[Ravana sends Prahastha the CommanderinChief of the army to the battlefield]

अकम्पनवधंश्रुत्वाक्रुद्धोवैराक्षसेश्वरः ।

किञ्चिददीनमुखश्चापिसचिवांस्तानुदैक्षत ।।6.57.1।।


राक्षसेश्वरः Rakshasa king, अकम्पनवधम् Akampana's death, श्रुत्वा having heard, क्रुद्धः angry, किञ्चित् little, दीनमुखःचअपि with pale face, तान् his, सचिवान् ministers, उदैक्षत looked at.

The king of Rakshasas hearing about the death of Akampana, was pale and a little angry and looked at his ministers.
सतुध्यात्वामुहूर्तंतुमन्त्रिभिस्संविचार्यच ।

ततस्तुरावणःपूर्वदिवसेराक्षसाधिपः ।।6.57.2।।

पुरींपरिययौलङ्कांसर्वगुल्मानवेक्षितुम् ।


राक्षसाधिपः Rakshasa king, सःरावणः Ravana, मुहूर्तम् for a while, ध्यात्वा reflected, मन्त्रिभिः ministers too, संविचार्यच deliberated, ततः then, पूर्वदिवसे forenoon, सर्वगुल्मान् all posts, अवेक्षितुम् inspect, लङ्कांपुरीम् Lanka city, ययौ proceeded.

Ravana, the king of Rakshasas, reflected for a while and deliberated with his ministers and proceeded in the forenoon to inspect all posts in Lanka.
तांराक्षसगणैर्गुप्तांगुल्मैर्बहुभिरावृताम् ।।6.57.3।।

ददर्शनगरींलङ्कांपताकाध्वजमालिनीम् ।


लङ्कां Lanka, राक्षसगणैः by Rakshasa army, गुप्ताम् guarded, बहुभिः many, गुल्मैः posts, आवृताम् surrounded, पताकाध्वजमालिनीम् with rows of flags and posts and pennants तांनगरीम् that city, ददर्श saw.

Ravana saw Lanka guarded by the Rakshasa army, surrounded by many posts, with flags, posts, and pennants.
रुद्धांतुनगरींदृष्टवारावणोराक्षसेश्वरः ।।6.57.4।।

उवाचात्महितंकालेप्रहस्तंयुद्धकोविदम् ।


राक्षसेश्वरः Lord of Rakshasas, रावणः Ravana, रुद्धाम् besieged, नगरीम् city, दृष्टवा seeing, काले time, युद्धकोविदम् skilled in warfare, प्रहस्तम् Prahastha, आत्महितम् for his welfare, उवाच spoke.

Ravana, the Lord of Rakshasas seeing the city besieged, spoke to Prahastha who was skilled in warfare for his welfare.
पुरस्योपनिविष्टस्यसहसापीडितस्यवा ।।6.57.5।।

नान्यंयुद्धात्प्रपश्यामिमोक्षंयुद्धविशारद ।


युद्धविशारद knowledgeable in war, उपनिविष्टस्य to deliver, सहसा suddenly, पीडितस्य oppressed, पुरस्य city's, युद्धात् from war, अन्यम् others, मोक्षम् can liberate, नप्रवश्यामि not able to know.

"I am not able to see anyone (other than you) knowledgeable in warfare to deliver the city oppressed suddenly and can liberate from war."
अहंवाकुम्भकर्णोवात्वंवासेनापतिर्मम ।।6.57.6।।

इन्द्रजिद्वानिकुम्भोवावहेयुर्भारमीदृशम् ।


अहंवा myself, कुम्भकर्णोवा or Kumbhakarna, मम my, सेनापतिः CommanderinChief, त्वंवा or you, इन्द्रजिद्वा Indrajith, निकुम्भोवा or Nikumbha, ईदृशम् such, भारम् burden, वहेयुः undertake.

"Either myself or Kumbhakarna, or my CommanderinChief, or you, or Indrajith, or Nikumbha can undertake such a burden."
सत्वंबलमतश्शीघ्रमादायपरिगृह्यच ।।6.57.7।।

विजयायाभिनिर्याहियत्रसर्वेवनौकसः ।


सःत्वम् you, ततः therefore, शीघ्रम् quickly, बलम् army, आदाय getting, परिगृह्यच taking charge, वनौकसः Vanaras, सर्वे all, यत्र there, विजयाय for conquering, अभिनिर्याहि are collected.

"Therefore, quickly get ready with the army and take charge for conquering the vanaras collected there."
निर्याणायादेवतेनूनंचपलाहरिवाहिनी ।।6.57.8।।

नर्दतांराक्षसेन्द्राणांश्रुत्वानादंद्रविष्यति ।


निर्याणायादेव as soon as you go, ते they, नूनम् surely, चलिता unsettled, हरिवाहिनी Vanara army, नर्दताम् uproar, राक्षसेन्द्राणाम् Rakshasas, नादम् sound, श्रुत्वा hearing, द्रविष्यति will run.

