[Sage Agastya arrives and advises Rama to chant 'Aditya Hrdaya' verses in praise of Sun god for success.]

tatōyudadhapariśarānataṅsamarēcinatayāsathitama .

rāvaṇaṅcāgaratōdṛṣaṭavāyudadhāyasamupasathitama ।।6.107.1।।

daivataiśacasamāgamayadaraṣaṭumabhayāgatōraṇama .

upāgamayābaravīdarāmamagasatayōbhagavāna ṛṣiḥ ।।6.107.2।।


tataḥ then, daivataiḥ Devatas, samāgamaya collected together, raṇama war, daraṣaṭuma seeing, abhayāgataḥ came, bhagavāna god, agasatayaṛṣiḥ Agastya Risi, yudadhapariśarānatama duly prepared, yudadhāya for war, samupasathitama come and stood, rāvaṇama Ravana, agarataḥ before, dṛṣaṭavā seeing, samarē in war, cinatayā thinking, sathitama stood, rāmama Rama, upagamaya had come, abaravīta spoke as follows

Then seeing Sri Rama standing and thinking of the war, duly prepared, Rishi Agastya came with Devatas to witness the war with Ravana and spoke as follows.
rāma rāma mahābāhō śṛṇuguhayaṅsanātanama .

yēnasaravānarīsavatasasamarēvijayiṣayasē ।।6.107.3।।


mahābāhō mighty armed, rāmarāma Rama Rama, sanātanama eternal, guhayama secret, śṛṇu hear, vatasa dear, yēna because, samarē in war, saravāna all, arīna enemies, vijayiṣayasē which will enable you to win

"O mighty armed Sri Rama! Dear, hear this eternal secret (mantra) which will enable you to win all the enemies in war."
āditayahṛdayaṅpuṇayaṅsaravaśataruvināśanama .

jayāvahaṅjapēnanitayamakaṣayayaṅparamaṅśivama ।।6.107.4।।

saravamaṅagalamaṅagalayaṅsaravapāpaparaṇāśanama .

cinatāśōkaparaśamanamāyuravaradhanamutatamama ।।6.107.5।।


puṇayama sacred, saravaśataruvināśanama which can destroy all enemies, jayāvahama bring victory, akaṣayayama eternal, paramaṅśivama very auspicious, saravamaṅagalamaṅagalayama supremely blessed for all and prolongs life, saravapāpaparaṇāśanamaroot out sins, cinatāśōkaparaśamanama remove anxiety, utatamama excellent, āyuravarathanama prolongs life, āditayahṛdayama Aditya Hridayam, nitayama always, japēta bring victory

"Rama! Listen to this sacred mantra, 'Aditya Hridayam' which can bring victory, which is eternal, very auspicious, and supremely blessed and prolongs life of all by means of which you will destroy all enemies, root out sins, remove anxiety and always bring victory.
rasamīmanataṅsamudayanataṅdēvāsuranamasakṛtama .

pūjayasavavivasatavanataṅbhāsakaraṅbhuvanēśavarama ।।6.107.6।।


rasamīmanatama crowned with rays, samudayanatama rising up at the horizon, dēvāsuranamasakṛtaya greeted by gods and demons, vivasavanatama bring light, bhāsakarama sun god, bhuvanēśavarama embodiment of all gods, pūjayasavaworship

"You worship the Sun God, crowned with rays rising up at the horizon, greeted by all gods and demons, who brings light to all and who is the embodiment of all gods."
saravadēvātamakōhayēṣatējasavīrasamībhāvanaḥ .

