[Ravana hits at Lakshmana with a sharp javelin. Rama and Ravana continue to fight both releasing a volley of arrows on one another.]

tasaminaparatihatē.satarēturāvaṇōrākaṣasādhipaḥ .

karōdhaṅ ca daviguṇaṅcakarēkarōdhācacāsataramananatarama ।।6.101.1।।


tasamina by that, asatarē missile, paratihatē counteracted, rākaṣasādhipaḥ king of Rakshasas, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, daviguṇama doubled the army, karōdhama angry, cakarē, karōdhāta in anger, ananatarama later, asatarama missile

Missile being counteracted, Ravana, the king of Rakshasas, doubled the army later in anger.
mayēnavihitaṅraudaramanayadasataraṅmahādayutiḥ .

utasṛṣaṭuṅrāvaṇōbhīmaṅrāghavāyaparacakaramē ।।6.101.2।।

tataḥ then, kāramukāta with bow, saravaśaḥall over, vajarasārāṇi like the thunderbolt, dīpayamānāni flaming, śūlāni trident, gadāśaca mace, musalāni ca iron bar, niśacēruḥ issued forth

Then from his bow issued forth all over flaming tridents, maces, and iron bars like thunderbolt.
mudagarāḥkūṭapāśāśacadīpatāśacāśanayasatathā .

niṣapēturavividhāsatīkaṣaṇāvātāivayugakaṣayē ।।6.101.4।।

Several kinds of sharp multitudes of weapons and flaming thunderbolts issued forth like gales at the time of universal destruction.
tadasataraṅrāghavaśarīmānutatamāsataravidāṅvaraḥ .

jaghānaparamāsataraṇagānadharavēṇamahādayutiḥ ।।6.101.5।।


śarīmāna glorious, utatamāsataravidama best of those proficient in the use of weapons, varaḥ foremost, mahayadayutiḥ endowed with great splendour, rāghavaḥ Raghava, tata that, asatarama missile, gānadharavēṇa presided over by Gandharvas, paramāsataraṇa supreme missiles, jaghāna neutralized

Glorious Raghava, who is the best of those proficient in the use of missiles endowed with great splendour, neutralized that missile (of Ravana) with the missile presided over by Gandharvas.

rāvaṇaḥkarōdhātāmarākaṣasasauramasataramudairayata ।।6.101.6।।

ritasatataḥas they landed, samapatadabhiḥ together from the sky, patadabhiśaca falling, taiḥ they, dīpatā glowing, canadarasūrayagarahairiva like the moon sun and planets, gaganama the sky, āsīta illuminated, diśaśaca the quarters

As they landed together from the sky glowing like Sun, moon, and the planets, it illuminated the quarters.
tānicicachēdabāṇaughaiśacakarāṇitu sa rāghavaḥ .

āyudhāni ca citarāṇirāvaṇasayacamūmukhē ।।6.101.9।।

Even though pierced by Ravana with ten arrows, Rama, endowed with high energy, was not shaken.
tatōvivayāthagātarēṣusaravēṣusamitiñajayaḥ .

rāghavasatususaṅakarudadhōrāvaṇaṅbahubhiśaśaraiḥ ।।6.101.12।।


tataḥ then, samitiñajayaḥ who won battles, rāghavasatu at Raghava, susaṅakarudadhaḥ highly furious, rāvaṇama Ravana, bahubhiḥ many, śaraiḥ arrows, saravēṣu all sides, gātarēṣu limbs, vivayādha pierced

Then, Raghava, who had won many battles, became highly furious, piercing Ravana in all his limbs with many arrows.
ētasaminananatarēkarudadhōrāghavasayānujōbalī .

mahādayutiḥ endowed with extraordinary splendour, mahāvēgaiḥ at high speed, taiḥsāyakaiḥ those shafts, tasaya his, rāvaṇasaya Ravana's, manuṣayaśīraṣama device of human head, dhavajama flag post, naikadhā one, cicachēda shattered

Lakshmana, who was endowed with extraordinary splendour, for his part, with his shafts which had great force, shattered the device of man's head on the flag post of Ravana.
sāradathēśacāpibāṇēnaśirōjavalitakuṇaḍalama .