As soon as you go there surely the unsettled Vanara army will run away hearing the uproar and loud noise of Rakshasas.
चपलाह्यविनीताश्चचलचित्ताश्चवानराः ।।6.57.9।।

नसहिष्यन्तितेनादंसिंहनादमिवद्विपाः ।


चपलाः fickle minded, अविनीताश्च undisciplined, चलचित्ताश्च volatile, वानराः Vanaras, द्विपाः glowing, सिंहनादमिव like lions roar, ते you, नादम् sound, नसहिष्यन्ति not endure.

"Vanaras, who are fickle minded, undisciplined and volatile, will not endure the roar of lions of glowing Rakshasas."
विद्रुतेचबलेतस्मिन् रामःसौमित्रिणासह ।।6.57.10।।

अवशस्तेनिरालम्बःप्रहस्तवशमेष्यति ।


प्रहस्त Prahastha, तस्मिन् बले your force, विद्रुते knowing, सौमित्रिणासह along with Saumithri, रामः Rama, अवशः surely, निरालम्बः helpless, वशम् fall into your power, एष्यति will be.

"Prahastha! Knowing your strength, the helpless Vanaras will surely run away and along with Saumithri. Rama will fall into your power."
आपत्संशयिताश्रेयोनात्रनिस्संशयीकृता ।।6.57.11।।

प्रतिलोमानुलोमंवायद्वानोमन्यसेहितम् ।


अत्र then, संशयिता uncertain, आपत् if it comes, श्रेयः good, निस्सशयीकृता undesirable, न not, तु you, यत् that, वा or, प्रतिलोमानुलोमंवा whether acceptable or not acceptable, हितम् good, मन्यसे I think.

"If uncertain death comes it is good, not when it comes by not encountering. Think what is acceptable to you and what is not acceptable to you and that is acceptable to me."
रावणेनैवमुक्तस्तुप्रहस्तोवाहिनीपतिः ।।6.57.12।।

राक्षसेन्द्रमुवाचेदमसुरेन्द्रमिवोशना ।


रावणेन by Ravana, एवम् in that way, उक्तः spoken, वाहिनीपतिः CommanderinChief, उशना preceptor of Rakshasas, असुरेन्द्रमिव this way to the king of Rakshasas, राक्षसेन्द्रम् Rakshasa Lord, इदम् thus, उवाच spoke.

Prahastha, the CommanderinChief having heard Ravana, replied to the king of Rakshasas just as the preceptor of Rakshasas spoke to Bali.
राजन्मन्त्रितपूर्वंनःकुशलैस्सहमन्त्रिभिः ।।6.57.13।।

विवादश्चापिनोवृत्तस्समवेक्ष्यपरस्परम् ।


राजन् O King!, कुशलैः capable, मन्त्रिभिःसह along with ministers, नः is it not, मन्त्रितपूर्वम् earlier, परस्परम् one another, समवेक्ष्य reviewed, नः is it not, विवादश्च controversy, वृत्तः arose.

"O king! This was deliberated with capable ministers earlier, is it not It was reviewed with one another, and controversy arose."
प्रदानेनतुसीतायाःश्रेयोव्यवसितंमया ।।6.57.14।।

अप्रदानेपुनर्युद्धंदृष्टमेत्तथैवनः ।


सीतायाः Sita, प्रदानेन by giving, मया by me, श्रेयः beneficial, व्यवसितम् if not given, अप्रदानेपुनः not given, नः if not, युद्धम् war, दृष्टमेव foreseen.

"If Sita is given away it is beneficial and if not given war is foreseen is known to us."
सोऽहंदानैश्चमानैश्चसततंपूजितस्त्वया ।।6.57.15।।

सान्त्वैश्चविविधैःकालेकिंनकुर्यांहितंतव ।


काले time comes, दानैश्च gifts, मानैश्च honours, विविधैः many, सान्त्वैश्च praises, सततम् always, त्वया by you, पूजितः worshipped, सःअहम् me all of you, तव your, किम् why, नकुर्याम् why will I not do

"You have always given me gifts, many honours and praises earlier and worshipped me. When time comes why will I not do"
नहिमेजीवितंरक्ष्यंपुत्रदारधनानिच ।।6.57.16।।

त्वंपश्यमांजुहूषन्तंत्वदर्थेजीवितंयुधि ।


मे I, जीवितम् life, रक्ष्यम् protection, नहि not only, पुत्रदारधनानिच sons, wife, wealth also, त्वदर्थे will not be spared, युधि in war, जीवितम् life, जुहूषन्तम् willing to give up life, माम् by me, त्वम् for you, पश्य you may see.