ēṣadēvāsuragaṇānalōkānapātigabhasatibhiḥ ।।6.107.7।।


ēṣaḥ he is, saravadēvātamakaḥ self in all, tējasavī glorious, rasamībhāvanaḥ by his rays, ēṣaḥ he in that way, gabhasatibhiḥ ray of light, dēvāsuragaṇāna for gods and suras, lōkāna for the world, pāti Lord

"He is the self in all, glorious, he sustains by his rays of light, the gods, suras and the whole world. He is the Lord of all.
ēṣabarahamā ca viṣaṇuśacaśivaḥsakanadhaḥparajāpatiḥ .

mahēnadarōdhanadaḥkālōyamaḥsōmōhayapāṅpatiḥ ।।6.107.8।।


ēṣaḥ in the same way, barahamā ca Brahma, the creator, viṣaṇuśaca Vishnu also, śivaḥ Siva also, sakanadhaḥ Skanda, parajāpatiḥ Prajapati, mahēnadara Mahendra, dhanadaḥ Kubera, kālaḥ Time spirit, yamaḥ Yama, sōmaḥ Soma, apāṅpatiḥ Varuna

"In the same way, he is the body of Brahma the creator, he is Vishnu also, Shiva also, S Kanda, Prajapati, Mahendra, Kubera, time spirit, Yama, Soma, and Varuna also.
pitarōvasavasasādhayāaśavinaumarutōmanuḥ .

vāyuravahaniḥparajāḥparāṇaṛtukaratāparabhākaraḥ ।।6.107.9।।


pitaraḥ manes, vasavaḥ Vasava, sādhayāḥ Sadhyas, aśavinau Aswinis, marutaḥ Marutha, manuḥ Manu, vāyuḥ Wind god, vahaniḥ god of fire, parajāḥ for beings, parāṇaḥ life, ṛtukaratā god of seasons, parabhākaraḥ Sun god

"He is the god of manes, Vasava, Sadhayas, Aswins, Marutha, Manu, wind god, fire god, life of all beings and god of all seasons.
āditayaḥsavitāsūrayaḥkhagaḥpūṣāgabhasatimāna .

suvaraṇasadṛśōbhānurahiraṇayarētādivākaraḥ ।।6.107.10।।


āditayaḥ Aditya, savitā Savitha, sūrayaḥ Sun, khagaḥ sky, pūṣā sustainer, gabhasatimāna rays of light, suvaraṇasadṛśaḥ of golden effulgence, bhānuḥ Bhanu, hiraṇayarētāḥ shining with golden rays, divākaraḥ Sun god

"You are the son of Aditi, the sun-god, creator Savitha, the courser in the heavens, the sustainer, the possessor of golden rays, Bhanu, shining with golden rays, the Sun god.
haridaśavasasahasarāracisasapatasapatiramarīcimāna .

timirōnamathanaśaśamabhusatavaṣaṭāmārataṇaḍakō.ṅśumāna ।।6.107.11।।


haridaśavaḥ possessor of green horses, sahasarāraciḥ of thousand rays, sapatasapatiḥ having horse Sapta, marīcimāna destroyer of darkness, timirōnamathanaḥ mitigator of the suffering of devotees, śamabhu: giver of happiness, tavaṣaṭā destroyer of all names and forms, mārataṇaḍakaḥ the infuser of life in the cosmic egg, aṅśumāna all pervading

"You are the possessor of seven green horses, having a thousand rays, having horse Sapta, destroyer of darkness, mitigator of the suffering of all devotees, giver of happiness, destroyer of all names and forms, the infuser of life in the cosmic egg and having the all-pervading rays.
hiraṇayagarabhaśaśiśirasatapanōbhāsakarōraviḥ .

aganigarabhō.ditēḥputaraḥśaṅaghaśaśiśiranāśanaḥ ।।6.107.12।।


hiraṇayagarabhaḥ having golden cosmic egg in the womb, śiśiraḥ cool, tapanaḥ purifier, bhāsakaraḥ ruler of all, raviḥ bringer of day, aganigarabhaḥ Bears dissolution in the womb, aditēḥ son of Aditi, putaraḥ son, śaṅakhaḥ bliss personified, śiśiranāśanaḥ destroyer of cold

"You have the golden cosmic egg in the womb, you are cool, you are the purifier, the ruler of all, bringer of day, who Bears the fire of dissolution in the womb. You are the son of Aditi, blissful personified and destroyer of cold.
vayōmanāthasatamōbhēdīṛgayajusasāmapāragaḥ .

