[Sita feels happy seeing auspicious signs.]

తథాగతాం తాం వ్యథితామనిన్దితాం వ్యపేతహర్షాం పరిదీనమానసామ్.

శుభాం నిమిత్తాని శుభాని భేజిరే నరం శ్రియా జుష్టమివోపజీవినః৷৷5.29.1৷৷


తథాగతామ్ as expected, వ్యథితామ్ agonized lady, అనిన్దితామ్ faultless, వ్యపేతహర్షామ్ bereft of all joy, పరిదీనమానసామ్ distressed in mind, శుభామ్ auspicious, తామ్ her, శ్రియా with benign favour of fortune, జుష్టమ్ pleased, నరమ్ man, ఉపజీవినః ఇవ like well- wishing, శుభాని auspicious, నిమిత్తాని for the sake, భేజిరే wealthy man.

Like well-wishers flocking round a person on whom fortune is smiling, omens foretelling auspicious happenings in near future appeared to Sita. She was unimpeachable. She was in agony, distressed in mind, bereft of all joy (now) standing under that Simsupa tree.
తస్యాః శుభం వామమరాలపక్ష్మ రాజీవృతం కృష్ణవిశాలశుక్లమ్.

ప్రాస్పన్దతైకం నయనం సుకేశ్యా మీనాహతం పద్మమివాభితామ్రమ్৷৷5.29.2৷৷


సుకేశ్యాః of the lady with beautiful hair, తస్యాః her, శుభమ్ auspicious, అరాలపక్ష్మరాజీవృతమ్ surrounded by a row of curved eye lashes, కృష్ణవిశాలశుక్లమ్ broad black pupils in white, వామనయనమ్ left eye, మీనాహతమ్ struck by fish, అభితామ్రమ్ reddish ring, ఏకమ్ one, పద్మమివ like lotus, ప్రాస్పన్దత throbbed.

Her left eye with a row of curved eye-lashes, the black pupils of the eye in white throbbed in an auspicious manner. The lady with her long tresses, and throbbing eye appeared like a red lotus gently struck by a fish.
భుజశ్చ చార్వఞ్చితపీనవృత్తః

పరార్థ్యకాలాగరుచన్దనార్హః.

అనుత్తమేనాధ్యుషితః ప్రియేణ

చిరేణ వామః సమవేపతాశు৷৷5.29.3৷৷


చార్వఞ్చితపీనవృత్తః beautifuly curved round and stout, పరార్థ్యకాలాగరుచన్దనార్హః deserving the application of excellent black agaru and sandal paste, అనుత్తమేన by the best, ప్రియేణ by the beloved, చిరేణ for long, అధ్యుషితః used to rest the head, వామః భుజశ్చ by the left arm, ఆశు suddenly, సమవేపత throbbed.

Her stout left arm curved beautifully, fit for excellent agaru and sandal paste once the pillow by her beloved lord for long, throbbed suddenly.
గజేన్ద్రహస్తప్రతిమశ్చ పీన

స్తయోర్ద్వయోః సమ్హతయోః సుజాతః.

ప్రస్పన్దమానః పునరూరురస్యా

రామం పురస్తాత్ స్థితమాచచక్షే৷৷5.29.4৷৷


సంహతయోః close to each other, తయోః ద్వయోః of those two, గజేన్ద్రహస్తప్రతిమః resembling an elephant's trunk, పీనః stout, సుజాతః well shaped, అస్యాః ఊరుః her thigh, ప్రస్పన్దమానః throbbing, రామమ్ Rama, పురస్తాత్ in front, స్థితమ్ stood, ఆచచక్షే indicated.

Again her round-shaped left thigh resembling an elephant's trunk started throbbing, presaging union with Rama.
శుభం పునర్హేమసమానవర్ణ

మీషద్రజోధ్వస్తమివామలాక్ష్యాః.

