷3.73.22৷৷


rāghava Rama, tatra there, tāni mālyāni those garlands, ārōpayitā wearing, naraḥ man, kaścit any one, na not, mlānatām whithering, na yānti not become, na ca śīryanti they do not wilt,

There is no one to wear those flowers. Those garlands do not wilt or wither O Rama!
mataṅgaśiṣyāstatrā.sannṛṣayassusamāhitāḥ.

tēṣāṅ bhārābhitaptānāṅ vanyamāharatāṅ gurōḥ৷৷3.73.23৷৷

yē prapēturmahīṅ tūrṇaṅ śarīrātsvēdabindavaḥ.

tāni jātāni mālyāni munīnāṅ tapasā tadā৷৷3.73.24৷৷

svēdabindusamutthāni na vinaśyanti rāghava.


tatra there, susamāhitāḥ in a calm state, mataṅgaśiṣyāḥ seer Matanga's disciples, ṛṣayaḥ seers, āsan they were, gurōḥ of the preceptor, vanyam forest products, āharatām fetched, bhārābhitaptānām tired under the burden, tēṣām from their, śarīrāt from the body, yē those, svēdabindavaḥ drops of sweat, tūrṇam readily, mahīm on the earth, (pra)pētuḥ had fallen, tāni those, tadā then, munīnām of the sages, tapasā with penance, mālyāni flowers, jātāni grown, rāghava Rama, svēdabindusamutthāni sprung from the drops of sweat, na vinaśyanti not perish.

While drops of sweat from the bodies of sage Matanga's disciples fell on earth under the heavy load of forest products they carried for their preceptor, they remained in a calm state. Those drops of sweat turned into flowers and those flowers do not wither
due to the power of penance of the sages.
tēṣāṅ gatānāmadyāpi dṛśyatē paricāriṇī৷৷3.73.25৷৷

śramaṇī śabarī nāma kākutstha cirajīvinī.


kākutthsa Kakutstha, tēṣām for them, gatānām who had gone, paricāriṇī their attendant, cirajīvinī living for long years, śabarīnāma named Sabari, śramaṇī ascetic, adyāpi even now, dṛśyatē is seen.

O Kakutstha ! even now their attendant, named Sabari, an old ascetic is there even though they have left long ago.
tvāṅ tu dharmē sthitā nityaṅ sarvabhūtanamaskṛtam৷৷3.73.26৷৷

dṛṣṭvā dēvōpamaṅ rāma svargalōkaṅ gamiṣyati.


rāma Rama, nityam always, dharmē in rigteous ways, sthitā remaining, sarvabhūtanamaskṛtam revered by all beings, dēvōpamam god-like, tvām you, dṛṣṭvā seeing, svargalōkam heaven, gamiṣyati will go.

O Rama, she is established in righteousness, and you are god-like, and revered by all beings. When she sees you, she will attain heaven.
tatastadrāma pampāyāstīramāsādya paścimam৷৷3.73.27৷৷

āśramasthānamatulaṅ guhyaṅ kākutstha paśyasi.


kākutstha Kakutstha, rāma Rama, tataḥ thereafter, pampāyāḥ Pampa's, tat that, paścimaṅ tīram western bank, āsādya reaching, atulam incomparable, guhyam concealed, āśramasthānam site of hermitage, paśyasi you will see.

O Rama of the Kakutstha family, you will see on reaching the western bank of Pampa an incomparable site of hermitage concealed in a remote place.
na tatrākramituṅ nāgāśśaknuvanti tamāśramam৷৷3.73.28৷৷

vividhāstatra vai nāgā vanē tasmiṅśca parvatē.

ṛṣēstatra mataṅgasya vidhānāttacca kānanam৷৷3.73.29৷৷


tatra There, nāgā: elephants, tam that, āśramam hermitage, ākramitum to attack, na śaknuvanti not able, tasmin in that, parvatē in the mountain, vanē forest, vividhāḥ many, nāgāḥ elephants, tat that, kānanam the forest, tasya his, mataṅgasya ṛṣēḥ seer Matanga's, vidhānāt due to his command.

The elephants of the forest and on the mountains do not attack the hermitage forbidden by sage Matanga.
tasminnandanasaṅkāśē dēvāraṇyōpamē vanē.

nānāvihagasaṅkīrṇē raṅsyasē rāma nirvṛtaḥ৷৷3.73.30৷৷


rāma Rama, nandanasaṅkāśē like Nandana gardens, dēvāraṇyōpamē comparable to the garden of the gods, nānāvihagasaṅkīrṇē full of several kinds of birds, tasmin vanē in that forest, nivṛtaḥ giving up your grief, raṅsyasē you will enjoy.