"I do not need to protect my life, sons, wives and wealth also. I am willing to give up my life also in war for you. You will see."
एवमुक्त्वातुभर्तारंरावणंवाहिनीपतिः ।।6.57.17।।

उवाचेदंबलाध्यक्षान्प्रहस्तःपुरतःस्थितान् ।


वाहिनीपतिः O CommanderinChief, प्रहस्तः Prahastha, भर्तारम् protector, रावणम् Ravana, एवम् in that way, उक्त्वा having said, पुरतः in front, स्थितान् stood, बलाध्यक्षान् chief of army, इदम् this way, उवाच spoke.

Prahastha, having submitted to his king Ravana in that way, the CommanderinChief of the army commanded the army that stood before him.
मेशीघ्रंराक्षसानांमहाद्बलम् ।।6.57.18।।

मद्भाणाब्दावेगेनहतानांशनिचरणाजिरे ।

अद्यहृष्यन्तुमांसादाःपक्षिणःकाननौकसां ।।6.57.19।।


राक्षसानाम् Rakshasas, महाबलम् great army, मे me, समानयत together, काननौकसाम् carnivorous, पक्षिणः birds, मद्बाणाच by my arrows, वेगेन speedily, रणाजिरे to the battlefield, हतानाम् killed, मांसादाः flesh, अद्य they, तृप्यन्तु will be satisfied.

"Get the great Rakshasa army together with me to the battlefield speedily. By my arrows all the carnivorous birds will be killed and satisfied with the flesh (of Vanaras) today", said Prahastha.
इत्युक्तास्तेप्रहस्तेनबलाध्यक्षा: कृतत्वरा: ।

बलमुद्योजयामासुस्तस्मिन्राक्षसमन्दिरे ।।6.57.20।।


कृतत्वरा: very soon, बलाध्यक्षाः commander in chief, इत्युक्ता: spoken that way, प्रहस्तेन by Prahastha, तस्मिन् in that way, राक्षसमन्दिरे Rakshasa abode, बलम् troops, उद्योजयामासुः mobilized.

As soon as the commander in chief ordered in that way, the Rakshasa troops mobilized in the abode of Rakshasas.
साबभूवमुहूर्तेननिग्मर्नानाविधायुधैः ।

लङ्काराक्षसवीरैस्तैर्गजैरिवसमाकुला ।।6.57.21।।


मुहूर्तेन in a short while, सालङ्का that Lanka, गजैरिव of elephant size, भीमैः frightening, तै: they, नानाविधायुधैः different kinds of weapons, तैः they, राक्षसवीरैः Rakshasa warriors, समाकुला gathered, बभूव filled.

In a short while the whole of Lanka was filled with elephant size Rakshasa warriors gathered with different kinds of weapons.
हुताशनंतर्पयतांब्राह्मणांश्चनमस्यताम् ।

आज्यगन्धप्रतिवहःसुरभिर्मारुतोववौ ।।6.57.22।।


हुताशनम् propitiating fire, तर्पयताम् with offerings, ब्राह्मणांश्च to the brahmanas, नमस्यताम् worshipping, आज्यगन्धप्रतिवहः air with fragrance of ghee and flowers, सुरभः very pleasant, मारुतः blew, वनौ past.

A fragrant breeze blew past there with Rakshasas propitiating fire god, with offerings and by the worshipping of brahmins the air was pleasant filled with the fragrance of ghee and flowers.
स्रजश्चविविधाकाराजगृहुस्त्वभिमन्त्रिताः ।

सङ्ग्रामसज्जाःसम्हृष्टाधरायन्राक्षसास्तदा ।।6.57.23।।


तदा then, सङ्ग्रामसज्जाः military weapons and articles, राक्षसाः Rakshasa, विविधाकाराः of different form, अभिमन्त्रिताः consecrated with chanting, स्रजश्च flower garland s, जगृहुः went, सम्हृष्टाः rejoiced, धरायन् wore.

Then the Rakshasas rejoiced, wishing victory, consecrated military material with chanting and wore flower garland s.
सधनुष्काःकवचिनोवेगादाप्लुत्यराक्षसाः ।

रावणंप्रेक्ष्यराजानंप्रहस्तंपर्यवारयन् ।।6.57.24।।


सधनुष्काः bows, कवचिनः shields, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, राजानम् to the king, रावणम् Ravana, प्रेक्ष्य looking at, वेगात् swiftly, आप्लुत्य greeting, प्रहस्तम् Prahastha, पर्यवारयन् surrounded.