వాస స్స్థితాయా శ్శిఖరాగ్రదన్త్యాః

కిఞ్చిత్పరిస్రంసత చారుగాత్య్రాః৷৷5.29.5৷৷


పునః again, అమలాక్ష్యాః lady with pristine eyes, శిఖరాగ్రదన్త్యాః with round edged teeth, చారుగాత్య్రాః of the lady of beautiful limbs, స్థితాయాః standing, శుభమ్ auspicious, హేమసమానవర్ణమ్ of the colour of gold, ఈషత్ slightly, రజోధ్వస్తమివ slightly dull on account of dust, వాసః clothes, కిఞ్చిత్ a little, పరిస్రంసత slipped.

Her eyes were pristine, teeth well-shaped. The gold-hued auspicious sari on her charming limbs was now a little soiled on account of dust. It slipped slightly as she stood up. This augured well for her.
ఏతైర్నిమిత్తైరపరైశ్చ సుభ్రూః

సమ్బోధితా ప్రాగపి సాధు సిద్ధైః.

వాతాతపక్లాన్తమివ ప్రణష్టం

వర్షేణ బీజం ప్రతిసంజహర్ష৷৷5.29.6৷৷


ప్రాగపి in the past also, సాధు well, సిద్ధైః by seers, ఏతైః by these, నిమిత్తై: by the presence of omens, అపరైశ్చ and by others, సమ్బోధితా addressed, సుభ్రూః a lady with lovely eye-brows, వాతప్రక్లాన్తమ్ blighted by wind and heat, ప్రణష్టమ్ dried, బీజమ్ seed, వర్షేణ ఇవ with rain, ప్రతిసఞ్జహర్ష felt happy.

Reassured by such omens which augured well as tested by time, Sita, with beautiful eye-brows, and deep foresight experienced great joy, like a seed blighted by the wind and the Sun comes back to joyful life through a pleasing shower. (A foreteller is addressed as siddha in sanskrit dramas)
తస్యాః పునర్బిమ్బఫలాధరోష్ఠం

స్వక్షిభ్రుకేశాన్తమరాలపక్ష్మ.

వక్త్రం బభాసే సితశుక్లదంష్ట్రం

రాహోర్ముఖాచ్చన్ద్ర ఇవ ప్రముక్తః৷৷5.29.7৷৷


పునః again, తస్యాః her, బిమ్బఫలాధరోష్ఠమ్ with lips like bimba fruit, స్వక్షిభ్రుకేశాన్తమ్ beautiful eye brows, అరాలపక్ష్మ curved eyelashes extending up to her hair, సితచారుదన్తమ్ white and lovely teeth, వక్త్రమ్ mouth, రాహోః from planet Rahu, ముఖాత్ from face, ప్రముక్తః set free, చన్ద్రః ఇవ like the Moon, బభాసే shone.

Her face shining with beautiful red lips like bimba fruit, sparkling teeth, and curved eyelashes with lovely brows extending up to her hair, she appeared like a Moon released from the mouth of Rahu.
సా వీతశోకా వ్యపనీతతన్ద్రీ

శాన్తజ్వరా హర్షవిబుద్ధసత్త్వా.

అశోభతార్యా వదనేన శుక్లే

శీతాంశునా రాత్రిరివోదితేన৷৷5.29.8৷৷


ఆర్యా revered lady, సా she, వీతశోకా relieved from grief, వ్యపనీతతన్ద్రీ a lady relieved from exhaustion, శాన్తజ్వరా fears allyed, హర్షవిబుద్ధసత్త్వా a lady with her mind illumined by joy, వదనేన with her countenance, శుక్లే in the bright fortnight, ఉదితేన risen, శీతాంశునా with cool Moon, రాత్రిరివ like the night, అశోభత shone.

Revered Sita, completely relieved of grief, exhaustion gone, fears allayed, mind illumined with joy, looked charming with her countenance as a night with the Moon fully risen during the bright fortnight.
ఇత్యార్షే శ్రీమద్రామాయణే వాల్మీకీయ ఆదికావ్యే సున్దరకాణ్డే ఏకోనత్రింశస్సర్గః৷৷
Thus ends the twentyninth sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic compsed by sage Valmiki.