O Rama, you will enjoy your stay in that forest which is like Nandana garden, the garden of the gods, full of various birds.
ṛṣyamūkaśca pampāyāḥ purastātpuṣpitadrumaḥ.

suduḥkhārōhaṇō nāma śiśunāgābhirakṣitaḥ৷৷3.73.31৷৷

udārō brahmaṇā caiva pūrvakālē vinirmitaḥ.


pampāyāḥ Pampa's, purastāt before, puṣpitadrumaḥ trees with flowers in bloom, suduḥkhārōhaṇaḥ quite difficult to climb, śiśunāgābhirakṣitaḥ protected by young elephants, udāraḥ exalted, brahmaṇā by Brahma, ṛṣyamūkaśca Rishyamuka, pūrvakālē in the past, vinirmitaḥ is created.

Mount Rishyamuka situated on the bank of Pampa has trees filled with blossoms. It
is difficult to climb and is protected by young elephants.This lofty mountain was created by Brahma in olden days.
śayānaḥ puruṣō rāma tasya śailasya mūrdhani৷৷3.73.32৷৷

yatsvapnē labhatē vittaṅ tatprabuddhō.dhigacchati.


rāma Rama, tasya of that, śailasya mountain's, mūrdhani on top, śayānaḥ while sleeping there, puruṣaḥ any man, svapnē in a dream, yat whatever, vittam wealth, labhatē obtains, tat that, prabuddhaḥ on waking up, adhigacchati will get.

Whatever wealth one dreams of in sleep on top of that mountain he will get on waking up, O Rama !
natvēnaṅ viṣamācāra pāpakarmā.dhirōhati৷৷3.73.33৷৷

yastu taṅ viṣamācāraḥ pāpakarmā.dhirōhati.

tatraiva prahaṟantyēnaṅ suptamādāya rākṣasāḥ৷৷3.73.34৷৷


viṣamācāraḥ a place of uneven terrain for movement, pāpakarmā sinner, ēvam so also, na adhirōhati cannot ascend, viṣamācāraḥ evil doer, pāpakarmā sinner, yaḥ whoever, tam him, adhirōhati ascends, suptam when asleep, tam him, ādāya taking, rākṣasāḥ demons, tatraiva there itself, praharanti strike at him.

If an evil-doer or a sinner ascends the (Rishyamuka) mountain, he, in his sleep, will be thrown down with asleep by the demons from there itself. A sinner does not climb this mountain of uneven terrain.
tatrāpi śiśunāgānāmākrandhaśśrūyatē mahān.

krīḍatāṅ rāma pampāyāṅ mataṅgāraṇyavāsinām৷৷3.73.35৷৷


rāma Rama, tatrāpi there also, pampāyām at Pampa, krīḍatām sporting, mataṅgāraṇyavāsinām for those inhabiting sage Matanga's forest, śiśunāgānām for baby elphants, mahān great,
ākranda: roaring sound, śrūyatē will be heard.

O Rama, the trumpeting of the young playful elephants inhabiting sage Matanga's forest can be heard at Pampa.
siktā rudhiradhārābhissaṅhṛtya paramadvipāḥ.

pracaranti pṛthakkīrṇā mēghavarṇāstarasvinaḥ৷৷3.73.36৷৷


mēghavarṇāḥ like dark rain-clouds, tarasvinaḥ swift, paramadvipāḥ great elephants, saṅhṛtya drawn together, rudhiradhārābhiḥ streams of ichor(red in colour) flowing from their body, siktāḥ are drenched, pṛthak separated, kīrṇāḥ scattered, pracaranti they wander.

The great, nimble elphants, dark like clouds, drenched with the flow of ichor come together and then separate and scatter.
tē tatra pītvā pānīyaṅ vimalaṅ śītamavyayam.

nirvṛtāssaṅvigāhantē vanāni vanagōcarāḥ৷৷3.73.37৷৷


vanagōcarāḥ wandering in the forest, tē they, vimalam pure, śītam cool, avyayam plenty, pānīyam water, pītvā drinking, nirvṛtāḥ contented, vanāni in the forest, (saṅ)vigāhantē plunge into.

The wandering elephants of the forest drink plentiful water, pure and cool, from Pampa and contented, plunge into the forest.
ṛkṣāṅśca dvīpinaścaiva nīlakōmalakaprabhān.

rurūnapētāpajayān dṛṣṭvā śōkaṅ jayiṣyasi৷৷3.73.38৷৷


ṛkṣāṅśca bears and, dvīpinaścaiva tigers, nīlakōmalakaprabhān shining like sapphire, apētāpajayān that which have not met with defeat, rurūn antelopes,dṛṣṭvā on seeing, śōkam grief, jayiṣyasi will get over.

