[Garuda appears on the scene and relieves Rama and Lakshmana from the bondage.]

athōvācamahātējāharirājōmahābalaḥ .

kimiyaṅvyathitāsēnāmūḍhavātēvanaurjalē ।।6.50.1।।


atha and now, mahātējāḥ extremely brilliant, mahābalaḥ mighty, harirājaḥ king of monkeys, vāca words, iyaṅsēnā the army, jalē by water, mūḍhavātēva tossed by wind, nauḥiva like the boat, kim why, vyathitā worrying.

Extremely brilliant and mighty Sugriva looking at the army of Vanaras said, "Why are you worried like a boat tossed by wind in water?"
sugrīvasyavacaśśrutvāvāliputrō.ṅgadō.bravīt .

natvaṅpaśyasirāmaṅcalakṣmaṇaṅcamahāratham ।।6.50.2।।

śarajālacitauvīrāvubhaudaśarathātmajau .

śaratalpēmahātmānauśayānaurudhirōkṣitau ।।6.50.3।।


sugrīvasya Sugriva's, vacaḥ words, śrutvā hearing, vāliputraḥ Vali's son, aṅgadaḥ Angada, abravīt spoke, śarajālacitau network of arrows, rudhirōkṣitau bathed in blood, śaratalpē on a bed of arrows, śayānau lying, mahātmānau great souls, daśarathātmajau Dasaratha's sons, rāmam Rama, mahāratham chariot warrior, lakṣmaṇaṅca Lakshmana also, tvam you, napaśyasi do you not see.

On hearing Sugriva's question, Angada the son of Vali said, "Did you not see Dasaratha's sons Rama and chariot warrior Lakshmana, the great souls lying on a bed of arrows bathed in blood?"
athābravīdvānarēndrassugrīvaḥputramaṅgadam .

nānimittamidaṅmanyēbhavitavyaṅbhayēnatu ।।6.50.4।।


atha now, vānarēndra Vanara king, sugrīvaḥ Sugriva, putram son, aṅgadam Angada, abravīt said, idam this, animittam without any reason, namanyē not think, bhayēna out of fear, bhavitavyam some reason ahead.

Then Vanara king Sugriva looking at Angada said, "I do not think that the Vanaras running like this is not without any cause. Maybe out of fear of some reason ahead."
viṣaṇṇavadanāhyētētyaktapraharaṇādiśaḥ .

prapalāyantiharayastrāsādutphullalōcanāḥ ।।6.50.5।।


atra in this place, ētē their, harayaḥ Vanaras, trāsāt distressed, utphullalōcanāḥ downcast their eyes, tyaktapraharaṇāḥ abandoning arms, viṣaṇṇavadanāḥ sad face, diśaḥ directions, prapalāyanti fleeing.

"Here, the distressed Vanaras with sad faces, their eyes downcast, are fleeing in all directions abandoning their arms."
anyōnyasyanalajjantēnirīkṣantipṛṣṭhataḥ .

viprakarṣanticānyōnyaṅpatitaṅlaṅghayantica ।।6.50.6।।


anyōnyasya one to the other, nalajjantē not shy to see others, pṛṣṭhataḥ the other side, nanirīkṣanti not waiting to look back at others, anyōnyam one another, viprakarṣanti distancing, patitam fallen, laṅghayantica and fleeing.

"Without waiting to look back at others, not shy to see one another, the Vanaras are distancing themselves from those fallen and are seen fleeing."
ētasminnantarēvīrōgadāpāṇirvibhīṣaṇaḥ .

sugrīvaṅvardhayāmāsarāghavaṅcaniraikṣata ।।6.50.7।।


ētasmin in the mean, antarē while, gadāpāṇiḥ holding mace, vīraḥ hero, vibhīṣaṇaḥ Vibheeshana, sugrīvam Sugriva, vibhīṣaṇaṅca to Vibheeshana, rāghavaṅca Raghava, niraikṣata seeing, vardhayāmāsa cheered with victory.

In the meantime, heroic Vibheeshana holding mace came to Sugriva and Rama and cheered with victory.
vibhīṣaṇaṅcasugrīvōdṛṣṭavāvānarabhīṣaṇam .

ṛkṣarājaṅmahātmānaṅsamīpasthamuvācaha ।।6.50.8।।


sugrīvaḥ Sugriva, vibhīṣaṇam Vibheeshana, vānarabhīṣaṇam Vanaras beholding Vibheeshana, dṛṣṭavā beholding, samīpastham stood near, mahātmānam great, ṛkṣarājam king of Bears, Jambavan, uvācaha spoke.

