ততঃ then, লোকাচ্চ্যুতং departed from the world, তারা Tara, কপিরাজস্য king of monkeys', তত্ মুখম্ his forehead, সমুপজিঘ্রন্তী smelt (kissed), মৃতম্ dead, পতিম্ husband, বচনম্ these words, অব্রবীত্ said.

Tara kissed (smelt) the forehead of the king of monkeys who had departed and said:
শেষে ত্বং বিষমে দুঃখমকৃত্বা বচনং মম৷

উপলোপচিতে বীর! সুদুঃখে বসুধাতলে4.23.2৷৷


বীর hero!, মম my,বচনম্ words, অকৃত্বা not cared, ত্বম্ you, বিষমে on a hard, উপলোপচিতে carpeted with stones, সুদুঃখে very painful, বসুধাতলে on the ground, দুঃখম্ sadly, শেষে lying

'O hero, not caring for my words (of caution), you are now lying with great pain on hard stones on the ground.

বানরেন্দ্র O lord of monkeys, মহী the earth, তব to you, মত্তঃ more than me, নূনম্ surely, প্রিযতরা dearer, হি indeed, তাম্ to her, পরিষ্বজ্য embracing, শেষে in the end, মাম্ me, ন প্রতিভাষসে চ not replying me.

'O lord of monkeys! you lie in the end, embracing the earth and not replying to me.
Surely you deem this earth dearer than me.
সুগ্রীবস্য বশং প্রাপ্তো বিধিরেষভবত্যহো৷

সুগ্রীব এব বিক্রান্তো বীর! সাহসিকপ্রিয!4.23.4৷৷

'O lover of brave deeds, fate has brought you under the sway of Sugriva, although he had lost to you.

'Oh powerful Vali! leaders of the bears and monkeys, the entire lot are standing near you, wailing. Angada has been crying in grief. How is it that you are not rising up even after hearing their wailing voices and my call? .

বিশুদ্ধসত্ত্বাভিজন born into pure and noble clan, প্রিযযুদ্ধ O lover of battle, মানদ O venerable one, মম প্রিয my dear, ত্বম্ you, অনাথাম্ an orphan, মাম্ me, একাম্ বিহায leaving me alone, গতঃ went.

'O venerable hero, born in a pure and noble family, you are a lover of battles. Now you have left me an orphan.
শূরায ন প্রদাতব্যা কন্যা খলু বিপশ্চিতা৷

শূরভার্যাং হতাং পশ্য সদ্যো মাং বিধবাং কৃতাম্4.23.8৷৷


বিপশ্চিতা by wise men, কন্যা a girl, শূরায for a warrior, ন প্রদাতব্যা should not be given in marriage, সদ্যঃ presently, বিধবাং কৃতাম্ rendered a widow, হতাম্ killed, শূরভার্যাম্ wife of a warrior, মাম্ me, পশ্য you may see.

'It is said by wise men that a girl should not be given in marriage to a warrior. See me, the wife of a warrior, now rendered a widow.
অবভগ্নশ্চ মে মানো ভগ্না মে শাশ্বতী গতিঃ4.23.9৷৷

অগাধে চ নিমগ্নাস্মি বিপুলে শোকসাগরে৷

'My pride is crushed. My husband, the ultimate resort for me is shattered.I am

ভর্তারং নিহতং দৃষ্ট্বা যন্নাদ্য শতধা কৃতম্৷


নিহতম্ killed, ভর্তারম্ husband, দৃষ্ট্বা seeing, যত্ since, অদ্য now, শতধা into a hundred, ন কৃতম্ not broken, মে my, দৃঢম্ hard, ইদং হৃদযম্ this heart, অশ্মসারমযম্ made of stone, নূনম্ surely.

