[Sugriva speaks very highly of Hanuman to Rama --- Rama hands in his ring to Hanuman as a mark of identification.]

বিশেষেণ তু সুগ্রীবো হনূমত্যর্থমুক্তবান্৷

স হি তস্মিন্হরিশ্রেষ্ঠে নিশ্চিতার্থোর্থসাধনে৷৷4.44.1৷৷


সুগ্রীবঃ Sugriva, বিশেষেণ particularly, হনূমতি in Hanuman, অর্থম্ purpose (of the mission), উক্তবান্ mentioned, সঃ he, অর্থসাধনে in accomplishing the goal, তস্মিন্ হরিশ্রেষ্ঠে great among the monkeys, নিশ্চিতার্থঃ হি one who was sure of success.

Sugriva mentioned about the capacity of Hanuman, the best of monkeys as he knew he would surely succeed in accomplishing the task.
অব্রবীচ্চ হনূমন্তং বিক্রান্তমনিলাত্মজম্৷

সুগ্রীবঃ পরমপ্রীতঃ প্রভু স্সর্ববনৌকসাম্৷৷4.44.2৷৷


সর্ববনৌকসাম্ for all the monkeys, প্রভুঃ king, সুগ্রীবঃ Sugriva, পরমপ্রীতঃ very pleased, বিক্রান্তম্ advancing, অনিলাত্মজম্ son of the Wind-god, হনূমন্তম্ to Hanumanta, অব্রবীচ্চ spoke.

Sugriva, king of the monkeys, spoke, highly pleased, to Hanuman, the warrior son of the Wind-god advancing towards him:
ন ভূমৌ নান্তরিক্ষে বা নাম্বরে নামরালযে৷

নাপ্সু বা গতিসঙ্গং তে পশ্যামি হরিপুঙ্গব!৷৷4.44.3৷৷


হরিপুঙ্গব! O best of monkeys, ভূমৌ on earth, তে to you, গতিসঙ্গম্ who can equal your movement, ন পশ্যামি I do not see, অন্তরিক্ষে বা or in space, ন nor, অম্বরে in sky, ন nor, অমরালযে in heaven, ন nor, অপ্সু বা or in water.

'O best of monkeys! I scarcely see a hero comparable to your speed on earth or in space or sky or heaven or water.
সাসুরাস্সহগন্ধর্বাস্সনাগনরদেবতাঃ৷

বিদিতা স্সর্বলোকাস্তে সসাগরধরাধরাঃ৷৷4.44.4৷৷


সাসুরাঃ including demons, সহগন্ধর্বাঃ along with gandharvas, সনাগনরদেবতাঃ along with the nagas, men and gods, সসাগরধরাধরাঃ including on the seas, mountains, সর্বলোকাঃ all worlds, তে to you, বিদিতাঃ are known.

গতির্বেগশ্চ তেজশ্চ লাঘবং চ মহাকপে৷

পিতুস্তে সদৃশং বীর! মারুতস্য মহৌজসঃ৷৷4.44.5৷৷


বীর O hero, মহাকপে O great monkey, তে your, গতিঃ in movement, বেগশ্চ in speed, তেজশ্চ in brilliance, লাঘবং চ in movement and speed, পিতুঃ father's, মহৌজসঃ mighty, মারুতস্য of the Wind-god, সদৃশম্ similar.

'O hero, O great monkey! in movement, speed, brilliance and quickness you are similar to your mighty father, the Wind-god.
তেজসা বাপি তে ভূতং ন সমং ভুবি ন বিদ্যতে৷

তদ্যথা লভ্যতে সীতা তত্ত্বমেবোপপাদয৷৷4.44.6৷৷


তেজসা বাপি in brilliance, তে to you, সমম্ equal, ভূতম্ a being, ভুবি in the world, ন বিদ্যতে does not exist, তত্ therefore, সীতা Sita, যথা as such, লভ্যতে is secured, তত্ that way, ত্বমেব you alone, অপপাদয should go ahead.

