[Instructed by Rama, Hanuman informs Guha and Bharata about Rama's arrival.]

ayōdhayāṅtusamālōkayacinatayāmāsarāghavaḥ .

pariyakāmaḥpariyaṅrāmasatatasatavaritavikaramaḥ ।।6.128.1।।


tataḥ thereupon, rāghavaḥ Raghava, tavaritavikaramaḥ quick in exhibiting prowess, rāmaḥ Rama, ayōdhayāma Ayodhya, samālōkaya with friends pariyakāmaḥ wished, pariyama dear, cinatayāmāsa started thinking

There upon Raghava who was quick in exhibiting his prowess started thinking with his friends looking at Ayodhya (from Pushpaka).
cinatayitavātatōdṛṣaṭiṅvānarēṣunayapātayata .

uvācadhīmāṅsatējasavīhanūmanataṅpalavaṅagamama ।।6.128.2।।


tataḥ then, dhīmāna wise, tējasavī energetic, cinatayitavā thinking, vānarēṣu to Vanaras, dṛṣaṭima mind, nayapātayata casting his attention, palavaṅagamama monkeys, hanūmanatama Hanumantha, uvāca spoke

Then wise and energetic Rama, thinking, casting his attention on the Vanaras, spoke to Hanuman.
ayōdhayāṅtavaritōgatavāśīgharaṅpalavagasatatama .

jānīhikachacitakuśalījanōnṛpatimanadirē ।।6.128.3।।


palavagasatatama chief of monkeys, tavaritaḥ going quickly, ayōdhayāma Ayodhya, śīgharama hastily, gatavā going, nṛpatimanadirē king's mansion, janaḥ people, kuśalīkacacita wellbeing, jānīhi try to know

"Chief of monkeys! Going quickly to the king's mansion in Ayodhya try to find out about the wellbeing of the people."
śṛṅagabēripuraṅparāpayaguhaṅgahanagōcarama .

niṣādādhipatiṅbarūhikuśalaṅvacanānamama ।।6.128.4।।


śṛṅagabēripurama Sringaberipuram, gatavā going, gahanagōcarama seen from the sky, niṣādādhipatima leader of Nishadas, guhama Guha, mama my, vacanāta words of inquiry, kuśalama wellbeing, barūhi tell

"Go to Sringaberipuram which is seen from the sky, meet Guha the leader of Nishadas and tell him of my inquiry and wellbeing."
śarutavātumāṅkuśalinamarōgaṅvigatajavarama .

bhaviṣayatiguhaḥparītasasamamātamasamasasakhā ।।6.128.5।।


māma my, kuśalinama wellbeing, ārōgama in good health, vigatajavarama free from anxiety, śarutavā hearing, guhaḥ Guha, parītaḥ very happy, bhaviṣayati will feel, saḥ he, mama my, ātamasamaḥ equal to me, sakhā friend

"He will be very happy to hear that I am in good health free from anxiety. He is equal to me and my friend."
ayōdhayāyāśacatēmāragaṅparavṛtatiṅbharatasaya ca .

nivēdayiṣayatiparītōniṣādādhipatiraguhaḥ ।।6.128.6।।


parītaḥ dear, niṣādādhipatiḥ king of Nishadas guhaḥ Guha, tē to you, ayōdhayāyāḥ to Ayodhya māragama way, bharatasaya Bharata's, paravṛtatiṅcanature, nivēdayiṣayati will reveal you

"Dear Guha, the king of Nishadas will tell you the way to Ayodhya and Bharata's nature."
bharatasatutavayāvācayaḥkuśalaṅvacanānamama .

sidadhārathaṅśaṅsamāṅtasamaisabhārayaṅsahalakaṣamaṇama ।।6.128.7।।


bharataḥtu Bharata also, mama my, vacanāta with my words, kuśalama wellbeing, vācayaḥ words of inquiry, sabhārayama with wife, sahalakaṣamaṇama with Lakshmana, māma me, sidadhārathama accomplished, tasamai your, śaṅsa doubt

"Please tell Bharata my words of inquiry of his wellbeing and that having accomplished my purpose I returned with my wife and Lakshmana."
haraṇaṅcāpivaidēhayārāvaṇēnabalīyasā .