jahāralakaṣamaṇaḥśarīmānanairṛtasayamahābalaḥ ।।6.101.15।।


śarīmāna celebrated, mahābalaḥ mighty, lakaṣamaṇaḥ Lakshmana, bāṇēna by the arrows, nairṛtasaya night ranger's, sārathēḥ charioteer, javalitakuṇaḍalama glittering earrings, śiraḥ head, jahāra struck

Celebrated, mighty Lakshmana struck with his arrows, that hit the head of the charioteer of night ranger, which was glittering with earrings.
tasayabāṇaiśacacicachēdadhanuragajakarōpamama .

lakaṣamaṇōrākaṣasēnadarasayapañacabhiraniśitaisatadā ।।6.101.16।।


tadā then, lakaṣamaṇaḥ Lakshmana, niśitaiḥ sharpened, pañacabhiḥ five, bāṇaiḥ arrows, tasayarākaṣasēnadarasaya that king of Rakshasa's, gajakarōpamama resembling the trunk of elephant, dhanuḥ bow, cicachēda split

Then Lakshmana split with five sharpened arrows the bow of Rakshasa king that resembled elephant's trunk.
nīlamēghanibhāṅśacāsayasadaśavāna paravatōpamāna .

jaghānāpalutayagadayārāvaṇasayavibhīṣaṇaḥ ।।6.101.17।।


vibhīṣaṇaḥ Vibheeshana, āpalutaya formidable, gadayā with mace, asaya his, rāvaṇasaya Ravana's, nīlamēghanibhāna like dark cloud, paravatōpamāna like mountain, sadaśavāna his horses, jaghāma struck

Vibheeshana struck with his formidable mace the horses of Ravana which were like dark clouds and huge like mountains.
hatāśavātatatusavōvēgādavapalutayamahārathāta .

kōpamāhāratatīvaraṅbharātaraṅparatirāvaṇaḥ ।।6.101.18।।


tadā then, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, hatāśavāta dead horses, mahārathāta huge chariot, vēgāta speedily, avapalutaya descended, bharātaraṅparati against brother, tīvarama violent, kōpama rage, āhārayata exhibited

With the horses of his chariot dead, Ravana descended from the huge chariot and exhibited violent rage against his brother.
tataśaśakatiṅmahāśakatiradīpatāradīpatāśanīmiva .

vibhīṣaṇasayacikaṣēparākaṣasēnadaraḥparatāpavāna ।।6.101.19।।


tataḥ then, mahāśakatiḥ of extraordinary energy, paratāpavāna powerful leader, rākaṣasēnadara Rakshasa king, paradīpatāma flaming, aśanīmiva thunderbolt like, śakatima javelin, vibhīṣaṇasaya at Vibheeshana, cikaṣēpa hurled

Then, endowed with extraordinary energy, the powerful leader of Rakshasas hurled a flaming thunderbolt like javelin at Vibheeshana.
aparāpatāmēvatāṅbāṇaisataribhiśacicachēdalakaṣamaṇaḥ .

athōdatiṣaṭhatasananādōvānarāṇāṅmahāraṇē ।।6.101.20।।


lakaṣamaṇaḥ Lakshmana, aparāpatāmēva even before it reached, tāma those, taribhiḥ three, bāṇaiḥ shafts, cicachēda shattered, atha and then, mahāraṇaē in that huge conflict, vānarāṇāma Vanaras, sananādaḥcheered, udatiṣaṭhata rose

sa papātataridhāchinanāśakatiḥkāñacanamālinī .

savisaphuliṅagājavalitāmahōlakēvadivaśacayutā ।।6.101.21।।


sa: he, taridhā three parts, chinanā broken, kāñacanamālinī covered with gold, śakatiḥ javelins, divaḥ heaven, cayutā broken, mahōlakēva like a huge meteor firestick, savisaphuliṅagā emitting fire sparks, papāta fallen

The javelin, which was covered with gold, broke into three parts, and fell down like a huge meteor emitting fire sparks from the heavens.
tataḥsamabhāvitatarāṅkālēnāpidurāsadāma .

jagarāhavipulāṅśakatiṅdīpayamānāṅsavatējasā ।।6.101.22।।


tataḥ then, samabhāvitatarāma which was renowned, kālēnāpi for the god of death too, durāsadāma formidable, savatējasā shining in its own splendour, dīpayamānama shining, vipulāma huge, śakatima javelin, jagarāha seized

Then, Ravana seized hold of a huge javelin shining with its own splendour, a formidable one even for the god of death.
sāvēgitābalavatārāvaṇēnadurātamanā .