Beholding Vibheeshana, the Vanaras fled, said Sugriva to the great Jambavan who stood near him.
vibhīṣaṇō.yaṅsamprāptōyaṅdṛṣṭavāvānararṣabhāḥ .

vidravantiparitatrasarāvaṇātmajaśaṅkayā ।।6.50.9।।


ayam this, vibhīṣaṇaḥ Vibheeshana, samprāptaḥ having come here, yam , dṛṣṭavā beholding, vānararṣabhāḥ foremost Vanaras, rāvaṇātmaśaṅkāyā thinking him to be Ravana's son, vidravanti suspecting, paritrasta fleeing.

"Vibheeshana has come here. Beholding him the foremost of the Vanaras fleeing suspecting him to be the son of Ravana."
śīghramētān susantrastānbahudhāvipradhāvitān .

paryavasthāpayākhyāhivibhīṣaṇamupasthitam ।।6.50.10।।


susantrastān fearing, bahudhā many directions, vipradhāvitān fleeing, ētān all of them, śīghram quickly, paryavasthā running, upasthitam has come here, vibhīṣaṇam Vibheeshana, ākhyāhi call them.

"Call them back who are running in different directions quickly. Tell them Vibheeshana has come here."
sugrīvēṇaivamuktastujāmbavānṛkṣapārthivaḥ .

vānarānsāntvayāmāsasannirudhyapradhānataḥ ।।6.50.11।।


sugrīvēṇa Sugriva, ēvam in that way, uktaḥ having said, ṛkṣapārthivaḥ king of Bears, jāmbavān Jambavan, pradhānataḥ chief, vānarān of Vanaras, nirudhya restored, sāntvayāmāsa confidence.

Sugriva having spoken in that way, the king of Bears, Jambavan restored the confidence of Vanaras.
tēnivṛttāḥpunaḥsarvēvānarāstyaktasambhramāḥ .

ṛkṣarājavacaśśrutvātaṅcadṛṣṭavāvibhīṣaṇam ।।6.50.12।।


sarvē all, tēvānarāḥ the Vanaras, ṛkṣarājavacaḥ Jambavan's words, śrutvā having heard, tam their, vibhīṣaṇam Vibheeshana, dṛṣṭavā beholding, tyaktasambhramāḥ finally shed their fear, punaḥ again, vivṛttāḥ returned.

Having heard Jambavan, all the Vanaras finally shed their fear and returned to see Vibheeshana.
vibhīṣaṇasturāmasyadṛṣṭavāgātraṅśaraiścitam .

lakṣmaṇasyacadharmātmābabhūvavyathitastadā ।।6.50.13।।


dharmātmā righteous, vibhīṣaṇastu Vibheeshana also, śaraiḥ arrows, citam mind, rāmasya Rama's, gātram limbs, lakṣmaṇasyaca and Lakshmana's, dṛṣṭavā observing, tadā then, vyathitaḥ grievous, babhūva remained.

On seeing the body of Rama and Lakshmana fully covered by arrows, Vibheeshana also became piteous and sad.
jalaklinnēnahastēnatayōrnētrēpramṛjyaca .

śōkasampīḍitamanārurōdavilalāpaca ।।6.50.14।।


jalaklinnēna with water, hastēna in hand, tayōḥ their, nētrē eyes, pramṛjyaca cleaned, śōkasampīḍitamanāḥ tormented with pain, rurōda aloud, vilalāpaca cried.

Vibheeshana, wetting his hands with water cleaned the eyes of Rama and Lakshmana. Tormented with pain he cried aloud.
imautausattvasampannauvikrāntaupriyasamyugau .

imāmavasthāṅgamitaurākṣasaiḥkūṭayōdhibhiḥ ।।6.50.15।।


sattvasampannau endowed with good nature, vikrāntau powerful, priyasamyugau fond of combat, tau both, imau thus, kūṭayōdhibhiḥ deceitful, rākṣasaiḥ Rakshasas, imām like this, avasthām predicament, gamitau reduced to.

"Both the princess, who are endowed with good nature, and power are fond of combat. The Rakshasas have reduced them to this state by their deceitful ways."
bhrātuḥputrēṇamētēnaduṣputrēṇadurātmanā .

rākṣasyājihmayābudhyācālitāvṛjuvikramau ।।6.50.16।।


ṛjuvikramau guileless in prowess, duṣputrēṇa stupid son, durātmanā evil minded, ētēna by him, bhrātṛputrēṇa brother's son, rākṣasyā Rakshasa's, jihmayā crooked, budhyā mind, cālitā cheated.

"The princess who were guileless in their prowess were cheated by my evil minded and stupid son of my brother by his crooked thinking and cheating."
śarairimāvalaṅviddhaurudhirēṇasamukṣitau .

vasudhāyāmimausuptaudṛśyētēśalyakāviva ।।6.50.17।।


śaraiḥ arrows, alam body, viddhau fully, rudhirēṇa with blood, samukṣitau pierced with, vasudhāyām on the ground, suptau sleeping, imau these two (Rama and Lakshmana), śalyakāviva like a porcupine, dṛśyētē appears.

