[Tumultuous war takes place between Rama and Ravana for seven days and nights both using powerful arrows, maces, and mallets.]

tautathāyudhayamānautusamarērāmarāvaṇau .

dadṛśusasaravabhūtānivisamitēnānatarātamanā ।।6.110.1।।


samarē in war, tathā thus, yudhayamanau fighting, rāmarāvaṇau Rama and Ravana, saravabhūtāni all beings, visamitēna with astonishment, anatarātamanā in mind, dadṛśuḥ observed

As Rama and Ravana were thus fighting in war, all beings watched with astonishment in mind.
aradhayanatautusamarētayōsatausayanadanōtatamau .

parasaparamabhikarudadhauparasaparamabhidarutau ।।6.110.2।।


tayōḥ both, sayanadanōtatamau both moving quickly, parasaparama one another, aradhayanatau seeking to gain, abhikarudadhau very furious, parasaparama one another, abhidarutau persevering

Both striking one another diligently, going in circles moving forward and backward displaying feats, went on.
aradhayanarāvaṇaṅrāmōrāghavaṅcāpirāvaṇaḥ ।।6.110.4।।

cēratusasamayugamahīṅ sāsārau jaladāviva .

parasaparasayābhimukhaupunarēva ca tasathatuḥ .

caturabhiśacaturōdīpatānahayānaparatayapasarapayata .

sārathiṅvajarahasatasayasamudadiśayadaśānanaḥ .

mātalēsatumahāvēgāśaśarīrēpatitāśaśarāḥ ।।6.110.12।।

na sūkaṣamamapisamamōhaṅvayathāṅvāparadadurayudhi .

tata then, paravṛtaṅ ensued, punaḥ again, yudadhama war, tumulama tumultuous, rōmaharaṣaṇama caused hair to stand, gadānāma with maces, musalānāṅ ca and mallets, parighāṇāṅ ca iron bars, niḥsavanaiḥ by the resound of speed, sapatasāgarāḥ the seven seas, kaṣubhitāḥ agitated

Once again ensued a tumultuous war fought with maces, mallets, and iron bars, caused hair to stand and the resound of the speed of weapons caused agitation in the seven seas.
kaṣubadānāṅsāgarāṇāṅ ca pātālatalavāsinaḥ .

vayathitādānavāḥsaravēpananagāśacasahasaraśaḥ ।।6.110.18।।


kaṣubadānāma sounds, sāgarāṇāma in the seas, pātālatalavāsinaḥ inhabiting the subterranean region, saravē all, dānavāḥDanavas, sahasaraśaḥthousands, pananagāśaca snakes, vayathitāḥ distressed

bhāsakarōniṣaparabhaśacāsīnanavanaucāpimārutaḥ ।।6.110.19।।


saśailavanakānanā with mountains, gardens, forests, kṛtasanā dark, mēdinī earth, cakamapē shook, bhāsakaraśaca even the sun, niṣaparabhaḥ lost radiance, āsīta not move, mārutaśacāpi even the wind, na vavau not blow

The entire globe with its mountains, gardens and forests shook, the Sun lost his radiance, even the wind did not blow.
tatōdēvāsasaganadharavāsasidadhāśacaparamaraṣayaḥ .

rāmarāvaṇayōrayudadhaṅsughōraṅrōmaharaṣaṇama ।।6.110.22।।


tadā then, saraṣigaṇāḥ hosts of sages, tē the, dēvāḥ Devas, gōbarāhamaṇēbhayaḥ cows, brahmanas, savasati be auspicious, asatu be, lōkāḥ worlds, śāśavatāḥ ever, tiṣaṭhanatu endure, rāghavaḥ Raghava, saṅkhayē large numbers, rākaṣasēśavarama Rakshasa king, rāvaṇama Ravana, jayatāma conquer, ēvama in that way, japanataḥ chanted, ghōrama terrific, rōmaharaṣaṇama caused hair to stand, rāmarāvaṇayōḥ both Rama and Ravana, yudadhama war, apaśayana witnessed

rāmarāvaṇayōrayudadhaṅrāmarāvaṇayōriva .

ēvaṅbaruvanatōdadṛśusatadayudadhaṅrāmarāvaṇama ।।6.110.24।।

Then the mighty armed Raghava, enhancer of glory, in wrath like a venomous snake, fitting the bow with arrows cut off the head of Ravana graced with shining earrings. Then the three worlds witnessed the head cut off and fallen on the earth surface.
tasayaivasadṛśaṅcānayadarāvaṇasayōtathitaṅśiraḥ .

tatakaṣipataṅkaṣiparahasatēnarāmēṇakaṣiparakāriṇā ।।6.110.27।।


tasayaiva similar, sadṛśama looking similar, anayata another, rāvaṇasaya Ravana's, śiraḥ head, utathitama arose, tata that, kaṣiparahasatēna cut off by hand, kaṣiparakāriṇā quick with hand, rāmēṇa by Rama, kaṣipatama cut off

A similar looking head arose on Ravana's head. Rama, endowed with a quick hand, cut off by his hand the other head.
davitīyaṅrāvaṇaśiraśachinanaṅsamayatisāyakaiḥ .

chinanamātaraṅ ca tacacīraṣaṅpunarēvaparadṛśayatē ।।6.110.28।।

Rama cut off the afore said head with Indra's thunderbolt like arrows. In that way equally charming a hundred heads were struck off.
na caivarāvaṇasayānatōdṛśayatējīvitakaṣayē .

tatasasaravāsataravidavīraḥkausalayānanadavaradhanaḥ ।।6.110.30।।

māragaṇairabahubhirayukataśacinatayāmāsarāghavaḥ .

anatarikaṣē ca bhūmau ca punaśacagirimūradhani ।।6.110.36।।
