রামচাপবিসৃষ্টেন শরেণান্তকরেণ তম্৷

দৃষ্ট্বা বিনিহতং ভূমৌ তারা তারাধিপাননা4.20.1৷৷

সা সমাসাদ্য ভর্তারং পর্যষ্বজত ভামিনী৷


তারাধিপাননা moon-faced, ভামিনী lovely woman, সা তারা that Tara, রামচাপবিসৃষ্টেন by the release of an arrow from Rama's bow, অন্তকরেণ by a death-dealing one, শরেণ arrow, (বি)নিহতম্ killed, তম্ him, ভূমৌ on the ground, দৃষ্ট্বা beholding, সমাসাদ্য went near, পর্যষ্বজত embraced.

Beholding her husband lying on the ground pierced by a death-dealing arrow released by Rama, the lovely moon-faced Tara went and embraced him.

ইষুণা by the arrows, অভিহতম্ killed, কুঞ্জরোপমম্ like an elephant, পর্বতেন্দ্রাভম্ splendid as mountain, উন্মূলম্ uprooted, তরুম্ ইব like a tree, বানরেন্দ্রম্ lord of monkeys, বালিনম্ Vali, দৃষ্ট্বা seeing, তারা Tara, আতুরা restless, শোকসন্তপ্তমানসা immersed in grief, পর্যদেবযত্ wailed.

Beholding Vali, the lord of monkeys, who was strong as an elephant, splendid as a mountain, fallen down like an uprooted tree, struck by the arrow, Tara became restless and wailed bitterly:
রণে দারুণ বিক্রান্ত প্রবীর প্লবতাং বর৷

'O valiant hero, lord of monkeys! you were terrifying in war. Why don't you speak now to me so forlorn and helpless?
উত্তিষ্ঠ হরিশার্দূল ভজস্ব শযনোত্তমম্৷

নৈবংবিধাশ্শেরতে হি ভূমৌ নৃপতিসত্তমাঃ4.20.5৷৷


হরিশার্দূল O tiger among monkeys, উত্তিষ্ঠ get up, শযনোত্তমম্ best of beds, ভজস্ব resort to, এবংবিধাঃ such people, নৃপতিসত্তমাঃ best of kings, ভূমৌ on the ground, ন শেরতে হি do not lie down.

'O tiger among monkeys! get up. Come and sleep on the best of beds. Best of kings, you should not lie on the ground.
অতীব খলু তে কান্তা বসুধা বসুধাধিপ!৷

গতাসুরপি যাং গাত্রৈর্মাং বিহায নিষেবসে4.20.6৷৷


বসুধাধিপ lord of the earth, তে to you, বসুধা earth, অতীব very much, কান্তা খলু indeed your loved one, গতাসুরপি even after death, মাম্ me, বিহায abandon, গাত্রৈ: by your limbs, যাম্ her, নিষেবসে you are enjoying.

'O lord of the earth! I know you loved the earth more than you loved me since you have forsaken me and enjoy her company by hugging her with your limbs, even after death.

বীর O hero, ধর্মতঃ righteously, সম্প্রবর্তিতা acknowledged, ত্বযা by you, অন্যা another, কিষ্কিন্ধেব kishkinda-like, রম্যা delightful, পুরী city, স্বর্গমার্গে on your way to heaven, বিনির্মিতা is built, স্পষ্টম্ it is evident.

'O my heroic husband, you are the legitimate, righteous king of Kiskinda. You have evidently built another beautiful city Kiskinda on your way to heaven.
যান্যস্মাভিস্ত্বযা সার্ধং বনেষু মধুগন্ধিষু৷

বিহৃতানি ত্বযা কালে তেষামুপরমঃ কৃতঃ4.20.8৷৷


ত্বযা with you, অস্মাভি: by us, সার্ধম্ with us, মধুগন্ধিষু sweet-scented, বনেষু in the forests, যানি such, বিহৃতানি pleasure trips, কালে at this time, তেষাম্ their, উপরমঃ made to end, ত্বযা by you, কৃতঃ is made.