'My heart is surely made of hard stone yet it has not split into a hundred pieces even on seeing my husband slain৷৷
সুহৃচ্চৈব হি ভর্তা চ প্রকৃত্যা মম চ প্রিযঃ৷

আহবে চ পরাক্রান্তশ্শূরঃ পঞ্চত্বমাগতঃ4.23.11৷৷


মম my, প্রকৃত্যা by nature, প্রিযঃ dear, সুহৃচ্ছৈব a friend also, ভর্তা চ and husband, আহবে in battle, পরাক্রান্তঃ a powerful, শূরঃ hero, পঞ্চত্বম্ death, আগতঃ reached.

'He was my husband, my friend and naturally my loving king. He was powerful in battle.Alas! the hero has died.
পতিহীনা তু যা নারী কামং ভবতু পুত্রিণী৷

ধনধান্যৈস্সুপূর্ণাপি বিধবেত্যুচ্যতে বুধৈঃ4.23.12৷৷


যা নারী any woman, পতিহীনা without husband, পুত্রিণী mother of sons, ভবতু কামম্ even so, ধনধান্যৈস্সুপূর্ণাপি a prosperous lady with wealth and grain in abundance, বুধৈঃ by learned people, বিধবেতি only a widow, উচ্যতে is called so.

'Even if a woman without husband, is blessed with sons and abundant wealth and grain, still learned people call her a widow.
স্বগাত্রপ্রভবে বীর! শেষে রুধিরমণ্ডলে৷

ক্রিমিরাগপরিস্তোমে ত্বমাত্মশযনে যথা4.23.13৷৷


বীর O hero!, স্বগাত্রপ্রভবে flowing from your body, রুধিরমণ্ডলে in a pool of blood, ক্রিমিরাগপরিস্তোমে crimson bed, ত্বমাত্মশযনে in sleeping, যথা as such, শেষে you are lying.

'O hero! how is it that you are lying in a crimson bed of the pool of blood flowing from your body?
রেণুশোণিতসংবীতং গাত্রং তব সমন্ততঃ৷

পরিরব্ধুং ন শক্নোমি ভুজাভ্যাং প্লবগর্ষভ! 4.23.14৷৷


প্লবগর্ষভ! O bull among monkeys!, সমন্ততঃ all over, রেণুশোণিতসংবীতম্ covered with dust particles and blood, তব গাত্রম্ your body, ভুজাভ্যাম্ with my arms, পরিরব্ধুম্ to embrace, ন শক্নোমি not able to.

'O bull among monkeys! how can I embrace you with my arms as your body is covered with dust particles and blood?.
কৃতকৃত্যোদ্য সুগ্রীবো বৈরেস্মিন্নতিদারুণে৷

যস্য রামবিমুক্তেন হৃতমেকেষুণা ভযম্4.23.15৷৷


অতিদারুণে very dreadful, অস্মিন্ বৈরে his enmity, সুগ্রীবঃ Sugriva, অদ্য now, কৃতকৃত্যঃ has achieved his goal, যস্য at whose, ভযম্ fear, রামবিমুক্তেন released by Rama, একেষুণা one single arrow, হৃতম্ is dispelled.

'Sugriva has achieved his goal in his dreadful enmity (with you). His fear is dispelled by a single arrow released by Rama.
শরেণ হৃদি লগ্নেন গাত্রসংস্পর্শনে তব৷

বার্যামি ত্বাং নিরীক্ষন্তী ত্বযি পঞ্চত্বমাগতে4.23.16৷৷


ত্বযি your, পঞ্চত্বম্ death, আগতে reached, হৃদি in the chest, শরেণ by the arrow, লগ্নেন by arrow pierced, গাত্রসংস্পর্শনে touching limbs, বার্যামি refrain from, ত্বাং your, নিরীক্ষন্তী only looking at you.

'The arrow which has pierced your body prevents me from embracing you. I am only looking at you lying (not removing the arrow lest you die).'
উদ্ববর্হ শরং নীলস্তস্য গাত্রগতং তদা৷

গিরিগহ্বরসংলীনং দীপ্তমাশীবিষং যথা4.23.17৷৷


তদা then, নীলঃ Nila, তস্য his, গাত্রগতম্ deadbody, শরম্ arrow, গিরিগহ্বরসংলীনম্ hidden in the mountain cave(heart), দীপ্তম্ glowing, আশীবিষং যথা like a serpent, উদ্ববর্হ made effort.

