[Hanuman consoles Tara --- requests her to ask Angada to perform the last rites for Vali --- Tara's reply.]

ততো নিপতিতাং তারাং চ্যুতাং তারামিবাম্বরাত্৷

শনৈরাশ্বাসযামাস হনুমান্হরিযূথপঃ4.21.1৷৷


ততঃ then, অম্বরাত্ from the sky, চ্যুতাম্ fallen down, তারামিব like a star, নিপতিতাম্ fallen on the ground, তারাম্ Tara, হরিযূথপঃ leader of the monkey clan, হনুমান্ Hanuman, শনৈঃ slowly, আশ্বাসযামাস consoled.

Thereafter Hanuman, leader of the monkey clan, slowly consoled Tara who was (standing before her husband) like a star fallen from the sky.
গুণদোষকৃতং জন্তুস্স্বকর্ম ফলহেতুকম্৷

অব্যগ্রস্তদবাপ্নোতি সর্বং প্রেত্য শুভাশুভম্4.21.2৷৷


জন্তুঃ an embodied soul, গুণদোষকৃতম্ by virtue of their good and bad deeds, ফলহেতুকম্ the fruits of actions, সর্বম্ all, তত্ that, শুভাশুভম্ whether good and bad, কর্ম deed, প্রেত্য after death, অব্যগ্রঃ gradually, আপ্নোতি attains.

'On departing from this mortal world an embodied soul reaps gradually the good and evil fruits of action performed under the notion of virtue or vice with an eye to their good or evil consequences.

কস্য কোবানুশোচ্যোস্তি দেহেস্মিন্ বুদ্বুদোপমে4.21.3৷৷


শোচ্যা worry, শোচ্যম্ a matter to grieve, কম্ whom, শোচসি you are grieving, দীনা in a miserable manner, অনুকম্পসে you show sympathy, অস্মিন্ in this, দেহে body, বুদ্বুদোপমে like
a bubble, কঃ who, কস্য for whom, অনুশোচ্যঃ worthy of worrying, অস্তি now.

'For whom do you grieve except for yourself? You are miserable. Who are you sympathising with? Who are you grieving for? When this body itself is like a bubble, who is worth grieving for?
অঙ্গদস্তু কুমারোযং দ্রষ্টব্যো জীবপুত্রযা৷

অযত্যাং চ বিধেযানি সমর্থান্যস্য চিন্তয4.21.4৷৷


জীবপুত্রযা who has a son surviving, কুমারঃ prince, অযম্ this, অঙ্গদঃ Angada, দ্রষ্টব্যঃ should be looked after, আযত্যাম্ in future, অস্য his, বিধেযানি duties, সমর্থানি properly, চিন্তয you may think of.

'You are mother of a surviving son, Angada. You have to look after him in times to come. Think of the duties to be performed now.
জানাস্যনিযতামেবং ভূতানামাগতিং গতিম্৷

তস্মাচ্ছুভং হি কর্তব্যং পণ্ডিতেনৈহ লৌকিকম্৷৷4.21.5৷৷


ভূতানাম্ for all beings, আগতিম্ transient happenings, অনিযতাম্ এব as it is unstable, জানাসি you know, তস্মাত্ therefore, পণ্ডিতেন by the wise, ইহ here, লৌকিকম্ worldly, শুভম্ auspicious, কর্তব্যং হি is to be done.

'You are aware of the uncertain and transient happenings in the lives of living beings. Therefore, a wise lady should do auspicious work in this world.
যস্মিন্হরিসহস্রাণি প্রযুতান্যর্বুদানি চ৷

বর্তযন্তি কৃতাংশানি সোযং দিষ্টান্তমাগতঃ4.21.6৷৷


যস্মিন্ in whom, কৃতাংশানি pinning their hopes, হরিসহস্রাণি thousands of monkeys, প্রযুতানি in millions, অর্বুদানি চ and tens of millions, বর্তযন্তি sustain, সঃ he, অযম্ this, দিষ্টান্তম্ to enjoy the fruits of his good deeds, আগতঃ reached.

'Tens of millions of monkeys depended on this hero with their hopes on him. He has reached his ultimate destiny now to enjoy the fruits of his good deeds.
যদযং ন্যাযদৃষ্টার্থস্সামদানক্ষমাপরঃ৷

গতো ধর্মজিতাং ভূমিং নৈনং শোচিতুমর্হসি4.21.7৷৷


ন্যাযদৃষ্টার্থঃ who has right vision, সামদানক্ষমাপরঃ adopts the sama(conciliation) dana (charity) and forgiveness (as means of administration), অযম্ this hero, যত্ such, ধর্মজিতাম্ of those who win righteously, ভূমিম্ earth, গতঃ reached, এবম্ in that way, শোচিতুম্ to mourn, নার্হসি not proper.

'This hero with a right vision, adopted the means of conciliation, charity and forgiveness (in his administration) and has finally reached a position through righteousness in his death. It is not proper to mourn for him.
সর্বে হি হরিশার্দূলাঃ পুত্রশ্চাযং তবাঙ্গদঃ৷

ইদং হর্যৃক্ষপতিরাজ্যং চ ত্বত্সনাথমনিন্দিতে4.21.8৷৷


অনিন্দিতে O blemishless lady, সর্বে all, হরিশার্দূলাঃ tigers among monkeys, তব your, পুত্রঃ son, অযম্ this, অঙ্গদশ্চ Angada's, হর্যৃক্ষপতিরাজ্যং চ and the kingdom of monkeys and bears, ত্বত্সনাথম্ under your protection.

