[Rama's army takes position. Ravana seeks advice from his ministers and goes to Sita to threaten her to state that her husband has been killed and places counterfeit head of Rama by Sita's side.]

tatastamakṣōbhyabalaṅlaṅkādhipatayēcarāḥ .

suvēlērāghavaṅśailēniviṣṭaṅpratyavēdayan ।।6.31.1।।

tataḥ there upon laṅkāadhipatayē to the king of Lanka, carāḥ the spies, akṣōbhyabalam unshakeable army, taṅrāghavam of Raghava, laṅkāyām to Lanka, suvēlēśailēniviṣṭam staying at Suvela mountain, pratyavēdayan described.

There upon the spies described the unshakeable army of Raghava staying at Suvela mountain, to the king of Lanka.

cārāṇāṅrāvaṇaśśrutvāprāptaṅrāmaṅmahābalam .

jātōdvēgō.bhavatkiñcitsacivānidamabravīt ।।6.31.2।।

rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, mahābalam with mighty force, rāmam Rama, prāptam has come, cārāṇām from the spies, śrutvā heard, kiñcit a little, jātōdvēgaḥ got perturbed, sacivān ministers, idam here, abravīt said.

Having heard from the spies that Rama has come with mighty force, Ravana got perturbed and said to the ministers.

mantriṇaśśīghramāyāntusarvēvaisusamāhitāḥ .

ayaṅnōmantrakālōhisampraptāitirākṣasāḥ ।।6.31.3।।

naḥ for us, ayam this is, mantrakālaḥ time to think, samprāptaḥ has come iti thus, mantriṇaḥ with ministers, rākṣasāḥ Rakshasas, sarvē all, susamāhitāḥ all of them assembled, śīghram immediately, ayāntu let them be called.

"The time has come for us to call for all the rakshasas and ministers immediately and assemble (said Ravana)."

tasyatadvacanaṅśrutvāmantriṇō.bhyāgaman drutam .

tatassamantrayāmāsarākṣasaissacivaissaha ।।6.31.4।।

tasya his, tat that, śāsanam order, śrutvā having hard, mantriṇaḥ ministers, druvam instantly, abhyāgaman reached, tataḥ then, saḥ he, rākṣasaiḥ to Rakshasa, sacivaiḥ ministers saha along with, mantrayāmāsa started to think.

Having been ordered (by Ravana) that way, the ministers along with Rakshasas instantly reached and he started to think with them.

mantrayitvāsadurdharṣaḥkṣamaṅyatsamanantaram .

visarjayitvāsacivānpravivēśasvamālayam ।।6.31.5।।

durdarṣaḥ unassailable, anantaram after that, yat that which, kṣamam proper, tat that, mantrayitvā thinking over, sacivān minister, visarjayitvā dispensed away, svam his own, ālayam residence, pravivēśa entered.

Thereafter, thinking about what is appropriate to do, unassailable Ravana dispensed his ministers and entered his own residence.

tatōrākṣasamāhūyavidyujjihvaṅmahābalam .

māyāvidaṅmahāmāyaḥprāviśadyatramaithilī ।।6.31.6।।

tataḥ then, mahāmāyaḥ extraordinary skills, mahābalam mighty, māyāvidam learned in conjuring tricks, vidyujjihvam Vidyujihvam, ādāya sent for, maithilī Mythili, yatra there, prāviśat went.

Then Ravana of extraordinary skills sent for Vidyujihvam, a learned one in conjuring tricks and went from there to Mythili.

vidyujjihvaṅcamāyājñamabravīdrākṣasādhipaḥ .

mōhayiṣyāvahēsītāṅmāyayājanakātmajām ।।6.31.7।।

rākṣasādhipaḥ Rakshasa king, māyājñām one who knows conjuring ricks, vidyujjihvam Vidyujihvam, abravīt ca and said, janakātmajām Janaka's daughter, sītām Sita, māyayā by making trick, mōhayiṣyānahē will cheat.

Rakshasa king Ravana said to Vidyujihvam who knew conjuring tricks, "We will cheat Sita, daughter of Janaka by a trick."

śirōmāyāmayaṅgṛhyarāghavasyaniśācara: .

tvaṅmāṅsamutiṣṭhasvamahaccasaśaraṅdhanuḥ ।।6.31.8।।

niśācara night ranger, rāghavasya Raghava's, māyāmayam an illusory, śiraḥ head, saśaram an arrow, mahāt great, dhanuḥca and bow also, gṛhya seizing, mām to me, tvam you, samupatiṣṭhasva come and stand.