jajavālasumahātējādīpatāśanisamaparabhā ।।6.101.23।।


balavatā mighty, durātamanā evil minded, rāvaṇēna by Ravana, vēgitā endowed with speed, sumahātējāḥ highly energetic, dīpatāśanisamaparabhā splendorous like thunderbolt, sā that javelin, jajavāla shone

That javelin was endowed with speed, resembling thunderbolt in splendour, whirled round by the mighty and evil-minded Ravana, shone.
ētasaminananatarēvīrōlakaṣamaṇasataṅvibhīṣaṇama .

parāṇasaṅśayamāpananaṅtūraṇamabhayavapadayata ।।6.101.24।।


ētasamina in the meantime, anatarē, vīraḥ hero, lakaṣamaṇaḥ Lakshmana, parāṇasaṅśayama life in danger, āpananama reached, taṅvibhīṣaṇama him, that Vibheeshana, tūraṇama speedily, abhayanapadayata reached and stood obstructing

In the meantime, seeing Vibheeshana's life in danger, heroic Lakshmana reached him and stood obstructing (the javelin).
taṅvimōkaṣayituṅvīraśacāpamāyamayalakaṣamaṇaḥ .

rāvaṇaṅśakatihasataṅvaiśaravaraṣairavākirata ।।6.101.25।।


vīraḥ heroic, lakaṣamaṇaḥ Lakshmana, tama him, vimōcayituma to relieve, cāpama bow, āyamaya stretched, śakatihanatama having javelin in hand, rāvaṇama Ravana's, śaravaraṣaiḥ volley of arrows, avākirata covered

na paraharatuṅmanaśacakarēvimukhīkṛtavikaramaḥ ।।6.101.26।।

Covered by the stream of shafts discharged by the great self, Lakshmana, Ravana could not shake his hand and was not inclined in his mind to strike (Vibheeshana).
mōkaṣitaṅbharātaraṅdṛṣaṭavālakaṣamaṇēna sa rāvaṇaḥ .

lakaṣamaṇābhimukhasatiṣaṭhananidaṅvacanamabaravīta ।।6.101.27।।


saḥrāvaṇaḥ that Ravana, lakaṣamaṇēna by Lakshmana, bharātarama brother, mōkaṣitama rescued, dṛṣaṭavā seeing, lakaṣamaṇābhimukhaḥfacing Lakshmana, tiṣaṭhana stood, idama these, vacanama words, abaravīta spoke

mōkaṣitasatēbalaśalāghinayasamādēvaṅvibhīṣaṇaḥ .

vimucayarākaṣasaṅśakatisatavayīyaṅvinipātayatē ।।6.101.28।।


balaśalāghina proud of your might, yasamāta your, vibhīṣaṇaḥ Vibheeshana, tē by you, ēvama in this way, mōkaṣitaḥ rescued, iyama this, śakatiḥ javelin, rākaṣasama Rakshasa, vimucaya released from me, tavayi on you, vinipātayatē will strike at

"Lakshmana! You are proud of your might of rescuing Vibheeshana. Now this javelin released from me will strike at you."
ēṣātēhṛdayaṅbhitatavāśakatiralōhitalakaṣaṇā .

madabhāhuparighōtasṛṣaṭāparāṇānādāyayāsayati ।।6.101.29।।


lōhitalakaṣaṇā bludgeon-like arm, madabhāhuparighōtasṛṣaṭā released by my arm, ēṣā in that way, śakatiḥ javelin, tē your, hṛdayama heart, bhitatavā piercing, parāṇāna life, ādāya taking out, yāsayati will take away

rāvaṇaḥparamakarudadhaśacikaṣēpa ca nanāda ca ।।6.101.31।।

Enraged Ravana, having spoken in this manner, hurled the javelin adorned with eight bells making loud noise, designed magically by Maya, a stupendous one capable of destroying any enemy, which was glowing with shine, aiming at Lakshmana, and roared aloud.
sākaṣipatābhīmavēgēnavajarāśanisamasavanā .

