[Hanuman destroys the demons in the palace]

తతస్స కిఙ్కరాన్హత్వా హనుమాన్ధ్యానమాస్థితః.

వనం భగ్నం మయా చైత్యప్రాసాదో న వినాశితః৷৷5.43.1৷৷

తస్మాత్ప్రాసాదమప్యేవం భీమం విధ్వంసయామ్యహం.

ఇతి సఞ్చిన్త్య మనసా హనుమాన్దర్శయన్బలమ్৷৷5.43.2৷৷

చైత్యప్రాసాదమాప్లుత్య మేరుశృఙ్గమివోన్నతమ్.

ఆరురోహ కపిశ్రేష్ఠో హనుమాన్మారుతాత్మజః৷৷5.43.3৷৷


తతః then, సః హనుమాన్ that Hanuman, కిఙ్కరాన్ kinkaras, హత్త్వా having slain, ధ్యానమ్ reflected, ఆస్థితః resumed, మయా by me, వనమ్ garden, భగ్నమ్ destroyed, చైత్యప్రాసాదః the Chaitya palace, న వినాశితః not ruined, తస్మాత్ therefore, అద్య now, అహమ్ I, భీమమ్ fearsome, ప్రాసాదమ్ building, ఏవమ్ in this way, విధ్వంసయామి I will destroy, కపిశ్రేష్ఠః foremost of vanaras, మారుతాత్మజః son of the Wind-god, హనుమాన్ Hanuman, మనసా in his mind, ఇతి thus, సఞ్చిన్త్య thinking, బలమ్ strength, దర్శయన్ showed, మేరుశృఙ్గమివ like the peak of mount Meru, ఉన్నతమ్ tall, చైత్యప్రాసాదమ్ Chaitya palace, ఉత్ల్పుత్య jumped, ఆరురోహ climbed

Having slain the kinkaras, Hanuman stood and reflected, ' I have ruined the garden and not the palatial buildings that are like temples (Chaityas)'. Then Hanuman, son of the Wind-god, decided in his mind to show his strength and jumped on to the top of the palatial building that appeared like the peak of mount Meru.

The powerful vanara leader climbed the tall, palatial building which resembled a mountain. He looked like another Sun, just risen.
సంప్రధృష్య చ దుర్ధర్షం చైత్యప్రాసాదముత్తమమ్.

హనుమాన్ప్రజ్వలన్లక్ష్మ్యా పారియాత్రోపమోభవత్৷৷5.43.5৷৷


హనుమాన్ Hanuman, దుర్ధర్షమ్ indomitable, ఉత్తమమ్ fine, చైత్యప్రాసాదమ్ palace building, సమ్ప్రధృష్య చ having surrounded లక్ష్మ్యా with glory, ప్రజ్వలన్ blazing, పారియాత్రోపమః like mountain Pariyatra, అభవత్ appeared

Having destroyed the fine palace building, the indomitable Hanuman was blazing with glory like the mountain Pariyatra. (one of the seven Kula mountains viz., Mahendra, Malaya, Sahya, Shuktiman, Riksha, Vindhya and Pariyatra)
స భూత్వా సుమహాకాయః ప్రభావాన్మారుతాత్మజః.

ధృష్టమాస్ఫోటయామాస లఙ్కాం శబ్దేన పూరయన్৷৷5.43.6৷৷


సః మారుతాత్మజః that son of the Wind god, ప్రభావాత్ by his prowess, సుమహాకాయః of a huge body, భూత్వా being, శబ్దేన by the sound, లఙ్కామ్ Lanka, పూరయన్ while filling, ధృష్టమ్ roughly, అస్ఫోటయామాస started patting (his arms)

Hanuman heaved his body huge with his prowess and patted his arms loudly filling the city of Lanka with that terrible sound.
తస్యాస్ఫోటితశబ్దేన మహతా శ్రోత్రఘాతినా.

పేతుర్విహఙ్గమాస్తత్ర చైత్యపాలాశ్చ మోహితాః৷৷5.43.7৷৷


తస్య by the, శ్రోత్రఘాతినా by the deafening sound, మహతా with a loud, అస్ఫోటితశబ్దేన with the sound of patting, తత్ర there, విహఙ్గమాః birds, పేతుః fell down, చైత్యపాలాశ్చ guards of the palace, మోహితాః lost consciousness.