"O Night ranger! You make an illusory head of Raghava and come and stand at me holding an arrow with great bow."

ēvamuktastathētyāhavidyujjihvōniśācaraḥ .

darśayāmāsatāṅmāyāṅsuprayuktāṅsarāvaṇē ।।6.31.9।।

tasyatuṣṭō.bhavadrājāpradadaucavibhūṣaṇam .

ēvam in that way, uktaḥ having spoken, niśācaraḥ night ranger, vidyujjihvaḥ Vidyujihvam, tathēti be it so, āha striking, suprayuktām dexterously produced, tāṅmāyām by the tricker, saḥ that, rāvaṇē to Ravana, darśayāmāsa showed, rājā king, tasya his, tuṣṭaḥ pleased, ābhavat vibhūṣaṇam beautiful ornament, pradadēca presented.

When the Rakshasa king had spoken that way to Vidyujihvam, he said, "Be it so." Pleased with the dexterous production of Vidyujihvam, Ravana presented to him a beautiful ornament.

aśōkavanikāyāṅtusītādarśanalālasaḥ .

vairṛtānāmadhipatissaṅvivēśamahābalaḥ ।।6.31.10।।

mahābalaḥ mighty strong, nairṛtānām adhipatiḥ Rakshasa king, sītādarśanalālasaḥ eager to have a look at Sita, āśōkavanikāyām to the Asoka grove, saṅvivēśa entered.

Eager to have a look at Sita, the mighty king of Rakshasas entered Asoka grove.

tatōdīnāmadainyārhāṅdadarśadhanadānujaḥ ।।6.31.11।।

adhōmukhīṅśōkaparāmupaviṣṭāṅmahītalē .

bhartāramēvadhyāyantīmaśōkavavikāṅgatām ।।6.31.12।।

tataḥ there upon, dhanadānujaḥ brother of Kubera, dīnām sad, adainyārhām who did not deserve that piteous condition, athōmukhīm bending down her head, śōkaparām filled with sorrow, aśōkavanikām in the Asoka grove, gatām reduced to that state, mahītalē on the ground, upaviṣṭām seated, bhartāramēva only about her husband, dhyāyantīm contemplating, dadarśa saw.

Thereafter, the younger brother of Kubera (Ravana) saw sad Sita, who did not deserve that piteous condition, who had been reduced to sorrowful state, seated on the ground in Asoka grove, with her head bent down filled with sorrow contemplating on her husband alone.

upāsyamānāṅghōrābhīrākṣasībhiritastataḥ .

upasṛtyatatassītāṅpraharṣaṅnāmakīrtayan ।।6.31.13।।

idaṅcavacanaṅdhṛṣṭamuvācajanakātmajām .

tataḥ then, aritastataḥ guarded by enemies, ghōrābhiḥ dreadful, rākṣasībhiḥ Rakshasas also, upāsyamānām closely surrounded by, sītām while Sita, upasṛtya went near, praharṣaṅnāma happy, kīrtayan praising, janakātmajām Sita, daughter of Janaka, dhṛṣṭam saw, idaṅvacanam these words, uvāca addressed.

While she was guarded by dreadful Rakshasa women surrounding her closely, Ravana went near her happily and saw her. He addressed Sita praising her.

sāntvyamānāmayābhadrēyamupāśrityavalgasē .

kharahantāsatēbhartārāghavassamarēhataḥ ।।6.31.14।।

bhadrē O auspicious one, mayā my, sāntvyamānā however much requested, yam whom, upāśritya seeking, vimanyasē you did not care for me, saḥ that, tēbhartā your husband, kharahantā who slayed Khara, rāghavaḥ Raghava, samarē in war, hataḥ killed.

"O Auspicious one! However, much I have requested you, you did not care for me seeking your husband. Raghava, who killed Khara, has been killed in war."

chinnaṅtēsarvatōmūlaṅdarpastēnihatōmayā .

vyasanēnātmanassītē mamabhāryābhaviṣyasi ।।6.31.15।।

sītē O Sita, sarvataḥ all, mayā my me, mūlam roots, chinnam crushed, darpataḥ vanity, vihataḥ give up, ātmanaḥ your own, vyasanēna by your own self will, mama my, bhāryā wife, bhaviṣyasi will be.