ghanavṛṣaṭirapāṅmitarōvinadhayavīthīpalavaṅagamaḥ ।।6.107.13।।


vayōmanāthaḥ Lord of the sky,, tamōbhēdī dispeller of darkness, ṛgayajusāmapāragaḥ the master of the three Vedas, Rig, Yajur and Sama vedas, ghanavṛṣaṭiḥ sender of rain, apāma of water, mitaraḥ friend, vinadhayavīthīpalavaṅagamaḥ courser of the path of Vindhya swiftly

"You are the Lord of the sky, dispeller of darkness, the master of the three Vedas-Rig, Yajur and Sama, the sender of rain, the friend of water and the courser of the path of Vindhya swiftly.
ātapīmaṇaḍalēmṛtayuḥpiṅagalasasaravatāpanaḥ .

kaviraviśavōmahātējārakatasasaravabhavōdabhava: ।।6.107.14।।


ātapī possessor of heat, maṇaḍalē circle of rays, mṛtayuḥ killer of all enemies, piṅagalaḥ tawny, saravatāpanaḥ destroyer of all, kaviḥ creator, viśavaḥ omniscient, mahātējāḥ resplendant, rakataḥ lover of all devotees, saravabhavōdabhavaḥ source of all evolutes

"You are the possessor of heat, adorned with a circle of rays. You are killer of all enemies, tawny destroyer of all, omniscient, lover of all devotees and source of all evolutes.
nakaṣataragarahatārāṇāmadhipōviśavabhāvanaḥ .

tējasāmapitējasavīdavādaśātamananamō.satutē ।।6.107.15।।


nakaṣataragarahatārāṇāma stars, planets, viśavabhāvanaḥ creator of all, tējasāmapi resplendent, tējasavī among the splendid, davādaśātamana of twelve faces, tē you, namaḥ hail, asatu to you

"You are the Lord of all stars and planets. You are the creator of all, resplendent among the splendid, the twelve faces of twelve months. Hail to you.
namaḥpūravāyagirayēpaśacimāyādarayēnamaḥ .

jayōtiragaṇānāṅpatayēdinādhipatayēnamaḥ ।।6.107.16।।


pūravāyagirayē on the east mountain, namaḥ hail to you, paśacimāyaadarayē setting in the west, namaḥ hail to you, dinādhipatayēḥ Lord of luminaries, namaḥ hail to you

"Hail to you, rising on the east mountain, setting in the west. Hail to the Lord of all luminaries.
jayāyajayabhadarāyaharayaśavāyanamōnamaḥ .

namōnamasasahasarāṅśōāditayāyanamōnamaḥ ।।6.107.17।।


jayāya giver of victory, jayabhadarāya joy born of victory, harayaśavāya god having green horses, namaḥnamaḥ hail to you hail to you, āditayāya Aditya, namaḥnamaḥ namaskar, namaskar

"Namaskar, Namaskar to the giver of victory, joy born of victory, god having green horses. Hail to you Aditya.
namaugarāyavīrāyasāraṅagāyanamōnamaḥ .

namaḥpadamaparabōdhāyamāratāṇaḍāyanamō.satutē ।।6.107.18।।


ugarāya of terrible form, vīrāya valiant, namaḥ hail to you, sāraṅagāya denoted by syllable AUM, namaḥnamaḥ namaskar namaskar, padamaparabōdhāya awakener of lotus, namaḥ namaskar, māratāṇaḍāya the fierce one, tē to you, namaḥ namaskar, asatu be

"Hail to you of terrible form, of valiant one, denoted by the syllable 'AUM'. Namaskar to the awakener of lotuses. Namaskar to the fierce one.
barahamēśānācayutēśāyasūrayāyāditayavaracasē .

bhāsavatēsaravabhakaṣāyaraudarāyavapuṣēnamaḥ ।।6.107.19।।


barahamēśānācayutēśāya the ruler of Brahma, Siva and Vishnu, sūrayāya Sun god, āditayavaracasē the spiritual light in dwelling, bhāsavatē in solar orbit, saravabhakaṣāya consumer of all, raudarāyavapuṣē appearing in the form of Rudra, namaḥ namaskar