"Pierced with arrows, fully covered with blood, the bodies of the two princes appear like porcupines sleeping on the ground."
yayōrvīryamupāśrityapratiṣṭhākāṅkṣitāmayā .

tāvubhaudēhanāśāyaprasuptaupuruṣarṣabhau ।।6.50.18।।


mayā by me, yayōḥ whose, vīryam valour, āśritya sought refuge, pratiṣṭhā of great fame, kāṅkṣitā limbs broken, tā these, ubhau both, puruṣarṣabhau bull among men, dēhanāśāya wounded all over the body, prasuptau lying asleep.

"These two bulls among men of great valour and fame whose refuge was sought by me are lying asleep wounded all over and limbs broken."
jīvannadyavipannō.sminaṣṭarājyamanōrathaḥ .

prāptapratijñaścaripuḥsakāmōrāvaṇaḥkṛtaḥ ।।6.50.19।।


naṣṭarājyamanōrathaḥ having lost kingdom, jīvannadyaadya life ambition, vipannaḥ frustrated, asmi I am, ripuḥ enemy, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, prāptapratijñaḥ having succeeded in his vow, sakāmaśca this deed, kṛtaḥ did.

"Having lost my life ambition for the kingdom, frustrated I am. My enemy Ravana, having succeeded in his vow, did this deed."
ēvaṅvilapamānaṅtaṅpariṣvajyavibhīṣaṇam .

sugrīvaḥsattvasampannōharirājō.bravīdidam ।।6.50.20।।


ēvam in that way, vilapamānam lamenting in despair, taṅvibhīṣaṇam that Vibheeshana, pariṣvajya embracing, sattvasampannaḥ endowed with good qualities, harirājaḥ king of monkeys, sugrīvaḥ Sugriva, idam thus, abravīt spoke.

To Vibheeshana who was lamenting in that way, Sugriva, who was endowed with good qualities embraced him and spoke.
rājyaṅprāpsyasidharmajña laṅkāyāṅnātrasaṅśayaḥ .

rāvaṇassahaputrēṇasvakāmaṅnēhalapsyatē ।।6.50.21।।


dharmajña righteous, laṅkāyām in Lanka, rājyam kingdom, prāpsyasi having got, atra and now, saṅśayaḥ doubt, na no, rāvaṇaḥ Ravana, sahaputrēṇa with his sons, svakāmam of their desire, iha now, nalapsyatē not attain.

"O righteous one! there is no doubt that you will attain the kingdom of Lanka. Ravana and his sons will not attain what they desire."
narujāpīḍitāvētāvubhaurāghavalakṣmaṇau .

tyaktvāmōhaṅvadhiṣyētēsagaṇaṅrāvaṇaṅraṇē ।।6.50.22।।


ētau these, ubhau both, rāghavalakṣmaṇau Raghava and Lakshmana, rujā wounded, pīḍitau pained, na not, mōham unconscious state tyaktvā shaken off, raṇē in war, sagaṇam his own army, rāvaṇam Ravana, vadhiṣyētē killed.

"Both these heroes Raghava and Lakshmana wounded and pained having shaken off from their unconscious state will kill Ravana and his army in war."
tamēvaṅsāntvayitvātusamāśvāsyacarākṣasam .

suṣēṇaṅśvaśuraṅpārśvēsugrīvastamuvācaha ।।6.50.23।।


sugrīvaḥ Sugriva, taṅrākṣasam that Rakshasa, ēvam in that manner, sāntvayitvā consoling, samāśvāsya pacifying, pārśvē at, śvaśuram uncle, taṅsuṣēṇam Sushena, uvāca spoke.

Thus, consoling and pacifying, the Rakshasa, Vibheeshana in that manner, Sugriva turned to his uncle Sushena and spoke.
sahaśūrairharigaṇairlabdhasaṅjñāvarindamau .

gacchatvaṅbhrātaraṅgṛhyakiṣkindhāṅrāmalakṣmaṇau ।।6.50.24।।


śūraiḥ heroes harigaṇaiḥ monkey army, tvam them, labdasaṅjñau on regaining consciousness, arindamau tamers of their enemies, bhrātarau brothers, rāmalakṣmaṇau Rama and Lakshmana, gṛhya taking, kiṣkindhām to Kishkinda, gaccha proceed.