śakatirabhayapatadavēgālalakaṣamaṇaṅraṇamūradhani ।।6.101.32।।

Hurled at terrific speed, that javelin, which was equal to thunderbolt, speedily went towards Lakshmana in the forefront of war.
tāmanuvayāharacachakatimāpatanatīṅ sa rāghavaḥ .

savasatayasatulakaṣamaṇaāyētimōghābhavahatōdayamā ।।6.101.33।।


saḥrāghavaḥ that Raghava, āpatanatīma coming towards, tāṅśakatima that javelin, lakaṣamaṇāya towards Lakshman, savasati may he be auspicious, asatu be, mōghā well, hatōdayamā to kill Lakshmana, bhava your, iti this, anuvayāharata be ineffective and wasted

Seeing the javelin coming towards Lakshmana, Raghava said 'May Lakshmana be auspicious. May he be well. May your attempt to kill Lakshmana be ineffective and wasted'.
rāvaṇēnaraṇēśakatiḥkarudadhēnāśīviṣōpamāḥ .

mukatāśūrasayabhītasayalakaṣamaṇasayamamajajasā ।।6.101.34।।


karudadhēna in anger, rāvaṇēna by Ravana, raṇē in battle, mukatā liberated, āśīviṣōpamā like poison of venomous serpent, sāśakatiḥ that javelin, āśustood, abhītasaya fearless, lakaṣamaṇasaya on Lakshmana, urasi chest, mamajaja pierced

Released by Ravana in anger, that javelin, which was like poison of venomous serpent, pierced into the chest of Lakshmana who stood fearless.

jihavēvōragarājasayadīpayamānāmahādayutiḥ ।।6.101.35।।


uragarājasaya king of serpents, Vasuki, dīpayamānā glowing, jihavēva like tongue, mahādayutiḥflaming, mahāvēgā at high speed, sā that javelin, lakaṣamaṇasaya Lakshman's, mahōrapi broad chest, nayapatata descended on

Glowing like the tongue of Vasuki, the king of serpents, flaming, tatajavēlina descended at high speed on the chest of Lakshmana.
tatōrāvaṇavēgēnasudūramavagāḍhayā .

śakatayāvibhinanahṛdayaḥpapātabhuvilakaṣamaṇaḥ ।।6.101.36।।


tataḥ thereafter, rāvaṇavēgēna speedily by Ravana, sudūrama very long, avagāḍhayā plunged into, vibhinanahṛdayaḥ penetrated deep into the heart, lakaṣamaṇaḥ Lakshman, bhuvi on ground, papāta fell

Thereafter, Lakshmana fell on the ground, pierced by the javelin, deep into the heart from far with great force by Ravana.
tadavasathaṅsamīpasathōlakaṣamaṇaṅparēkaṣayarāghavaḥ .

babhūvasamarabadhatarōyugānataivapāvakaḥ ।।6.101.38।।

He (Raghava) stood confused for a short while as it was, his eyes filled with tears like fire at the end of the universe.
na viṣādasayakālō.yamitisañacinatayarāghavaḥ .

cakarēsutumulaṅyudadhaṅrāvaṇasayavadhēdhṛtaḥ ।।6.101.39।।

saravayatanēnamahatālakaṣamaṇaṅparivīkaṣaya ca .


ayama this, viṣādasaya disconsolate, kālaḥ time, naḥnot, iti now, sañacinataya realizing, lakaṣamaṇama Lakshmana, parivīkaṣaya observing, rāghavaḥ Raghava, rāvaṇasaya Ravana's, vadhē destruction, dhṛtaḥdetermined, mahatā great, saravayatanēna all efforts, sutumulama fierce struggle, yudadhama battle, cakarē started

Realizing that this is not the time to be disconsolate, observing Lakshmana's efforts, Raghava resolved to destroy Ravana and started a fierce struggle.
sadadaraśatatōrāmaḥśakatayābhinanaṅmahāhavē ।।6.101.40।।

lakaṣamaṇaṅrudhirādigadhaṅsapananagamivācalama .


tataḥ then, saḥrāmaḥ that Rama, mahāhavē great war, śakatayā javelin, bhinanama pierced, rudhirādigadhama bathed in blood, sapananagama like snake, acalama iva like mountain, lakaṣamaṇama Lakshmana, dadaraśa beheld

Rama beheld Lakshmana pierced with javelin in the great war bathed in blood and resembling a mountain with a snake penetrated into it.
tāmapiparahitāṅśakatiṅrāvaṇēnabalīyasā ।।6.101.41।।

yatanatasatēhariśarēṣaṭhā na śēkuravamaradituma .

araditāśacaivabāṇaughaisatēkaṣiparahasatēnarakaṣasā ।।6.101.42 .

