[ All gods witness Sita entering fire and seek the presence of Rama. Creator Brahma praises Rama as the glorious Narayana.]

tatōhiduramanārāmaśarutavaivaṅvadatāṅgiraḥ .

dadhayaumuhūrataṅdharamātamābāṣapavayākulalōcanaḥ ।।6.120.1।।


tataḥ there upon, dharamātamā righteous, rāmaḥ Rama, ēvama in that way, vadatāma spoken, giraḥ people, śarutavā hearing, duramanāḥ wailing, bāṣapapūritalōcanaḥ eyes dimmed with tears, muhūratama a moment, dadhayau remained

Then righteous Rama, hearing the wailing of the people, whose eyes were dimmed with tears, remained for a moment.
tatōvaiśaravaṇōrājāyamaśacapitṛbhiḥsaha .

sahasarākaṣaśacadēvēśōvaruṇaśacajalēśavaraḥ ।।6.120.2।।

ṣaḍaradhanayanaśarīmānamahādēvōvṛṣadhavajaḥ .

karatāsaravasayalōkasayabarahamābarahamavidāṅvaraḥ ।।6.120.3।।

ētēsaravēsamāgamayavimānaisasūrayasananibhaiḥ .

āgamayanagarīṅlaṅakāmabhijagamuśacarāghavama ।।6.120.4।।


tataḥ then, rājā king, vaiśaravaṇaḥ Vysravana, pitṛbhiḥsaha with father, yamaśaca Yama, dēvēśaḥ Devas, sahasarākaṣaśaca Indra of thousand eyes, jalēśavaraḥ god of waters, varuṇaśaca Varuna, ṣaḍaradhanayanaḥsix eyed, śarīmāna glorious, vṛṣadhavajaḥVrshadwaja, mahādēvaḥ MahaDeva, saravasaya all, lōkasaya worlds, karatā creator, barahamavidāma creators, varaḥforemost, barahamā Brahma, ētē all those, saravē all, samāgamaya reached, sūrayasananibhaiḥ closely resembling the sun in radiance, vimānaiḥ aerial car, laṅakāṅnagarīma to Lanka city, āgamaya having reached, rāghavama Raghava, abhijagamuḥ went towards

Then king Kubera, son of Vysravana, Yama, with Devas, Indra of thousand eyes, Varuna, the god of waters, glorious six eyed MahaDeva, who has bull on his banner, the creator of all the worlds, foremost of creators, Brahma, all of them reached Lanka city and went towards Raghava.
tataḥsahasatābharaṇānaparagṛhayavipulānabhujāna .

abaruvaṅsataridaśaśarēṣaṭhārāghavaṅparāñajaliṅsathitama ।।6.120.5।।


tataḥ then, taridaśaśarēṣaṭhāḥ foremost of gods, sahasatābharaṇāna adorned with ornaments in hands, vipulāna long, bhujāna shoulders, paragṛhaya taking up, parāñajalima greeted with both palms, sathitama stood, rāghavama Raghava, abaruvana spoke as follows

Then foremost of gods adorned with ornaments in hands lifted up their long shoulders and greeted Raghava with joined palms and spoke as follows.
karatāsaravasayalōkasayaśarēṣaṭhōjañānavatāṅparabhuḥ .

upēkaṣasēkathaṅsītāṅpatanatīṅhavayavāhanē ।।6.120.6।।

kathaṅdēvagaṇaśarēṣaṭhamātamānaṅnāvabudadhayasē .


saravasaya all sides, lōkasaya in the world, karatā creator, jañānavatāma knowledgeable, śarēṣaṭhaḥ foremost, parabhuḥ Lord, havayavāhanē fire, patanatīma falling, sītāma Sita, kathama how, upēkaṣasē looking, dēvagaṇaśarēṣaṭhama foremost of the hosts of Devas, ātamānama himself, kathama how, nāvabudadhayasē not know?