Then Nila took out the arrow from Vali's heart with due effort as one would pull out a glowing serpent hidden in the mountain cave.

নিষ্কৃষমাণস্য as it was being pulled out, তস্য of that, বাণস্য arrow's, দ্যুতিঃ glow, দিনকরাত্ Sun's, অস্তমস্তকসংরুদ্ধঃ obstructed by the peak of the western mountain, রশ্মিঃ ইব like the rays, বভৌ appeared.

As the arrrow(drenched in blood) was being pulled out, its glow looked like the Sun's rays obstructed by the peak of the western mountain.

flowed.

The streams of blood that flowed all over from the wounds of his body appeared like streams of water mixed with red and copper colour.
অবকীর্ণং বিমার্জন্তী ভর্তারং রণরেণুনা৷

অস্রৈর্নযনজৈশ্শূরং সিষেচাস্ত্রসমাহতম্4.23.20৷৷


রণরেণুনা war-dust, অবকীর্ণম্ covered, ভর্তারম্ husband, বিমার্জন্তী wiped, অস্ত্রসমাহতম্ wounded with the weapon, শূরম্ warrior, নযনজৈঃ water from the eyes, অপ্রৈঃ with tears, সিষেচ sprinkled.

She (Tara) wiped the body wounded with the weapon and covered with war-dust, sprinkling her tear drops from her eyes.
রুধিরোক্ষিতসর্বাঙ্গং দৃষ্ট্বা বিনিহতং পতিম্৷

উবাচ তারা পিঙ্গাক্ষং পুত্রমঙ্গদমঙ্গনা4.23.21৷৷


অঙ্গনা woman, তারা Tara, বিনিহতম্ killed, রুধিরোক্ষিতসর্বাঙ্গম্ all parts of his body drenched in blood, পতিম্ husband, দৃষ্ট্বা seeing, পুত্রম্ son, পিঙ্গাক্ষম্ tawny-eyed, অঙ্গদম্ Angada, উবাচ said.

Turning to the body of her husband fully drenched in blood, thus spoke Tara to her tawny-eyed son Angada:
অবস্থাং পশ্চিমাং পশ্য পিতুঃ পুত্র! সুদারুণাম্৷

সম্প্রসক্তস্য বৈরস্য গতোন্তঃ পাপকর্মণা4.23.22৷৷


পুত্র Son!, পিতুঃ of father, সুদারুণাম্ most terrific, পশ্চিমাং at the end, অবস্থাম্ condition, পশ্য see, পাপকর্মণা on account of the sinful deeds, সম্প্রসক্তস্য that which was forced on him, বৈরস্য out of the enmity, অন্তঃ end, গতঃ reached.

'O son! you see the most terrific end of your father on whom enmity forced sinful deeds.
বালসূর্যোদযতনুং প্রযান্তং যমসদনম্৷

অভিবাদয রাজানং পিতরং পুত্র! মানদম্4.23.23৷৷


পুত্র son!, বালসূর্যোদযতনুম্ body (red) like the rising Sun, যমসদনম্ abode of Yama, প্রযান্তম্ departing , রাজানম্ king, মানদম্ venerable, পিতরম্ father, অভিবাদয offer salutations.

'O son! offer salutations to your venerable father, the king, departing for the abode of Yama (lord of death) looking (red with blood) like the rising Sun.'

ভুজাভ্যাং পীনবৃত্তাভ্যামঙ্গদোহমিতি ব্রুবন্4.23.24৷৷


এবম্ that way, উক্তঃ advised, সমুত্থায got up, অহম্ I am, অঙ্গদঃ Angada, ইতি thus, ব্রুবন্ speaking, পীনবৃত্তাভ্যাম্ stout, ভুজাভ্যাম্ both shoulders, পিতুঃ of father, চরণৌ feet, জগ্রাহ clasped.