"Namskar to you, the ruler of Brahma, Siva and Vishnu, to you the Sun god, the spiritual dwelling light in solar orbit, the consumer of all appearing in the form of Rudra.
tamōghanāyahimaghanāyaśatarughanāyāmitātamanē .

kṛtaghanaghanāyadēvāyajayōtiṣāṅpatayēnamaḥ ।।6.107.20।।


tamōghanāya dispeller of darkness, himaghanāya dispeller of cold, śatarughanāya dispeller of enemies, amitātamanē whose extent is immeasurable, kṛtaghanaghanāya destroyer of the ungrateful, dēvāya god, jayōtiṣāma ruler of lights, patayē Lord of all, namaḥ namaskar

"You are the dispeller of darkness, dispeller of cold, dispeller of enemies, your extent is immeasurable. You are the destroyer of the ungrateful, the ruler of lights, the Lord of all and namaskar to you.
tapatacāmīkarābhāyaharayēviśamakaramaṇē .

namasatamōbhinighanāyarucayēlōkasākaṣiṇē।।1.107.21।।


tapatacāmīkarābhāya possessing lustre of pure gold, harayē dispeller of ignorance,, viśavakaramaṇa architect of the universe, tamōbhinighanāya splendor incarnate in the form of fire in all, rucayē splendor, lōkasākaṣiṇē witnessor of all actions in the world, namaḥ namaskar

"Namaskar to one possessing the lustre of pure gold, dispeller of darkness, architect of the universe, splendor incarnate in the form of fire in all, witnessor of all actions in the world.
nāśayatayēṣavaibhūtaṅtadēvasṛjatiparabhuḥ .

pāyatayēṣatapatayēṣavaraṣatayēṣa gabhasatibhiḥ .1.107.22।।


parabhuḥ Lord, ēṣaḥcai being so, bhūtama beings, nāśayati destroys, tadēva this god, sṛjati creates, ēṣaḥ he alone, gabhasatibhiḥ radiates, pāyati thirst, ēṣaḥ he alone, tapati heats, ēṣaḥ he alone, varaṣati rains

"Being a creator and destroyer of the world, this Sun god alone radiates, creates thirst by heat and rains to relieve.
ēṣasupatēṣujāgaratibhūtēṣupariniṣaṭhitaḥ .

ēṣacaivāganihōtaraṅ ca phalaṅcaivāganihōtariṇāma ।।6.107.23।।


ēṣaḥ he alone, bhūtēṣu among beings, supatēṣu in sleep, pariniṣaṭhitaḥ pervades, jāgarati awake, ēṣaḥcaiva he alone, aganihōtaraṅ ca is fire sacrifice, aganihōtariṇāma of fire sacrifice, phalaṅ ca fruits

"He alone pervades the created beings and remains awake in sleep. He alone is the fire sacrifice as well as the fruits obtained from fire sacrifice.
vēdaśacakaratavaśacaivakaratūnāṅphalamēva ca .

yānikṛtayānilōkēṣusaravēṣuparamaparabhuḥ ।।6.107.24।।


vēdaśaca vedas, karatavaśacaiva sacrifices, karatūnāma of the sacrifices, phalamēva ca results, saravēṣu all, lōkēṣu in the worlds, yāni he alone, kṛtayāni of all actions, paramaparabhuḥ supreme controller

"He is all vedas, as well as all the sacrifices as also the fruits of all sacrifices. He is the supreme controller of all actions in all worlds.
ēnamāpatasukṛcacharēṣukānatārēṣubhayēṣu ca .

kīratayanapuruṣaḥkaśacināvasīdatirāghava ।।6.107.25।।


rāghava Raghava, ēnama any one, āpatasu in straits, kṛcacharēṣu in difficulties, kānatārēṣu in the woods, bhayēṣu in times of fear, kīratayana praise, puruṣaḥ men, kaśacita surely, nāvasīdati will experience grief

"O Raghava! Anyone praying to him will surely not experience grief in straits, in difficulties, in the woods and in times of fear.
pūjayasavainamēkāgarōdēvadēvaṅjagatapatima .