'O blemishless lady! these great monkeys including your son Angada and the entire kingdom of monkeys and bears are under your protection.
তাবিমৌ শোকসন্তপ্তৌ শনৈঃ প্রেরয ভামিনি!৷

ত্বযা পরিগৃহীতোযমঙ্গদশ্শাস্তু মেদিনীম্4.21.9৷৷


ভামিনি O fair sex, শোকসন্তপ্তৌ immersed in grief, তৌ ইমৌ they both, শনৈঃ slowly, প্রেরয you may encourage, ত্বযা by you, পরিগৃহীতঃ protected, অযম্ this, অঙ্গদঃ Angada, মেদিনীম্ earth, শাস্তু he may command.

'O fair sex! Encourage these two grief-stricken heroes (Angada and Sugriva) gently. Let Angada rule this earth under your protection.
সন্ততিশ্চ যথা দৃষ্টা কৃত্যং যচ্চাপি সাম্প্রতম্৷

রাজ্ঞস্তত্ক্রিযতাং সর্বমেষ কালস্য নিশ্চযঃ4.21.10৷৷


সন্ততিঃ a son, যথা that way, দৃষ্টা after seeing, সাম্প্রতম্ presently, রাজ্ঞঃ to king Vali, যত্ all such thing, কৃত্যং চাপি and done, তত্ that, সর্বম্ all, ক্রিযতাম্ may be carried out, এষঃ this, কালস্য at this time, নিশ্চযঃ is the decision.

সংস্কার্যো হরিরাজশ্চ অঙ্গদশ্চাভিষিচ্যতাম্৷

সিংহাসনগতং পুত্রং পশ্যন্তী শান্তিমেষ্যসি4.21.11৷৷


হরিরাজঃ king of monkeys, সংস্কার্যঃ all rituals should be performed, অঙ্গদশ্চ by Angada, অভিষিচ্যতাম্ may be consecrated, সিংহাসনগতম্ seated on the throne, পুত্রম্ son, পশ্যন্তী while you are looking at him, শান্তিম্ peace, এষ্যসি you will attain.

'Let all the rituals of the king of vanaras be performed. Let Angada be consecrated. You will attain peace of mind to see your son seated on the throne.'

অব্রবীদুত্তরং তারা হনূমন্তমবস্থিতম্4.21.12৷৷


ভর্তৃব্যসনপীডিতা tormented by the husband's death, সা তারা that Tara, তস্য his, বচনম্ words, শ্রুত্বা on hearing, অবস্থিতম্ waiting, হনূমন্তম্ to Hanumanta, অবস্থিতম্ who was waiting, উত্তরম্ reply, অব্রবীত্ said.

On hearing Hanuman's words, Tara, tormented by the death of her husband said to Hanuman who was waiting for her reply:
অঙ্গদপ্রতিরূপাণাং পুত্রাণামেকতশ্শতম্৷

হতস্যাপ্যস্য বীরস্য গাত্রসংশ্লেষণং বরম্4.21.13৷৷


অঙ্গদপ্রতিরূপাণাম্ of those who may be prototypes of Angada, পুত্রাণাম্ of sons, শতম্ one hundred, একতঃ on one side, হতস্যাপি even if he is slayed, অস্য his, বীরস্য warrior's, গাত্রসংশ্লেষণম্ embracing the body, বরম্ is better.

'To embrace even the deadbody of this hero is better than (to embrace) a hundred prototypes of Angada.

অহম্ I am, হরিরাজস্য of the king of monkeys, অঙ্গদস্য বা or about Angada, ন প্রভবামি not the right, তস্য his, পিতৃব্যঃ father's brother, সর্বকার্যেষু in all tasks, অনন্তরঃ herafter.

ন হ্যেষাবুদ্ধিরাস্থেযা হনূমন্নঙ্গদং প্রতি৷

পিতা হি বন্ধুঃ পুত্রস্য ন মাতা হরিসত্তম!4.21.15৷৷


হনুমান্ O Hanuman!, অঙ্গদং প্রতি for Angada, এষা that way, বুদ্ধি: thought, ন আস্থেযাঃ not to be entertained, হরিসত্তম best of monkeys, পুত্রস্য son's, পিতা father, বন্ধুঃ relation, মাতা mother, ন none else.

'O Hanuman the best of monkeys, you need not think about (the future of) Angada. A father plans for a son and not (even) the mother.

ক্ষমতরমস্তি পরত্র চেহ বা৷

অভিমুখহতবীরসেবিতং

শযনমিদং মম সেবিতুং ক্ষমম্4.21.16৷৷


মম my, ইহ বা in this world or, পরত্র বা or in the next world, হরিরাজসংশ্রযাত্ other than joining king of monkeys, ক্ষমতরম্ a safer course, ন অস্তি হি is not found, অভিমুখহতবীরসেবিতম্ used by this slain warrior in front of me, ইদং this, শযনম্ resting place, সেবিতুম্ to rest, মম for me, ক্ষমম্ is fitting.

There is nothing more befitting for me than joining the king of monkeys either here or in the next world. It is proper for me to resort to this resting place (pyre) used by this slain hero in front of me.