It was not feasible for the best of Vanaras to pull out the javelin (from Lakshmana's body) discharged with great strength from Ravana's hand, despite great efforts.

sā that, saumitari: Saumithri, vinirabhidaya piercing through, dharaṇītalama the ground, paraviṣaṭā entered, balavāna mighty, rāmaḥ Rama, samarē in battle, karudadhaḥ enraged, bhayāpahāma terrific, tāṅśakatima that javelin, karābhayāma with both hands, parāmṛśaya bending it, vicakaraṣa in the course of struggle, babhañaja ca removed

It pierced through Lakshmana's body and entered into the earth. Mighty Rama held the terrific javelin with both hands bent it and removed in the course of struggle.
tasayaniṣakaraṣataḥśakatiṅrāvaṇēnabalīyasā ।।6.101.44।।

śarāḥsaravēṣugātarēṣupātitāmaramabhēdinaḥ .


balīyasā mighty courageous, rāvaṇēna by Ravana, śakatima javelin, niṣakaraṣataḥ while pulling out, tasaya his, saravēṣu all over, gātarēṣu the limbs, maramabhēdinaḥ private parts also, śarāḥ arrows, pātitāḥ struck

While Rama was pulling out the javelin, mighty and courageous Ravana struck him in his private parts and all over the body with arrows.
acinatayitavātānabāṇānasamālaśiṣaya ca lakaṣamaṇama ।।6.101.45।।

abaravīcacahanūmanataṅsugarīvaṅ ca mahākapima .


tāna those, bāṇāna arrows, acinatayitavā not minding, lakaṣamaṇama Lakshmana, samālaśiṣaya embracing, hanūmanatama to Hanumantha, mahākapima great Vanara, sugarīvaṅca Sugriva also, abaravīcacha spoke

Not minding the arrows struck, Rama embraced Lakshmana and spoke to Hanumantha and the great Vanara Sugriva.
kaṣamaṇaṅparivārayaivatiṣaṭhadhavaṅvānarōtatamāḥ ।।6.101.46।।

parākaramasayakālō.yaṅsamaparāpatōmēcirēpasitaḥ .

pāpātamāyaṅdaśagarīvōvadhayatāṅpāpaniśacayaḥ ।।6.101.47।।

kāṅakaṣitasasatōkakasayēvagharamānatēmēghadaraśanama .


vānarōtatamāḥ O foremost of Vanaras, lakaṣamaṇama Lakshmana, parivārayaiva surrounding, pāpātamā sinful, pāpaniśacayaḥ of sinful resolve, ayaṅdaśagarīvaḥ this ten headed, vadhayatāma will put an end, gharamānē rightfully, satōkakasaya chataka bird, kāṅakaṣitama desire, mēghadaraśanimava just as clouds appeared, mē for me, cirēpasitaḥfor a long time, ayama this, parākaramasayakālaḥ time to exhibit valour, samaparāpataḥ has come asamina muhūratē in a short while now

"O foremost of Vanaras! Take care of Lakshmana by surrounding him. Just as clouds appeared before the chataka bird waiting for long, time has come to exhibit my valour which was awaited for long. Now I will destroy the ten -headed Ravana of sinful resolve rightfully in a short while from now."
asamina muhūratēnacirātasatayaṅparatiśṛṇōmivaḥ ।।6.101.48।।

arāvaṇamarāmaṅvājagadadharakaṣayathavānarāḥ .


vānarāḥ Vanaras, asamina your presence, muhūratē short while, vaḥ as, satayama truthful, paratiśṛṇōmi take this vow, jagata universe, arāvaṇama devoid of Ravana, arāmaṅvā or devoid of Rama, nacirāta very soon, darakaṣayatha you will be seeing

"O Vanaras! I take this truthful vow now in your presence. In a short while you will be seeing the world devoid of Ravana or devoid of Rama."
rājayanāśaṅvanēvāsaṅdaṇaḍakēparidhāvanama ।।6.101.49।।

vaidēhayāśacaparāmaraśaṅrakaṣōbhiśacasamāgamama .


rājayanāśama loss of kingdom, vanē in forest, vāsama living, daṇaḍakē in D and aka, paridhāvanamainsulted, rakaṣōbhiḥ by Rakshasas, vaidēhayāḥVaidehi, parāmaraśama agony, samāgamama abducted