'Our pleasure trips to sweet-scented forests have ended now. You have brought them to a close.
নিরানন্দা নিরাশাহং নিমগ্না শোকসাগরে৷

ত্বযি পঞ্চত্বমাপন্নে মহাযূথপযূথপে4.20.9৷৷


মহাযূথপযূথপে the leader of the leaders, ত্বযি you only, পঞ্চত্বম্ heaven, আপন্নে are dead, অহম্ I am, নিরানন্দা without pleasure, নিরাশা with no hope, শোকসাগরে in a sea of sorrow, নিমগ্না immersed.

'You are the leader of leaders. Now that you have attained heaven I am bereft of all joy, plunged in a sea of grief.
হৃদযং সুস্থিরং মহ্যং দৃষ্ট্বা বিনিহতং পতিম্৷

যন্ন শোকাভিসন্তপ্তং স্ফুটতেদ্য সহস্রধা4.20.10৷৷


মহ্যম্ for me, হৃদযম্ heart, সুস্থিরম্ is strong, যত্ since, ভুবি on the ground, (নি)পতিতম্ fallen, দৃষ্ট্বা even seeing, শোকাভিসন্তপ্তম্ tormented with sorrow, অদ্য today, সহস্রধা thousandfold, ন স্ফুটতে not broken into pieces.

'I presume my heart is strong, for it has not broken into a thousand pieces, even though I am overwhelmed with grief to see my husband fallen on the ground.
সুগ্রীবস্য ত্বযা ভার্যা হৃতা স চ বিবাসিতঃ৷

যত্তু ত্তস্য ত্বযা ব্যুষ্টিঃ প্রাপ্তেযং প্লবগাধিপ!4.20.11৷৷


প্লবগাধিপ! O king of monkeys, ত্বযা by you, যত্ that, সুগ্রীবস্য Sugriva's, ভার্যা wife, হৃতা seized, সঃ চ and he is, বিবাসিতঃ banished, তত্ that, ত্বযা by you, তস্য its, ইযম্ this, ব্যুষ্টিঃ as a result, প্রাপ্তা attained.

'O king of monkeys! you have banished Sugriva. You have usurped his wife. This is the fruit of your action.

যৈষাব্রুবং হিতং বাক্যং বানরেন্দ্র হিতৈষিণী4.20.12৷৷


বানরেন্দ্র O lord of monkeys!, নিঃশ্রেযসপরা wishing your wellfare, হিতৈষিণী as a well-wisher, যা such, এষা such a lady, হিতম্ বাক্যম্ salutary advice, অব্রুবম্ I tendered, অহম্ I, ত্বযা মোহাত্ due to delusion, বিগর্হিতা despised.

'O lord of monkeys! wishing your well-being I tendered salutary advice. But out of delusion you despised them.
রূপযৌবনদৃপ্তানাং দক্ষিণানাং চ মানদ!৷

নূনমপ্সরসামার্য! চিত্তানি প্রমথিষ্যসি4.20.13৷৷


মানদ O venerable one!, রূপযৌবনদৃপ্তানাম্ endowed with youth and beauty, দক্ষিণানাম্ of the kind-hearted, অপ্সরসাম্ of apsarasas, চিত্তানি hearts, প্রমথিষ্যসি you will churn, নূনম্ surely.

'O venerable one! you will surely churn the minds of the kind-hearted celestial nymphs who are endowed with youth and beauty.
কালো নিস্সংশযো নূনং জীবিতান্তকরস্তব৷

বলাদ্যেনাবপন্নোসি সুগ্রীবস্যাবশো বশম্4.20.14৷৷


নিস্সংশযঃ no doubt, কালঃ inexorable time, তব to you, জীবিতান্তকরঃ ends your life, নূনম্ surely, যেন since, অবশঃ an uncontrollable one, বলাত্ forcibly, সুগ্রীবস্য Sugriva's, বশম্ under control, অবপন্নঃ come into the fold.