"O Sita! All your roots have been crushed by me. Give up your vanity. By your own accord, you become my wife."

visṛjēmāṅmatiṅmūḍhē: kiṅmṛtēnakariṣyasi .

bhavasvabhadrē: bhāryāṇāṅsarvēsāmīśvarīmama ।।6.31.16।।

mūḍhē O foolish one!, ētām these, matim from mind, visṛja give up, mṛtēna with a deceased, kiṅkariṣyasi What will you do, bhadrē O auspicious one, mama my, sarvāsām all, bhāryāṇam of all wives, īśvarī queen, bhava you be.

"O Foolish one! Give up these thoughts from your mind. What will you do with your deceased husband? O auspicious one! You are the queen of all my wives."

alpapuṇyē: nivṛttārthē: mūḍhē: paṇḍitamānini: .

śṛṇubhartṛvadhaṅsītē: ghōraṅvṛtravadhaṅyathā ।।6.31.17।।

alpapuṇyē of less merit, nivṛttārthē one who has given up all worldly acts, mūḍhē stupid one, paṇḍitamānini one who pretends as if she knows everything, sītē O Sita, vṛtravadhaṅyathā just as the slaying of Vrthasura, ghōram terrific, bhartṛvadham husband 's, śṛṇu hear.

"O woman of less merit! You are one who has given up all worldly actions. Stupid one! You pretend as if you know everything. O Sita! Hear about your husband 's death like that of Vrthasura."

samāyātassamudrāntaṅmāṅhantuṅkilarāghavaḥ .

vānarēndrapraṇītēnabalēnamahatāvṛtaḥ ।।6.31.18।।

rāghavaḥ Raghava, vānarēndrapraṇītēna led by Vanara king, mahatā huge, balēna army force, vṛtaḥ surrounded, mām me, hantum to kill, samudrāntam to the shore of the sea, samāyātaḥkila indeed has collected.

"Raghava led by the huge army force of the Vanara king has arrived on the seashore."

sanniviṣṭassamudrasyapīḍyatīramathōttaram .

balēnamahatārāmōvrajatyastaṅdivākarē ।।6.31.19।।

atha and then, divākarē when Sun, astam sets, vrajatipati moved towards west, rāmaḥ Rama, mahatā huge, balēna strength of army, samudrasya ocean's, uttaram northern, tīram shore, pīḍya to strike, sanniviṣṭaḥ encamped.

And when the Sun moved towards the west, Rama encamped on the northern shore of the sea with a huge army to strike.

athādhvanipariśrāntamardharātrēsthitaṅbalam .

sukhasuptaṅsamāsādyacāritraṅprathamaṅcaraiḥ ।।6.31.20।।

atha and then, adhvani having walked all the way, pariśrāntam taking rest, ardharātrē midnight, sukhasuptam slept well, sthitam stayed, balam army, prathamam prime, samāsādya sending, caraiḥ spies, cāritraṅ all about them.

After having walked all the way they slept well and when they were sleeping at midnight, we found out all about them by sending prime spies.

tatprahastapraṇītēnabalēnamahatāmama .

balamasyahataṅrātrauyatrarāmassalakṣmaṇaḥ ।।6.31.21।।

salakṣmaṇaḥ that Lakshmana, rāmaḥ Rama, yatra where in, prahastapraṇītēna led by Prahastha, mahatā great, mamabalēna by my army, asya their, balam powerful, rātrau in the night, hatam slayed.

"There in that camp Lakshmana and Rama are killed by my powerful army led by Prahastha at night."

paṭṭasānparighāṅścakrāndaṇḍānmahāyaśān .

bāṇajālāniśūlānibhāsvarānkūṭamudgarān ।।6.31.22।।

yaṣṭīścatōmarān śaktīścakrāṇimusalānica .

udyamyōdyamyarakṣōbhirvānarēṣunipātitāṅ ।।6.31.23।।

paṭṭaśān spears, parighān iron bars, cakrān javelins, daṇḍān staffs, mahāyaśān huge ones, bāṇajālāni sparkling maces, śūlāni tridents, bhāsvarān shining, kūṭamudgarān iron mallets, yaṣṭīśca and clubs, tōmarān lances, śaktī strong, musalānica and Musalas, udyamyaudyamya lifting again and again, rakṣōbhiḥ Rakshasas, vānarēṣu at Vanaras, nipātitāḥ hurled.

