[Hanuman chances upon Mandodari, wife of Ravana -- mistakes her for Sita on account of her beauty and charm.]

తత్ర దివ్యోపమం ముఖ్యం స్ఫాటికం రత్నభూషితమ్.

అవేక్షమాణో హనుమాన్ దదర్శ శయనాసనమ్৷৷5.10.1৷৷

దాన్తకాఞ్చనచిత్రాఙ్గైర్వైడూర్యైశ్చ వరాసనైః.

మహార్హాస్తరణోపేతైరుపపన్నం మహాధనైః৷৷5.10.2৷৷


తత్ర there, ఆవేక్షమాణః while looking around, హనుమాన్ Hanuman, దివ్యోపమమ్ fine, heavenly ముఖ్యమ్ foremost, స్ఫాటికమ్ made with crystals, రత్నభూషితమ్ encrusted with gems, దాన్తకాఞ్చనచిత్రాఙ్గైః inlaid with colourful ivory and gold, వైడూర్యైః with Vaidurya, మహార్హాస్తరణోపేతైః with exquisite coverings, మహాధనైః rich, వరాసనైః fine dais, ఉపేతమ్ endowed with, శయనాసనమ్ couch, దదర్శ observed.

Looking around, Hanuman noticed a bed chamber, with a heavenly dais on which he saw a couch encrusted with crystals, vaidurya, and inlaid with colourful ivory and gold. It had an exquisite rich covering.
తస్య చైకతమే దేశే సోగ్య్రమాలావిభూషితమ్.

దదర్శ పాణ్డురం ఛత్రం తారాధిపతిసన్నిభమ్৷৷5.10.3৷৷


సః that Hanuman, తస్య its, ఏకతమే in one, దేశే spot, అగ్య్రమాలావిభూషితమ్ decorated with best of garlands, తారాధిపతిసన్నిభమ్ like the Moon, పాణ్డురమ్ white, ఛత్రమ్ umbrella, దదర్శ saw.

Hanuman saw an umbrella in one spot decorated with the best of garlands. The white umbrella looked like the Moon, lord of stars.

జాతరూపపరిక్షిప్తమ్ made of gold, చిత్రభానుసమప్రభమ్ shining like the Sun, అశోకమాలావితతమ్ decorated with Ashoka flowers, వాలవ్యజనహస్తాభిః women holding fans made of the hair of chamari deer, సమన్తతః all over, వీజ్యమానమ్ he was being, వివిధైః several, గన్ధైః with fragrants, జుష్టమ్ full of, వరధూపేన with excellent fragrants, ధూపితమ్ smoky, పరమాస్తరణాస్తీర్ణమ్ spread with the best of bed-spreads, ఆవికాజినసంవృతమ్ covered with soft sheep skin, సమన్తాత్ all over, వరమాల్యానామ్ of beautiful garlands, దామభిః by strings, ఉపశోభితమ్ delightful-looking, పరమాసనమ్ exquisite couch, దదర్శ saw.

He saw an exquisite couch made of gold shining wonderfully like the Sun. It was decorated with ashoka flowers. Women were holding fans of chamari deer. It was upholstered with the best of bed-spreads made of soft sheep skin and adorned with beautiful strings of flower garlands. Scented with aromatic smoke, it was refreshed with fragrance which had spread all over the place.
తస్మిన్ జీమూతసంకాశం ప్రదీప్తోత్తమకుణ్డలమ్.

లోహితాక్షం మహాబాహుం మహారజతవాససమ్৷৷5.10.7৷৷

లోహితేనానులిప్తాఙ్గం చన్దనేన సుగన్ధినా.

సన్ధ్యారక్తమివాకాశే తోయదం సతటిద్గణమ్৷৷5.10.8৷৷

వృతమాభరణైర్దివ్యైః సురూపం కామరూపిణమ్.

సవృక్షవనగుల్మాఢ్యం ప్రసుప్తమివ మన్దరమ్৷৷5.10.9৷৷

క్రీడిత్వోపరతం రాత్రౌ వరాభరణభూషితమ్.