When you see, shining like sapphires, the bears, tigers, antelopes who know no
defeat, you will get over your grief.
rāma tasya tu śailasya mahatī śōbhatē guhā.

śilāpidhānā kākutstha duḥkhaṅ cāsyāḥ pravēśanam৷৷3.73.39৷৷


kākutstha rāma Rama of the Kakutstha family, tasya śailasya of that mountain, śilāpidhānā covered with a slab, mahatī huge, guhā cave, śōbhatē looks beautiful, asyāḥ that cave's, pravēśanam entry, duḥkham difficult.

O son of the Kakutstha family, there is a beautiful cave in that mountain covered with a slab of stone. It is difficult to enter.
tasyā guhāyāḥ prāgdvārē mahānśītōdakō hradaḥ.

phalamūlānvitō ramyō nānāmṛgasamāvṛtaḥ৷৷3.73.40৷৷


tasyāḥ of that, guhāyāḥ cave's, prāgdvārē at the eastern entrance, śītōdakaḥ one with cool water, phalamūlānvītaḥ filled with fruits and roots, ramyaḥ delightful, nānāmṛgasamāvṛtaḥ surrounded by different kinds of animals, mahān great, hradaḥ lake.

At the eastern entrance of the cave there is a cool water-tank. On its bank teeming with various animals are delightful fruits and roots.
tasyāṅ vasati sugrīvaścaturbhissaha vānaraiḥ.

kadācicchikharē tasya parvatasyāvatiṣṭhatē৷৷3.73.41৷৷


sugrīvaḥ Sugriva, caturbhiḥ with four, vānaraiḥ saha along with monkeys, tasyām in that cave, vasati dwells, kadācit at times, tasya parvatasya the mountain's, śikharē top, avatiṣṭhatē stays.

Sugriva dwells in that cave with four other monkeys. At times he sits on the top of the mountain.
kabandhastvanuśāsyaivaṅ tāvubhau rāmalakṣmaṇau.

sragvī bhāskaravarṇābhaḥ khē vyarōcata vīryavān৷৷3.73.42৷৷


vīryavān courageous, sragvī wearing a flower garland, kabandhastu Kabandha, tau both, rāmalakṣmaṇau Rama and Lakshmana, ubhau both, ēvam in that way, anuśāsya telling them, khē bhāskaravarṇābhaḥ like the colour of the Sun, vyarōcata shone brightly.

Having instructed both Rama and Lakshmana, courageous Kabandha, wearing a flower-garland, shone brightly like the Sun in the sky.
taṅ tu khasthaṅ mahābhāgaṅ kabandhaṅ rāmalakṣmaṇau.

prasthitau tvaṅ vrajasvēti vākyamūcaturantikē৷৷3.73.43৷৷


prasthitau both set forth, tau rāmalakṣmaṇau both Rama and Lakshmana, antikē gone near, khastham he who stood in the sky, mahābhāgam glorious, taṅ kabandham that Kabandha, tvam you, vrajasva can go, iti thus, vākyam words said, ūcatuḥ both spoke.

Both Rama and Lakshmana, ready to depart, went near the glorious Kabandha waiting in the sky and said, You may go now.
gamyatāṅ kāryasiddhyarthamiti tāvabravītsa ca.

suprītau tāvanujñāpya kabandhaḥ prasthitastadā৷৷3.73.44৷৷


tadā then, prasthitaḥ set to go, saḥ kabandhaśca that Kabandha, suprītau both of them very pleased, tau both, anujñāpya took leave, kāryasiddhyartham to accomplish the task, gamyatām you may depart, tau both, abravīt said.

Then Kabandha said to the brothers satisfied, You may go now to accomplish your task. Then he took leave.
sa tatkabandhaḥ pratipadya rūpaṅ vṛtaśśriyā bhāskaratulyadēhaḥ.

nidarśayanrāmamavēkṣya khasthaḥ sakhyaṅ kuruṣvēti tadābhyuvāca৷৷3.73.45৷৷


saḥ kabandhaḥ that Kabandha, tat then, rūpam his true form, pratipadya after attaining, śriyā with radiance, vṛtaḥ surrounded, bhāskaratulya dēhaḥ his body shining like the Sun, khasthaḥ from the sky, rāmam Rama, avēkṣya seeing, nidarśayan while showing at, sakhyam friendship, kuruṣva make, iti this, tadā then, uvāca said.

Kabandha assumed his true form, his body shining like the radiance of the Sun. He stood in the sky showing his form and looking at Rama, said, Make friendship with Sugriva.
ityārṣa śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē araṇyakāṇḍē trisaptatitamassargaḥ৷৷
Thus ends the seventythird sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
