[Hanuman destroys the demons in the palace]

ததஸ்ஸ கிங்கராந்ஹத்வா ஹநுமாந்த்யாநமாஸ்திதஃ.

வநஂ பக்நஂ மயா சைத்யப்ராஸாதோ ந விநாஷிதஃ৷৷5.43.1৷৷

தஸ்மாத்ப்ராஸாதமப்யேவஂ பீமஂ வித்வஂஸயாம்யஹஂ.

இதி ஸஞ்சிந்த்ய மநஸா ஹநுமாந்தர்ஷயந்பலம்৷৷5.43.2৷৷

சைத்யப்ராஸாதமாப்லுத்ய மேருஷரிங்கமிவோந்நதம்.

ஆருரோஹ கபிஷ்ரேஷ்டோ ஹநுமாந்மாருதாத்மஜஃ৷৷5.43.3৷৷

ததஃ then, ஸஃ ஹநுமாந் that Hanuman, கிங்கராந் kinkaras, ஹத்த்வா having slain, த்யாநம் reflected, ஆஸ்திதஃ resumed, மயா by me, வநம் garden, பக்நம் destroyed, சைத்யப்ராஸாதஃ the Chaitya palace, ந விநாஷிதஃ not ruined, தஸ்மாத் therefore, அத்ய now, அஹம் I, பீமம் fearsome, ப்ராஸாதம் building, ஏவம் in this way, வித்வஂஸயாமி I will destroy, கபிஷ்ரேஷ்டஃ foremost of vanaras, மாருதாத்மஜஃ son of the Wind-god, ஹநுமாந் Hanuman, மநஸா in his mind, இதி thus, ஸஞ்சிந்த்ய thinking, பலம் strength, தர்ஷயந் showed, மேருஷரிங்கமிவ like the peak of mount Meru, உந்நதம் tall, சைத்யப்ராஸாதம் Chaitya palace, உத்ல்புத்ய jumped, ஆருரோஹ climbed

Having slain the kinkaras, Hanuman stood and reflected, ' I have ruined the garden and not the palatial buildings that are like temples (Chaityas)'. Then Hanuman, son of the Wind-god, decided in his mind to show his strength and jumped on to the top of the palatial building that appeared like the peak of mount Meru.

The powerful vanara leader climbed the tall, palatial building which resembled a mountain. He looked like another Sun, just risen.

ஸஂப்ரதரிஷ்ய ச துர்தர்ஷஂ சைத்யப்ராஸாதமுத்தமம்.

ஹநுமாந்ப்ரஜ்வலந்லக்ஷ்ம்யா பாரியாத்ரோபமோபவத்৷৷5.43.5৷৷

ஹநுமாந் Hanuman, துர்தர்ஷம் indomitable, உத்தமம் fine, சைத்யப்ராஸாதம் palace building, ஸம்ப்ரதரிஷ்ய ச having surrounded லக்ஷ்ம்யா with glory, ப்ரஜ்வலந் blazing, பாரியாத்ரோபமஃ like mountain Pariyatra, அபவத் appeared

Having destroyed the fine palace building, the indomitable Hanuman was blazing with glory like the mountain Pariyatra. (one of the seven Kula mountains viz., Mahendra, Malaya, Sahya, Shuktiman, Riksha, Vindhya and Pariyatra)

ஸ பூத்வா ஸுமஹாகாயஃ ப்ரபாவாந்மாருதாத்மஜஃ.

தரிஷ்டமாஸ்போடயாமாஸ லங்காஂ ஷப்தேந பூரயந்৷৷5.43.6৷৷

ஸஃ மாருதாத்மஜஃ that son of the Wind god, ப்ரபாவாத் by his prowess, ஸுமஹாகாயஃ of a huge body, பூத்வா being, ஷப்தேந by the sound, லங்காம் Lanka, பூரயந் while filling, தரிஷ்டம் roughly, அஸ்போடயாமாஸ started patting (his arms)

Hanuman heaved his body huge with his prowess and patted his arms loudly filling the city of Lanka with that terrible sound.

தஸ்யாஸ்போடிதஷப்தேந மஹதா ஷ்ரோத்ரகாதிநா.

பேதுர்விஹங்கமாஸ்தத்ர சைத்யபாலாஷ்ச மோஹிதாஃ৷৷5.43.7৷৷

தஸ்ய by the, ஷ்ரோத்ரகாதிநா by the deafening sound, மஹதா with a loud, அஸ்போடிதஷப்தேந with the sound of patting, தத்ர there, விஹங்கமாஃ birds, பேதுஃ fell down, சைத்யபாலாஷ்ச guards of the palace, மோஹிதாஃ lost consciousness.