"You are the creator of the entire world, knowledgeable and the foremost Lord of the host of gods. How did you keep watching Sita falling into fire'?
ṛtadhāmāvasuḥpūravaṅvasūnāṅ ca parajāpatiḥ ।।6.120.7।।

tarayāṇāmapilōkānāmādikaratāsavayaṅparabhuḥ .


pūravama in the past, vasūnāma Vasus, ṛtadhāmā Rtadhama, vasuḥ Vasu, tarayāṇāmapi creator of the three worlds, lōkānāma in the world, ādikaratā first creator, savayaṅparabhuḥ Lord himself, parajāpatiḥ self-constituted ruler

" Among the Vasus, you are the Rtadhama and the creator of the three worlds and the first creator and self-constituted ruler."
rudarāṇāmaṣaṭamōrudarasasādhayānāmapipañacamaḥ ।।6.120.8।।

aśavinaucāpikaraṇautēsūrayacanadarāmasaudṛśau .


rudarāṇāma Rudra, aṣaṭama: eighth, rudaraḥ Rudra, sādhayānāma api among Sadhayas, pañacamaḥ fifth, aśavinau twin Aswins, tē you, karaṇau ears, sūrayācanadaramasau sun and moon are, dṛśau your eyes

"You are the eighth among the Rudras, fifth among the Sadhyas, two Aswins are your ears, and the sun and moon are your eyes."
anatēcādau ca lōkānāṅdṛśayasē ca paranatapa ।।6.120.9।।

upēkaṣasē ca vaidēhīṅmānuṣaḥparākṛtōyathā .


paranatapa tormentor of enemies, lōkānāma in the world, ādau at the beginning, anatē ca and at the end, dṛśayasē seen, parākṛtaḥ common, mānuṣōyathā like the man, vaidēhīma Vaidehi, upēkaṣasē ca looking as if you are ignorant

"O Tormentor of enemies! You are at the beginning and at the end of the world. You are looking like a common man would look at Sita, when she was falling into pyre."
itayukatōlōkapālaisataisasavāmīlōkasayarāghavaḥ ।।6.120.10।।

abaravītataridaśaśarēṣaṭhānarāmadharamabhṛtāṅvaraḥ .


lōkapālaiḥ ruler of the world, iti this, ukataḥ having said, lōkasaya world, savāmī Lord, rāghavaḥ Raghava, dharamabhṛtāma upholder of Dharma, varaḥ foremost, rāmaḥ Rama, taridaśaśarēṣaṭhāna supreme god, abaravīta spoke

Rama the upholder of dharma and foremost and supreme god spoke after the ruler of the world had spoken to him.
ātamānaṅmānuṣaṅmanayērāmaṅdaśarathātamajama ।।6.120.11।।

sō.haṅyasayayataśacāhaṅbhagavavaṅsatadabharavītumē .


ātamānama I am, daśarathātamajama Dasharatha's son, mānuṣama human, rāmama Rama, manayē thinking, saḥ he, ahama I, yasaya from where, ahama I, yaśaca whence, tata that, bhagavāna divine, mē me, baravītu tell

"I am Dasharatha's son, a human and thinking to be Rama. Tell me O divine creator, from where and whence I am here."
itibaruvāṇaṅkākutasathaṅbarahamābarahamavidāṅvaraḥ ।।6.120.12।।

abaravīcacharuṇumēvākayaṅsatayaṅsatayaparākarama .


iti thus, baruvāṇama having said, kākutasathama Kakuthsa, barahamavidāma creator, Brahma, varaḥ foremost, barahamā Brahma, abaravīta said, satayaparākarama truthful prowess, mē my, satayama truth, vākayama words, śṛṇu listen

To Kakuthsa who spoke that way, creator Brahma replied, "O Lord of truthful prowess, listen to my true submission."
bhavānanārāyaṇōdēvaḥśarīmāṅśacakarāyudhaḥparabhuḥ ।।6.120.13।।

ēkaśṛṅagōvarāhasatavaṅbhūtabhavayasapatanajita .


bhavāna yourself, dēvaḥ divine, śarīmāna glorious, cakarāyudhaḥ wielder of discus, parabhuḥ Lord, nārāṇayaḥ Narayana, tavama you, ēkaśṛṅagaḥ single tusk, varāhaḥ boar, bhūtabhavayasapatanajita knower of past and future

"You are the divine self, glorious Narayana himself, wielder of discus. You are having a single tusk and a divine boar, knower of past and present."
akaṣaraṅbarahamasatayaṅ ca madhayēcānatē ca rāghava ।।6.120.14।।

lōkānāṅtavaṅparōdharamōviṣavakasēnaśacaturabhujaḥ .


