[Rama and Lakshmana reach Pampa-- admire the beautiful nature on the banks of Pampa.]

దివం తు తస్యాం యాతాయాం శబర్యాం స్వేన తేజసా.

లక్ష్మణేన సహ భ్రాత్రా చిన్తయామాస రాఘవః৷৷3.75.1৷৷


తస్యామ్ when she, శబర్యామ్ Sabari, స్వేన తేజసా by her own brilliance, దివమ్ heavens, యాతాయామ్ on departing, రాఘవః Rama, భ్రాత్రా with his brother, లక్ష్మణేన సహ with Lakshmana, చిన్తయామాస contemplated.

When Sabari departed for heaven with her brilliance, Rama contemplated (about the power of sages)with Lakshmana.
స చిన్తయిత్వా ధర్మాత్మా ప్రభావం తం మహాత్మనామ్.

హితకారిణమేకాగ్రం లక్ష్మణం రాఘవోబ్రవీత్৷৷3.75.2৷৷


ధర్మాత్మా righteous, సః రాఘవః Rama, మహాత్మనామ్ of great sages, ప్రభావమ్ power, చిన్తయిత్వా on thinking over, హితకారిణమ్ his well-wisher, ఏకాగ్రమ్ with single-minded devotion, లక్ష్మణమ్ to Lakshmana, అబ్రవీత్ said.

Thinking about the power of the great sages, righteous Rama said to Lakshmana, his well-wisher with single-minded devotion:
దృష్టోయమాశ్రమస్సౌమ్య బహ్వాశ్చర్యో మహాత్మనామ్.

విశ్వస్తమృగశార్దూలో నానావిహగసేవితః৷৷3.75.3৷৷


సౌమ్య O handsome one ! మహాత్మనామ్ of the great sages, బహ్వాశ్చర్యః very wonderful, విశ్వస్తమృగశార్దూలః deer and tigers live together with implicit faith, నానావిహగసేవితః where birds of all kinds dwell, అయమ్ ఆశ్రమః this hermitage, దృష్టః seen.

O handsome one, we have seen this highly wonderful hermitage, where deer and tigers dwell together with mutual confidence, where birds of all kinds inhabit.
సప్తానాం చ సముద్రాణామేషు తీర్థేషు లక్ష్మణ.

ఉపస్పృష్టం చ విధివత్పితరశ్చాపి తర్పితాః৷৷3.75.4৷৷


లక్ష్మణ Lakshmana, సప్తానామ్ of seven, సముద్రాణామ్ of seas, ఏషు తీర్థేషు in these waters, ఉపస్పృష్టమ్ having bathed, పితరశ్చాపి oblations to forefathers, విధివత్ in accordance with tradition, తర్పితాః have been invoked with offering.

O Lakshmana, having bathed in the waters of the seven seas (by taking ritualistic bath in these waters) the manes are offered oblations in accordance with tradition.
ప్రణష్టమశుభం తత్తత్కల్యాణం సముపస్థితమ్.

తేన తత్త్వేన హృష్టం మే మనో లక్ష్మణ సమ్ప్రతి৷৷3.75.5৷৷

హృదయే హి నరవ్యాఘ్ర శుభమావిర్భవిష్యతి.


అశుభమ్ inauspicious time, ప్రణష్టమ్ is got rid of, తత్తత్ respectively, కల్యాణమ్ auspicious tidings, సముపస్థితమ్ have reached, లక్ష్మణ O Lakshmana, తేన therefore, తత్త్వేన truly, సమ్ప్రతి presently, మనః mind, హృష్టమ్ happy, నరవ్యాఘ్ర O best among men, హృదయే at heart, శుభమ్ good fortune, ఆవిర్భవిష్యతి హి will appear now.

We have got rid of inauspicious time and good days have come. Therefore, I feel truly happy. Good fortune will appear (now), O Lakshmana, O tiger among men !
తదాగచ్ఛ గమిష్యామి పమ్పాం తాం ప్రియదర్శనామ్৷৷3.75.6৷৷

ఋష్యమూకో గిరిర్యత్ర నాతిదూరే ప్రకాశతే.

