[Saarana describes the strength of the heroes of Vanara army to Ravana]

tāṅstutē.haṅpravakṣyāmiprēkṣamāṇasyayūthapān .

rāghavārthēparākrāntāyēnarakṣantijīvitam ।।6.27.1।।


rāghavārthē: for the cause of Raghava, parākrāntāḥ highly valiant ones, yē: their, jīvitam life, narakṣanti: not caring for, tān those, yūthapān army, prēkṣamāṇasya: you may see, tē: those, ahaṅ: I, pravakṣyāmi: will describe to you.

"I will describe the Vanara force, who are not caring for their lives for the cause of Raghava. You may see."
snigdhāyasyabahuvyāmāvālālāṅgūlamāśritāḥ .

tāmrāḥpītāssitāśśvētāḥprakīrṇāghōrakarmaṇaḥ ।।6.27.2।।

pragṛhītāḥprakāśantēsūryasyēvamarīcayaḥ .

pṛthivyāṅcānukṛṣyantēharōnāmaiṣayūthapaḥ ।।6.27.3।।


ghōrakarmaṇaḥ one of terrific action, yasya: his, lāṅgūlam tall, āśritāḥ holding, bahuvyāmāḥ measuring many fathoms, snigdhā: glossy, tāmrāḥ red, pītāḥ yellow, sitāḥ white, śvētāḥ white, prakīrṇāḥ scattered forth, vālāḥ hairy, sūryasya: Sun 's, pragṛhītāḥ holding, marīcayaḥiva: like rays of light, prakāśantē: shining, pṛthivyām on the ground, anukṛṣyantēcaēṣaḥ and dragging this, harōnāmayūthapaḥ known as leader Hara.

"One who is of terrific action, whose long tail with plenty of hair of different colours like red, white, yellow with shining ends shining like the scattered rays of the rising sun is holding and dragging on the ground is a leader known as Hara."
yaṅpṛṣṭhatō.nugacchantiśataśō.thasahasraśaḥ .

drumānudyamyasahasālaṅkārōhaṇatatparāḥ ।।6.27.4।।

yūthapāharirājasyakiṅkarāssamupasthitāḥ .


samupasthitāḥ standing in attention, harirājasya: Sugriva's, kiṅkarāḥ warriors, śataśaḥ in hundreds, atha: and, sahasraśaḥ hundred thousands, yūthapāḥ troops, drumān huge trees, udyamya: taking hold, sahasā: along with, laṅkārōhaṇatatparāḥ aspiring to climb to Lanka, yam whom, pṛṣṭhataḥ at the back, anugacchanti: following.

"Standing in attention near Sugriva are hundreds and thousands of warriors holding huge trees aspiring to climb Lanka and controlling the Vanaras at the back prominently and following."
nīlānivamahāmēghāṅstiṣṭhatōyāṅstupaśyasi ।।6.27.5।।

asitāñjanasaṅkāśān yuddhēsatyaparākramān .

asaṅ khyēyānanirdēśyānparaṅpāramivōdadhēḥ ।।6.27.6।।

parvatēṣucayēkēcidviṣamēṣunadīṣuca .

ētētvāmabhivartantērājannṛkṣāssudāruṇāḥ ।।6.27.7।।


rājan O king!, nīlān dark, mahāmēghāniva: like a huge cloud, tiṣṭhatiḥ standing, asitāñjanasaṅkāśān who are of black colour like collyrium, yuddhē: in war, satyaparākramān of unfailing valour, asaṅ khyēyān innumerable ones, udadhēḥ water, paraṅpāramiva: like the other bank of sea shore, anirdēśyān who cannot be defined, yāntu: whom, paśyasi: you may see, yēkēcit them perhaps, parvatēṣu: from mountains, viṣamēṣu: difficult locations, nadīṣuca: in the rivers, ētē: those, sudāruṇāḥ highly ferocious, ṛkṣāḥ Bears, tvām to you, abhivartantē: are advancing.