'I do not know any living being equal to you in brilliance on this earth. Therefore, you alone know how to secure Sita.Go ahead
ত্বয্যেব হনুম! ন্নস্তি বলং বুদ্ধিঃ পরাক্রমঃ৷

দেশকালানুবৃত্তিশ্চ নযশ্চ নযপণ্ডিত৷৷4.44.7৷৷


নযপণ্ডিত! O learned one, হনুমন্ Hanuman, বলম্ strength, বুদ্ধিঃ wisdom, পরাক্রমঃ prowess, দেশকালানুবৃত্তিশ্চ acting in accordance with time and place, নযশ্চ knowledge of statecraft, ত্বয্যেব in you only, অস্তি I exist.

'O learned Hanuman! I am of opinion that in you alone rest strength, wisdom, prowess, ability to act in accordance with time and place and knowledge of statecraft'.
ততঃ কার্যসমাসঙ্গমবগম্য হনূমতি৷

বিদিত্বা হনুমন্তং চ চিন্তযামাস রাঘবঃ৷৷4.44.8৷৷


ততঃ then, রাঘবঃ Rama, হনূমতি in Hanuman, কার্যসমাসঙ্গম্ responsibility of achieving the goal, অবগম্য having understood, হনুমন্তং চ Hanuman also, বিদিত্বা knowing, চিন্তযামাস reflected.

Having understood that Hanuman was capable of accomplishing the goal, Rama started reflecting as follows:
সর্বথা নিশ্চিতার্থোযং হনূমতি হরীশ্বরঃ৷

নিশ্চিতার্থকরশ্চাপি হনূমান্কার্যসাধনে৷৷4.44.9৷৷


অযম্ this, হরীশ্বরঃ monkey king, সর্বথা all means, হনূমতি Hanumanta, নিশ্চিতার্থঃ sure, কার্যসাধনে in accomplishing the task, হনুমান্ Hanuman, নিশ্চিতার্থকরশ্চাপি sure of accomplishing the task.

'This monkey king, Sugriva has confidence in Hanuman that he will by all means accomplish the task.'
তদেবং প্রস্থিতস্যাস্য পরিজ্ঞাতস্য কর্মভিঃ৷

ভর্ত্রা পরিগৃহীতস্য ধ্রুবঃ কার্যফলোদযঃ৷৷4.44.10৷৷


তত্ since, এবম্ in that way, প্রস্থিতস্য of a person who goes forth, কর্মভিঃ with his tasks, পরিজ্ঞাতস্য who is known, ভর্ত্রা king Sugriva, পরিগৃহীতস্য favoured, অস্য his, কার্যফলোদযঃ success in his task, ধ্রুবঃ sure.

'The king Sugriva knows for sure that if Hanuman goes forth, success is assured. So he favours him.'
তং সমীক্ষ্য মহাতেজা ব্যবসাযোত্তরং হরিম্৷

কৃতার্থ ইব সংবৃত্তঃ প্রহৃষ্টেন্দ্রিযমানসঃ৷৷4.44.11৷৷


মহাতেজাঃ mighty Rama, ব্যবসাযোত্তরম্ with a resolute answer, তম্ him, Hanuman, হরিম্ monkey, সমীক্ষ্য on looking at, প্রহৃষ্টেন্দ্রিযমানসঃ very glad at heart, কৃতার্থ ইব as if he has accomplished, সংবৃত্তঃ he became.

The mighty Rama was happy in his heart to see Hanuman. He felt as if the task is achieved.
দদৌ তস্য ততঃ প্রীতস্স্বনামাঙ্কোপশোভিতম্৷

অঙ্গুলীযমভিজ্ঞানং রাজপুত্র্যাঃ পরন্তপঃ৷৷4.44.12৷৷


ততঃ then, পরন্তপঃ scorcher of enemies, প্রীতঃ delighted, স্বনামাঙ্কোপশোভিতম্ one on which his name is inscribed, অঙ্গুলীযম্ ring, রাজপুত্র্যা: to the princess, অভিজ্ঞানম্ as a token of recognition, তস্য to him, দদৌ gave.