యస్మిన్వసతి ధర్మాత్మా సుగ్రీవోంశుమతస్సుతః৷৷3.75.7৷৷

నిత్యం వాలిభయాత్త్రస్తశ్చతుర్భిస్సహ వానరైః.


తత్ therefore, ధర్మాత్మా the righteous soul, అంశుమతః సుతః son of the Sun, సుగ్రీవః Sugriva, నిత్యమ్ ever, వాలిభయాత్ by the fear of Vali, చతుర్భిః with four, వానరైః సహ along with monkeys, యస్మిన్ in which, వసతి stay, ఋష్యమూక: Rishyamuka, యత్ర there, నాతిదూరే not very far away, ప్రకాశతే shines, తామ్ that, ప్రియదర్శనామ్ pleasing to look at, పమ్పామ్ Pampa, గమిష్యామి I will go, ఆగచ్ఛ you may come along.

Come, let us go to Pampa, which is pleasing to look at. Sugriva, the rigteous self, the son of the Sun has been staying for fear of Vali at the shining Rishyamuka, not far from here.
అభిత్వరే చ తం ద్రష్టుం సుగ్రీవం వానరర్షభమ్৷৷3.75.8৷৷

తదధీనం హి మే సౌమ్య సీతాయాః పరిమార్గణమ్.


సౌమ్య O handsome one, వానరర్షభమ్ mighty among the monkeys, తం సుగ్రీవమ్ that Sugriva, ద్రష్టుమ్ to see, అభిత్వరే చ I am in haste, సీతాయాః of Sita, పరిమార్గణమ్ searching, తదధీనమ్ depends on him.

I am hastening to see that noble Sugriva the mighty monkey, as the search for Sita depends on him, O handsome one !
ఏవం బ్రువాణం తం ధీరం రామం సౌమిత్రిరబ్రవీత్৷৷3.75.9৷৷

గచ్ఛావస్త్వరితం తత్ర మమాపి త్వరతే మనః.


ఏవమ్ in that way, బ్రువాణమ్ as he spoke, ధీరమ్ stable-minded one, తం రామమ్ to that Rama, సౌమిత్రిః Soumitri, అబ్రవీత్ said, మమ my, మనః ఆపి mind also, త్వరతే hurrying, త్వరితమ్ quickly, తత్ర there, గచ్ఛావః we both will go.

To the words of Rama who was of stable mind, Lakshmana replied : My mind too is hastening me. Let us get there quickly.
ఆశ్రమాత్తు తత స్తస్మాన్నిష్క్రమ్య స విశామ్పతిః৷৷3.75.10৷৷

ఆజగామ తతః పమ్పాం లక్ష్మణేన సహ ప్రభుః.


తతః then, విశామ్పతిః lord of men, సః he, ప్రభుః lord, తస్మాత్ from that, ఆశ్రమాత్ from that hermitage, నిష్క్రమ్య on departing , తతః then, లక్ష్మణేన సహ with Lakshmana, పమ్పామ్ to Pampa, ఆజగామ went.

Then Rama the lord of men along with Lakshmana departed from the hermitage and went to Pampa.
స దదర్శ తతః పుణ్యాముదారజనసేవితామ్৷৷3.75.11৷৷

నానాద్రుమలతాకీర్ణాం పమ్పాం పానీయవాహినీమ్.

పద్మైస్సౌగన్ధికైస్తామ్రాం శుక్లాం కుముదమణ్డలైః৷৷3.75.12৷৷

నీలాం కువలయోద్ఘాటైర్బహువర్ణాం కుథామివ.


తతః then, సః he, పుణ్యామ్ that sacred, ఉదారజనసేవితామ్ the place where exalted seers lived, నానాద్రుమలతాకీర్ణామ్ abounding in different kinds of trees and creepers, పానీయవాహినీమ్ with flow of waters, సౌగన్ధికైః sweet-scented, పద్మైః lotuses, తామ్రామ్ red, కుముదమణ్డలైః with clusters of lilies, శుక్లామ్ white, కువలయోద్ఘాటైః with blue water-lilies, నీలామ్ blue lotuses, బహువర్ణామ్ with variegated colours, కుథామివ like a carpet, పమ్పామ్ Pampa lake, దదర్శ saw.