akaṣarama imperishable, madhayē ca in the midst, anatē ca and end, satayaṅ ca truth, barahama Brahma, tavama you, lōkānāma in the world, paraḥ, dharamaḥ dharma, viṣavakasēnaḥ all pervading, caturabhujaḥ four shouldered

"You are the imperishable Brahma in the midst or end, abiding in truth. You are dharma, all pervading four shouldered Vishnu in the world."
śāraṅagadhanavāhṛṣīkēśaḥpuruṣaḥpuruṣōtatamaḥ ।।6.120.15।।

ajitaḥkhaṅagadṛgaviṣaṇuḥkṛṣaṇaśacaivamahābalaḥ .


śāraṅagadhanavā wielder of Saranga bow, hṛṣīkēśaḥ subduer of senses, puruṣaḥ man, puruṣōtatamaḥ supreme person, ajitaḥ never faced defeat, khaṅagabhṛta wielder of sword, viṣaṇuḥ Vishnu, kṛṣaṇaśacaiva Krishna also, mahābalaḥ mighty

"You are the wielder of Sarang bow, subduer of enemies, a supreme person, never faced defeat, wielder of sword, Vishnu, Krishna also and mighty."
sēnānīragarāmaṇīśacatavaṅtavaṅbudadhisatavaṅkaṣamādamaḥ ।।6.120.16।।

parabhavaśacāpayayaśacatavamupēnadarōmadhusūdanaḥ .


tavama you, sēnānīḥ commander of the army of gods (Karthikeya), garāmaṇīśaca head of village, tavama you, budadhiḥ intellect, tavama you, kaṣamā forbearance, damaḥ sense control, tavama you, parabhavaḥ origin, apayayaśaca and end, upēnadaraḥVamana, madhusūdanaḥ destroyer of demon Madhu

"You are the Karthikeya, the commander of army, village headman. You are the intellect, forbearance. You are the origin and end also. You are Vamana and destroyer of demon Madhu."
inadarakaramāmahēnadarasatavaṅpadamanābhōraṇānatakṛta ।।6.120.17।।

śaraṇayaṅśaraṇaṅ ca tavāmāhuradivayāmaharaṣayaḥ .


tavama you, inadarakaramā creator of Indra, mahēnadaraḥ Mahendra, padamanābhaḥ Padmanabha, who has a lotus sprung from his navel, raṇānatakṛta who puts an end to combat, divayāḥ wonderful, maharaṣayaḥgreat sage, tavāma you, śaraṇayama refuge, śaraṇama of seekers, āhuḥ spoken of

"You are spoken of as the creator of Indra, Mahendra himself, Padmanabha, who puts an end to combat. You are a wonderful great sage and refuge of seekers."
sahasaraśṛṅagōvēdātamāśaraśīraṣōmaharaṣabhaḥ ।।6.120.18।।

tavaṅtarayāṇāṅhilōkānāmādikaratāsavayamaparabhuḥ .

sidadhānāmapisādhayānāmāśarayaśacāsipūravajaḥ ।।6.120.19।।


sahasaraśṛṅagaḥ thousand branches, śataśīraṣaḥ hundred divisions, maharaṣabhaḥ great bull like, vēdātamā self of Vedas, tavama you, tarayāṇāma three, lōkānāma in worlds, ādikaratā beginning, savayamaparabhuḥ self-shining, sidadhānāma Siddhas, sādhayānāmapi among the achievers, pūravajaḥ born first, āśarayaḥ ca protector, asi you are

"You are the self of Vedas with its thousand branches and hundred divisions. You are the beginning of the three worlds and end. You are the self-shining. You are the Siddha among the achievers and their refuge as well as their protector."
tavamayajañasatavaṅvaṣaṭakārasatavamōṅakāraḥparātaparaḥ ।।6.120.20।।

parabhavaṅnidhanaṅvātēnōviduḥkōbhavāniti .


tavama you are, yajañaḥ sacrificial ritual, tavama you are, vaṣaṭakāraḥ Vasat, tavama you are, ōṅakāraḥ syllable OM, parāta higher, paraḥ highest, tē you, parabhavama origin, nidhanaṅcāpi nor end, nōviduḥ not know, bhavāna you, kaḥiti who you are