sugarīvēṇa ca samavādaṅvālinaśacavadhaṅraṇē ।।6.128.8।।


balīyasā strong, rāvaṇēna by Ravana, vaidēhayāḥ Vaidehi, haraṇama abduction, sugarīvēṇa by Sugriva, saṅvādaṅ ca friendship, raṇē in combat, vālinaḥ Vali, vadhama killing

"O powerful Hanuman! you may tell him of the abduction of Vaidehi by Ravana, my friendship with Sugriva and killing of Vali in combat."
maithilayanavēṣaṇaṅcaivayathācādhigatātavayā .

laṅaghayitavāmahātōyamāpagāpatimavayayama ।।6.128.9।।


maithilayanavēṣaṇaṅcaiva search for Mythili, tavayā by you, mahātōyama huge ocean, avayayama never decreasing, āpagāpatima vast stretch of water, laṅaghayitavā leaping across, yathaā similarly, adhigatā finding Sita

"You may tell him of the search for Mythili by you, crossing the vast never decreasing stretch of water, leaping across and finding Sita."
upayānaṅsamudarasayasāgarasaya ca daraśanama .

yathā ca kāritasasētūrāvaṇaśacayathāhataḥ ।।6.128.10।।


samudarasaya ocean's, upayānama going near, sāgarasaya ocean, daraśanaṅ ca appearing before me, sētuḥ, yathā so also, kāritaḥ bridge, rāvaṇaśaca Ravana, yathā so also, hataḥ killed

" Also, about my going near ocean and his (Ocean god) appearance before me, construction of the bridge killing of Ravana."
varadānaṅmahēnadarēṇabarahamaṇāvaruṇēna ca .

mahādēvaparasādācachapitarāmamasamāgamama ।।6.128.11।।


mahēnadarēṇa by Mahendra, barahamaṇā by Brahma, varuṇēna ca by Varuna, varadānama bestowing boon, mahādēvaparasādēna by the grace of Mahadeva, pitarā father, mama me, samāgamama meeting

" About Mahendra accompanied by Brahma and Varuna bestowing boon and by the grace of Mahadeva and meeting my father."
upayātaṅ ca māṅsaumaya bharatāyanivēdaya .

saharākaṣasarājēnaharīṇāmīśavarēṇa ca ।।6.128.12।।


saumaya Gentle, māma me, rākaṣasarājēnasaha with Rakshasa king, harīṇāma with Vanaras, īśavarēṇa Lord of, upayātama coming, bharatāya Bharata, nivēdaya tell him

"Gentle Hanuman! tell him about my coming with Sugriva the king of Vanaras, and king of Rakshasas, Vibheeshana."
jitavāśatarugaṇānarāmaḥparāpayacānutatamaṅyaśaḥ .

upāyānaṅsamṛdadhārathasasahamitarairamahābalaiḥ ।।6.128.13।।


rāmaḥ Rama, śatarugaṇāna hosts of enemies, jitavā conquering, anutatamāma unsurpassed, yaśaḥ fame, parāpaya ca attained, samṛdadhārathaḥ accomplished the purpose, mahābalaiḥ mighty strong, mitaraiḥsaha with friends, upāyānaṅ returned

"Tell him that Rama , after conquering hosts of enemies, attaining unsurpassed fame, accomplished his purpose, has returned with mighty friends."
ētacacharutavāyamākāraṅbhajatēbharatasatataḥ .

sa ca tēvēditavayaḥsayātasaravaṅyacachāpimāṅparati ।।6.128.14।।


ētata all this, śarutavā listening, tataḥ then, bharataḥBharata, yama his, ākārama form, bhajatē appears, saḥ ca true, tē you, vēditavayaḥ knowing, māṅparati to me in turn, yacachāpi his expression, sayāta check, saravama all

"Listening to Bharata, and seeing his form, expression on hearing this news and knowing his intent, checking all this you may return to me."
jañēyāḥsaravē ca vṛtatānatāḥbharatasayēṅagitāni ca .

tatatavēnamukhavaraṇēnadṛṣaṭayāvayābhāṣitēna ca ।।6.128.15।।


saravē ca everything, vṛtatānatāḥ information, jañēyāḥ knowing, mukhavaraṇēna facial colour, dṛṣaṭayā expression, vayābhāṣitēna ca by his speech, bharatasayaBharata's, iṅagitāni intention, tatatavataḥtruly, jañēyāḥ ascertained