ప్రియం రాక్షసకన్యానాం రాక్షసానాం సుఖావహమ్৷৷5.10.10৷৷

పీత్వాప్యుపరతం చాపి దదర్శ స మహాకపిః.

భాస్వరే శయనే వీరం ప్రసుప్తం రాక్షసాధిపమ్৷৷5.10.11৷৷


సః that, మహాకపిః great monkey, జీమూతసంకాశమ్ like a cloud, ప్రదీప్తోత్తమకుణ్డలమ్ with flashing ear-rings, లోహితాక్షమ్ with red eyes, మహాబాహుమ్ of huge arms, మహారజతవాససమ్ adorned in robes of silver texture, లోహితేన red-coloured, సుగన్ధినా fragrants, చన్దనేన of sandal, అనులిప్తాఙ్గమ్ limbs smeared with, దివ్యైః wonderful, ఆభరణైః with ornaments, వృతమ్ decked, సన్ధ్యారక్తమ్ at twilight, సతటిద్గణమ్ streaked with lightning, ఆకాశే in the sky, తోయదమివ like a cloud, సురూపమ్ form, కామరూపిణమ్ one who could change form at free will, వరాభరణభూషితమ్ adorned with choicest ornaments, రాత్రౌ in the night, క్రీడిత్వా after enjoyment, ఉపరతమ్ resting, సవృక్షవనగుల్మాఢ్యమ్ rich with trees and wild bushes, ప్రసుప్తమ్ sleeping, మన్దరమ్ ఇవ like a Mandara mountain, రాక్షసకన్యానామ్ for ogresses, ప్రియమ్ beloved, రాక్షసానామ్ for demons, సుఖావహమ్ bringer of joy, పీత్వా after drinking, ఉపరతమ్ resting on, తస్మిన్ on that, భాస్వరే glittering, శయనే on bed, ప్రసుప్తమ్ sleeping, వీరమ్ heroic, రాక్షసాధికమ్ lord of demons, దదర్శ saw.

Hanuman saw the mighty-armed, heroic lord of demons, sleeping with huge blood-shot eyes looking like a cloud, he was adorned with flashing ear-rings, and clad in robes of silver texture. His body was smeared with red sandal paste of sweet fragrance. Therefore, he looked like a cloud reddened by twilight and flashing with the lightning of his ornaments. He was handsome and could assume any form at will. He looked like Mandara mountain surrounded thickly with trees and wild bushes. Decked with exquisite ornaments, he was sleeping after dalliance at night on that glittering couch. He was the beloved of the ogresses and bringer of joy to them
నిఃశ్వసన్తం యథా నాగం రావణం వానరర్షభః.

ఆసాద్య పరమోద్విగ్నస్సోపాసర్పత్సుభీతవత్৷৷5.10.12৷৷


సః వానరర్షభః the bull among the vanaras, నాగం యథా like a snake, నిఃశ్వసన్తమ్ breathing
heavily, రావణమ్ Ravana, ఆసాద్య having reached, పరమోద్విగ్నః very frightened, సుభీతవత్ like a person in terrible fear, అపాసర్పత్ drew away

Having reached Ravana, who was breathing (hissing) like a snake, Hanuman was for a moment frightened and drew away from him as if he was put to terrible fear.
అథారోహణమాసాద్య వేదికాన్తరమాశ్రితః.

సుప్తం రాక్షసశార్దూలం ప్రేక్షతే స్మ మహాకపిః৷৷5.10.13৷৷


మహాకపిః great vanara, అథ then, ఆరోహణమ్ stairway, ఆసాద్య on reaching, వేదికాన్తరమ్ another altar, ఆశ్రితః approached, సుప్తమ్ sleeping, రాక్షసశార్దూలమ్ tiger among ogres, ప్రేక్షతే స్మ glanced once again.

The great vanara ascended the stairway and reached another altar and once again looked at the sleeping Ravana, the tiger among demons.
శుశుభే రాక్షసేన్ద్రస్య స్వపతః శయనోత్తమమ్.