"On regaining consciousness, take the brothers Rama and Lakshmana, the tamers of enemies to Kishkinda accompanied by the heroic monkey army."
ahaṅturāvaṇaṅhatvāsaputraṅsahabāndhavam .

maithilīmānayiṣyāmiśakrōnaṣṭāmivaśriyam ।।6.50.25।।


ahaṅtu I also, saputram his sons, sahabāndavam with the kin, rāvaṇam Ravana, hatvā having killed, śakraḥ Indra, naṣṭām loss, śriyamiva prosperity, maithilīm Mythili also, ānayiṣyāmi will bring.

"On killing Ravana and his sons along with his kin, I will on my part also bring Mythili just as Indra recovered his prosperity."
śrutvaitadvānarēndrasyasuṣēṇōvākyamabravīt .

daivāsuraṅmahadyuddhamanubhūtaṅsudāruṇam ।।6.50.26।।


vānarēndrasya Vanara Lord, ētat vākyam these words, śrutvā hearing, suṣēṇaḥ Sushena, abravīt spoke, daivāsuram Devatas and Asuras, sudāruṇam fierce, mahat great, yuddham in war, anubhūtam experienced.

Hearing the words of Vanara Lord, Sushena spoke about the fierce and great war that he had experienced between Devas and asuras.
tadāsmadānavāśarasamsparśakōvidāḥ .

nijaghnuśśastraviduṣaścādayantōmuhurmuhuḥ ।।6.50.27।।


tadā then, śarasamsparśakōvidāḥ adept in using arms, dānavāḥ Rakshasa, śastraviduṣaḥ learned in using arms, dēvān Devatas, muhurmuhuḥ again and again, chādayantaḥ concealing by tricks, nijaghnuḥ went about agitated.

"Then the Rakshasas adept in using arms went about agitating concealing themselves, attacking Devatas who were learned in using arms."
tānārtānnaṣṭasaṅjñāṅścagatāsūṅścabṛhaspatiḥ .

vidyābhirmantrayuktābhirōṣadhībhiścikitsati ।।6.50.28।।


bṛhaspatiḥ Brhaspati the sage, ārtān restored the affected, naṣṭasaṅjñān wounded and life less, gatāsūṅśca lost consciousness, tān them, mantrayuktābhiḥ by means of mantras, vidyābhiḥ recitation of prayers, rōṣadhībhiḥ herbs, cikitsati treatment.

"Brhaspati, the priest restored the wounded and lifeless, unconscious by means of reciting mantras, prayers and treatment by herbs."
tānyauṣadhānyānayituṅkṣīrōdaṅyāntusāgaram .

javēnavānarāḥśīghraṅsampātipanasādayaḥ ।।6.50.29।।


auṣadhāni herbal medicines, ānayitum secured, sampātipanasādayaḥ Sampati and Panasa, vānarāḥ Vanara, javēna swift phase, śīghram quickly, kṣīrōdam milky ocean, sāgaram ocean, yāntu to get.

"Let Sampati and Panasa go quickly to the milky ocean in a swift phase to get those medicines."
harayastuvijānantipārvatīstāmahauṣadhīḥ .

sañjīvakaraṇīṅdivyāṅviśalyāṅdēvanirmitām ।।6.50.30।।


harayaḥ monkeys, pārvatīḥ mountains, tāḥmahauṣadhīḥ that supreme medicine, divyām wonderful, sañjīvakaraṇīm Sanjeevakarani, dēvanirmitām for the cause of Devatas viśalyām Visalyakarani, vijā s nanti known to Brahma.

"Those monkeys only know the supreme medicine available in the mountains. They have to get Sanjeevakarani and Visalyakarani known to Brahma."
candraścanāmadrōṇaścakṣīrōdēsāgarōttamē .

amṛtaṅyatramathitaṅtatratēparamauṣadhī ।।6.50.31।।


yatra there, amṛtam nectar of immortality, mathitam was churned, sāgarōttamē foremost of oceans, kṣīrōdē milky ocean, candraśca Chandra's, drōṇaśca Drona's, tē they, paramauṣadhī supreme medicine, tatra present.

"There, where the milky ocean, the foremost of oceans, was churned, two mountains have risen by the name Chandra and Drona. The supreme herbs of medicine are present there."
tautatravihitēdēvaiḥparvataumahōdadhau .

ayaṅvāyusutōrājan hanūmāṅstatragacchatu ।।6.50.32।।


tau both, tauparvatau mountains, tatra there, mahōdadhau well known, dēvaiḥ Deities, vihitau kept, rājan o King, vāyusutaḥ son of wind God, ayam let go, hanumān Hanuman, tatra there, gacchatu proceed.

"Both the mountains are well known. Deities have kept the herbal medicine there. Let the son of wind god, Hanuman proceed."
ētasminnantarēvāyurmēgāṅścāpisavidyutaḥ .

paryasyasāgarētōyaṅkampayananivamēdinīm ।।6.50.33।।


ētasmin in the meanwhile, antarē middle, savidyutaḥ wind also, mēghāṅścāpi clouds also, sāgarē ocean, tōyam water, paryasyan scattered about, vāyuḥ by the wind, mēdinīm in the sky, kampayananiva started shaking.