" All the information, everything to be known by his facial colour, expression, by his speech, his intention to be ascertained truly."
saravakālasamṛdadhaṅhihasatayaśavarathasaṅakulama .

pitṛpaitāmahaṅrājayaṅkasayanāvaratayēnamanaḥ ।।6.128.16।।


saravakālasamṛdadhama abundant in all seasons, hasatayaśavarathasaṅakulama hordes of elephants and horses, pitṛpaitāmahama father and grandfathers, rājayama kingdom, kasaya whose, manaḥ mind, na āvaratayēta not tempt

"Whose mind will not be tempted at the abundance of elephants and horses of father's and grandfather's kingdom?"
saṅagatayābharataśarīmāna rājayēnārathīsavayaṅbhavēta .

paraśāsatuvasudhāṅsaravāmakhilāṅraghunanadanaḥ ।।6.128.17।।


śarīmāna glorious, bharataḥ Bharata, saṅagatayā meeting, rājayēna in the kingdom, arathī, savayama by himself, bhavēta become, raghunanadanaḥ enhancer of the joy of Raghus, saravāma all, akhilāma entire, vasudhāma on the earth, paraśāsatu lauded

"If the glorious Bharata who is an enhancer of the joy of Raghus having enjoyed the kingdom for long himself, let him rule all the entire earth it is laudable."
tasayabudadhiṅ ca vijañāyavayavasāyaṅ ca vānara .

yāvananadūraṅyātāḥsamakaṣiparamāganatumarahasi ।।6.128.18।।


vānara Hanuman the Vanara, tasaya your, budadhima mind, vayavasāyaṅ ca making effort, vijañāya knowing, yāvata all, dūramadistance, na yātāḥsama before we go, kaṣiparama quickly, āganatuma reach, arahasi ought to

"Hanuman, making an effort to know his mind you ought to come quickly before we go too far a distance."
itiparatisamādiṣaṭōhanūmānamārutātamajaḥ .

mānuṣaḥdhārayanṛpamayōdhayāṅtavaritōyayau ।।6.128.19।।


iti thus, paratisamādiṣaṭaḥ commanded, mārutātamajaḥ son of Maruti, hanumāna Hanuman, tavaritaḥ speedily, mānuṣaṅrūpama human form, dhārayana taking, ayōdhayāma to Ayodhya, yayau went

Commanded like that Hanuman went speedily taking human form to Ayodhya.
atōtapapātavēgēnahanūmānamārutātamajaḥ .

garutamānivavēgēnajighṛkaṣanapananagōtatamama ।।6.128.20।।


atha and then, mārutātamajaṅhanūmāna Hanuman, the son of Maruti, pananagōtatamama the best of serpents, vēgēna at great speed, jighṛkaṣana vanquish, garutamāniva like Garuda, vēgēna speedily, utapapāta rose

Then Hanuman rose up just like Garuda who goes at great speed to vanquish the best of serpents.
laṅaghayitavāpitṛpathaṅvihagēnadarālayaṅśubhama .

gaṅagāyamunayōrabhīmaṅsamatītayasamāgamama ।।6.128.21।।

śṛṅagabērapuraṅparāpayaguhamāsādayavīrayavāna .

sa vācāśubhayāhṛṣaṭōhanumānidamabaravīta ।।6.128.22।।


vīrayavāna valiant, saḥhanumāna that Hanuman, vihagēnadarālayama the course of the birds, śubhama auspicious, pitṛpathama path of wind god, laṅaghayitavā leaping, gaṅagāyamunayōḥ Ganga and Yamuna, bhīmama frightening, samāgamama confluence, samatītaya reaching, śṛṅagabēripurama Sringaberipuram, parāpaya attaining, guhama Guha, āsādaya seeing, hṛṣaṭaḥ joyful, śubhayā charming, vācā words, idama thus, abaravīta spoke

Valiant Hanuman, flying through the course of the birds, through the auspicious path of the wind god, leaping across Ganga and Yamuna, reached Sringaberipuram, saw Guha, rejoiced and thus spoke charming words.
sakhātutavakākutasathōrāmasasatayaparākaramaḥ .