"O King! Standing like dark clouds, black in colour like collyrium, who are of unfailing valour in war, innumerable in numbers, like the small particles of sand on the other bank of ocean, who cannot be counted are moving towards you. They are from mountains, riverbanks, and difficult locations. Those highly ferocious Bears are advancing towards you."
ēṣāṅmadhyēsthitōrājanbhīmākṣōbhīmadarśanaḥ .

parjanyaivajīmūtaissamantātparivāritaḥ ।।6.27.8।।

ṛkṣavantaṅgiriśrēṣṭhamadhyāstēnarmadāṅpiban .

sarvaṛkṣāṇāmadhipatirdhūmrōnāmaiṣayūthapaḥ ।।6.27.9।।


rājan O king, ēṣām these, madhyē: midst, sthitaḥ stands, bhīmākṣaḥ of frightening eyes, bhayadarśanaḥ fearful to look, jīmūtaiḥ clouds, parjanyaḥiva: like Parjanya, samantāt for all, parivāritaḥ surrounded, ēṣaḥ this, sarvaṛkṣāṇām for all the Bears, adhipatiḥ Lord, dhūmraḥnāma: called Dhumra, yūthapaḥ warrior, narmadām Narmada's, piban drinking, giriśrēṣṭham great mountain, ṛkṣavantam at Rkshavana, ādhyāstē: dwells.

"O king! In the midst of these (Vanaras) stands one with frightening eyes and fearful looks, just like Parjanya (RainGod) is surrounded by clouds, is the Lord of all these Bears called Dhumra. He dwells at the great Rkshavana mountain drinking Narmada's (river) water."
yavīyānasyatubhrātāpaśyainaṅparvatōpamam .

bhrātrāsamānōrūpēṇaviśiṣṭastuparākramaiḥ ।।6.27.10।।

saēṣajāmbavānnāmamahāyūthapayūthapaḥ .

prakrāntōguruvartīcasamprahārēṣvamarṣaṇa ।।6.27.11।।


parvatōpamam as if like a mountain, ēnam this, paśya: see, asya: his (Dh umr a's), yavīyān younger, bhrātā: brother, rūpēṇa: in body form, bhrātrā: brother, samānaḥ though similar, parākramē: in valour, viśiṣṭaḥ great, saēṣaḥ as such, mahāyūthapayūthapaḥēta: superior among leaders, jāmbavānnāma: Jambavan by name, prakrānta: of valourous deed, guruvartīca: devoted in serving elders, samprahārēṣu: in killing, āmarṣaṇaḥ intolerant.

"See this one like a mountain, he is the brother of Dhumra. Even though he is similar to his brother in body form and his valour is great. As such he is superior among leaders. He is called Jambavan, one of valourous deeds, devoted to elders and intolerant in killing."
ētēnasāhyaṅsumahatkṛtaṅśakrasyadhīmatā .

dēvāsurējāmbavatālabdhāścabahavōvarāḥ ।।6.27.12।।


dhīmatā: wise, ētēna: this, jāmbavatā: Jambavata, dēvāsurē: Devas and demons, śakrasya: to Indra, mahat great, sāhyam assisted, kṛtam has done, bahavaḥ many, varāśca: boons, labdhāḥ obtained.

"His assistance was given to Indra in the war between Devas and demons and in turn he obtained many boons."
āruhyaparvatāgrēbhyōmahābhravipulā: śilāḥ .

muñcantivipulākārānamṛtyōrudvijantica ।।6.27.13।।

rākṣasānāṅcasadṛśāḥpiśācānāṅcarōmaśāḥ .

ētasyasainyābahavōvicarantyagnitējasaḥ ।।6.27.14।।


rākṣasānām of Rakshasas, piśācānaṅca: and demons, sadṛśāḥ appearing, rōmaśāḥ with hairy-body, āgnitējasaḥ glowing like fire, bahavaḥ many, ētasyavipulākārāḥ their huge form, sainyāḥ army, āruhya: climbing, parvatāgrēbhyaḥ from the peaks of mountain, mahābhravipulāḥ like huge clouds, śilāḥ rocks, muñcanti: throwing, mṛtyōḥ even death, naudvijanti: not caring, vicaranti: go about.