"You are the form of sacrifice ritual; you are worshipped by Vasat. You are the syllable OM. Only the highest of the higher know you. You are without a beginning or end. Who you are is not known to Vedas also?"
dṛśayasēsaravabhūtēṣugōṣu ca barāhamaṇēṣu ca ।।6.120.21।।

dikaṣusaravāsugaganēparavatēṣunadīṣu ca .


saravabhūtēṣu in all beings, gōṣu ca cows, barāhamaṇēṣu ca Brahmanas, saravāsu all, dikaṣu quarters, gaganē sky, paravatēṣu in mountains, nadīṣu ca in rivers, dṛśayasē see you

"You are seen in cows and brahmanas. You exist in all quarters, in the sky, mountains and rivers."
sahasaracaraṇaśarīmāna śataśīraṣasasahasaradṛka ।।6.120.22।।

tavaṅdhārayasibhūtānipṛthivīṅ ca saparavatāma .


sahasaracaraṇaḥ endowed with thousand feet, śarīmāna glorious, śataśīraṣaḥ hundred heads, sahasaradṛka with thousand eyes, tavama you, bhūtāni beings, saparavatāma all mountains, pṛthivīṅ earth ca and, dhārayasi sustain

"You are endowed with thousand feet, glorious, with hundred heads and hundred eyes, you sustain all beings, mountains and earth."
anatēpṛthivayāḥsalilēdṛśayasētavaṅmahōragaḥ ।।6.120.23।।

tarīnalōkānadhārayana rāma dēvaganadharavadānavāna .


rāma Rama, pṛthivayāḥ on earth, anatē end, salilē in waters, tavama you, tarīna three, lōkāna worlds, dēvaganadharavadānavāna Devas, Gandharvas and Danavas, dhārayana sustain, mahōragaḥ great serpent, dṛśayasē seen

"Rama, at the dissolution of the earth you are seen to live on water and sustain a huge serpent. You are supporting the three worlds, the Devas, Gandharvas and Danavas."
ahaṅtēhṛdayaṅrāmajihavādēvīsarasavatī ।।6.120.24।।

dēvārōmāṇigātarēṣubarahamaṇāniramitāḥparabhō .


rāma Rama, ahama I, tē to you, hṛdayama heart, dēvī Devi, sarasavatī Saraswathi, jihavā tongue, parabhō Lord, dēvāḥ god, saravagātarēṣu limbs, rōmāṇi hair, barahamaṇā by Brahma, niramitāḥ created

"Rama, all gods constitute your heart, Devi Saraswathi is your tongue, the gods created by Brahma are the hair on your limbs."
nimēṣasatēsamṛtārātarirunamēṣōdivasasatathā ।।6.120.25।।

saṅsakārāsatavabhavanavēdānaitadasatitavayāvinā .


tē your, nimēṣaḥ closing your eyelids, rātariḥ night, samṛtā death, tathā so also, unamēṣaḥ open the eyelids, divasaḥ day, saṅsakārāḥ perfection in action, vēdāḥ Vedas, tavayāvinā without you, ētata all this, nāsati not there

"When you close your eyelids, it becomes night and when you open it becomes day. Your perfection in action are the Vedas. Without you, there is nothing."
jagatasaravaṅśarīraṅtēsathairayaṅtēvasuthātalama ।।6.120.26।।

aganiḥkōpaḥparasādasatēsōmaśarīvatasalakaṣaṇaḥ .


saravama all, jagata world, tē your, śarīrama body, tē your, sathairayama firmness, vasuthātalama the earth, kōpaḥ anger, aganiḥ fire, tē your, parasādaḥ grace, sōmaḥ nobility, śarīvatasalakaṣaṇaḥ sign of Srivatsa

"The total world represents your body, your firmness represents the earth, your anger is fire, your grace is nobility, a sign of Srivatsa."
tavayālōkāsatarayaḥkarānatāḥpurāsavairavikaramaisataribhiḥ ।।6.120.27।।

mahēnadharaśacakṛtōrājābaliṅbadadhavāsudāruṇama .