Again, and again lifting spears, iron bars, javelins, huge staffs, sparkling maces, shining iron mallets and clubs, lances and strong Musalas, the Rakshasas hurled at Vanaras.

athasuptasyarāmasyaprahastēnapramāthinā .

asaktaṅkṛtahastēnaśiraśchinnaṅmahāsinā ।।6.31.24।।

atha thereafter, pramāthinā one who is capable of striking, kṛtahastēna skilled, prahastēna by Prahastha, mahāsinā big sword, suptasya sleeping, ramasya Rama's, śiraḥ head, asaktaṅ without any feeling of attachment, chinnam severed.

"There after the head of Rama, who was sleeping, was severed by Prahastha, skilled at striking, with a big sword without any feeling of attachment."

vibhīṣaṇassamutpatyanigṛhītōyadṛcchayā .

diśaḥpravrājitassarvaissarlakṣmaṇaḥplavagaissahā ।।6.31.25।।

yadṛcchayā by chance, vibhīṣaṇaḥ Vibheeshana, samutpatya when rose up, nigṛhītaḥ caught hold, lakṣmaṇaḥ Lakshmana, plavagaiḥsaha along with Vanaras, diśam directions, pravrājitaḥ fled.

"When Vibheeshana rose up he was caught by chance. Lakshmana and Vanaras fled in all directions."

sugrīvōgrīnayāsītēbhagnayāplavagādhipaḥ .

nirastahanukaśśētēhanumānrākṣasairhataḥ ।।6.31.26।।

sītē O Sita!, plavagādhipaḥ Vanara Lord, sugrīvaḥ Sugriva, bhagnayā broken, grīnayā neck, hanumān Hanuman, rākṣasaiḥ by Rakshasas, nirastahanukaḥ chin broken, hataḥ killed, śētē lies fallen down.

"O Sita! Vanara Lord Sugriva with his neck broken, Hanuman with chin broken were killed by Rakshasas and are lying down fallen on the ground."

jāmbavānathajānubhyāmutpatannihatōyudhi .

paṭṭasairbahubhiśchinnōnikṛttaḥpādapōyathā ।।6.31.27।।

atha and, jānubhyām on the knees, utpatan while rising up, jāmbavān Jambavan, yudhi in combat, nihātaḥ fallen down, bahubhiḥ many, paṭṭasai: iron bars, chinnaḥ struck, pādapōyathā like a tree, chinnaḥ broken down.

And while Jambavan was rising on his knees, he was struck by many iron bars in comb at and had fallen down like a tree.

maindaścadvividaścōbhaunihatauvānararṣabhau ।।6.31.28।।

niśśvasantaurudantaucarudhirēṇasamukṣitau .

asināvyāyatauchinnaumadhyēhyariniṣūdanau ।।6.31.29।।

vyāyatau of huge body, ariniṣūdanau slayers of enemies, maindaśca Mainda, dvividaśca and Dwivida, ubhau both, vānararṣabhau bulls among Vanaras, niśśasantau breathing hard, rudantau roaring, rudhirēṇa in blood, samukṣitau bathing, asinā sword, madhyē in the midst, chinnau cut.

"Mainda and Dwivida of huge bodies, who are slayers of enemies, the bulls among Vanaras are breathing hard, and bathed in blood roaring, having been cutin the middle of their body."

anutiṣṭhatimēdinyāṅpanasaḥpanasōyathā ।।6.31.30।।

nārācairbahubhiścinnaśśētēdaryāṅdarīmukhaḥ .

kumudastumahātējāniṣkūjansāyakai: kṛtaḥ ।।6.31.31।।

panasōyathā like jackfruit, panasaḥ Panasa, mēdinyām on the earth, anutiṣṭhati lying on the ground, darīmukhaḥ Darimukha, bahubhiḥ many, nārācaiḥ arrows, chinnaḥ shattered, daryām on the ground, śētē lying down, niṣkūjan torn off, mahātējāḥ brilliant, kumudastu Kumuda too, sāyakaiḥ silently, kṛtaḥ lying.