In the mean while winds blew, clouds also rose up, water in the ocean was scattered about by the wind and lightning appeared in the sky.
mahatāpakṣavātēnasarvavadīpamahādrumāḥ .

nipēturbhagnaviṭapāḥsalilēlavaṇāmbhasi ।।6.50.34।।


sarvavadīpamahādrumāḥ all the trees of the island, mahatā huge, pakṣavātēna by the flutter of the wings wind, bhagnaviṭapāḥ broken, lavaṇāmbhasi salt water of the ocean, salilē water, nipētuḥ entered.

All the huge trees of the island were broken by the flutter of the wings (of Garuda) and fell into the salt water of the ocean.
abhavan pannagāstrastābhōginastatravāsinaḥ .

śīghraṅsarvāṇiyādāṅsijagmuścalavaṇārṇavam ।।6.50.35।।


pannagāḥ serpents, trastāḥ frightened, abhavan in fear, tatra there, vāsinaḥ inhabiting, bhōginaḥ sea monsters, sarvāṇi all of them, yādāṅsi crawled, śīghram quickly, lavaṇārṇavam into the salty ocean, jagmuḥ went.

All the serpents and sea monsters inhabiting there terrified at Garuda went quickly into the salty waters of the ocean.
tatōmuhūrtārgaruḍaṅvainatēyaṅmahābalam .

vānarādadṛśuḥsarvējvalantamivapāvakam ।।6.50.36।।


tataḥ then, sarvē all, vānarāḥ Vanaras, muhūrtāt instantly, jvalantam blazing like, pāvakam iva like fire, vainatēyam son of Vinatha, mahābalam of mighty prowess, garuḍam Garuda, dadṛśuḥ perceived.

Then all the Vanaras perceived Garuda endowed with mighty prowess, the son of Vinatha blazing like fire.
tamāgatamabhiprēkṣyanāgāstēsampradudruvuḥ .

yaistausatpuruṣaubaddhauśarabhūtairmahābalau ।।6.50.37।।


śarabhūtaiḥ in the form of arrows, mahābalau mighty, yaiḥ those, tau both, satparuṣau noble, baddhau bound, tē those, nāgāḥ serpents, āgatam seeing, tam they, prēkṣya seeing, sampradudruvuḥ fled.

Seeing the noble Rama and Lakshmana bound by the serpents in the form of arrows (released by Indrajith), the serpents fled.
tatassuparṇaḥkākutsthauspṛṣṭavāpratyabhinadanitaḥ .

vimamarśacapāṇibhyāṅmukhēcandrasamaprabhē ।।6.50.38।।


tataḥ thereafter, suparṇaḥ Garuda, kākutsthau at Kakuthsas, Rama and Lakshmana, spṛṣṭavā touching, pratyabhinandyaca paying respect, pāṇibhyām both feet, candrasamaprakhyē like moon, mukhē face, vimamarśaca wiped.

Thereafter Garuda paying his respects to the noble Rama and Lakshmana, touching their feet, wiped their face which shone like the moon.
vainatēyēnasamspṛṣṭāstayōḥsamruruhurvraṇāḥ .

suvarṇēcatanūsnigdhētayōrāśubabhūvatuḥ ।।6.50.39।।


vainatēyēna by Garuda, samsṛṣṭāḥ caressed, tayōḥ both of their, vraṇāḥ wounds, samruruhuḥ cleared, āśu instantly, tayōḥ both, tanū bodies, suvarṇēca like gold, snigdhē bright, babhūvatuḥ turned.

Caressed by Garuda, both their bodies were cleared of wounds instantly shone like gold and turned bright.
tējōvīryaṅbalaṅcaujautsāhaścamahāguṇāḥ .

pradarśanaṅcabuddhiścasmṛtiścadviguṇaṅtayōḥ ।।6.50.40।।


tayōḥ their, tējaḥ brilliance, vīryam prowess, utsāhaśca daring courage, mahāguṇāḥ great qualities, pradarśanam manifested, buddhiśca intelligence, smṛtiśca memory, dviguṇam redoubled.

Their brilliance, prowess, daring courage, intelligence, memory, and great qualities got manifested many folds.
tāvutthāpyamahātējāgaruḍōvāsavōpamau .

ubhautausasvajēhṛṣṭōrāmaścainamuvācaha ।।6.50.41।।


mahātējāḥ extraordinary brilliance, garuḍaḥ Garuda, vāsanōpamau equal to Indra, tau them, utthāpya raising up, ubhau both, sasvajē embraced, rāmaśca Rama, hṛṣṭaḥ joyful, ēvam in that way, uvācaha spoke.