sasītasasahasaumitarisasatavāṅkuśalamabaravīta ।।6.128.23।।


tava your, sakhā friend, kākutasatha: Kakuthsa, satayaparākaramaḥ truly valiant, sasītaḥ with Sita, sahasaumitariḥ with Saumithri, saḥrāmaḥ he, Rama, tavāma you, kuśalama welfare, abaravīta said

"Your friend Rama, truly valiant one, with his wife Sita, with Lakshmana conveys his welfare to you."
pañacamīmadayarajanīmuṣitavāvacanānamunēḥ .

bharadavājābhayanujañātaṅdarakaṣayasayadayaivarāghavama ।।6.128.24।।


adaya today, munēḥ sage, vacanāta by the words, pañacamīma fifth, rajanīma night, uṣitavā night, bharadavājābhayanujañātama with the permission of Bharadvaja, rāghavama Raghava, adayaiva morning, darakaṣayasi you will see

"Tomorrow that is the fifth lunar day, after spending the night at sage Bharadwaja's hermitage Raghava will see you."
ēvamukatavāmahātējāsasamaparahṛṣaṭatanūruhaḥ .

utapapātamahāvēgādavēgavānavicārayana ।।6.128.25।।


mahātējāḥ highly energetic, samaparahṛṣaṭatanūruhaḥ thrilled overcome by happiness, vēgavāna endowed with speed, avicārayana not caring for the fatigue, mahāvēgāta swift moving, utapapāta went up

Highly energetic Hanuman, was thrilled, overcome with happiness (that he was able to communicate to Guha) and unmindful of the fatigue, being endowed with speed and swift movement, went up.
sō.paśayadarāmatīrathaṅ ca nadīṅvālukinīṅtathā .

varūthīṅgōmatīṅcaivabhīmaṅśālavanaṅtathā ।।6.128.26।।

parajāśacabahusāhasarīḥsaphītānajanapadānapi .


saḥ he, rāmatīrathaṅ ca, Rama waters tathā so also, vālukinīṅnadīma Valukini, varūthīma Varuthimi, gōmatīṅcaiva Gomathi, tathā so also, bhīmama fearful, śālavanama Sal woods, bahusāhasarīḥ many thousands, parajāśaca people, saphītāna numerous, janapadānapi kingdoms, apaśayata saw

He saw waters associated with Parasurama, and rivers Valukini, Varuthini, and Gomathi so also fearful woods of Sala trees and thousands of people, numerous kingdoms on the way.
saḥgatavādūramadhavānaṅtavaritaḥkapikuñajaraḥ ।।6.128.27।।

āsasādadarumāna phulalānananadigarāmasamīpagāna .

satarībhisasaputarairavṛdadhaiśacaramamāṇaiḥsavalaṅakṛtaiḥ .

surādhipasayōpavanēyathācaitararathēdarumāna ।।6.128.28।।


saḥ he, kapikuñajaraḥ elephant among monkeys, tavaritaḥ soon, dūrama distance, adhavānama speeding on the journey, gatavā going, satarībhiḥ women, saputaraiḥ their sons, savalaṅakṛtaiḥ well decorated, ramamāṇaiḥ sporting, vṛdadhaiśacaja old people, surādhipasaya like that of Indra, upavanē gardens, caitararathē Chaitraratha, darumānayathā trees, nanadigarāmasamīpagāna close by Nandigrama, phulalāna blossoms, darumāna trees, āsasāda reached

Speeding on the journey for long distance Hanuman, the elephant among the monkeys saw women, their sons, grand sons and the old, well decorated, sporting in the gardens which were like the gardens of Indra and the gardens of Chaitraratha of Kubera with trees and close to Nandigrama, he saw trees full of blossoms.
karōśamātarētavayōdhayāyācaśīrakṛṣaṇājinamabarama ।।6.128.29।।

dadaraśabharataṅdīnaṅkṛśamāśaramavāsinama .

jaṭilaṅmaladigadhāṅagaṅbharātṛvayasanakaraśitama ।।6.128.30 .

phalamūlāśinaṅdānataṅtāpasaṅdharamacāriṇama .