Appearing with hairy-body glowing like fire like the Rakshasas and demons, many of them in huge form are climbing mountain peaks without caring for death and go about throwing rocks.
yaṅtvēnamabhisamrabdhaṅplavamānamivasthitam .

prēkṣantēvānarāssarvēsthitāyūthapayūthapam ।।6.27.15।।

ēṣarājan sahasrākṣaṅparyupāstēharīśvaraḥ .

balēnabalasampannōdambhōnāmaiṣayūthapaḥ ।।6.27.16।।


rājan O king!, sarvē: all, vānarā: Vanaras, abhisamrabdham highly agitated, plavamānamiva: jumping like monkeys, sthitam stationed, yūthapayūthapam leader of leaders, sthitam staying, tvē: they, yam fearsome, ēnam in that way, prēkṣantē: looking at him, balasaṅyuktaḥ mighty powerful, ēṣaḥ this, harīśvaraḥ Lord of monkeys, balēna: by strong army, sahasrākṣam thousand eyed, paryupāstē: sitting round, ēṣaḥ this, dambōnāmayūthapaḥ known as leader, Dhamba.

"O king! This Lord of monkeys, whom whether he is jumping like monkeys or standing is the leader of the leaders, whom the monkeys are looking at standing is called Dhamba, a mighty powerful, fearsome leader and Lord of monkeys. He is surrounded by a strong army like the thousand eyed Indra."
yaḥsthitaṅyōjanēśailaṅgacchanpārśvēnasēvatē .

ūrdhvaṅtathaivakāyēnagataḥprāpnōtiyōjanam ।।6.27.17।।

yasmānnaparamaṅrūpaṅcatuṣpādēṣuvidyatē .

śrutassaṅnnādanōnāmavānarāṇāṅpitāmahāḥ ।।6.27.18।।

yēnayuddhaṅpurādattaṅraṇēśakrasyadhīmatā .

parājayaścanaprāptassō.yaṅyūthapayūthapaḥ ।।6.27.19।।


yaḥ he who, yōjanē: a yojana, sthitam standing, śailam mountain, pārśvēna: by flanks, sēvatē: touches, tathaiva: so also, kāyēna: with his body, ūrdhvam gets up, gataḥ reaches, yōjanamprāpnōti: one yojana reaches, yasmāt than him, paramam bigger, rūpam form, catuṣpādēṣu: among the four legged ones, navidyatē: not there, dhīmatā: intelligent one, yēna: so, purā: earlier, raṇē: in war, śakrasya: with Indra, yuddham war, dattam gave, parājayaḥ lost battle, naprāptaḥ not got, saḥ he, yūthapaḥ commander, pitāmahāḥ grandfather, sannādanōnāma: known as Sannadana, śrutaḥ well known.

"He who stands at one yojana touches a mountain with his flanks, so also gets up and reaches a yojana height with his body, is Sannadana. He is the grandfather of Vanaras. There is no one who has a bigger body size than him among the four legged ones. He had fought war with Indra and is well known for not losing in the battle."
yasyavikramamāṇasyaśakrasyēvaparākramaḥ .

ēṣagandharvakanyāyāmutpannaḥkṛṣṇavartmanaḥ ।।6.27.20।।

tadādēvāsurēyuddhēsāhyārthaṅtridivaukasām

vikramamāṇasya: in valour, yasya: his, parākramaḥ valour, śakrasyēva: equal Indra, ēṣaḥ this, gandharvakanyām Gandharva maiden, kṛṣṇavartmanā: from fire god, tadā: then, dēvāsurēyuddhē: in the war between gods and demons, tridivaukasām for the sake of gods, sāhvārtham for assistance, utpannaḥ was created.