గన్ధహస్తిని సంవిష్టే యథా ప్రస్రవణం మహత్৷৷5.10.14৷৷


స్వపతః sleeping, రాక్షసేన్ద్రస్య lord of rakshasa's, శయనోత్తమమ్ magnificent couch, గన్ధహస్తిని elephant in rut, సంవిష్టే is sleeping, మహత్ great, ప్రస్రవణం యథా like Prasravana hill, శుశుభే looked lovely.

While the lord of demons lay asleep on the magnificent couch, he looked like the Prasravana hill with its elephant in rut.
కాఞ్చనాఙ్గదసన్నధ్దై చ దదర్శ స మహాత్మనః.

విక్షిప్తౌ రాక్షసేన్ద్రస్య భుజావిన్ద్రధ్వజోపమౌ৷৷5.10.15৷৷

ఐరావతవిషాణాగ్రైరాపీడనకృతవ్రణౌ.

వజ్రోల్లిఖితపీనాంసౌ విష్ణుచక్రపరిక్షతౌ৷৷5.10.16৷৷

పీనౌ సమసుజాతాంసౌ సంగతౌ బలసంయుతౌ.

సులక్షణనఖాఙ్గుష్ఠా స్వఙ్గులీతలలక్షితౌ৷৷5.10.17৷৷

సంహతౌ పరిఘాకారౌ వృత్తౌ కరికరోపమౌ.

విక్షిప్తౌ శయనే శుభ్రే పఞ్చశీర్షావివోరగౌ৷৷5.10.18৷৷

శశక్షతజకల్పేన సుశీతేన సుగన్ధినా.

చన్దనేన పరార్ధ్యేన స్వనులిప్తౌ స్వలఙ్కృతౌ৷৷5.10.19৷৷

ఉత్తమస్త్రీవిమృదితౌ గన్ధోత్తమనిషేవితౌ.

యక్షపన్నగగన్ధర్వదేవదానవరావిణౌ৷৷5.10.20৷৷


సః that, మహాత్మనః the great self, రాక్షసేన్ద్రస్య demon king's, కాఞ్చనాఙ్గదనసద్ధౌ two arms adorned with golden straps, విక్షిప్తౌ ల్యిన్గ lying, ఇన్ద్రధ్వజోపమౌ like the pair of flag staff of Indra, ఐరావతవిషాణాగ్రైః torn by Iravata, the vehicle of Indra, ఆపీడనకృతవ్రణౌ having scars caused by injury, వజ్రోల్లిఖితపీనాంసౌ arms with scars caused by the thunderbolt of Indra, విష్ణుచక్రపరిక్షతౌ wounded by Visnu's discus, పీనౌ fleshy, సమసుజాతాంసౌ well-built, fleshy arms, సఙ్గతౌ tough, బలసంయుతౌ strong, సులక్షణనఖాఙ్గుష్ఠౌ on shapely thumb nails, స్వఙ్గులీతల లక్షితౌ on shapely palms and fingers, సంహతౌ well-fixed, పరిఘాకారౌ like iron crowbars, వృత్తౌ rounded, కరికరోపమౌ resembling elephant tusk, శుభ్రే on a clean, శయనే couch, విక్షిప్తౌ lying, పఞ్చశీర్షౌ like five-hooded, ఉరగౌ ఇవ like two serpents, శశక్షతజకల్పేన like the colour of the hare's blood, సుశీతేన by cool, సుగన్ధినా with fragrant, పరార్థ్యేన fine, చన్దనేన by sandal paste, స్వనులిప్తౌ be smeared, స్వలఙ్కృతౌ well-decorated, ఉత్తమస్త్రీవిమృదితౌ massaged by the best of women, గన్ధోత్తమనిషేవితౌ anointed by best of fragrants, యక్షపన్నగగన్ధర్వదేవదానవరావిణౌ which can make yakshas, pannagas, gandharvas, gods and demons cry in terror, భుజౌ arms, దదర్శ saw.