By the deafening sound caused by the patting, the birds fell down and the guards of the palace lost consciousness.

அஸ்த்ரவிஜ்ஜயதாஂ ராமோ லக்ஷ்மணஷ்ச மஹாபலஃ.

ராஜா ஜயதி ஸுக்ரீவோ ராகவேணாபிபாலிதஃ৷৷5.43.8৷৷

அஸ்த்ரவித் knowledgeable about all missiles, ராமஃ Rama, ஜயதாம் be victorious, மஹாபலஃ matchless warrior, லக்ஷ்மணஷ்ச Lakshmana also, ராகவேண by Rama, அபிபாலிதஃ ruled, ராஜா king, ஸுக்ரீவஃ Sugriva, ஜயதி be victorious.

'May Sri Rama, unsurpassed in the use of missiles be victorious! May his brother, mighty Lakshmana, a matchless warrior be victorious. May King Sugriva ruled by Rama be victorious.'

தாஸோஹஂ கோஸலேந்த்ரஸ்ய ராமஸ்யாக்லிஷ்டகர்மணஃ.

ஹநுமாந்ஷத்ருஸைந்யாநாஂ நிஹந்தா மாருதாத்மஜஃ৷৷5.43.9৷৷

ஷத்ருஸைந்யாநாம் of enemy army, நிஹந்தா killer, மாருதாத்மஜஃ son of the Wind-god, ஹநுமாந் Hanuman, அஹம் I, கோஸலேந்த்ரஸ்ய king of Kosala's, அக்லிஷ்டகர்மணஃ one who can acomplish any task with ease, ராமஸ்ய Rama's, தாஸஃ servant.

'I am the son of the Wind-god, destroyer of enemy army. I am a servant of Rama, the king of Kosala who can accomplish any task with ease.

ந ராவணஸஹஸ்ரஂ மே யுத்தே ப்ரதிபலஂ பவேத்.

ஷிலாபிஸ்து ப்ரஹரதஃ பாதபைஷ்ச ஸஹஸ்ரஷஃ৷৷5.43.10৷৷

ஸஹஸ்ரஷஃ in a thousand ways, ஷிலாபிஃ with rocks, பாதபைஷ்ச or even with trees, ப்ரஹரதஃ hurling, மே to me, யுத்தே in war, ராவணஸஹஸ்ரம் a thousand Ravanas, ப்ரதிபலம் match in might, து also, ந பவேத் not be.

'Not even a thousand Ravanas can stand my might in combat as I start assailing them with thousands of rocks or even trees.

அர்தயித்வா புரீஂ லங்காமபிவாத்ய ச மைதிலீம்.

ஸமரித்தார்தோ கமிஷ்யாமி மிஷதாஂ ஸர்வரக்ஷஸாம்৷৷5.43.11৷৷

ஸர்வரக்ஷஸாம் of all ogres, மிஷதாம் they keep looking, லங்காஂ புரீம் city of Lanka, அர்தயித்வா destroying, மைதிலீம் Mythili, அபிவாத்ய ச offering obeisance, ஸமரித்தார்தஃ having accomplished the task, கமிஷ்யாமி return to.

'I shall return only after accomplishing the destruction of the city of Lanka and offering obeisance to Sita, while all demons keep looking at me'.

ஏவமுக்த்வா விமாநஸ்தஷ்சைத்யஸ்தாந்ஹரியூதபஃ.

நநாத பீமநிர்ஹ்ராதோ ரக்ஷஸாஂ ஜநயந்பயம்৷৷5.43.12৷৷

ஹரியூதபஃ monkey leader, விமாநஸ்தஃ standing on the vimana, சைத்யஸ்தாந் of the palace, ஏவம் that way, உக்த்வா having said, பீமநிர்ஹ்ராதஃ making terrific sound, ரக்ஷஸாம் to the ogres, பயம் fear, ஜநயந் while creating, நநாத roared.

Having made proclamations that way from the top of the Vimana (palace) the monkey leader roared making terrific sound frightening the ogres.

தேந ஷப்தேந மஹதா சைத்யபாலாஷ்ஷதஂ யயுஃ.

கரிஹீத்வா விவிதாநஸ்த்ராந்ப்ராஸாந்கங்காந்பரஷ்வதாந்৷৷5.43.13৷৷

விஸரிஜந்தோ மஹாகாயா மாருதிஂ பர்யவாரயந்.