By the deafening sound caused by the patting, the birds fell down and the guards of the palace lost consciousness.
అస్త్రవిజ్జయతాం రామో లక్ష్మణశ్చ మహాబలః.

రాజా జయతి సుగ్రీవో రాఘవేణాభిపాలితః৷৷5.43.8৷৷


అస్త్రవిత్ knowledgeable about all missiles, రామః Rama, జయతామ్ be victorious, మహాబలః matchless warrior, లక్ష్మణశ్చ Lakshmana also, రాఘవేణ by Rama, అభిపాలితః ruled, రాజా king, సుగ్రీవః Sugriva, జయతి be victorious.

'May Sri Rama, unsurpassed in the use of missiles be victorious! May his brother, mighty Lakshmana, a matchless warrior be victorious. May King Sugriva ruled by Rama be victorious.'
దాసోహం కోసలేన్ద్రస్య రామస్యాక్లిష్టకర్మణః.

హనుమాన్శత్రుసైన్యానాం నిహన్తా మారుతాత్మజః৷৷5.43.9৷৷


శత్రుసైన్యానామ్ of enemy army, నిహన్తా killer, మారుతాత్మజః son of the Wind-god, హనుమాన్ Hanuman, అహమ్ I, కోసలేన్ద్రస్య king of Kosala's, అక్లిష్టకర్మణః one who can acomplish any task with ease, రామస్య Rama's, దాసః servant.

'I am the son of the Wind-god, destroyer of enemy army. I am a servant of Rama, the king of Kosala who can accomplish any task with ease.
న రావణసహస్రం మే యుద్ధే ప్రతిబలం భవేత్.

శిలాభిస్తు ప్రహరతః పాదపైశ్చ సహస్రశః৷৷5.43.10৷৷


సహస్రశః in a thousand ways, శిలాభిః with rocks, పాదపైశ్చ or even with trees, ప్రహరతః hurling, మే to me, యుద్ధే in war, రావణసహస్రమ్ a thousand Ravanas, ప్రతిబలమ్ match in might, తు also, న భవేత్ not be.

'Not even a thousand Ravanas can stand my might in combat as I start assailing them with thousands of rocks or even trees.
అర్దయిత్వా పురీం లఙ్కామభివాద్య చ మైథిలీమ్.

సమృద్ధార్థో గమిష్యామి మిషతాం సర్వరక్షసామ్৷৷5.43.11৷৷


సర్వరక్షసామ్ of all ogres, మిషతామ్ they keep looking, లఙ్కాం పురీమ్ city of Lanka, అర్థయిత్వా destroying, మైథిలీమ్ Mythili, అభివాద్య చ offering obeisance, సమృద్ధార్థః having accomplished the task, గమిష్యామి return to.

'I shall return only after accomplishing the destruction of the city of Lanka and offering obeisance to Sita, while all demons keep looking at me'.
ఏవముక్త్వా విమానస్థశ్చైత్యస్థాన్హరియూథపః.

ననాద భీమనిర్హ్రాదో రక్షసాం జనయన్భయమ్৷৷5.43.12৷৷


హరియూథపః monkey leader, విమానస్థః standing on the vimana, చైత్యస్థాన్ of the palace, ఏవమ్ that way, ఉక్త్వా having said, భీమనిర్హ్రాదః making terrific sound, రక్షసామ్ to the ogres, భయమ్ fear, జనయన్ while creating, ననాద roared.

Having made proclamations that way from the top of the Vimana (palace) the monkey leader roared making terrific sound frightening the ogres.
తేన శబ్దేన మహతా చైత్యపాలాశ్శతం యయుః.

గృహీత్వా వివిధానస్త్రాన్ప్రాసాన్ఖఙ్గాన్పరశ్వథాన్৷৷5.43.13৷৷

విసృజన్తో మహాకాయా మారుతిం పర్యవారయన్.


మహతా with terrific, తేన శబ్దేన by that sound, శతమ్ hundred, చైత్యపాలాః guards of the palace, వివిధాన్ many, అస్త్రాన్ weapons, ప్రాసాన్ darts, ఖఙ్గాన్ swords, పరశ్వథాన్ axes, గృహీత్వా after picking, యయుః marked, మహాకాయాః those of huge bodies, విసృజన్తః hurling, మారుతిమ్ Maruti, పర్యవారయన్ surrounded.

