[Rama accuses Ravana for abducting Sita. Ravana gets confused with the rain of arrows from Rama. Seeing the situation of Ravana his charioteer takes him away from the battlefield.]

sa tēnatutadākarōdhātakākutasathēnāraditōraṇē .

rāvaṇasasamaraśalāghimahākarōdhāmupāgamata ।।6.105.1।।


tadā then, tēnakākutasathēna by Kakuthsa, karōdhāta in anger, raṇē in the war, āraditaḥpained, samaraśalāghi: proud of skill in warfare, saḥturāvaṇaḥhe Ravana, mahākarōdhama very angry, upāgamata became

Ravana, who was proud of his skill in warfare, became very angry when he was pained by Kakuthsa's arrows.
sa dīpatanayanōrōṣācacāpamāyāmayavīrayavāna .

abhayaradayatasusaṅakṛdadhōrāghavaṅparamāhavē ।।6.105.2।।

Valiant hero, Ravana, with his eyes flaming in anger, raising his bow, rained arrows at Sri Rama. He continued to rain thousands of arrows just as rain filled the tank, his arrows covered Raghava.
pūritaḥśarajālēnadhanuramukatēnasamayugē .

mahāgiririvākamapayaḥkākutasathō na parakamapatē ।।6.105.4।।

gabhasatīnivasūrayasayaparatijagarāhavīrayavāna ।।6.105.5।।


vīrayavāna valiant, saḥ he, samarē in war, sathitaḥ stood, śaraiḥ arrows, śarajālāni streams of arrows, vārayana intercepting, sūrayasaya sun's, gabhasatīniva like rays, paratijagarāha tolerated

Valiant Sri Rama stood intercepting them when streams of arrows covered him, and tolerated them like the rays of the Sun.
tataśaśarasahasarāṇikaṣiparahasatōniśācaraḥ .

nijaghānōrasikarudadhōrāghavasayamahātamanaḥ ।।6.105.6।।


tataḥ thereafter, kaṣiparahasataḥ quick-handed, niśācaraḥ night ranger, karudadhaḥ angry, mahātamanaḥ great soul, rāghavasaya Raghava's, urasi chest, śarasahasarāṇi thousands of arrows, nijaghāna struck

Thereafter the quick-handed angry night ranger struck into the chest of Raghava thousands of arrows.
sa śōṇitasamādigadhasasamarēlakaṣamaṇāgarajaḥ .

dṛṣaṭaḥphulalaivāraṇayēsumahāna kiṅśukadarumaḥ ।।6.105.7।।

kākutasatha: sumahātējāyugānatāditayatējasaḥ ।।6.105.8।।


śarābhighātasamarabadaḥ angered by the impact of arrows, sumahātējāḥ highly energetic, saḥkākutasatha: that Kakuthsa, yugānatāditayatējasaḥ like the sun blazing at the end of dissolution of the universe, sāyakāna shafts, abhijagarāha took up

Endowed with extraordinary energy, Kakuthsa, angered by the impact of arrows resembled the Sun at the end of universal dissolution, took up arrows.
tatō.nayōnayaṅsusamarabadhautāvubhaurāmarāvaṇau .

śarānadhakārēsamarēnōpalakaṣayatāṅtadā ।।6.105.9।।


tataḥ then, susamarabadhau speedily releasing arrows, tau those, ubhau both, rāmarāvaṇau Rama and Ravana, tadā then, śarānadhakārē darkened by the arrows, samarē in the battlefield, anayōnayama one another, nōpalakaṣayatāma not able to see

Then with both Rama and Ravana speedily releasing (hail of) arrows on one another, the battlefield was darkened by arrows, and they were not able to see each other.
tataḥkarōdhasamāviṣaṭōrāmōdaśarathātamajaḥ .