ētatatariguṇitaṅjapatavāyudadhēṣuvijayiṣayasi ।।6.107.26।।


jagatapatima Lord of the universe, dēvadēvama Lord of Lords, ēnama him alone, ēkāgaraḥ with concentration, pūjayasava if you offer prayers, ētata by that, tariguṇitama three times of the day, japatavā chant, yudadhēṣu in war, vijayiṣayasi will attain victory

"Worship the Lord of the universe, the Lord of Lords. Worship him alone with concentration of mind, three times of the day by chanting his name. You will attain victory in war."
asamina kaṣaṇēmahābāhōrāvaṇaṅtavaṅvadhiṣayasi .

ēvamukatavātatō.gasatayōjagāma sa yathāgatama ।।6.107.27।।


mahābāhō mighty armed, asamina your, kaṣaṇē this very moment, thavama you, rāvaṇama Ravana, vadhiṣayasi will kill, agasatayaḥ Agastya, ēvama in that way, ukatavā having spoken, tataḥ then, yathāgatama left in the same way jagāma went

Agastya having spoken in that way to the mighty armed Rama to worship the Sun God and assuring him that the very moment he will be able to kill Ravana, left in the same way.
ētacacharutavāmahātējānaṣaṭaśōkō.bhavatatadā .

dhārayāmāsasuparītōrāghavaḥparayatātamavāna ।।6.107.28।।


tadā then, mahātējaḥ extraordinary energy, ētata being, śarutavā having heard, naṣaṭaśōkaḥ stopped worry, abhavata became, rāghavaḥ Raghava, suparītaḥ very affectionately, parayatātamavāna greatly delighted, dhārayamāsa remembered and chanted Aditya in his mind

Then Rama endowed with extra ordinary energy having heard Agastya, was very delighted and stopped worry. He remembered Aditya and chanted in his mind.
āditayaṅparēkaṣayajapatavātuparaṅharaṣamavāpatavāna .

tarirācamayaśucirabhūtavādhanurādāyavīrayavāna ।।6.107.29।।

rāvaṇaṅparēkaṣayahṛṣaṭātamāyudadhārathaṅsamupāgamata .

saravayatanēnamahatāvadhētasayadhṛtō.bhavata ।।6.107.30।।


vīrayavāna valiant, āditayama Aditya, parēkaṣaya looking, tariḥ three times, ācamaya sipping water, śuciḥ clean, bhūtavā with devotion, japatavā chanted, parama supreme, haraṣama delight, avāpatavāna getting purified, dhanuḥ bow, ādāya took up, rāvaṇama Ravana, parēkaṣaya fixing his eyes, hṛṣaṭātamā delighted, yudadhārathama for the war, samupāgamata advanced, mahatā great, saravayatanēna with all-out effort, tasaya his, vadhē destruction, dhṛtaḥ determined, bhavata became

Sipping water three times and looking at Aditya, the valiant Rama getting purified, with devotion chanted the supreme with delight. Then he took up his bow, fixing his eyes at Ravana, and advanced for war with an all-out effort determined to destroy Ravana.
atharaviravadananirīkaṣayarāmaṅmuditamanāḥparamaṅparahṛṣayamāṇaḥ .

niśicarapatisaṅakaṣayaṅviditavāsuragaṇamadhayagatōvacasatavarēti ।।6.107.31।।


atha and then, muditamanāḥ delighted at heart, raviḥ sun, parama supreme, parahṛṣayamāṇaḥ overwhelmed with joy, rāmama to Rama, nirīkaṣaya to look at, niśicarapatisaṅakaṣayama destruction of the king of Rakshasa, viditavā knowing, suragaṇamadhayagataḥ all gods came, tavara quickly, iti this, vacaḥ words, avadata uttered 'hurry up '

And thereafter, the Sun god delighted at heart, overwhelmed with joy surrounded by gods looking at Rama knowing that the Rakshasa king will be destroyed, came quickly to Rama and uttered 'hurry up'.
।। itayāraṣēvālamīkīyēśarīmadarāmāyaṇēādikāvayēyudadhakāṇaḍēsapatōtataraśatatamasasaragaḥ ।।
This is the end of the one hundred and seventh sarga of Yuddha Kanda of the first epic the holy Ramayana composed by Sage Valmiki.