'No doubt time is inexorable. The time of your death had surely arrived.Now you, whom nobody could control, have come under the sway of Sugriva.
বৈধব্যং শোকসন্তাপং কৃপণং কৃপণা সতী৷

অদুঃখোপচিতা পূর্বং বর্তযিষ্যাম্যনাথবত্৷৷4.20.15৷৷


পূর্বম্ earlier, কৃপণা সতী reduced to pitiable condition, অদুঃখোপচিতা not experienced grief, অনাথবত্ like an orphan, কৃপণং in a wretched manner, বৈধব্যম্ widowhood, শোকসন্তাপম্ immersed in grief, বর্তযিষ্যামি I will remain.

'I have not experienced poverty or suffering before. Immersed in grief, like an orphan, now I am reduced to the pitiable condition of a widow.
লালিতশ্চাঙ্গদো বীরস্সুকুমারস্সুখোচিতঃ৷

বর্ত্স্যতে কামবস্থাং মে পিতৃব্যে ক্রোধমূর্ছিতে৷৷4.20.16৷৷


পিতৃব্যে father's brother, ক্রোধমূর্ছিতে is deluded with anger, লালিতঃ a fondled boy, সুকুমারঃ tender, সুখোচিতঃ who deserves comforts, বীরঃ a hero, মে অঙ্গদঃ my Angada, কাম্ what kind, অবস্থাম্ state, বর্ত্স্যতে is going to experience?

'To what plight will the tender Angada, who has been tended affectionately and
deserves comforts, be reduced when his uncle displays anger?
কুরুষ্ব পিতরং পুত্র! সুদৃষ্টং ধর্মবত্সলম্৷

দুর্লভং দর্শনং বত্স! তব তস্য ভবিষ্যতি৷৷4.20.17৷৷


পুত্র O son!, ধর্মবত্সলম্ a lover of dharma, পিতরম্ father, সুদৃষ্টম্ well seen, কুরুষ্ব you may do, বত্স dear, তস্য his, দর্শনম্ meeting, দুর্লভম্ difficult, ভবিষ্যতি will become.

(Turning to Angada Tara said) 'O son, look at your father, a lover of dharma. See him, as it will be difficult to see him later, dear'.
সমাশ্বাসয পুত্রং ত্বং সন্দেশং সন্দিশস্ব মে৷

মূর্ধ্নি চৈনং সমাঘ্রায প্রবাসং প্রস্থিতো হ্যসি4.20.18৷৷

'O lord! you have set out on a long journey. Kiss your son on the forehead, enjoy its sweet smell, console him and give him your message.
রামেণ হি মহত্কর্ম কৃতং ত্বামভিনিঘ্নতা৷

আনৃণ্যং চ গতং তস্য সুগ্রীবস্য প্রতিশ্রবে4.20.19৷৷


ত্বাম্ you, অভিনিঘ্নতা by killing you, রামেণ by Rama, মহত্ great, কর্ম deed, কৃতং হি accomplished, সুগ্রীবস্য for Sugriva, প্রতিশ্রবে in fulfilling promise, তস্য his, আনৃণ্যম্ debt, গতং তু is acquitted.

'Indeed, Rama has achieved a great feat in fulfilling his promise to Sugriva. He is acquitted of the debt by killing you.

ভুঙ্ক্ষব রাজ্যমনুদ্বিগ্নশ্শস্তো ভ্রাতা রিপুস্তব4.20.20৷৷


সুগ্রীব Sugriva, সকামঃ be happy, ভব be, ত্বম্ you, রুমাম্ Ruma, প্রতিপত্স্যসে returned to her, অনুদ্বিগ্নঃ without any worry, রাজ্যম্ kingdom, ভুঙ্ক্ষব enjoy, তব your, রিপুঃ enemy, ভ্রাতা brother, শস্তঃ is killed.

'(Now turning to Sugriva she said) O Sugriva! your enemy brother has been killed and your desire has been fulfilled.You will get back Ruma and enjoy the kingdom without any obstacles.'