Hanuman saw the great Ravana's arms, which were like a pair of Indra's flag staff adorned with golden straps. The arms bore the marks of wounds caused by Airavata, (Indra's elephant), torn by the thunderbolt of Indra in war, and wounded by the discus of Lord Visnu. His strong, fleshy, well-built arms, having auspicious thumb-nails, shapely fingers and palms, pressed together, resembled the iron crowbars or beam used for main doors. The arms resembled elephant's trunks, tossed on a clean bed,
resembling two five-hooded snakes (fingers like hoods), besmeared with cool, fragrant, red sandal-paste of excellent quality which looked red like the hare's blood. They were well massaged by the best of women with fine, fragrant sandal paste. They were the arms which could make yakshas, pannagas, gods and demons roar in fear at their sight.
దదర్శ స కపిస్తత్ర బాహూ శయనసంస్థితౌ.

మన్దరస్యాంతరే సుప్తౌ మహాహీ రుషితావివ৷৷5.10.21৷৷


సః కపిః that vanara, తత్ర there, మన్దరస్య mount Mandara's, అన్తరే in the cave, సుప్తౌ asleep, రుషితౌ angry, మహాహీ ఇవ like two serpents, శయనసంస్థితౌ placed on the bed, బాహూ two arms, దదర్శ saw.

The vanara, gazed at the arms of Ravana placed on the couch that appeared like two angry snakes asleep in a cave on (the lap) of mount Mandara.
తాభ్యాం స పరిపూర్ణాభ్యాం భుజాభ్యాం రాక్షసేశ్వరః.

శుశుభేచలసఙ్కాశః శృఙ్గాభ్యామివ మన్దరః৷৷5.10.22৷৷


అచలసఙ్కాశః (he) appeared like a mountain, సః he, రాక్షసేశ్వరః lord of demon, పరిపూర్ణాభ్యామ్ fully developed, తాభ్యామ్ with both of them, భుజాభ్యామ్ with arms, శృఙ్గాభ్యామ్ with two peaks, మన్దరః ఇవ resembled mount Mandara, శుశుభే shone.

The lord of demons looked splendid like a mountain with his long, fully developed arms. He appeared like Mandara mountain with two lofty peaks.
చూతపున్నాగసురభిర్వకులోత్తమసంయుతః.

మృష్టాన్నరససంయుక్తః పానగన్ధపురస్కృతః৷৷5.10.23৷৷

తస్య రాక్షససింహస్య నిశ్చక్రామ మహాముఖాత్.

శయానస్య వినిఃశ్వాసః పూరయన్నివ తద్ గృహమ్৷৷5.10.24৷৷


శయానస్య while he was sleeping, తస్య రాక్షససింహస్య of that of lion of demons, మహాముఖాత్ from his huge mouth, చూతపున్నాగసురభిః fragrance of Punnaga and Mango blossoms, వకులోత్తమసంయుతః and mixed with the fragrance of the best of Bakula flowers, మృష్టాన్నరససంయుక్తః mixed with aroma of rich food, పానగన్ధపురస్సరః and also of the aroma of drinks, వినిఃశ్వాసః breath, తత్ that, గృహమ్ home, పూరయన్నివ pervading as though, నిశ్చక్రామ spread out.

The breath released from the huge mouth of that lion of demons carried the fragrance of mango and punnaga as well as excellent Bakula flowers. It exuded the aroma of rich and delicious food and different drink. It was as though pervading the whole chamber.
ముక్తామణివిచిత్రేణ కాఞ్చనేన విరాజితమ్.

మకుటేనాపవృత్తేన కుణ్డలోజ్వలితాననమ్৷৷5.10.25৷৷

రక్తచన్దనదిగ్ధేన తథా హారేణ శోభినా.

పీనాయతవిశాలేన వక్షసాభివిరాజితమ్৷৷5.10.26৷৷

పాణ్డరేణాపవిద్ధేన క్షౌమేణ క్షతజేక్షణమ్.

మహార్హేణ సుసంవీతం పీతేనోత్తమవాససా৷৷5.10.27৷৷

మాషరాశిప్రతీకాశం నిశ్శ్వసన్తం భుజఙ్గవత్.

గాఙ్గే మహతి తోయాన్తే ప్రసుప్తమివ కుఞ్జరమ్৷৷5.10.28৷৷

చతుర్భిః కాఞ్చనైర్దీపైద్ధీప్యమానచతుర్దిశమ్.