மஹதா with terrific, தேந ஷப்தேந by that sound, ஷதம் hundred, சைத்யபாலாஃ guards of the palace, விவிதாந் many, அஸ்த்ராந் weapons, ப்ராஸாந் darts, கங்காந் swords, பரஷ்வதாந் axes, கரிஹீத்வா after picking, யயுஃ marked, மஹாகாயாஃ those of huge bodies, விஸரிஜந்தஃ hurling, மாருதிம் Maruti, பர்யவாரயந் surrounded.

Hearing the terrific sound, a hundred gigantic guards of the palace set forth, holding different kinds of weapons like darts, swords and axes and hurled at Maruti surrounding him.

தே கதாபிர்விசித்ராபிஃ பரிகைஃ காஞ்சநாங்கதைஃ.

ஆஜக்நுர்வாநரஷ்ரேஷ்டஂ பாணைஷ்சாதித்யஸந்நிபைஃ৷৷5.43.14৷৷

தே they, விசித்ராபிஃ with astonishing, கதாபிஃ with maces, காஞ்சநாங்கதைஃ maces decorated with gold, பரிகைஃ with crowbars, ஆதித்யஸந்நிபைஃ sharp like the Sun's rays, பாணைஷ்ச with arrows, வாநரஷ்ரேஷ்டம் foremost of vanaras, அஜக்நுஃ hit.

Holding astonishing maces decorated with gold, iron crowbars and sharp arrows resembling the rays of the Sun the ogres hit Hanuman, the foremost of vanaras.

ஆவர்த இவ கங்காயாஸ்தோயஸ்ய விபுலோ மஹாந்.

பரிக்ஷிப்ய ஹரிஷ்ரேஷ்டஂ ஸ பபௌ ரக்ஷஸாஂ கணஃ৷৷5.43.15৷৷

ஸஃ that, ரக்ஷஸாஂ கணஃ horde of ogres, ஹரிஷ்ரேஷ்டம் best of vanaras, பரிக்ஷிப்ய having surrounded, கங்காயாஃ of the river Ganga, தோயஸ்ய of the water, மஹாந் huge, விபுலஃ big, ஆவர்த இவ like a whirlpool, பபௌ looked.

The demons surrounding the great monkey looked like a big whirlpool of the water of the river Ganga.

ததோ வாதாத்மஜஃ க்ருத்தோ பீம ரூபஂ ஸமாஸ்திதஃ৷৷5.43.16৷৷

ப்ராஸாதஸ்ய மஹந்தஸ்ய ஸ்தம்பஂ ஹேமபரிஷ்கரிதம்.

உத்பாடயித்வா வேகேந ஹநுமாந்பவநாத்மஜஃ৷৷5.43.17৷৷

ததஸ்தஂ ப்ராமயாமாஸ ஷததாரஂ மஹாபலஃ.

ததஃ then, வாதாத்மஜ son of the Wind-god, க்ருத்தஃ infuriated, பீமம் fearsome, ரூபம் form, ஸமாஸ்திதஃ assumed, மஹாந் great, பவநாத்மஜஃ son of the Wind-god, மஹாபலஃ mighty, ஹநுமாந் Hanuman, தஸ்ய ப்ராஸாதஸ்ய of that palace, ஹேமபரிஷ்கரிதம் decked with gold, ஸ்தம்பஂ pillar, உத்பாடயித்வா uprooted, ததஃ then, ஷததாரம் holding a hundred edged, தம் that, வேகேந swiftly, ப்ராமயாமாஸ whirled round.

Thereupon the infuriated son of the Wind-god, assumed a fearsome form, uprooted a pillar of the palace decked with gold and holding that hundred edged pillar whirled it round swiftly.

தத்ர சாக்நிஸ்ஸமபவத்ப்ராஸாதஷ்சாப்யதஹ்யத৷৷5.43.18৷৷

தஹ்யமாநஂ ததோ தரிஷ்ட்வா ப்ராஸாதஂ ஹரியூதபஃ.

ஸ ராக்ஷஸஷதஂ ஹத்த்வா வஜ்ரேணேந்த்ர இவாஸுராந்৷৷5.43.19৷৷

அந்தரிக்ஷே ஸ்திதஷ்ஷ்தீமாநிதஂ வசநமப்ரவீத்.

தத்ர thereafter, அக்நி: ச and fire, ஸமபவத் was created, ப்ராஸாதஷ்ச the palace, அபி also, அதஹ்யத was burnt, ததஃ then, ஸஃ ஹரியூதபஃ Hanuman, தரிஷ்ட்வா after seeing, இந்த்ரஃ Indra, வஜ்ரேண with a thunderbolt, அஸுராநிவ like the ogres, ராக்ஷஸஷதம் a hundred ogres, ஹத்த்வா having killed, ஷ்ரீமாந் illustrous, அந்தரிக்ஷே in the aerial region, ஸ்திதஃ stood, இதம் this, வசநம் word, அப்ரவீத் proclaimed.