"His valour is equal to that of Indra. He is born to Gandharva, a maiden of the god of fire. He was created for the sake of assisting gods in the war between gods and demons."
yasyavaiśravaṇōrājājambūmupaniṣēvatē ।।6.27.21।।

yōrājāparvatēndrāṇāṅbahukinnarasēvinām .

vihārasukhadōnityaṅbhrātustērākṣasādhipa ।।6.27.22।।

tatraiṣavasatiśrīmānbalavānvānararṣabhaḥ .

yuddhēṣvakatthanōnityaṅkrōdhanōnāmayūthapaḥ ।।6.27.23।।


rākṣasādhipa: king of Rakshasas, vaiśravaṇa: Vysravana, rājā: king, yasya: his, jambūm Jambu tree, upaniṣēvatē: near, yaḥ he who, bahukinnarasēvinām frequented by many Kinnaras, parvētēndrāṇām Kailas the king of all mountains, rājā: king, tēbhrātuḥ your brother, nityam always, vihārasukhadaḥ strolling for pleasure, tatra: there, śrīmān prosperous, balavān powerful, vānarōttamaḥ exceptional among Vanaras, yuddhēṣu: in war, akatthanaḥ not boastful, ēṣaḥ this, krathanōnāma: Krathana by name, yūthapaḥ commander of troops, nityam always, vasati: lived.

"O King of Rakshasas! This Vanara who is exceptional among Vanaras, a commander of troops by name Krathana, who is not boastful in wars, lives on Kailas, the king of mountains which is frequented by many Kinnaras, on which your brother king Kubera son of Vysravana stays under Jambu tree and strolls for his pleasure."
vṛtaḥkōṭisahasrēṇaharīṇāṅsamupasthitaḥ .

ēṣaivāśaṅsatēlaṅkāṅsvēnānīkēnamarditum ।।6.27.24।।


harīṇām with Vanaras, kōṭisahasrēṇa: thousand crores, vṛtaḥ surrounded, sthitaḥ stays, svēna: his own, ānīkēna: army force, laṅkām Lanka, marditum to crush, āśaṅsatē: intends to.

"He is surrounded with thousand crores of his Vanara force and with his own force he intends to crush Lanka."
yōgaṅgāmanuparyētitrāsayangajayūthapān .

hastināṅvānarāṇāṅcapūrvavairamanusmaran ।।6.27.25।।

ēṣayūthapatirnētāgacchan giriguhāśayaḥ .

gajānyōdhayatēvanyāngirīṅścaivamahīruhān ।।6.27.26।।


ya: He who, gaṅgām Ganga, anuparyēti: roam around, trāsayana: frightening, gajayūthapān: herds of elephants, hastinām of elephants, vānarāṇāṅca: and Vanaras, pūrvavairam earlier enmity, anusmaran remembering, ēṣaḥ this, yūthapatirnētā: leader of commanders, gacchan going about,, giriguhāśayaḥ mountain caves, gajān elephants, yōdhayatē: waging war, vanyān wild, girīṅścaiva: and mountains, mahīruhān trees.

"There is one who roams around Ganga, frightening herds of elephants, remembering the earlier enmity between elephants and Vanaras. This leader of commanders goes about mountain caves, trees and mountains waging war with elephants."
harīṇāṅvāhinīmukhyōnadīṅhaimavatīmanu .

uśīrabījamāśrityaparvataṅmandarōpamam ।।6.27.27।।

ramatēvānaraśrēṣṭhōdiviśakraivasvayam .


harīṇām of the monkeys, vāhinīmukhyaḥ chief of the army, vānaraśrēṣṭhaḥ most excellent one, haimavatīm Hymavathi, nadīm river, uśīrabījam Usirabeejam, parvatam mountain, mandarōpamam like the Mandara mountain, āśritya: taking as abode, divi: in heaven, svayam just as, śakraḥiva: Indra, ramatē: revels.

"The chief of the army of monkeys and the excellent one among Vanaras revels on the mountain Usirabeejam like the mountain Mandara on the bank of river Hymavathi just as Indra in heaven."
ēnaṅśatasahasrāṇāṅsahasramanuvartatē .

vīryavikramadṛptānāṅnardatāṅbalaśālinām ।।6.27.28।।


vīryavikramadṛptānām who are proud of their valour and prowess, nardatām roaring like lions, balaśālinām mighty strong ones, śatasahasrāṇām hundred thousand, sahasram thousand, ēnam like that, anuvartatē: follow him.