"Leaving the kingdom, and living in D and aka forest, insulted by Rakshasa, Vaidehi in agony, abducted by Rakshasa.
parāpataṅduḥkhaṅmahadaghōraṅkalēśaśacanirayōpamaḥ ।।6.101.50।।

adayasaravamahaṅtayakaṣayēnihatavārāvaṇaṅraṇē .


mahata great, ghōrama terrific, duḥkhama sorrow, parāpatama experienced, nirayōpamaḥ torture of hell, kalēśaśaca agony, adaya today, ahama I, raṇē in battle, rāvaṇama Ravana, nihataya kill, saravama all, tayakaṣayē leave him

"This great terrific sorrow experienced by me, is like the torture of hell. I will put an end to Ravana today and leave him."
yadarathaṅvānaraṅsainayaṅsamānītamidaṅmayā ।।6.101.51।।

sugarīvaśacakṛtōrājayēnihatavāvālinaṅraṇē .

yadarathama sagaraḥkarānataḥsētuḥrābadhaśacasāgarē .

sō.yamadayaraṇēpāpaśacakaṣuraviṣamāgataḥ ।।6.101.52।।


yadarathama because of whom, mayā my, idama this, vānarama Vanaras, sainayama army, samānītama dragged, raṇē to war, vālinama Vali, nihatavā killed, sugarīvaḥ ca and Sugriva, rājayē kingdom, kṛtaḥ done, yadarathama because of that, sāgarē on the ocean, sētuḥ bridge, badadhaḥ built, sāgaraḥ ocean, karānataḥ sinful, saḥ he, ayaṅpāpaḥ this sinful, adaya today, raṇē in battle, cakaṣuraviṣayama in the range of my sight, āgataḥ has come

"Because of whom the Vanaras have been dragged into war, Vali was killed, and Sugriva was made king; because of whom the bridge was built on the ocean and crossed, such sinful one has come in the range of my sight today."
cakaṣuraviṣayamāgatayanāyaṅjīvitumarahati ।।6.101.53।।

dṛṣaṭiṅdṛṣaṭiviṣasayēvasarapasayamamarāvaṇaḥ .

yathāvāvainatēyasayadṛṣaṭiṅparāpatōbhujaṅagamaḥ ।।6.101.54।।


ayaṅrāvaṇaḥ this Ravana, mama my, cakaṣuraviṣayama range of my vision, āgataya having come, dṛṣaṭiviṣasaya poison in the vision, sarapasaya snake's, dṛṣaṭima iva vision like, vainatēsaya Garuda's, dṛṣaṭima sight, parāpataḥ come under, bhujaṅagamaḥyathāvā like the serpent, jīvituma life, nārahati not survive

"This Ravana, having come within the range of my vision, will not survive today, like the serpent having poison in the vision coming in the range of Garuda cannot survive."
savasathāpaśayataduradharaṣāyudadhaṅvānarapuṅagavāḥ .

asīnāḥparavatāgarēṣumamēdaṅrāvaṇasaya ca ।।6.101.55।।


duradharaṣāḥ difficult to encounter, vānarapuṅagavāḥ foremost leaders of Vanaras, savasathāḥ directly, paravatāgarēṣu on mountain peaks, āsīnāḥ seated, mama my, rāvaṇasaya ca Ravana's, idama this, yudadhama fight, paśayata see

"You Vanaras, who are difficult to encounter, watch perched on mountain peaks, this fight between me and Ravana."
adayarāmasayarāmatavaṅpaśayanatumamasaṅyugē .

tarayōlōkāsasaganadharavāsasadēvāsasaraṣicāraṇāḥ ।।6.101.56।।


adaya today, mama my, saṅyugē battle, saganadharavāḥ all Gandharvas, sadēvāḥ all Devas, saraṣicāraṇāḥ Rishis and Charanas, tarayaḥ three, lōkāḥ worlds, rāmasaya Rama's, rāmatavama Ramahood, paśayanatu may see

Today you may see Rama's Ramahood in the battle. All Gandharvas, all Devas, Rishis, Charanas of all the three worlds will see my fight.
adayakaramakariṣayāmiyalalōkāḥsacarācarāḥ .

sadēvāḥkathayiṣayanatiyāvadabhūmiradhariṣayati ।।6.101.57।।

samāgamayasadālōkēyathāyudadhaṅparavaratitama .