Raising up both the princes who were extraordinarily brilliant and equalled Indra, Garuda embraced Rama joyfully and thus spoke.
bhavatprasādād vyasanaṅrāvaṇiprabhavaṅmahat .

āvāmihavyatikrāntaupūrvavad balinaukṛtau ।।6.50.42।।


bhavatprasādād by your kindness, āvām we, rāvaṇiprabhavam Ravana's son's influence, mahat great, vyasanam calamity, iha here, vyatikrāntau overcome, pūrvavat regained like before, balinau strength, kṛtau did.

"By your kindness, we have overcome this calamity caused by Ravana's son and regained our strength as before."
yathātātaṅdaśarathaṅyathā.jaṅcapitāmaham .

tathābhavantamāsādyahṛdayaṅmēprasīdati ।।6.50.43।।


bhavantam for me, āsādya to meet you, tātam father, daśaratham Dasaratha, yathā same way, pitāmaham grandfather, ajaṅca Aja also, yathā in the same way, tathā like that, mē my, hṛdayam in my heart, prasīdati rejoices.

"For me to meet you is like meeting my father Dasaratha and grandfather, Aja. My heart rejoices."
kōbhavānrūpasampannōdivyasraganulēpanaḥ .

vasānōvirajēvastradivyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ ।।6.50.44।।


rūpasampannaḥ of charming appearance, divyasraganulēpaḥ smeared with wonderful unguents, virajē free from dust, vastra adored in,, vasānaḥ garments, divyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ wearing beautiful ornaments, bhavān yourself, kaḥ who are you.

"Who are you, richly endowed with charming appearance, smeared with unguents adored in dust free garments, wearing beautiful ornaments?"
tamuvācamahātējāvainatēyōmahābalaḥ .

patattrirājaḥprītātmāharṣaparyākulēkṣaṇaḥ ।।6.50.45।।


mahātējāḥ endowed with brightness, mahābalaḥ strong, patattrirājaḥ king of birds, vainatēyaḥ Vinatha, prītātmā delighted self, harṣaparyākulēkṣaṇaḥ eyes with tears of joy, tam to him, uvāca said.

To Rama whose eyes were filled with joyful tears, Vinatha, the king of birds, full of brightness and strength said.
ahaṅsakhātēkākutstha priyaḥprāṇōbahiścaraḥ .

garutmānihasamprāptōyuvayōḥsāhyakāraṇāt ।।6.50.46।।


kākutstha Kakuthsa, aham I am, tē to you, priyaḥ dear, sakhā friend, bahiścaraḥ outer, prāṇaḥ breath, garutmān Garuthman, yuvayōḥ you both, sāhyakāraṇāt in order to help, iha here, samprāpta reached.

"O Kakuthsa! I am Garuthman, your dear friend and your outer breath. I reached here to help you."
asurāvāmahāvīryāvānarāvāmahābalāḥ .

surāścāpisagandhvarvāḥpuraskṛtyaśatakratum ।।6.50.47।।

nēmaṅmōkṣayituṅśaktāśśarabandhaṅsudāruṇam .

māyābalādindrajitānirmitaṅkrūrakarmaṇā ।।6.50.48।।


krūrakarmaṇā of cruel deeds, indrajitā of Indrajith, māyābalāt by his tricks, nirmitam for that reason, sudāruṇam very fierce, imam such, śarabandham bondage with arrows, mōkṣayitum to get freed from, mahāvīryāḥ of mighty valour, asurāḥvā demon, mahābalāḥ great strength, vānarāḥvā Vanara also, śatakratum hundred sacrifices, puraskṛtya had done, sagandharvāḥ even Gandharvas, suraścāpi even Devatas, naśaktāḥ not possible.

"For the demons endowed with great strength and of mighty valour or for Gandharvas, or Vanaras or for even Devatas, or Indra who has done a hundred sacrifices, it is not possible to get relieved from bondage of the arrows of Indrajith of cruel deeds carried out by tricks."
ētēnāgāḥkādravēyāstīkṣṇadaṅṣṭrāviṣōlbaṇāḥ .

rakṣōmāyāprabhāvēṇaśarābhūtvāstvadāśritāḥ ।।6.50.49।।


tīkṣṇadaṅṣṭrāḥ with sharp fangs viṣōlbaṇāḥ highly poisonous, kādravēyāḥ born to Kadra Devata, ētēnāgāḥ these serpents, rakṣōmāyāprabhāvēṇa by the tricks applied by Rakshasas, śarāḥ arrows, bhūtvā turned into, tvadāśritāḥ reached you.