"Thousand lakhs of mighty strong Vanaras who are proud of their valour and prowess roaring like lions follow him."
saēṣanētācaitēṣāṅvānarāṇāṅmahātmanām .

saēṣadurdharōrājanpramāthīnāmayūthapaḥ ।।6.27.29।।


saḥēṣaḥ he alone, ētēṣām their, mahātmanām great self, vānarāṇām for Vanaras, nētā: leader, rājan O king, saḥēṣaḥ he alone, durdharaḥ difficult to resist, pramāthīnāma: called Pramathi, yūthapaḥ commander.

"He alone is the leader of the great Vanaras, O king. He is called Pramathi, a commander and a difficult one to resist."
vātēnēvōddhataṅmēghaṅyamēnamanupaśyasi .

anīkamabhisaṅrabdhaṅvānarāṇāṅtarasvinām ।।6.27.30।।

uddūtamaruṇābhāsaṅpavanēnasamantataḥ .

vivartamānaṅbahudhāyatraitadbahuḷaṅrajaḥ ।।6.27.31।।


vātēna: by the wind, uddhatam risen up, mēghamiva: like a cloud, yam which, ēnam that way, anuśyasi: you see, yatra: there, pavanēna: by the wind, samantataḥ all over, uddhūttam lifted up, aruṇābhāsam reddish brown dust, bahuśaḥ abundantly, vivartamānam whirling round, bahuḷam several, rajaḥ dust particles, tarasvinām swiftly, vānarāṇām Vanaras, abhisaṅrabdham furious, anīkam: the army.

"You see him (Pramathi) who resembles a cloud risen up by the wind; you may also see the reddish brown dust particles lifted up by excessive whirling of the wind all over and also the furious Vanara army moving swiftly."
ētē.sitamukhāghōrāgōlāṅgūlāmahābalāḥ .

śataṅśatahasrāṇidṛṣṭvāvaisētubandhanam ।।6.27.32।।

gōlāṅgūlaṅmahāvēgaṅgavākṣaṅnāmayūdhapam .

parivāryābhivartantēlaṅkāṅmarditumōjasā ।।6.27.33।।


ētē: these, asitamukhāḥ endowed with black coloured face, ghōrāḥ fearsome, gōlāṅgūlāḥ black monkeys with tail like that of a cow, mahābalāḥ of extraordinary strength, śatam hundred, śatasahasrāṇī: hundred thousand, dṛṣṭavā: seeing, sētubandhanam bridge constructed, gōlāṅgūlam black coloured and cow tailed monkey, mahāvēgaṅ: of great speed, yūthapam leader, gavākṣaṅnāma: named Gavaksha,, parivārya: surrounded, abhivartantē: are approaching, ōjasā: with vigour, laṅkām Lanka, marditum to demolish.

"These hundred and hundred thousand black monkeys with a tail like that of a cow called Golangulas, endowed with black coloured face, fearsome and with extraordinary strength, watching the bridge constructed, surround Gavaksha the leader, who himself is a Golangula and of great speed. They intend to demolish Lanka with their vigour."

yaṅsūryastulyaparṇābhamanuparyētiparvatam .

yasyabhāsāsadābhāntitadvarṇāmṛgapakṣiṇaḥ ।।6.27.35।।

yasyaprasthaṅmahātmānōnatyajantimaharṣayaḥ .

sarvakālaphalāvṛkṣāssadāphalasamanvitāḥ ।।6.27.36।।

madhūnicamahārhāṇiyasminparvatasattamē .

tatraivaramatērājanramyēkāñcanaparvatē ।।6.27.37।।

mukhyōvānaramukhyānāṅkēsarīnāmayūthapaḥ .