Hearing the terrific sound, a hundred gigantic guards of the palace set forth, holding different kinds of weapons like darts, swords and axes and hurled at Maruti surrounding him.
తే గదాభిర్విచిత్రాభిః పరిఘైః కాఞ్చనాఙ్గదైః.

ఆజఘ్నుర్వానరశ్రేష్ఠం బాణైశ్చాదిత్యసన్నిభైః৷৷5.43.14৷৷


తే they, విచిత్రాభిః with astonishing, గదాభిః with maces, కాఞ్చనాఙ్గదైః maces decorated with gold, పరిఘైః with crowbars, ఆదిత్యసన్నిభైః sharp like the Sun's rays, బాణైశ్చ with arrows, వానరశ్రేష్ఠమ్ foremost of vanaras, అజఘ్నుః hit.

Holding astonishing maces decorated with gold, iron crowbars and sharp arrows resembling the rays of the Sun the ogres hit Hanuman, the foremost of vanaras.
ఆవర్త ఇవ గఙ్గాయాస్తోయస్య విపులో మహాన్.

పరిక్షిప్య హరిశ్రేష్ఠం స బభౌ రక్షసాం గణః৷৷5.43.15৷৷


సః that, రక్షసాం గణః horde of ogres, హరిశ్రేష్ఠమ్ best of vanaras, పరిక్షిప్య having surrounded, గఙ్గాయాః of the river Ganga, తోయస్య of the water, మహాన్ huge, విపులః big, ఆవర్త ఇవ like a whirlpool, బభౌ looked.

The demons surrounding the great monkey looked like a big whirlpool of the water of the river Ganga.
తతో వాతాత్మజః క్రుద్ధో భీమ రూపం సమాస్థితః৷৷5.43.16৷৷

ప్రాసాదస్య మహన్తస్య స్తమ్బం హేమపరిష్కృతమ్.

ఉత్పాటయిత్వా వేగేన హనుమాన్పవనాత్మజః৷৷5.43.17৷৷

తతస్తం భ్రామయామాస శతధారం మహాబలః.


తతః then, వాతాత్మజ son of the Wind-god, క్రుద్ధః infuriated, భీమమ్ fearsome, రూపమ్ form, సమాస్థితః assumed, మహాన్ great, పవనాత్మజః son of the Wind-god, మహాబలః mighty, హనుమాన్ Hanuman, తస్య ప్రాసాదస్య of that palace, హేమపరిష్కృతమ్ decked with gold, స్తమ్భం pillar, ఉత్పాటయిత్వా uprooted, తతః then, శతధారమ్ holding a hundred edged, తమ్ that, వేగేన swiftly, భ్రామయామాస whirled round.

Thereupon the infuriated son of the Wind-god, assumed a fearsome form, uprooted a pillar of the palace decked with gold and holding that hundred edged pillar whirled it round swiftly.
తత్ర చాగ్నిస్సమభవత్ప్రాసాదశ్చాప్యదహ్యత৷৷5.43.18৷৷

దహ్యమానం తతో దృష్ట్వా ప్రాసాదం హరియూథపః.

స రాక్షసశతం హత్త్వా వజ్రేణేన్ద్ర ఇవాసురాన్৷৷5.43.19৷৷

అన్తరిక్షే స్థితశ్శ్తీమానిదం వచనమబ్రవీత్.


తత్ర thereafter, అగ్ని: చ and fire, సమభవత్ was created, ప్రాసాదశ్చ the palace, అపి also, అదహ్యత was burnt, తతః then, సః హరియూథపః Hanuman, దృష్ట్వా after seeing, ఇన్ద్రః Indra, వజ్రేణ with a thunderbolt, అసురానివ like the ogres, రాక్షసశతమ్ a hundred ogres, హత్త్వా having killed, శ్రీమాన్ illustrous, అన్తరిక్షే in the aerial region, స్థితః stood, ఇదమ్ this, వచనమ్ word, అబ్రవీత్ proclaimed.