"Panasa is lying down on earth like jackfruit. Darimukha is lying down shattered by many arrows. Brilliant Kumuda too is torn off and silently lying down."

aṅgadōbahubhiśchinnaśśarairāsādyarākṣasaiḥ .

patitōrudhirōdgārīkṣitaunipatitāṅgadaḥ ।।6.31.32।।

patitaḥ fallen down, rudhirōdgārī throwing up blood, kṣitau destroyed, nipatitāṅgadaḥ shoulder straps dropped down, aṅgadaḥ Angada, rākṣasaiḥ by Rakshasas, āsādya reaching towards him, bahubhiḥ many, śaraiḥ arrows, chinnaḥ chopped.

"By the many arrows of Rakshasas reaching towards Angada, he lies down chopped up and destroyed, with his armlets dropped down throwing up blood."

harayōmathitānāgairathajātaistathāparē .

śayitāmṛditāścāśvairyāyuvēgairivāmbudāḥ ।।6.31.33।।

tatra there, śayitā: sleeping ones, aparē some, harayaḥ Vanaras, nāgaiḥ by elephants, tathā so also, rathajātaiḥ by mass of clouds, vāyuvēgaiḥ by the speed of wind, ambudāḥiva like the clouds, mṛditāḥ are dead.

"There, some of the sleeping Vanaras were crushed by elephants, so also, just as by the speed of wind the clouds are crushed the Vanaras are crushed to death."

prahṛtāścaparētrastāhasyamānājaghanyataḥ .

abhidrutāsturakṣōbhissiṅhairivamahādvipāḥ ।।6.31.34।।

parē some, jaghanyataḥ followed behind, hanyamānāḥ destroying, siṅhaiḥ lions, mahādvipā: iva like huge elephants, rakṣōbhiḥ like Rakshasas, abhidrutāḥ severely afflicted, trastāḥ frightened, prahṛtāḥ struck.

"Some were followed behind as they were speeding like lions and mighty elephants afflicted and frightened, struck by Rakshasas."

sāgarēpatitāḥkēcitkēcigdaganamāśritāḥ .

ṛkṣāvṛkṣānupārūḍhāvānarīṅvṛttimāśritāḥ ।।6.31.35।।

kēcit a few, sāgarē sea, patitāḥ dived in, kēcit some, gaganam sky, āśritāḥ sought refuge, ṛkṣāḥ Bears, vānaraiḥ Vanaras, vṛttimāśritāḥ resorting to their ways, vṛkṣān trees, upārūḍhāḥ climbed.

"While a few Vanaras dived into the sea, some took refuge in the sky. Resorting to their natural way the Bears climbed the trees."

sāgarasyacatīrēṣuśailēṣucavanēṣuca .

piṅgalāstēvirūpākṣairbahubhirbahavōhatāḥ ।।6.31.36।।

tē they, bahavaḥ many, piṅgalāḥ those with yellowish brown eyes (Vanaras), sāgarasya in the ocean, tīrēṣu on the shore, śailēṣuca on mountains, vanēṣuca in woods, virūpākṣaiḥ with fierce eyes, bahubhiḥ many, rākṣasaiḥ by Rakshasas, hatāḥ were killed.

"Many fierce-eyed Rakshasas killed several Vanaras on the shore of the ocean, in the mountains and woods."

ēvaṅtavahatōbhartāsasainyōmamasēnayā .

kṣatajārdraṅrajōdhvastamidaṅcasyāhṛtaṅśiraḥ ।।6.31.37।।

ēvam in that manner, sasainyaḥ the army, tana your, bhartā husband, sēnayā army, hataḥ were killed, asya his, kṣathajārdram decayed and drenched in blood, rajōdhvastam covered with dust particles, idam this, śiraḥ head, ahṛtam brought.

"In that way the army of your husband has been killed by Rakshasa army and his decayed head drenched in blood covered with dust has been brought."

tataḥparamadurdharṣōrāvaṇōrākṣasēśvaraḥ .

sītāyāmupaśantyāṅrākṣasīmidamabravīt ।।6.31.38।।

tataḥ then, paramadurdharṣaḥ highly unassailable, rākṣasēśvara king of Rakshasas, rāvaṇa Ravana, sītāyām while Sita, uśṛṇvatyām to the hearing of, rākṣasīm Rakshasas, idam these words, abravīt spoke.