rājan king, yatra: where, sarvakālaphaladrumāḥ trees that give fruits in all seasons, bhramarācaritāḥ inhabited by honey bees, tulyaparṇābham of similar leaves, sūryaḥ Sun, anuparyēti: along with adjoining, yasya: its, bhāsā: shining, mṛgapakṣiṇaḥ animals and birds, sadā: ever, tadvarṇāḥ its colour, bhānti: shining, mahātmānaḥ great souls, maharṣayaḥ sages, yasya: its, prasthaṅ: stable land on the top of the mountain, natyajanti: not leave, sarvē: all, sarvakāmaphalā: fruits of all seasons, vṛkṣāḥ trees, phalasamanvitāḥ with tasty fruits, yasmin of that, parvatasattamē: excellent mountain, madhūni: honey, mahārhāṇi: highly valuable, tatra: there, ramyē: delightful, kāñcanaparvatē: golden mountain, vānaramukhyānām among the chief Vanaras, mukhyaḥ chief, ēṣaḥ this, kēsari: Kesari, nāma: named, yūthapaḥ leader, ramatē: revels.

"O king! Where the trees give fruit in all seasons which is inhabited by honeybees, whose leaves shine similar to that of Sunshine, where birds animals and all ever shining in golden colour of the Sun, where sages and great souls reside without leaving; where trees always yield tasty fruits and have valuable honey; in such a delightful golden mountain Vanara leader named Kesari, the chief of all chief Vanaras revels."

tēṣāṅmadhyēgirivarastvamivānagharakṣasām .

tatraitēkapilāśśvētāstāmrāsyāmadhupiṅgalāḥ ।।6.27.39।।

nivasantyuttamagirautīkṣṇadaṅṣṭrānakhāyudhāḥ .

siṅhāivacaturdaṅṣṭrāvyāghrāivadurāsadāḥ ।।6.27.40।।

sarvēvaiśvānarasamājvalitāśīviṣōpamāḥ .

sudīrghāñcitalāṅgūlāmattamātaṅgasannibhāḥ ।।6.27.41।।

mahāparvatasaṅkāśāmahājīmūtanissvanāḥ .

vṛttapiṅgalaraktākṣābhīmābhīmagatisvarāḥ ।।6.27.42।।

mardayantīvatēsarvētasthurlaṅakāsamīkṣyatē .


anagha: sinless one, ramyāḥ delightful, kāñcanaparvatāḥ golden mountain, ṣaṣṭiḥ sixty, girisahasrāṇi: thousand mountains, rakṣasām among Rakshasas, tvamiva: like you alone, tēṣām them, madhyē: midst, giravaraḥ best one, tatra: there, antimagirau: on the last of the mountains, kapilāḥ brown, śvētāḥ white, tāmrāsyāḥ copper red, piṅgalāḥ yellowish like honey, tīkṣṇadaṅṣṭrāḥ of sharp teeth, nakhāyudhāḥ with nails as weapons, siṅhāiva: like lion, caturdaṣṭrāḥ four-toothed, vyāghrāḥiva: like tigers, durāsadāḥ dangerous to approach, sarvē: all, vaiśvānarasamāḥ like fire, jvalitāśīvaṣōpamāḥ flaming like serpents with venomous tongues, sūdīrghāñcitalāṅgūlāḥ long uplifted tails, mattamātaṅgasannibhāḥ like elephants in rut, mahāparvatasaṅkāśāḥ like huge mountainous form, mahājīmūtanissvanāḥ roaring like thundering clouds, vṛttapiṅgalaraktākṣā: of round brownish red eyes, bhīmagatisvarā: fearful while walking and causing appalling uproar, ētē: those, nivasanti: dwell, sarvē: all, tasthuḥ standing, tē: at, tē: of yours, laṅkām Lanka, samīkṣya: watching, mardayantīva: to demolish.