'(To Vali she said) O lord of monkeys! Why don't you speak to me loving words when I am wailing this way? Here are your excellent wives!'
তস্যা বিলপিতং শ্রুত্বা বানর্যস্সর্বতশ্চ তাঃ৷

পরিগৃহ্যাঙ্গদং দীনং দুঃখার্তা পরিচুক্রুশুঃ4.20.22৷৷


সর্বতঃ all over, তাঃ those, বানর্যঃ female monkeys, তস্যাঃ their, বিলপিতম্ wailing, শ্রুত্বা on hearing, অঙ্গদম্ Angada, পরিগৃহ্য taking hold, দীনাঃ wretched women, দুঃখার্তাঃ filled with sorrow, পরিচুক্রুশুঃ cried bitterly.

On hearing the wailing of Tara, all the other wives of Vali held the piteous (in their arms) Angada and wailed, overwhelmed with sorrow:
কিমঙ্গদং সাঙ্গদবীরবাহো

বিহায যাস্যদ্য চিরপ্রবাসম্৷

ন যুক্তমেবং গুণসন্নিকৃষ্টং

বিহায পুত্রং প্রিযপুত্র! গন্তুম্4.20.23৷৷


সাঙ্গদবীরবাহো O hero adorned with armlets, অঙ্গদম্ Angada, বিহায deserting, চিরপ্রবাসম্ on a long journey, কিম্ why, প্রযাতঃ অসি going, গুণসন্নিকৃষ্টম্ with qualities like yours, প্রিযপুত্র your dear son, পুত্রম্ son, এবম্ this way, ন যুক্তম্ not proper to go.

'O hero, adorned with armlets, why have you departed on a long journey, deserting your dear son Angada who possesses similar virtues like you? It is not proper.
কিমপ্রিযং তে প্রিয! চারুবেষ!

মযা কৃতং নাথ! সুতেন বা তে৷

সহাঙ্গদাং মাং প্রবিহায বীর!

যত্প্রস্থিতো দীর্ঘ মিতঃ প্রবাসম্4.20.24৷৷


প্রিযচারুবেষ robed attractively, বীর esteemed one, নাথ lord, সহাঙ্গদাম্ with Angada, মাম্ me, বিহায leaving, ইতঃ this place, দীর্ঘম্ long distance, প্রবাসম্ journey, যত্ প্রস্থিতঃ since you have begun, মযা by me, তে to you, সুতেন বা or by your son, কিম্ what, অপ্রিযম্ unpleasant, কৃতম্ done.

'O darling, attractively dressed, you are leaving me and Angada and going too far. What unpleasant deeds we have done (to deserve this).

কৃতং মযা স্যাত্তব দীর্ঘবাহো৷

ক্ষমস্ব মে তদ্ধরিবংশনাথ

ব্রজামি মূর্ধ্না তব বীর! পাদৌ৷৷4.20.25৷৷


দীর্ঘবাহো O long-armed one, হরিবংশনাথ chief of monkey clan, বীর warrior, অসম্প্রধার্য unknowingly, মযা by me, তব to you, অপ্রিযম্ inconsiderately, কিঞ্চিত্ even a little, কৃতং স্যাদ্যদি if done, মে mine, তত্ that, ক্ষমস্ব may pardon, মূর্ধ্না by my head, তব your, পাদো feet, ব্রজামি I reach.

'O long-armed chief of the monkey clan! O warrior! pardon me any wrong done unknowingly, inconsiderately. I touch your feet with my head.'

অনিন্দ্যবর্ণা flawless complexion, তারা Tara, ভর্তুঃ husband's, সমীপে in the presence, বানরীভিঃ সহ along with female monkeys, তথা similarly, করুণম্ patheticaly, রুদন্তী crying, বালী Vali, যত্র there, ভুবি on the ground, প্রাযম্ উপোপবেষ্টুম্ sitting down by abstaining from food seeking death, ব্যবস্যত determined.

Beautiful Tara crying pathetically sat near her husband along with other female monkeys on the ground, determined to abstain from food and drink, awaiting death.