samunanatajaṭābhāraṅvalakalājinavāsasama ।।6.128.31।।

niyataṅbhāvitātamānaṅbarahamaraṣisamatējasama .

pādukētēpurasakṛtayaparaśāsanataṅvasunadharāma ।।6.128.32 .

cāturavaraṇasayalōkasayatarātāraṅmahatōbhayāta .

upasathitamamātayaiśacaśucibhiśacapurōhitaiḥ ।।6.128.33।।

balamukhayaiśacayukataiśacakāṣāyāmabaradāribhiḥ .


ayōdhayāyāḥ in Ayodhya, karōśamātarē two miles distance, cīrakṛṣaṇājināmabarama wearing the skin of antelope, dīnama piteously, kṛśama emaciated, jaṭilama miserable, maladigadhāṅagama dirty without any cleaning, bharātṛvayasanakaraśitama afflicted by the separation of the brother, phalamūlaśinama living on fruits and roots, dānatama subdued, tāpasama practicing austerities, dharamacāriṇama following righteous practices, samunanatajaṭābhārama very high matted hair, valakalājinavāsasama wearing upper part with bark, niyatama disciplined, bhāvitātamānama whose soul is purified by meditation, barahamaraṣisamatējasama like Brahmarshi in brilliance, tē your, pādukē sandals, purasakṛtaya placing, vasunadharāma on the ground, paraśāsanatama ruling, cāturavaraṇayasaya all the four divisions, lōkasaya of the world, saravataḥall sides, bhayāta from fear, tarātārama protecting, śucibhiḥ upright, amātayaiśaca ministers, purōhitaiḥ priests, yukatai: united with, balamukhayaiśaca chiefs of army, upasathitama stood, āśaramavāsinama living in the hermitage, bharatama Bharata, dadaraśa saw

' At a distance of two miles from Ayodhya, Hanuman saw Bharata living in a hermitage wearing black skin of antelope, emaciated, piteous, not clean, without any cleaning of the body, affected by the separation from brother; living on fruits and roots, subdued practicing austerities, following righteous practices; disciplined, soul purified by meditation, like Brahmarshi in brilliance, placing your sandals on ground ruling the earth, all the four divisions free from fear on all sides, protecting the upright, ministers, priests, united with chiefs of army stood there' (reported Hanuman).
nahitērājaputaraṅtaṅcīrakṛṣaṇājināmabarama ।।6.128.34।।

paribhōkatuṅvayavasayanatipaurāvaidharamavatasalāḥ .


dharamavatasalāḥ lovers of virtues, tēpaurāḥ those citizens, cīrakṛṣaṇājināmabarama wore bark of trees and skin of antelope, rājaputarama prince, tama them, paribhōkatuma to enjoy luxuries, na vayavasayanatihi not inclined for pleasures

The citizens (of Ayodhya) who were lovers of virtues did not enjoy any luxuries, not inclined for pleasures as the prince himself was wearing bark of trees and skin of antelope.
tamadharamamivadharamajañaṅdēhavanatamivāparama ।।6.128.35।।

uvācaparāñajaliravākayaṅhanūmānamārutātamajaḥ .


mārutātamajaḥ Maruti's son, hanumāna Hanuman, dharamajañama righteous, dēhavanatama body of dharma, aparama supreme, dharamamiva dharma like, tama him, parāñajaliḥ offered salutations, vākayama these words, uvāca spoke

Maruti's son Hanuman offered salutations to Bharata who was seen like a supreme body of dharma itself as if he was another form of dharma.
vasanataṅdaṇaḍakāraṇayēyaṅtavaṅcīrajaṭādharama ।।6.128.36।।

anuśōcasikākutasathaṅ sa tavāṅkauśalamabaravīta .


daṇaḍakāraṇayē at Dandakaranya, vasanatama living, cīrajaṭādharama wearing bark of trees and with matted hair, yama him, kākutasathama Kakuthsa, anuśōcasi you are worrying, saḥ he, tavāma you, kauśalama welfare, abaravīta sent to tell

"That Kakuthsa for whom you are worrying and living as he was at Dandaka forest with bark tree fabric, and matted hair sent me to tell you about his welfare."
pariyamākhayāmitēdēvaśōkaṅtayajasudāruṇama ।।6.128.37।।

asaminamuhūratēbharātarātavaṅrāmēṇasahasaṅagataḥ .