"These arrows are serpents born of Kadra Devata. They have sharp fangs and are highly poisonous. By the tricks of Rakshasa, it has turned into arrows and reached you."
sabhāgyaścāsidharmajña rāma satyaparākrama .

lakṣmaṇēnasahabhrātrāsamarēripughātinā ।।6.50.50।।


dharmajña righteous, satyaparākrama whose strength is truth, rāma Rama, samarē in war, śatrughātinā destroyer of foes, bhrātrā brother, lakṣmaṇēnasaha accompanied by Lakshmana, sabhāgyaḥ lucky, asi you are.

"You are lucky and also Lakshmana your brother, destroyer of foes in war. Rama your strength is truth, and you are righteous."
imaṅśrutvātuvṛttāntaṅtvaramāṇō.hamāgataḥ .

sahasāyuvayōḥsnēhātsakhitvamanupālayan ।।6.50.51।।


aham I am, imam this, vṛttāntam information, śrutvā having heard, yuvayōḥ both of you, snēhāt out of friendship, sakhitvam affection, anupālayan in obedience to you, sahasā at once, tvaramāṇaḥ hastened, āgataḥ to reach.

"Having heard the information about both of you bound by serpents, out of my friendship and affection and in obedience to you I hastened and reached here."
mōkṣitaucamahāghōrādasmātsāyakabandhanāt .

apramādaścakartavyōyuvābhyāṅnityamēvaca ।।6.50.52।।


mahāghōrāt frightful, asmāt to you, sāyakabandhanāt from the bondage of snakes, mōkṣitauca and to relieve, yuvābhyām both of you, nityamēvaca guilelessness, apramādaḥ inattentive, kartavyaḥ your duty.

"Considering it as my duty to relieve you both from the frightful bondage of snakes I reached. Do not be inattentive and guileless."
prakṛtyārākṣasāḥsarvēsaṅgrāmēkūṭayōdhinaḥ .

śūrāṇāṅśuddhabhāvānāṅbhavatāmarārjavaṅbalam ।।6.50.53।।


prakṛtyā by nature, sarvē all, rākṣasāḥ Rakshasas, saṅgrāmē in war, kūṭayōdhinaḥ use tricks in war, śūrāṇām noble people, śuddhabhāvānām of good nature, bhavatām for you, ārjavam guilelessness, balam strength.

"Rakshasas by nature use tricks in war. For noble people with good nature guilelessness is strength."
tannaviśvasanīyaṅvōrākṣasānāṅraṇājirē .

ētēnaivōpamānēnanityaṅjihmāhirākṣasāḥ ।।6.50.54।।


tat being so, raṇājirē in war, vaḥ them, rākṣasānām Rakshasas, naviśvasanīyam not to be trusted, ētēna because, upamānēnaiva by this experience, rākṣasāḥ of Rakshasa, nityam ever, jihmāḥhi crooked.

"Being so you should not trust Rakshasas. By this experience you know that Rakshasas are crooked."
ēvamuktvātadārāmaṅsuparṇassumahābalaḥ .

pariṣvajyacasuhṛtsnigdhamāpraṣṭumupacakramē ।।6.50.55।।


mahābalaḥ mighty strong, saḥsuparṇaḥ that Suparna, tadā then, rāmam to Rama, ēvam in that way, uktvā having said, suhṛtsnigdham most affectionately, pariṣvajyaca embracing, apraṣṭum took leave, upacakramē and proceeded.

Having said so, Suparna endowed with mighty strength embraced Rama most affectionately and took leave of him.
sakhē rāghava dharmajña ripūṇāmapivatsala .

abhyanujñātumicchāmigamiṣyāmiyathāmatam ।।6.50.56।।


dharmajña right, ripūṇāmapi even to an enemy, vatsala dear, sakhē friend, rāma Rama, abhyanujñātum take leave of you, icchāmi wish, yathāmatam truly, gamiṣyāmi let me go.

"My dear friend! I wish to take leave of you. Truly you are knower of what is right, and you are dear even to an enemy."
nacakautūhalaṅkāryaṅsakhitvaṅpratirāghava .

kṛtakarmāraṇēvīra sakhitvaṅprativētsyasi ।।6.50.57।।


vīra heroic, rāghava Raghava, sakhitvam friendship, kautūhalam curiosity, nakāryam that question, raṇē in war, kṛtakarmā having won, sakhitvam friendship, prativētsyasi recognize.

"Heroic Rama! No question about your curiosity about our friendship now. After winning the war you will recognize."
bālavṛddhāvaśēṣāṅtukṛtvālaṅkāṅśarōrmibhiḥ .

rāvaṇaṅcaripuṅhatvāsītāṅtvaṅsamulapsyatē ।।6.50.58।।


laṅkām at Lanka, śarōrmibhiḥ with arrows, bālavṛddhānaśēṣām left with youngsters and aged, kṛtvā having done so, ripum enemy, rāvaṇam Ravana, hatvā killed, tvam you, sītām Sita, samulapsyatē recover again.