Thereafter fire was generated (through friction) and with if the palace blazed. Hanuman saw the palace burning. He killed a hundred demons there as Indra killed demons with his thunderbolt. (The whirling pillar that generated fire apeared like a thunderbolt) Later he stood in the air and proclaimed this:
మాదృశానాం సహస్రాణి విసృష్టాని మహాత్మనామ్৷৷5.43.20৷৷

బలినాం వానరేన్ద్రాణాం సుగ్రీవవశవర్తినామ్.

అటన్తి వసుధాం కృత్స్నాం వయమన్యే చ వానరాః৷৷5.43.21৷৷


మహాత్మనామ్ huge, బలినామ్ of mighty, సుగ్రీవవశవర్తినామ్ of those loyal to Sugriva, మాదృశానామ్ of
people like me, వానరేన్ద్రాణామ్ of the best of vanara leaders, సహస్రాణి in thousands, విసృష్టాని are despatched, వయమ్ we, అన్యే others, వానరాశ్చ and vanaras, కృత్స్నామ్ entire, వసుధామ్ the earth, అటన్తి we are wandering.

"Thousands of huge and mighty monkeys, equal to me, loyal to king Sugriva, are coming under the orders and have been recruited from the entire earth. They are the best among monkeys.
దశనాగబలాః కేచిత్కేచిద్దశగుణోత్తరాః.

కేచిన్నాగసహస్రస్య బభూవుస్తుల్యవిక్రమాః৷৷5.43.22৷৷


కేచిత్ some, దశనాగబలాః have ten elephants strength, కేచిత్ some, దశగుణోత్తరాః ten hundred elephants strength, కేచిత్ some, నాగసహస్రస్య thousand elephants strength, తుల్యవిక్రమాః equal in power, బభూవుః will be.

"Of them some have the strength equal to ten elephants, others are ten times stronger, and still others have a thousand elephants' strength.
సన్తి చౌఘబలాః కేచిత్కేచిద్వాయుబలోపమాః.

అప్రమేయబలాశ్చాన్యే తత్రాసన్హరియూథపాః৷৷5.43.23৷৷


కేచిత్ some, ఓఘబలాః strong as flood, సన్తి there are, కేచిత్ some, వాయుబలోపమాః have the power of wind, తత్ర there, అన్యే others, హరియూథపాః leaders of monkeys, అప్రమేయబలాశ్చ of immeasureable strength, ఆసన్ there are.

"Some have the strength of flood waters, some are powerful as wind and yet others have strength beyond measure.
ఈదృగ్విధైస్తు హరిభిర్వృతో దన్తనఖాయుధైః.

శతైశ్శతసహస్రైశ్చ కోటీభిరయుతైరపి৷৷5.43.24৷৷

ఆగమిష్యతి సుగ్రీవః సర్వేషాం వో నిషూదనః.


ఈద్దృగ్విధైః endowed with such warriors, దన్త అపితు నఖాయుధై: by those using teeth and nails as weapons, శతైః in hundreds, అయుతైః in ayuta (ten thousand), శతసహస్రైః a hundred thousand, కోటీభిః in crores, హరిభిః with vanaras also, వృతః surrounded, సుగ్రీవః Sugriva, సర్వేషామ్ of all of them, వః you, నిషూదనః killer, ఆగమిష్యతి would come here.

"Sugriva will come here with hundreds of thousands of crores of vanaras who would be fighting with their teeth and nails as weapons.
నేయమస్తి పురీ లఙ్కా న యూయం న చ రావణః.5.43.25৷৷

యస్మాదిక్ష్వాకునాథేన బద్ధం వైరం మహాత్మనా.


యస్మాత్ since, మహాత్మనా with great self, ఇక్ష్వాకునాథేన with the lord of Ikshvaku dynasty, వైరమ్ enmity, బద్ధమ్ is bound, ఇయమ్ this, లఙ్కాపురీ city of Lanka, నాస్తి will not be found, యూయమ్ even you, న not, రావణః చ and Ravana, న also.

"You have established great enmity with the noble lord of Ikshvaku dynasty. Neither this Lanka will endure nor you, nor even Ravana will be traced.
ఇత్యార్షే శ్రీమద్రామాయణే వాల్మీకీయ ఆదికావ్యే సున్దరకాణ్డే త్రిచత్వారిశస్సర్గః৷৷
Thus ends the fortythird sarga of Sundarakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