dēva O god, tē you, pariyama pleasant, ākhayāmi will tell, sudāruṇama terrible, śōkama grief, tayaja give up, asamina your, muhūratē moment, tavama your, bharātarā brother, rāmēṇa Rama and saha with, saṅagataḥ reunited

"O God! I will tell you some pleasant news. Give up that terrible grief. You will be reunited with your brother this moment."
nihatayarāvaṇaṅrāmaḥparatilabhaya ca maithilīma ।।6.128.38।।

upayātisamṛdadhārathaḥsahamitarairamahābalaiḥ .


rāmaḥ Rama, rāvaṇama Ravana, nihataya killed, maithilīmaMythili, paratilabhaya recovered, samṛdadhārathaḥ having accomplished the purpose, mahābalaiḥ mighty, mitaraiḥsaha with friends, upayāti coming

"Rama killed Ravana and recovered Mythili. He, having accomplished the purpose, is coming with his mighty friends."
lakaṣamaṇaśacamahātējāvaidēhī ca yaśasavinī ।।6.128.39।।

sītāsamagarārāmēṇamahēnadarēṇaśacīyathā .


mahātējāḥ endowed with extraordinary energy, lakaṣamaṇaśaca Lakshmana's, yaśasavinī illustrious, rāmēṇa by Rama, samagarā, sītā Sita, mahēnadarēṇa by Mahendra, śacīyathā like Sachi

"Lakshmana who is endowed with extraordinary energy, and illustrious Sita accompanied by Rama will be coming as Sachi with Mahendra."
ēvamukatōhanumatābharataḥkaikayīsutaḥ ।।6.128.40।।

papātasahasāhṛṣaṭōharaṣānamōhamupāgamata .


hanumatā Hanuman, ēvama in that way, ukataḥsaid, kaikayīsutaḥson of Kaikeyi, bharataḥ Bharata, hṛṣaṭaḥ delighted, sahasā instantly, bhūmau on the ground, papāta fell, haraṣāta in extreme joy, mōhama lost senses, upāgamata overtaken by

Hanuman having said that, the son of Kaikeyi was delighted and instantly fell on ground and lost senses by extreme joy.
tatōmuhūratādutathāyaparatayāśavasaya ca rāghavaḥ ।।6.128.41।।

hanūmanatamuvācēdaṅbharataḥpariyavādinama .


tataḥ then, rāghavaḥ Raghava, bharataḥ Bharata, muhūratāta in a moment, utathāya got up, paratayāśavasaya ca in person, pariyavādinama sweet in speech, hanūmanatama Hanuman, idama thus, uvāca spoke

Bharata got up in a moment and saw Hanuman, who is sweet in speech said this.
aśōkajaiḥparītimayaiḥkapimāliṅagayasamabharamāta ।।6.128.42।।

siṣēcabharataḥśarīmānavipulairaśarubinadhubhiḥ .


śarīmāna glorious, bharataḥ Bharata, kapima monkey, samabharamāta overwhelmed, āliṅagaya embraced, aśōkajaiḥ born of joy, parītimayaiḥ affectionately, vipulaiḥ copious, aśarubinadubhiḥ tears of joy, siṣēca shed

Glorious Bharata was overwhelmed with joy and embraced Hanuman and copious tears of joy born of joy.
dēvōvāmānuṣōvātavamanukarōśādihāgataḥ ।।6.128.43।।

pariyākhayānasayatēsaumayadadāmibaruvataḥpariyama .

gavāṅśatasahasaraṅ ca garāmāṇāṅ ca śataṅparama ।।6.128.44।।

sakuṇaḍalāśaśubhācārābhārayāḥkanayāsatuṣōḍaśa .

hēmavaraṇāsasunāsōrūśaśaśisaumayānanāḥsatariyaḥ ।।6.128.45।।

saravābharaṇasamapananāsasamapananāḥkulajātibhiḥ .

"O Gentle Hanuman! You have come here with great compassion. Are you God or a human being? For the sweet tidings brought by you to me, I will bestow a hundred thousand cows, hundred best villages, sixteen virgin women of good conduct as wives with earrings, with shapely noses, full moon like face, golden complexioned, decked with ornaments and rich women."