purā before, tavayā you, savaiḥ, taribhiḥ three strides, vikaramaiḥ Vikrama, tarayaḥ three, lōkāḥ worlds, karānatāḥ occupied, sudāruṇama very dreadful, balima King Bali badadhavā binding, mahēnadaraḥ Mahendra, rājā king, kṛtaḥ did

"Before you took the form of Trivikrama, and took three strides, occupied the three worlds and bound the dreadful king Bali you made Mahendra as king of heaven."
sītālakaṣamīrabhavāna viṣaṇuradēvaḥkṛṣaṇaḥparajāpatiḥ ।।6.120.28।।

vadhārathaṅrāvaṇasayēhaparaviṣaṭōmānuṣīṅtanuma .


sītā Sita, lakaṣamīḥ Lakshmi, bhavāna you, dēvaḥ god, kṛṣaṇaḥKrishna, parajāpatiḥ Lord, viṣaṇuḥ Vishnu, rāvaṇasaya Ravana's, vadhārathama in order to put an end, iha here, mānuṣama mortal, tanuma body, paraviṣaṭaḥ entered

"Sita is goddess Lakshmi while you are Vishnu. You are Krishna. You are the Lord of created beings. In order to put an end to Ravana, you entered the mortal body on earth."
tadidaṅnasatavayākārayaṅkṛtaṅdharamabhṛtāṅvara ।।6.120.29।।

nihatōrāvaṇōrāmaparahṛṣaṭōdivamākarama .


dharamabhṛtāma upholder of dharma, vara supreme, rāma Rama, tata that purpose for which, idama this, naḥkārayama that action, kṛtama is done, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, nihataḥ killed, parahṛṣaṭaḥ happily, divama abode, ākarama return to

"Rama you are the supreme and upholder of dharma. The purpose for which you are born has been accomplished. Ravana is killed. You return to your abode happily."
amōghaṅdēvavīrayaṅtē na tēmōghāḥparākaramāḥ ।।6.120.30।।

amōghaṅdaraśanaṅrāmaamōghasatavasaṅsatavaḥ .


dēva O God, tē your, vīrayama valour, amōghama wonderful, tē your, parākaramāḥ prowess, mōghāḥ astonishing, na never goes vain, rāmadaraśanama your sight, amōghama unfailing, tava your, saṅsatavaḥ praise, amōghaḥwill never go in vain

"O God! Your valour is wonderful, your prowess never goes in vain. Your sight is a blessing, and your praise is unfailing and not gone in vain."
amōghāsatēbhaviṣayanatibhakatimanatōnarābhuvi ।।6.120.31।।

yētavāṅdēvaṅdharuvaṅbhakatāḥpurāṇaṅpuruṣōtatamama .

parāpanuvanatisadākāmanihalōkēparatara ca ।।6.120.32।।


bhuvi in this world, tēbhakatimanataḥ whoever is devoted to you, narāḥ human, amōghāḥ supreme, bhaviṣayanati will be very successful, yē they, dēvama god, dharuvama firm, purāṇama eternal, puruṣōtatamama supreme human being, tavāma you, bhakatāḥ devotees, ihalōkē in this world, paratara ca in other world, sadā always, kāmāma desired, parāpanuvanati will attain success.

"Those mortals who are devoted to you, the supreme god, will be very successful. You are eternal, supreme being. Your devotees in this world and other world will always attain the desired results."
imamāraṣaṅsatavaṅdivayamitihāsaṅpurātanama ।।6.120.33।।

yēnarāḥkīratayiṣayanatināsatitēṣāṅparābhavaḥ .


yēnarāḥO mortal, divayama wonderful, purātanama ancient, itihāsama epic story, āraṣama difficulty, imama this, satavama chant, kīratayiṣayanati will attain fame, tēṣāma for them, parābhavaḥ insult, nāsati not

"O Mortal! This wonderful ancient history, whoever chants/sings will not experience difficulty, will attain fame and will never face insult."
।। itayāraṣēvālamīkīyēśarīmadarāmāyaṇēādikāvayēyudadhakāṇaḍēviṅśatayutataraśatatamasasaragaḥ ।।
This is the one hundred and twenty sarga of Yuddha Kanda of the first epic the holy Ramayana composed by sage Valmiki.