uvācarāvaṇaṅvīraḥparahasayaparuṣaṅvacaḥ ।।6.105.10।।


tataḥ then, daśarathātamajaḥ Dasharatha's son, vīraḥ heroic, rāmaḥ Rama, karōdhasamāviṣaṭaḥ overcome by anger, parahasaya laughing, rāvaṇama at Ravana, paruṣama harsh, vacaḥ words, uvāca spoke

Then Rama, the heroic son of Dasharatha, overcome by anger, laughing at Ravana, spoke these words.
mamabhārayājanasathānādajañānādarākaṣasādhama .

hṛtātēvivaśāyasamātatasamātatavaṅnāsivīrayavāna ।।6.105.11।।


rākaṣasādhama lowly Rakshasa, vivaśā helpless, mamabhārayā my wife, yasamāta therefore, ajañānāta ignorantly, tē you, hṛtā abducted, tasamāta therefore, tavama you, vīrayavana valiant, nāsi not

"Lowly Rakshasa! My wife was abducted by you ignorantly when she was helpless. Therefore, you are not valiant."
mayāvirahitāṅdīnāṅvaratamānāṅmahāvanē .

vaidēhīṅparasabhaṅhṛtavāśūrō.hamitimanayasē ।।6.105.12।।

satarīṣuśūravināthāsuparadārābhimaraśaka .

kṛtavākāpuruṣaṅkaramaśūrō.hamitimanayasē ।।6.105.13।।


vināthāsu timid fellow, satarīṣu women, śūra hero, paradārābhimaraśaka laying hands on other woman, kāpuruṣama such men, karama action, kṛtavā having done, ahama I, śūraḥhero, iti thus, manayasē thinking

"Timid fellow! You having laid hands on another woman think you are a hero? You, who have done such an action, think that you are a hero?"
bhinanamarayādaniralajaja cāritarēṣavanavasathita .

darapānamṛtayumupādāyaśūrō.hamitimanayasē ।।6.105.14।।


bhinanamarayāda transgressed morality, niralajaja shameless, cāritarē traditional practice, anavasathita dissolute, darapāta pride, mṛtayuma death, upādāya seeking, ahama I, śūraḥ heroic, iti thus, manayasē think

"O shameless one! You have transgressed morality and traditional practice. You are dissolute and by your pride seeking death. You think that you are a hero!"
śūrēṇadhanadabharātarābalaiḥsamuditēna ca .

śalāghanīyaṅmahatakaramayaśasayaṅ ca kṛtaṅtavayā ।।6.105.15।।


śūrēṇa hero, dhanadabharātarā brother of Kubera, balaiḥ rich in might, samuditēna ca and risen up, tavayā by you, śalāghanīyama laudable, yaśasayaṅ ca attained fame, mahata great, karama action, kṛtama performed

"By laudable great action performed by you (of abducting Sita and your penance) you have attained fame. You are a heroic brother of Kubera, rich in might."
utasēkānābhipananasayagarahitasayāhitasaya ca .

karamaṇaḥparāpanuhīdānāṅtasayādayasumahataphalama ।।6.105.16।।


utasēkēna out of pride, abhipananasaya overpowered, garahitasaya vanity, ahitasaya ca hurtful, tasayakaramaṇaḥ your action, sumahata great, phalama result, adaya today, idānīma this way, parāpanuhi attained

"You will attain the great result of your hurtful action, overpowered by pride and vanity today."
śūrō.hamiticātamānamavagacachasiduramatē .

naivalajajāsatitēsītāṅcauravadavṛpakaraṣataḥ ।।6.105.17।।


duramatē evil minded, ātamānama yourself, ahama I, śūraḥhero, iti thus, avagacachasi praise, cauravata like a thief, sītāma Sita, vayapakaraṣataḥ abducting, tē to you, lajajā shame, naivaasati not stand

"O Evil minded fellow! You boast yourself as a hero, while you abducted Sita like a thief. Shame did not stand in your way."
yadimatasananidhausītādharaṣitāsayātatavayābalāta .