Thus advised by Tara, Angada got up, clasped his father's feet with his stout arms, and saluted, saying, 'I am Angada.'
অভিবাদযমানং ত্বামঙ্গদং ত্বং যথা পুরা৷

দীর্ঘাযুর্ভব পুত্রেতি কিমর্থং নাভিভাষসে4.23.25৷৷

'Why do you not, with the words 'May you live long'', bless, as before, your son Angada who is greeting you? (said Tara).
অহং পুত্রসহাযা ত্বামুপাসে গতচেতসম্৷

সিংহেন নিহতং সদ্যো গৌস্সবত্সেব গোবৃষম্4.23.26৷৷


সদ্যঃ now, সিংহেন by a lion, নিহতম্ struck, গোবৃষম্ mighty bull, সবত্সা along with her calf, গৌঃ ইব like a calf, পুত্রসহাযা wait upon with son, অহম্ I am, গতচেতসম্ lost consciousness (died), ত্বাম্ you, উপাসে I serve you.

'Just like a cow followed by its calf would attend upon a mighty bull struck by a lion I will wait with my son upon you who have lost consciousness (died).
ইষ্ট্বা সঙ্গ্রামযজ্ঞেন রামপ্রহরণাম্ভসি৷

অস্মিন্নবভৃথে স্নাতঃ কথং পত্ন্যা মযা বিনা4.23.27৷৷


সঙ্গ্রামযজ্ঞেন ইষ্ট্বা having performed a sacrificial war, পত্ন্যা with wife, মযা বিনা without me, রামপ্রহ্ররণাম্ভসি in the water of Rama's arrow, অস্মিন্ in this, অবভৃথে in this bath taken at the end of a sacrifice, কথম্ how, স্নাতঃ did you bathe?

'You have performed a war-sacrifice. You have bathed in the waters of Rama's weapon signifying the end of the sacrifice. How did you take this customary bath without me, your wife?
যা দত্তা দেবরাজেন তব তুষ্টেন সংযুগে৷

শাতকুম্ভমযীং মালাং তাং তে পশ্যামি নেহ কিম্4.23.28৷৷


সংযুগে in the battle, তুষ্টেন pleased, দেবরাজেন by the king of gods (Indra), যা such one, তব to your, দত্তা gifted, তাম্ that one, শাতকুম্ভমযীং a golden one, মালাম্ necklace, ইহ now, কিম্ why, ন পশ্যামি I do not see.

'Why do I not see on your chest the golden necklace gifted by the king of the gods (Indra), pleased with you in the battle?
রাজ্যশ্রীর্ন জহাতি ত্বাং গতাসুমপি মানদ৷

সূর্যস্যাবর্তমানস্য শৈলরাজমিব প্রভা4.23.29৷৷


মানদ venerable, শৈলরাজম্ king of mountains, আবর্তমানস্য as he returns, সূর্যস্য the Sun's, প্রভা ইব like light, রাজ্যশ্রীঃ kingly glory, গতাসুম্ অপি even though departed, ত্বাম্ you, ন জহাতি not left.

'O venerable one, even though life has departed from you, kingly glory does not leave you any more than the light of the setting son leaves the king of mountains. (western mountain)

ন চাস্মি শক্তা হি নিবারণে তব৷

হতা সপুত্রাস্মি হতেন সংযুগে

সহ ত্বযা শ্রীর্বিজহাতি মামিহ4.23.30৷৷


ত্বযা by you, মে mine, পথ্যম্ proper, ইদং বচঃ these words, ন কৃতম্ not followed, তব your, নিবারণে in preventing, শক্তা capable, ন অস্মি চ হি I was not, সংযুগে in war, হতেন one who is killed, সুপুত্রা along with my son, হতাস্মি I am dead, শ্রীঃ goddess of fortune, ত্বযা সহ along with you, মামিহ from me, বিজহাতি has deserted.

'You have not followed my advice. I did not have the capacity to prevent you from going to war. The result is, you are killed and I am ruined along with my son. The goddess of fortune also is deserting me as well as your son.'