He saw the sacred lake Pampa whose sweet flow of water was used by great seers. It abounded in trees and creepers. Its surface was red with lotuses at one place, white with clusters of lilies at another and with blue lotuses at other places. As such, it looked like a carpet with variegated colours.
స తామాసాద్య వై రామో దూరాదుదకవాహినీమ్৷৷3.75.13৷৷

మతఙ్గసరసం నామ హ్రదం సమవగాహత.


సః రామః Rama, ఉదకవాహినీమ్ lake, తామ్ that one, దూరాత్ from a distance, ఆసాద్య reached, మతఙ్గసరసం నామ a place called Matanga lake, హ్రదమ్ pond,సమవగాహత bathed.

Rama reached the Matanga lake which he could see from a distance and bathed in it.
అరవిన్దోత్పలవతీం పద్మసౌగన్ధికాయుతామ్৷৷3.75.14৷৷

పుష్పితామ్రవణోపేతాం బర్హిణోద్ఘుష్టనాదితామ్.

తిలకైర్బీజపూరైశ్చ ధవైశ్శుక్లద్రుమైస్తథా৷৷3.75.15৷৷

పుష్పితైః కరవీరైశ్చ పున్నాగైశ్చ సుపుష్పితైః.

మాలతీకున్దగుల్మైశ్చ భాణ్డీరైర్నిచులైస్తథా৷৷3.75.16৷৷

అశోకైస్సప్తపర్ణైశ్చ కేతకైరతిముక్తకైః.

అన్యైశ్చ వివిధైర్వృక్షైః ప్రమదామివ భూషితామ్৷৷3.75.17৷৷

సమీక్షమాణౌ పుషపాఢ్యం సర్వతో విపులద్రుమమ్.

కోయష్టికైశ్చార్జునకైశ్శతపత్రైశ్చ కీరకైః৷৷3.75.18৷৷

ఏతైశ్చాన్యైశ్చ విహగైర్నాదితం తు వనం మహత్.

తతో జగ్మతురవ్యగ్రౌ రాఘవౌ సుసమాహితౌ৷৷3.75.19৷৷

తద్వనం చైవ సరసః పశ్యన్తై శకునైర్యుతమ్.


తతః thereafter, రాఘవౌ Rama and Lakshmana, అరవిన్దోత్పలవతీమ్ having lilies and lotuses, పద్మసౌగన్ధికాయుతామ్ filled with fragrance of lotuses, పుష్పితామ్రవణోపేతామ్ with blossoming mango trees, బర్హిణోద్ఘుష్టనాదితామ్ resounding with the shrill by of peacocks, తిలకైః with tilaka trees, బీజపూరైశ్చ trees with fruits full of seeds, ధవైః dhava trees, తథా so also, శుక్లద్రుమైః white trees, పుష్పితైః in bloom, కరవీరైశ్చ with karaviras, సుపుష్పితైః loaded with flowers, పున్నాగైశ్చ with punnaga trees, మాలతీకున్దగుల్మైశ్చ with clusters of jasmine and kunda shrubs, భాణ్డీరైః with fig trees, తథా so also, నిచులైః with reeds, అశోకైః with asoka, అతిముక్తకైః with atimukta shrubs, అన్యైః and other, వివిధైః several, వృక్షైశ్చ trees, భూషితామ్ adorned, ప్రమదామివ like a woman, సర్వతః all over, సమీక్షమాణౌ glancing at them, పుష్పాఢ్యమ్ with abundance of flowers, విపులద్రుమమ్ having great trees, కోయష్టికైశ్చ with koyashtikas, అర్జునకైః
arjuna trees, శతపత్రైః peacocks, కీరకైః parrots, ఏతైః all those, అన్యైః others, విహగైశ్చ with birds, నాదితమ్ full of sounds, మహత్ great, శకునైః with birds, యుతమ్ with, వనమ్ forest, పశ్యన్తౌ seeing, అవ్యగ్రౌ both unruffled, సుసమాహితౌ both composed, సరసః tank, తత్ that, వనమ్ forest, జగ్మతుః both went.