ప్రకాశీకృతసర్వాఙ్గం మేఘం విద్యుద్గణైరివ৷৷5.10.29৷৷

పాదమూలగతాశ్చాపి దదర్శ సుమహాత్మనః.

పత్నీ: స ప్రియభార్యస్య తస్య రక్షఃపతేర్గృహే৷৷5.10.30৷৷


సః that, తస్య రక్షఃపతేః of Ravana, the lord of demons, గృహే in the palace, ముక్తామణివిచిత్రేణ
studded with pearls and gems, కాఞ్చనేన by gold, అపవృత్తేన kept aside, మకుటేన by a crown, విరాజితమ్ glittering, కుణ్డలోజ్వలితాననమ్ face shining with ear-rings, రక్తచన్దనదిగ్ధేన smeared with bright red sandal paste, హారేణ by a string of pearls, శోభినా shining, పీనాయతవిశాలేన fleshy and broad, వక్షసా on the chest, అభివిరాజితమ్ very splendid, పాణ్డరేణ white, అపవిద్ధేన in disarray, క్షౌమేణ by silken cloth, క్షతజేక్షణమ్ having blood-red eyes, మహార్హేణ with an excellent, పీతేన with yellow, ఉత్తమవాససా with very expensive cloth, సుసంవీతమ్ covered well,మాషరాశిప్రతీకాశమ్ resembling a heap of blackbeans, భుజఙ్గవత్ like a snake, నిఃశ్వసన్తమ్ sighing heavily, మహతి in a large, గాఙ్గే on Ganga, తోయాన్తే on the edge of water, ప్రసుప్తమ్ sleeping, కుఞ్జరమ్ ఇవ like the elephant, కాఞ్చనైః golden,చతుర్భిః with four, దీపైః with lamps, దీప్యమానచతుర్దిశమ్ illumined on all four sides, విద్యుద్గణైః by the flashes of lightning, ప్రకాశీకృతసర్వాఙ్గమ్ all his limbs lit up, ప్రియభార్యస్య and his dear wives, సుమహాత్మనః that great Ravana, పాదమూలగతాః seated at the feet, పత్నీశ్చ wives, దదర్శ saw.

Hanuman saw Ravana, whose face was lit up by his ear-rings. His shining head-gear studded with gold and pearls was set aside. His fleshy, broad chest on which the pearl necklace had slightly receded from its position(as he was asleep) was shining along with the red sandal paste. He had put on a splendid white silken cloth which had also slipped a little and was covered with exquisitely rich yellow upper garment. His eyes were blood-red. His body was comparable to a heap of blackbeans. He was sighing heavily like a hissing snake. He appeared like an elephant sleeping on the banks of the great river Ganges. With four golden lamps glowing on four sides of the bed,the four directions were illuminated. All his limbs lit up bright (with the glow of lamps), he looked like a cloud with streaks of lightning. His dear wives were seen resting at his feet in the palace of the lord of demons.
శశిప్రకాశవదనాశ్చారుకుణ్డలభూషితాః.

అమ్లానమాల్యాభరణా దదర్శ హరియూథపః৷৷5.10.31৷৷


హరియూథపః leader of vanaras, శశిప్రకాశవదనాః women with faces splendid like the Moon, చారుకుణ్డలభూషితాః adorned with beautiful ear-rings, అమ్లానమాల్యాభరణాః wearing ever fresh garlands of flowers, దదర్శ saw.

Hanuman, the leader of vanaras found the wives of Ravana, whose faces were bright as the Moon, adorned with beautiful ear-rings and fresh floral garlands.
నృత్తవాదిత్రకుశలా రాక్షసేన్ద్రభుజాఙ్కగాః.

వరాభరణధారిణ్యో నిషణ్ణా దదృశే హరిః৷৷5.10.32৷৷


హరిః Hanuman, నృత్తవాదిత్రకుశలాః women proficient in dancing and playing musical instruments, రాక్షసేన్ద్రభుజాఙ్కగాః resting on his arms and lap, వరాభరణధారిణ్యః wearing fine jewellery,నిషణ్ణాః leaning,దదృశేsaw.