"Lanka will be left with youngsters and the aged with your arrows. The enemy Ravana killed, you will recover Sita."
ityēvamuktvāvacanaṅsuparṇaśśīghravikramaḥ .

rāmaṅcavirujaṅkṛtvāmadhyētēṣāṅvanaukasām ।।6.5.59।।

pradakṣiṇaṅtataḥkṛtvāpariṣvajyacavīryavān .

jagāmākāśamāviśyasuparṇaḥpavanōyathā ।।6.50.60।।


suparṇaḥ Suparna, śīghravikramaḥ swift in flying, vīryavān valiant, suparṇaḥ Suparna, tēṣām from there, vanaukasām to the forest, madhyē middle, ityēvam in that way, vacanam words, uktvā having spoken, rāmam to Rama, virujam embracing him, kṛtvā done, tataḥ thereafter, pradakṣiṇaṅkṛtvā going round in reverence, pariṣvajyaca soared, pavanōyathā like wind, ākāśam into the sky, āviśya flew, jagāma and went.

Having spoken to Rama in that manner, Suparna endowed with wind speed in flight embraced Rama and went around him as a mark of reverence and soared into the sky.
virujaurāghavaudṛṣṭavātatōvānarayūthapāḥ .

siṅhanādāṅstadānēdurlaṅgūlaṅndudhuvustadā ।।6.50.61।।


tataḥ then, vānarayūthapāḥ Vanara troops, rāghavau Raghavas, virujau freed from anguish, dṛṣṭavā seeing, tadā then, siṅhanādān roared like lions, nēduḥ sound, tadā then, lāṅgūlān tails, dudhuvuśca lashed.

Thereafter the Vanara troops, seeing the Raghavas freed from anguish, roared like a lion, and lashed their tails.
tatōbhērīssamājaghnurmṛdaṅgāṅścāpyanādayan .

dadhmuśśaṅkhānsamprahṛṣṭāḥkṣēvalantyapiyathāpuram ।।6.50.62।।


tataḥ and then, bhērīḥ drums, samājaghnuḥ played, mṛdaṅgāṅścāpi even mridangams, avādayan played, śaṅkhān conches, dadhmuḥ blew, yathāpuram as before, kṣēvalantyapi leap and jump.

Then the Vanaras played drums and even mridangams, blew conches and started jumping and leaping as before.
āsphōṭyāḥspōṭyavikrāntāḥvānarāḥnagayōdhinaḥ .

drumānutpaṭyavividhāṅstasthuśśatasahasraśaḥ ।।6.50.63।।


nagayōdhinaḥ who fight uprooting trees, vikrāntāḥ proud of their ability, āsphōṭyāḥ breaking forth, vānarāḥ Vanaras, spōṭya cracking fingers and making loud noise, śatasahasraśaḥ hundreds and thousands, vividhān several, drumān trees, utpāṭya uprooted, tasthuḥ stood.

The Vanaras who can fight with trees, uprooted several trees expressing their capacity distinctly and breaking them, and cracking their fingers. Making loud noise in hundreds and thousands stood there.
visṛjantōmahānādāṅstrāsayantōniśācarān .

laṅkādvārāṇyupājagmuryuddhakāmāḥplavaṅgamāḥ ।।6.50.64।।


plavaṅgamāḥ Vanaras, mahānādān great noise, visṛjantaḥ emitting, niśācarān night rangers, trāsayantaḥ frightening, yuddhakāmāḥ desiring to wage war, laṅkādvārāṇi gates of Lanka, upājagmuḥ reached.

Making a lot of noise, the Vanaras reached the gates of Lanka frightening night rangers and desiring to wage war.
tēṣāṅsukhīmastumulōninādōbabhūvaśākhāmṛgayūthapānām .

kṣayēnidāghasyayathāghanānāṅnādassubhīmōnadatāṅniśīthē ।।6.50.65।।


nidāghasya thundering, kṣayē universal destruction, niśīdhē midnight, nadatām sound, ghanānām heavy clouds, subhīmaḥ terrific, nādaḥyathā like sound, tēṣām from there, śākhāmṛgayūthapānām troops of Vanaras who fight with trees, subhīmaḥ frightening, tumulaḥ loud, nādaḥ sound, babhūva arose.

Thundering sounds resembling heavy clouds making terrific sounds arose, as if universal destruction was taking place at midnight.
।। ityārṣēvālmīkīyēśrīmadrāmāyaṇēādikāvyēyuddhakāṇḍēpañcāśassargaḥ ।।