Lake Pampa was filled with red lotuses and their fragrance.The bank was lined with blossoming mango trees and trees of several kinds like tilaka trees with fruits full of seeds like citron, dhava trees, white trees in bloom, karavira trees loaded with flowers, punnaga trees, clusters of jasmine and kunda shrubs, fig trees, so also reeds, ashoka trees, atimuktaka creepors and several other trees looking like women adorned all over. Rama and Lakshmana passed by, glancing at them. There were other trees full of flowers, huge trees, koyashtika trees with reed. Different kinds of birds such as peacocks, parrots, dwelling in the forest were screaming aloud. Looking at all these in that forest Rama and Lakshmana passed by undisturbed with a composed mind.
స దదర్శ తతః పమ్పాం శీతవారినిధిం శుభామ్৷৷3.75.20৷৷

తిలకాశోకపున్నాగవకులోద్దాలకాశినీమ్.


తతః then, సః Rama, శీతవారినిధిమ్ a bed of cool waters, శుభామ్ auspicious one, తిలకాశోకపున్నాగ with tilaka, asoka, punnaga trees, వకులోద్దాలకాశినీమ్ groves shining with vakula, uddala trees, పమ్పామ్ Pampa, దదర్శ saw.

Rama saw lake Pampa with cool waters and the groves on the bank filled with tilaka, ashoka, punnaga, bakula and uddala trees.
స రామో వివిధాన్వృక్షాన్సరాంసి వివిధాని చ৷৷3.75.21৷৷

పశ్యన్కామాభిసన్తప్తో జగామ పరమం హ్రదమ్.


సః that, రామః Rama, వివిధాన్ several, వృక్షాన్ trees, వివిధాని different, సరాంసి tanks, పశ్యన్ seeing, కామాభిసన్తప్తః love-striken, పరమమ్ great, హ్రదమ్ lake, జగామ went.

On seeing different kinds of trees and tanks, the love-striken Rama visited that great lake.
పుష్పితోపవనోపేతాం సాలచమ్పకశోభితామ్৷৷3.75.22৷৷

షట్పదౌఘసమావిష్టాం శ్రీమతీమతులప్రభామ్.

స్ఫటికోపమతోయాఢ్యాం శ్లక్ష్ణవాలుకసన్తతామ్৷৷3.75.23৷৷

స తాం దృష్ట్వా పునః పమ్పాం పద్మసౌగన్ఘికైర్యుతామ్.

ఇత్యువాచ తదా వాక్యం లక్ష్మణం సత్యవిక్రమః৷৷3.75.24৷৷


సత్యవిక్రమః whose strength was truth, సః Rama, పుష్పితోపవనోపేతామ్ with pleasure-gardens in full bloom, సాలచమ్పకశోభితామ్ beautiful with sal and champak trees, షట్పదౌఘసమావిష్టామ్ filled with honeybees, శ్రీమతీమ్ lovely one, అతులప్రభామ్ full of incomparable brilliance, స్ఫటికోపమతోయాఢ్యామ్ with crystal-clear water, శ్లక్ష్ణవాలుకసన్తతామ్ soft sands that gleamed, పద్మసౌగన్ధికైః with fragrant lotuses, యుతామ్ filled, తామ్ that, పునః again, దృష్ట్వా seeing, తదా then, లక్ష్మణమ్ to Lakshmana, ఇతి thus, వాక్యమ్ words, ఉవాచ said.

There were lovely pleasure-gardens in full bloom filled with sal and champk trees. Honeybees on flowers looked lovely and bright. The waters were crystal-clear and fragrant with lotuses.The soft sands on the banks of Pampa gleamed. Rama saw them again and again and described them to Lakshmana.
అస్యాస్తీరే తు పూర్వోక్తః పర్వతో ధాతుమణ్డితః.

ఋష్యమూక ఇతి ఖ్యాతః పుణ్యః పుష్పితపాదపః৷৷3.75.25৷৷


పూర్వోక్తః referred earlier, ధాతుమణ్డితః adorned with minerals, పుణ్యః sacred, పుష్పితపాదపః having trees with flowers in bloom, ఋష్యమూకః ఇతి Rishyamuka by name, ఖ్యాతః famous, పర్వతః mountain, అస్యాః its, తీరే on the bank.