Hanuman saw the women there wearing fine jewellery, performing dances, playing musical instruments, and resting on the lap or leaning on the arms of the demon king.
వజ్రవైడూర్యగర్భాణి శ్రవణాన్తేషు యోషితామ్.

దదర్శ తాపనీయాని కుణ్డలాన్యఙ్గదాని చ৷৷5.10.33৷৷


యోషితామ్ of those women there, శ్రవణాన్తేషు fixed to their ears, వజ్రవైడూర్యగర్భాణి encrusted with diamonds and Vaidurya, తాపనీయాని shining armlets of gold, కుణ్డలాని ear-rings, అఙ్గదాని చ and Angadas (bracelets worn on upper arms), దదర్శ saw.

He noticed on the earlobes of the the women gold ear-rings decked with diamonds and vaidurya. They were wearing shining armlets of gold.
తాసాం చన్ద్రోపమైర్వక్త్రైశ్శుభైర్లలితకుణ్డలైః.

విరరాజ విమానం తన్నభస్తారాగణైరివ৷৷5.10.34৷৷


లలితకుణ్డలైః by lovely ear-rings, చన్ద్రోపమైః Moon like, శుభైః by beautiful, తాసామ్ their, వక్త్రై: with countenance, తత్ విమానమ్ that exceptional cot, తారాగణైః with hosts of stars, నభః ఇవ like the sky, విరరాజ resplendent.

There the beautiful moon-like faces of women Illumined by the lovely ear-rings lay on the cot which looked resplendent like the sky lit up with hosts of stars.
మదవ్యాయామఖిన్నాస్తా రాక్షసేన్ద్రస్య యోషితః.

తేషు తేష్వవకాశేషు ప్రసుప్తాస్తనుమధ్యమాః৷৷5.10.35৷৷


మదవ్యాయామఖిన్నాః exhausted by drinking, తనుమధ్యమాః women of slender waist, తాః those, రాక్షసేన్ద్రస్య demon king's, యోషితః wives, తేషు తేషు here and there, అవకాశేషు after having dalliance, ప్రసుప్తాః slept.

Exhausted by drinking and indulging in amorous sport, the consorts of Ravana slept here and there with their visible slender waists.
అఙ్గహారైస్తథైవాన్యా కోమలైర్నృత్తశాలినీ.

విన్యస్తశుభసర్వాఙ్గీ ప్రసుప్తా వరవర్ణినీ৷৷5.10.36৷৷


అన్యా a certain woman, నృత్తశాలినీ a danseuse, వరవర్ణినీ of exceedingly beautiful complexion, కోమలైః with delicate, అఙ్గహారైః rythmic-movements of dance, తథైవ due to her dance habit, విన్యస్తశుభసర్వాఙ్గీ held her limbs in a dance posture, ప్రసుప్తా slept.

Another woman exceedingly beautiful and a delicate danseuse of beautiful complexion and rhythmic movements held her limbs in a dancing posture (though asleep) due to her habit .
కాచిద్వీణాం పరిష్వజ్య ప్రసుప్తా సమ్ప్రకాశతే.

మహానదీప్రకీర్ణేవ నలినీ పోతమాశ్రితా৷৷5.10.37৷৷


వీణామ్ veena, పరిష్వజ్య hugging, ప్రసుప్తా slept, కాచిత్ one (woman), మహానదీప్రకీర్ణా floating in a large river, పోతమ్ a boat, ఆశ్రితా holding, నలినీవ like a lotus-plant, సమ్ప్రకాశతే shines.

Another woman slept hugging her veena. She shone like a lotus plant flung in a large river, clinging on to a boat. (Veena is compared to a boat and the woman to a lotus-plant in the ambience of flowing waters of the river. The entire hall had put up such a dynamic view showing hectic life of the inmates).
అన్యా కక్షగతేనైవ మడ్డుకేనాసితేక్షణా.