bharātaraṅtukharaṅpaśayēsatadāmatasāyakairahataḥ ।।6.105.18।।


sītā Sita, tavayā by you, matasananidhau my presence, balāta forcibly, dharaṣitā taken, sayādayadi been seen, tadā then, matasāyakaiḥ by my arrows, hataḥ killed, bharātarama brother, kharama Khara, paśayēḥ seen

"If Sita had been seen by me forcibly taken by you in my presence, then you would have been killed by my arrows and seen your brother Khara."
diṣaṭayāsimamaduṣaṭātamaśacakaṣuraviṣayamāgataḥ .

adayatavāṅsāyakaisatīkaṣaṇairanayāmiyamasādanama ।।6.105.19।।


duṣaṭātamana selfish, diṣaṭayā seen now, mama by me, cakaṣuraviṣayama in my sight, āgataḥasi have come now, adaya today, tavāma you, tīkaṣaṇaiḥ sharp, sāyakaiḥ by arrows, yamasādanama abode of Yama, nayāmi reach

"O selfish Ravana! Today you have come in my sight by good fortune. I shall send you to the abode of Yama with my arrows."
adayatēmacacharaiśacinanaṅśirōjavalitakuṇaḍalama .

karavayādāvayapakaraṣanatuvikīraṇaṅraṇapāṅsuṣu ।।6.105.20।।


adaya now, macacharaiḥ by my shafts, chinanama severed, raṇapāṅsuṣu in the battlefield, vikīraṇama covered with dust, javalitakuṇaḍalama shining earrings, tēśiraḥ your head, karanayādāḥ carnivorous animals, vayapakaraṣanatu be dragged

"Now, let your head severed by my shafts lying in dust in the battlefield with the shining earrings be dragged by the carnivorous animals."
nipatayōrasigṛdharāsatēkaṣitaukaṣipatasayarāvaṇa .

pibanaturudhiraṅtaraṣādabāṇaśalayānatarōtathitama ।।6.105.21।।


rāvaṇa Ravana, kaṣitau caused to destroy, kaṣipatasaya scattered, tē your, urasi chest, nipataya fallen, gṛdharāḥ vultures, bāṇaśalayānatarōtathitama by the piercing of the heads of my arrows, rudhirama blood, pibanatu drink

"Ravana! After your body is caused to destroy and scattered on the ground, let the vultures drink the blood oozing from your chest pierced by the heads of my arrows."
adayamadabāṇabhinanasayagatāsōḥpatitasayatē .

karaṣanatavanatarāṇipatagāgarutamanataivōragāna ।।6.105.22।।


adaya now, madabāṇabhinanasaya by my arrows splitting, gatāsōḥ ceased of life, patitasaya fallen, tē your, anatarāṇi intestines, patagāḥ birds, garutamanataḥ eagles, uragāniva like snakes, karaṣanatu dragging

"Let the birds tear your intestines as eagles would tear off snakes, now when your body is split and fallen, split by my arrows and ceased of life."
itayēvaṅ sa vadanavīrōrāmaśaśatarunibarahaṇaḥ .

rākaṣasēnadaraṅsamīpasathaṅśaravaraṣairavākirata ।।6.105.23।।

babhūvadaviguṇaṅvīrayaṅbalaṅharaṣaśacasaṅyugē .

rāmasayāsatarabalaṅcaivaśatarōranidhanakāṅakaṣiṇaḥ ।।6.105.24।।

bhūyaēvāradayadarāmōrāvaṇaṅrākaṣasānatakṛta ।।6.105.26।।

nāsayaparatayakarōvadīrayaṅvikalabēnānatarātamanā ।।6.105.28।।

Being confused mentally, Ravana did not start his arrows, nor stretch his bow, nor was able to use missiles and was not able to oppose Rama's valour.
kaṣipatāḥśacāśuśarāsatēnaśasatarāṇivividhāni ca .

maraṇārathāyavaratanatēmṛtayukālō.bhayavaratata ।।6.105.29।।