Then Ravana, the highly unassailable king of Rakshasas spoke these words to the hearing of Sita.

rākṣasaṅkrūrakarmāṇaṅvidyujjihvaṅtvamānaya .

yēnatadrāghavaśirassaṅgrāmātsvayamāhṛtam ।।6.31.39।।

yēna he who, tat that, rāghavaśiraḥ Rama's head, saṅgrāmāt from the battlefield, svayam the one, āhṛtam who brought, krūrakarmāṇam one of cruel deeds, rākṣasam Rakshasa, vidyujjihvam Vidyujihvam, tvamānayaḥ bring along.

"Bring that Rakshasa, Vidyujihvam of cruel deeds who brought Rama's head from the battlefield."

vidyujjihvastatōgṛhyaśirastatsaśarāsanam .

praṇāmaṅśirasākṛtvārāvaṇasyāgratasthitaḥ ।।6.31.40।।

tataḥ then, vidyajjihvaḥ Vidyujihvam, saśarāsanam along with bow, tat śiraḥ that head, gṛhya holding, śirasā by his head, praṇāmam bowing down in salutation, kṛtvā having done rāvaṇasya Ravana 's, agrataḥ in front, sthitaḥ stood.

Then holding the head along with the bow, Vidyujihvam bowed his head down in salutation and stood in front of Ravana.

tamabravīttatōrājārāvaṇōrākṣasaṅsthitam .

vidyujjihvaṅmahājihvaṅsamīpaparivartinam ।।6.31.41।।

tataḥ then, rāja king, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, mahājihvām one with extended tongue, samīpaparivartinam who had come close, sthitam stood, rākṣasam Rakshasa, taṅvidyujjihvaṅ to Vidyujihvam, abravīt spoke.

Then the king, Ravana spoke to Vidyujihvam, the Rakshasa with extended tongue, who stood close by.

agrataḥkurusītāyāśśīghraṅdāśaradhēśaśiraḥ .

avasthāṅpaścimāṅbhartuḥkṛpaṇāsādhupaśyatu ।।6.31.42।।

dāśarathēḥ Dasaratha's son's, śiraḥ head, śīghram at once, sītāyāḥ Sita's, agrataḥ before, kuru place it, kṛpaṇā piteous woman, bhartuḥ to husband, paścimām at the end, avasthām ultimate state, sādhu attained, paśyatu let her see.

At once place the head of Dasaratha's son before that piteous woman. Let her see the ultimate status attained by her husband at the end (said Ravana).

ēvamuktaṅtutadrakṣaśaśirastatpriyadarśanam .

upanikṣipyasītāyāḥkṣipramantaradhīyata ।।6.31.43।।

ēvam in that way, uktam having spoken, tat rakṣaḥ that Rakshasa, priyadarśanam pleasing to see, tat that, śiraḥ head, sītāyāḥ to Sita, upanikṣipya by the side of, kṣīpram immediately, antaradhīyata went away.

Having spoken immediately placed the head of Rama that was pleasing to see, by the side of Sita and went away.

rāvaṇaścāpicikṣēpabhasvaraṅkārmukaṅmahat .

triṣulōkēṣuvikhyātaṅsītāmidamuvācaha ।।6.31.44।।

rāvaṇaścāpi even Ravana, sītā Sita, idam thus, uvācaha addressed, triṣulōkēṣu in the three worlds, vikhyātam famous, iti this, bhāsvaram bright, mahat great, kārmukam bow, cikṣēpa casting down.

Thus addressed Ravana casting down the bright great bow that is famous in the three worlds.

idaṅtutavarāmasyakārmukaṅjyāsamāyutam .

ihaprahastēnānītaṅhatvātaṅniśimānuṣam ।।6.31.45।।

idam this, tavarāmasya your Rama's, jyāsamāvṛtama duly strung, tat that, kārmukam bow, niśi in the night, tam him, mānuṣam he human being, hatvā after killing, iha here, prahastēna by Prahastha, anītam has brought.

"Prahastha has brought this bow duly tied with the string after killing human Rama in the night."

savidyujjihvēnasahaivatacchirōdhanuścabhūmauvinikīryarāvaṇaḥ .

vidēharājasyasutāṅyaśasvinīṅtatō.bravīttāṅbhavamēvaśānugā ।।6.31.46।।

Then Ravana placing that head brought by Vidyujihvam and the famous bow on the ground said to the daughter of the king of Videha, "Now you may submit to my will."