"O sinless king! there are sixty thousand golden mountains. In the midst of them is this golden mountain just as you are in the midst of the Rakshasas. On the last mountain the Vanaras with brown coloured face, white face, coppery red face and yellow face like honey with sharp teeth like lions, who have nails as weapons, four toothed ones like lions, fearsome ones like tiger, dangerous to approach, all of them like serpents with flaming venomous tongues, with long uplifted tails, like huge elephants in rut in mountain size, roaring like lions, thundering clouds, with round brownish red eyed ones, fearful while walking and causing appalling uproar all of them dwell on the last mountain. They are watching to demolish your Lanka as they look at it."

jayārthīnityamādityamupatiṣṭhatibuddhimān .

nāmnāpṛthivyāṅvikhyātōrājan śatabalītiyaḥ ।।6.27.44।।

ēṣaivāśaṅsatēlaṅkāṅsvēnānīkēnamarditum .


rājan O king!, yaḥ he who, nāmnā: named, śatabalīti: Satabali, pṛthivyām on this earth, vikhyātaḥ very famous, vīryavān valiant hero, ēṣām this, adhipati: leader, ēṣaḥ this, madhyē: in middle, tiṣṭhati: stands, buddhimān wise one, jayārdhī: aspiring for victory, nityam ever, ādityam Sun, upatiṣṭhatē: worships, ēṣaiva: he, svēna: alone, anīkēna: army, laṅkām of Lanka, marditum would demolish, āśaṅsatē: intending to do.

"O king! He who is known as Satabali, is a famous one on the earth, is a valiant hero, a leader. He stands in the middle aspiring for victory ever worshipping Sun. He alone with his army is intending to demolish Lanka."
vikrāntōbalavān śūraḥpauruṣēsvēvyavasthitaḥ .

rāmapriyārthaṅprāṇānāṅdayāṅnakurutēhariḥ ।।6.27.45।।


vikrāntaḥ indomitable, balavān strong, śūraḥ heroic, svē: himself, pauruṣē: virility, vyavasthitaḥ not give up, hariḥ Vanara, rāmapriyārtham for the pleasure of Rama, prāṇānām even life, dayām pity for, nakurutē: not care.

"He is indomitable, strong and heroic. He will not give up his virility. For the pleasure of Rama, he will not feel pity for his life (he will give up his life)."
gajōgavākṣōgavayōnalōnīlaścavānaraḥ .

ēkaikaēvayōdhānāṅkōṭībhirdaśabhirvṛtaḥ ।।6.27.46।।


gajaḥ Gaja, gavākṣaḥ Gavaksha, gavayaḥ Gavaya, nīlaḥ Nila, vānara: Vanara, ēkaikaēva: each one of them, yūdhānām of the leaders, kōṭibhiḥ even one crore, daśabhi: ten, vṛtaḥ are surrounded.

"Gaja, Gavaksha, Gavaya, Nila each of these Vanara leaders have ten crores of army under them."
tathā।।nyēvānaraśrēṣṭhāvindhyaparvatavāsinaḥ .

naśakyantēbahutvāttusaṅ khyātuṅlaghuvikramāḥ ।।6.27.47।।


tathā: similarly, vindhyaparvatāvāsinaḥ those residing in Vindhya mountain, anyē: others, laghuvikramāḥ of great valiance, vānaraśrēṣṭhāḥ best of Vanaras, bahutvāt many kinds, saṅ khyātum large numbers, naśakyantē: not possible to count.

"So also, those best of Vanaras of many kinds residing in Vindhya mountain of great valour in large numbers is impossible to count."
sarvēmahārājamahāprabhāvāssarvēmahāśailanikāśakāyāḥ .

sarvēsamarthāpṛthivīṅkṣaṇēnakartuṅpravidhvastavikīrṇaśailām ।।6.27.48।।


mahārāja: O great king!, sarvē: all, mahāprabhāvāḥ very splendid, sarvē: all, mahāśailanikāśakāyāḥ have mountain like body, sarvē: all, kṣaṇēna: in a second, pṛthivīm the whole earth, pravidhvastavikīrṇaśailām to crush the mountains into powder, kartum to do, samarthāḥ capable.

"O, Monarch! All of them are highly prominent, their stature equal to high hills and all of them are capable of levelling the earth by uprooting and razing its mountains to the ground in a moment."
।। ityārṣēvālmīkīyēśrīmadrāmāyaṇēādikāvyēyuddhakāṇḍēsaptaviṅśassargaḥ ।।