ప్రసుప్తా భామినీ భాతి బాలపుత్రేవ వత్సలా৷৷5.10.38৷৷


కక్షగతేనైవ held on her arm-pit, మడ్డుకేన with Madduka drum, ఇవ like ప్రసుప్తా sleeping, అన్యాః other, అసితేక్షణా dark-eyed, వత్సలా lovingly, బాలపుత్రా held a baby, భామినీవ a beautiful lady, భాతి splendid.

A woman with dark eyes asleep with a drum placed in her arm-pit looked like a beautiful mother holding her loving baby (the drum was hung to her arm with a rope).
పటహం చారుసర్వాఙ్గీ పీడ్య శేతే శుభస్తనీ.

Some charming maidens held wonderful musical instruments pressing against their bosom and slept like passionate women embracing their loved ones.
తాసామేకాన్తవిన్యస్తే శయానాం శయనే శుభే.

దదర్శ రూపసమ్పన్నామపరాం స కపిః స్త్రియమ్৷৷5.10.50৷৷

Hanuman saw some maidens lying on separate excellent beds, women richly endowed with beauty-sleeping.
ముక్తామణిసమాయుక్తైర్భూషణైః సువిభూషితామ్.

విభూషయన్తీమివ తత్స్వశ్రియా భవనోత్తమమ్৷৷5.10.51৷৷

గౌరీం కనకవర్ణాభామిష్టామన్తః పురేశ్వరీమ్.

కపిః vanara, ముక్తామణిసమాయుక్తై: with pearls and gems, భూషణైః with ornaments, సువిభూషితామ్ well decorated, స్వశ్రియా by her radiance, తత్ that, భవనోత్తమమ్ that excellent mansion, విభూషయన్తీమివ as if decorating, గౌరీమ్ woman of golden complexion, కనకవర్ణాభామ్ of golden complexion, ఇష్టామ్ favourite, అన్తఃపురేశ్వరీమ్ queen of the harem, తత్ర there, శయానామ్ sleeping, చారురూపిణీమ్ very beautiful, మన్దోదరీమ్ Mandodari.

Then the vanara saw a very beautiful woman of golden complexion decked with pearls and gems and with ornaments as if illuminating the excellent mansion with her splendour She was the king's favourite and the chief queen, Mandodari.
స తాం దృష్ట్వా మహాబాహుర్భూషితాం మారుతాత్మజః.

తర్కయామాస సీతేతి రూపయౌవనసమ్పదా৷৷5.10.53.

హర్షేణ మహతా యుక్తో ననన్ద హరియూథపః.


మహాబాహుః with long arms, సః మారుతాత్మజః that son of the Wind-god, భూషితామ్ decorated, తామ్ her, దృష్ట్వా on seeing, రూపయౌవనసమ్పదా by the wealth of her beauty and charm, సీతేతి 'this is Sita', తర్కయామాస deliberated, హరియూథపః chief of vanara, మహతా with great, హర్షేణ joy, యుక్తః endowed, ననన్ద rejoiced.

On seeing her embellished with ornaments, beauty and charm, the long armed son of the Wind-god, the chief of the vanaras thought her to be Sita and rejoiced.
ఆస్ఫోటయామాస చుచుమ్బ పుచ్ఛం ననన్ద చిక్రీడ జగౌ జగామ.

స్తమ్భానరోహన్నిపపాత భూమౌ నిదర్శయన్ స్వాం ప్రకృతిం కపీనామ్৷৷5.10.54৷৷


ఆస్ఫోటయామాస clapped his palms, పుచ్ఛమ్ tail, చుచుమ్బ kissed, ననన్ద rejoiced, చిక్రీడ played, జగౌ sang songs, జగామ went about, స్వామ్ himself, కపీనామ్ of being monkeys, ప్రకృతిమ్ nature, నిదర్శయన్ while exhibiting, స్తమ్భాన్ pillars, అరోహన్ while climbing up, భూమౌ on the land, నిపపాత jumped down.

He rejoiced clapping his palms, kissing his tail and jumping up, climbing up the pillars and jumping down on the ground in joy. Thus he exhibited his monkey nature.
ఇత్యార్షే శ్రీమద్రామాయణే వాల్మీకీయ ఆదికావ్యే సున్దరకాణ్డే దశమస్సర్గః.
Thus ends the tenth sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