sacarācarāḥ mobile and immobile beings, sadēvāḥ all, lōkāḥ worlds, yata so also, bhūmiḥ earth, yāvata all over, dhariṣayati will be able to see, kathayiṣayanati will talk about, karama action, adaya today, kariṣayāmi will do, lōkē in the world, samāgamaya collected together, yudadhama war, yathā that way, paravaratitama will accomplish

All mobile and immobile beings of all worlds, so also on earth, will be able to see. Theywill talk about this war, collected together in the world, which I will accomplish.
ēvamukatavāśitairabāṇaisatapatakāñacanabhūṣaṇaiḥ ।।6.101.58।।

ājaghānaraṇērāmōdaśagarīvaṅsamāhitaḥ .


rāmaḥ Rama, ēvama in that manner, ukatavā having spoken, raṇē in battle, samāhitaḥ collected, tapatakāñacanabhūṣaṇaiḥ embellished with shining gold ornaments, śitaiḥ sharp, bāṇaiḥ shafts, daśagarīvama ten headed, ājaghāna to strike

Having spoken in that manner, Rama collected sharp shafts embellished with shining gold ornaments to strike the ten headed Rakshasa.
athaparadīpatairanārācairamusalaiśacāpirāvaṇaḥ ।।6.101.59।।

abhayavaraṣatatadārāmaṅdhārābhirivatōyadaḥ .


atha and then, ravāṇaḥ Ravana, paradīpatai: flaming, nārācaiḥ iron arrows, musalaiśacāpi clubs, tadā then, rāmama at Rama, tōyadaḥ cloud, dhārābhiriva like, abhayavaraṣata rained

And then Ravana rained flaming iron arrows and clubs at Rama, which looked like cloud raining arrows.
rāmarāvaṇamukatānāmanayōnayamabhinighanatāma ।।6.101.60।।

śarāṇāṅ ca śarāṇāṅ ca babhūvatumulaḥsavanaḥ .


rāmarāvaṇamukatānāma loosed by Rama and Ravana, śarāṇāṅ ca by the arrows, śarāṇāṅ ca and arrows, anayōnayama one another, abhinighanatāma clashing with each other, tumulaḥ loud, savanaḥ sound, babhūva arose

By the arrows loosed by Rama and Ravana on one another clashing with each other, a loud sound arose.
tēbhinanāśacavikīraṇāśacarāmarāvaṇayōḥśarāḥ ।।6.101.61।।

anatarikaṣātaparadīpatāgarānipēturadharaṇītalē .


rāmarāvaṇayōḥ both Rama and Ravana, śarāḥ arrows, vibhinanāśaca broken asunder, vikīraṇāśaca scattered, paradīpatāgarāḥ flaming tips, anatarikaṣāta the sky, dharaṇītalē earth, nipētuḥ fell

Broken as under and scattered arrows with flaming tips of both Rama and Ravana fell from the sky to earth (as if filling space).
tayōrajayātalaniraghōṣārāmarāvaṇayōramahāna ।।6.101.62।।

tarāsanaḥsaravabhūtānāṅbabhūvādabhutadaraśanaḥ .


tayōḥ both of them, rāmarāvaṇayōḥ Rama and Ravana, mahāna great, jayātalaniraghōṣaḥ sound of bow strings, saravabhūtānama all beings, tarāsanaḥ feared, adabhutadaraśanaḥ astonishing to witness, babhūva arose

The dreadful great sound that arose from the bow strings of both Rama and Ravana was astonishing to witness.
sakīrayamāṇaśaśarajālavṛṣaṭibhiramahātamanādīpatadhanuṣamatāraditaḥ .

bhayātaparadudarāvasamētayarāvaṇōyathāvilēnābhihatōbalāhakaḥ ।।6.101.63।।


dīpatadhanuṣamatā from the flaming bows, mahātamanā great soul, śarajālavṛṣaṭibhiḥ hails of arrows, vikīrayamāṇaḥ scattered, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, samētaya with his ministers, bhayāta out of fear, anilēna by the wind, abhihataḥ pierced, valāhakaḥyathā like cloud chased by wind, paradudarāva ran

By the hail of arrows from the bow of great soul Rama scattered, Ravana and his ministers ran from there out of fear like the clouds chased by the gale.
।। itayāraṣēvālamīkīyēśarīmadarāmāyaṇēādikāvayēyudadhakāṇaḍēēkōtataraśatatamasasaragaḥ ।।