Thereafter fire was generated (through friction) and with if the palace blazed. Hanuman saw the palace burning. He killed a hundred demons there as Indra killed demons with his thunderbolt. (The whirling pillar that generated fire apeared like a thunderbolt) Later he stood in the air and proclaimed this:

மாதரிஷாநாஂ ஸஹஸ்ராணி விஸரிஷ்டாநி மஹாத்மநாம்৷৷5.43.20৷৷

பலிநாஂ வாநரேந்த்ராணாஂ ஸுக்ரீவவஷவர்திநாம்.

அடந்தி வஸுதாஂ கரித்ஸ்நாஂ வயமந்யே ச வாநராஃ৷৷5.43.21৷৷

மஹாத்மநாம் huge, பலிநாம் of mighty, ஸுக்ரீவவஷவர்திநாம் of those loyal to Sugriva, மாதரிஷாநாம் of
people like me, வாநரேந்த்ராணாம் of the best of vanara leaders, ஸஹஸ்ராணி in thousands, விஸரிஷ்டாநி are despatched, வயம் we, அந்யே others, வாநராஷ்ச and vanaras, கரித்ஸ்நாம் entire, வஸுதாம் the earth, அடந்தி we are wandering.

"Thousands of huge and mighty monkeys, equal to me, loyal to king Sugriva, are coming under the orders and have been recruited from the entire earth. They are the best among monkeys.

தஷநாகபலாஃ கேசித்கேசித்தஷகுணோத்தராஃ.

கேசிந்நாகஸஹஸ்ரஸ்ய பபூவுஸ்துல்யவிக்ரமாஃ৷৷5.43.22৷৷

கேசித் some, தஷநாகபலாஃ have ten elephants strength, கேசித் some, தஷகுணோத்தராஃ ten hundred elephants strength, கேசித் some, நாகஸஹஸ்ரஸ்ய thousand elephants strength, துல்யவிக்ரமாஃ equal in power, பபூவுஃ will be.

"Of them some have the strength equal to ten elephants, others are ten times stronger, and still others have a thousand elephants' strength.

ஸந்தி சௌகபலாஃ கேசித்கேசித்வாயுபலோபமாஃ.

அப்ரமேயபலாஷ்சாந்யே தத்ராஸந்ஹரியூதபாஃ৷৷5.43.23৷৷

கேசித் some, ஓகபலாஃ strong as flood, ஸந்தி there are, கேசித் some, வாயுபலோபமாஃ have the power of wind, தத்ர there, அந்யே others, ஹரியூதபாஃ leaders of monkeys, அப்ரமேயபலாஷ்ச of immeasureable strength, ஆஸந் there are.

"Some have the strength of flood waters, some are powerful as wind and yet others have strength beyond measure.

ஈதரிக்விதைஸ்து ஹரிபிர்வரிதோ தந்தநகாயுதைஃ.

ஷதைஷ்ஷதஸஹஸ்ரைஷ்ச கோடீபிரயுதைரபி৷৷5.43.24৷৷

ஆகமிஷ்யதி ஸுக்ரீவஃ ஸர்வேஷாஂ வோ நிஷூதநஃ.

ஈத்தரிக்விதைஃ endowed with such warriors, தந்த அபிது நகாயுதை: by those using teeth and nails as weapons, ஷதைஃ in hundreds, அயுதைஃ in ayuta (ten thousand), ஷதஸஹஸ்ரைஃ a hundred thousand, கோடீபிஃ in crores, ஹரிபிஃ with vanaras also, வரிதஃ surrounded, ஸுக்ரீவஃ Sugriva, ஸர்வேஷாம் of all of them, வஃ you, நிஷூதநஃ killer, ஆகமிஷ்யதி would come here.

"Sugriva will come here with hundreds of thousands of crores of vanaras who would be fighting with their teeth and nails as weapons.

நேயமஸ்தி புரீ லங்கா ந யூயஂ ந ச ராவணஃ.5.43.25৷৷

யஸ்மாதிக்ஷ்வாகுநாதேந பத்தஂ வைரஂ மஹாத்மநா.

யஸ்மாத் since, மஹாத்மநா with great self, இக்ஷ்வாகுநாதேந with the lord of Ikshvaku dynasty, வைரம் enmity, பத்தம் is bound, இயம் this, லங்காபுரீ city of Lanka, நாஸ்தி will not be found, யூயம் even you, ந not, ராவணஃ ச and Ravana, ந also.

"You have established great enmity with the noble lord of Ikshvaku dynasty. Neither this Lanka will endure nor you, nor even Ravana will be traced.