Rama, scorcher of enemies, gladly gave Hanuman a ring inscribed with his name as a mark of identification by princess (Sita). And said:
অনেন ত্বাং হরিশ্রেষ্ঠ! চিহ্নেন জনকাত্মজা৷

মত্সকাশাদনুপ্রাপ্তমনুদ্বিগ্নানুপশ্যতি৷৷4.44.13৷৷


হরিশ্রেষ্ঠ O distinguished monkey!, অনেন by this, চিহ্নেন by this signet, জনকাত্মজা Janaka's daughter, ত্বাম্ you, মত্সকাশাত্ from me, অনুপ্রাপ্তম্ have come to her, অনুদ্বিগ্না without any hesitation, অনুপশ্যতি will greet you.

'O distinguished monkey! Janaka's daughter will greet you without any hesitation when you present this signet to her. She will know that you have come from me.
ব্যবসাযশ্চ তে বীর! সত্ত্বযুক্তশ্চ বিক্রমঃ৷

সুগ্রীবস্য চ সন্দেশস্সিদ্ধিং কথযতীব মে৷৷4.44.14৷৷


বীর! O hero, তে your, ব্যবসাযঃ efforts, সত্ত্বযুক্তঃ endowed with prowess, বিক্রমশ্চ courage, সুগ্রীবস্য Sugriva's, সন্দেশশ্চ message to you, মে to me, সিদ্ধিম্ achievement, কথযতীব as if telling me.

'O great hero! your enterprise, prowess coupled with courage and Sugriva's message to you seem to indicate to me about the success of your mission'.
স তদ্গৃহ্য হরিশ্রেষ্ঠঃ স্থাপ্য মূর্ধ্নি কৃতাঞ্জলিঃ৷

বন্দিত্বা চরণৌ চৈব প্রস্থিতঃ প্লবগোত্তমঃ৷৷4.44.15৷৷


প্লবগোত্তমঃ foremost of the monkeys, সঃ he, হরিশ্রেষ্ঠঃ greatest of monkeys, গৃহ্য after taking, মূর্ধ্নি on his forehead, স্থাপ্য after placing, কৃতাঞ্জলিঃ saluted with folded palms, চরণৌ চৈব and the feet also, বন্দিত্বা having offered salutation, প্রস্থিতঃ departed.

The foremost among the monkeys took the ring given to him, placed it on his forehead and saluated it with folded palms. He then prostrated at the feet of Rama and departed.
স তত্প্রকর্ষন্ হরীণাং মহদ্বলং

বভূব বীরঃ পবনাত্মজঃ কপিঃ৷

গতাম্বুদে ব্যোম্নি বিশুদ্ধমণ্ডলঃ

শশীব নক্ষত্রগণোপশোভিতঃ৷৷4.44.16৷৷


হরীণাম্ of monkeys, মহত্ great, তত্ বলম্ that army, প্রকর্ষন্ being foremost among them, বীরঃ hero, পবনাত্মজঃ son of the Wind-god, সঃ কপিঃ that monkey, গতাম্বুদে cloudless, ব্যোম্নি in the sky, নক্ষত্রগণোপশোভিতঃ adorned by hosts of stars, শশীব like the Moon, বভূব appeared.

Like the moon adorned by hosts of stars in the cloudless sky, the mighty heroic Hanuman, the great son of the Wind-god, shone in the midst of the army of monkeys.
অতিবল! বলমাশ্রিতস্তবাহং

হরিবরবিক্রম বিক্রমৈরনল্পৈঃ৷

পবনসুত! যথাভিগম্যতে সা

জনকসুতা হনুমং! স্তথা কুরুষ্ব৷৷4.44.17৷৷


অতিবল! O mighty one, হরিবরবিক্রম O valiant among the vanaras, পবনসুত O son of the Wind-god!, হনুমন্ O Hanuman, অহম্ I, তব your, বলম্ strength, আশ্রিতঃ depending, অনল্পৈঃ with mighty, বিক্রমৈঃ valour, সা that, জনকসুতা daughter of Janaka, যথা in such a way, অভিগম্যতে can be found, তথা in such a way that, কুরুষ্ব do.

O Hanuman! son of the Wind-god, O valiant among the Vanaras, I bank on your strength. Do whatever you can with your mighty valour so that the daughter of Janaka can be found.