The famous mount, sacred Rishyamuka is situated on the bank of Pampa full of blossoming trees.
హరేః ఋక్షరజోనామ్నః పుత్రస్తస్య మహాత్మనః.

అధ్యాస్తే తం మహావీర్యస్సుగ్రీవ ఇతి విశ్రుతః৷৷3.75.26৷৷


ఋక్షరజోనామ్నః of Riksharaja by name, మహాత్మనః of the great soul, తస్య his, హరేః Sun's, పుత్రః son, మహావీర్యః mighty, సుగ్రీవః ఇతి known as Sugriva, విశ్రుతః very well-known, తమ్ him, అధ్యాస్తే is residing.

The mighty son of Riksharaja, the great soul, the Sun whose son was the well-known Sugriva, resides on this mountain.
సుగ్రీవమభిగచ్ఛ త్వం వానరేన్ద్రం నరర్షభ.

ఇత్యువాచ పునర్వాక్యం లక్ష్మణం సత్యవిక్రమమ్৷৷3.75.27৷৷


నరర్షభ best among men, త్వమ్ you, వానరేన్ద్రమ్ to the lord of monkeys, సుగ్రీవమ్ to Sugriva, అభిగచ్ఛ approach, పునః again, లక్ష్మణమ్ to Lakshmana, ఇతి this, ఉవాచ said.

Rama said to Lakshmana, the best of men, who had truth as his strength, Go to Sugriva, lord of the monkeys.
రాజ్యభ్రష్టేన దీనేన తస్యామాసక్తచేతసా.

కథం మయా వినా శక్యం సీతాం లక్ష్మణ జీవితుమ్৷৷3.75.28৷৷


లక్ష్మణ Lakshmana, రాజ్యభ్రష్టేన by one dislodged from the kingdom, దీనేన by a pathetic one, తస్యామ్ in her, ఆసక్తచేతసా attached to her, మయా by me, సీతాం వినా without Sita, జీవితుమ్ to live, కథమ్ how, శక్యమ్ is it possible?

O Lakshmana, deprived of the kingdom I have become a destitute. With my heart attached to Sita how can I live without her ?
ఇత్యేవముక్త్వా మదనాభిపీడితః స లక్ష్మణం వాక్యమనన్యచేతసమ్.

వివేశ పమ్పాం నలినీం మనోరమాం రఘూత్తమశ్శోకవిషాదయన్త్రితః৷৷3.75.29৷৷


మదనాభిపీడితః oppressed by love, సః రఘూత్తమః that best of the Raghus, అనన్యచేతసమ్ without
fixing his heart anywhere else, లక్ష్మణమ్ to Lakshmana, ఇత్యేవమ్ in this way, వాక్యమ్ words, ఉక్త్వా having said, శోకవిషాద tears of sorrow, యన్త్రితః afflicted, మనోరమామ్ delightful, పమ్పాం నలినీం a lotus tank, Pampa, వివేశ entered.

Having said these words to Lakshmana who was listening to him with undivided attention, Rama, the best of the Raghus, oppressed by love and afflicted by tears of grief entered Pampa, the delightful lotus-lake.
తతో మహద్వర్త్మ సుదూరసఙ్క్రమం క్రమేణ గత్వా ప్రవిలోకయన్వనమ్.

దదర్శ పమ్పాం శుభదర్శకాననామనేకనానావిధపక్షిజాలకామ్৷৷3.75.30৷৷


తతః then, సుదూరసఙ్క్రమమ్ extending to a distance, మహత్ great, వర్త్మ path, క్రమేణ gradually, గత్వా after going, వనమ్ forest, ప్రవిలోకయన్ while observing, శుభదర్శకాననామ్ surrounded by beautiful forests, అనేకనానావిధపక్షిజాలకామ్ many varieties of birds, పమ్పామ్ Pampa, దదర్శ saw.

Thereafter, going slowly to a distance, Rama and Lakshmana saw Pampa surrounded by beautiful forests full of many varieties of birds.
ఇత్యార్ష శ్రీమద్రామాయణే వాల్మీకీయ ఆదికావ్యే అరణ్యకాణ్డే పఞ్చసప్తతిమస్సర్గః৷৷
Thus ends the seventyfifth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