Wearing bows and shields, looking at and greeting the king Ravana, they swiftly surrounded Prahastha.
अथामन्त्ऱ्यतुराजानंभेरीमाहत्यभैरवाम् ।

आरुरोहरथंयुक्तःप्रहस्तस्सज्जकल्पितम् ।।6.57.25।।

हयैर्महाजवैर्युक्तंसम्यक्सूतसुसंयतम् ।

महाजलदनिर्घोषंसाक्षाच्चन्द्रार्कभास्वरम् ।।6.57.26।।

उरगध्वजदुर्धर्षंसुवरूथंस्ववस्करम् ।

सुवर्णजालसंयुक्तंप्रहसन्तमिवश्रिया ।।6.57.27।।


अथ and then, युक्तः taking leave, प्रहस्तः Prahastha, राजानम् King, आमन्त्य causing, भैरवाम् terrific, भेरीम् drums, आहत्य blowing, सज्जकल्पितम् equipped for fight, महाजवैः of good speed, हयैः horses, युक्तम् driven by, सम्यक् capable, सूतसुसंयुतम् with charioteer, महाजलदनिर्घोषम् sounding like thundering cloud, साक्षात् just as, चन्द्रार्कभास्वरम् shining like sun and moon, उरगध्वज with serpent sign on, दुर्धर्षम् difficult to overpower, सुवरूथम् provided with a wooden fence, स्ववस्करम् as defence against collision, सुवर्णजालसंयुक्तम् covered with net of gold, श्रिया splendour, प्रहसन्तमिव as if laughing, रथम् chariot, आरुरोह ascended.

Taking leave of the king and causing terrific sound of blowing of drums, Prahastha, ascended, laughing on to a splendorous chariot, equipped to fight, driven by horses endowed with good speed and capable charioteer, sounding like a thundering cloud, shining like the sun and moon, with a sign of serpent on flag, provided with a wooden fence for defence, which was difficult to collide, covered with gold net.
ततस्तंरथमास्थायरावणार्पितशासनः ।

लङ्कायानिर्ययौतूर्णंबलेनमहतावृतः ।।6.57.28।।


ततः then, रावणार्पितशासनः by the order of Ravana, रथम् chariot, आस्थाय taking seat, महता great, बलेन army, वृतः surrounded by, तूर्णम् immediately, लङ्कायाः from Lanka, निर्ययौ departed.

Then, by the order of Ravana, Prahastha set out immediately and departed from Lanka taking a se at in the chariot, surrounded by the great army.
ततोदुन्धुभिनिर्घोषःपर्जन्यनिनदोपमः ।

वादित्राणांचनिनदःपूरयन्निवमेदिनीम् ।।6.57.29।।

शुश्रुवेशङ्खशब्दश्चप्रयातेवाहिनीपतौ ।


वाहिनीपतौ CommanderinChief of the army, प्रयाते departed, ततः there, पर्जन्यनिनदोपमः arose sounds, दुन्धुभिनिर्घोषः sounds of kettle drums, वादित्राणाम् blasts of fanfares, निनदःच noise, शङ्खशब्दश्च also sounds of conchs, मेदिनीम् earth, पूरयन्निव filling, शुश्रुवे was heard.

As the CommanderinChief was going there arose sounds of kettle drums, blasts of fanfares, and noise of blasts of conchs filling the earth was heard.
निनदन्तस्स्वरान्घोरान्राक्षसाजग्मुरग्रतः ।।6.57.30।।

भीमरूपामहाकायाःप्रहस्तस्यपुरस्सराः ।


भीमरूपाः of fierce appearance, महाकायाः endowed with huge body, राक्षसाः Rakshasa, घोरान् dreadful, स्वरान् voice, निनदन्तः making sound, प्रहस्तस्यः Prahastha's, पुरस्सरा marching:, अग्रतः in front, जग्मुः went.

Rakshasas of fierce appearance, of huge body size, making dreadful sounds went marching ahead of Prahastha.
नरान्तकःकुम्भहनुर्महानादस्समुन्नतः ।।6.57.31।।

प्रहस्तसचिवाह्येतेनिर्ययुःपरिवार्यतम् ।


नरान्तक Naranthaka, कुम्भहनुः Kumbhahanu, महानादः Mahanada, समुन्नतः Samunnatha, प्रहस्तसचिवाः Prahastha's adjutants, एते these, तम् with, परिवार्य surrounded, निर्ययुः went.

Naranthaka, Kumbhahanu, Mahanada, Samunnatha, the adjutants of Prahastha went with him.
व्यूढेनेवसुघोरेणपूर्वद्वारात्सनिर्ययौ ।।6.57.32।।

गजयूथनिकाशेनबलेनमहतावृतः ।


सः he, व्यूढेनेव formed into battle array, सुघोरेण formidable, गजयूथनिकाशेन resembled a herd of elephants, महता huge, बलेन army, वृतः surrounded, पूर्वद्वारात् from the eastern gate, निर्ययौ emerged.

He, emerged from the eastern gate, surrounded by a huge, formidable army formed into a battlearray, which resembled a herd of elephants.
सागरप्रतिमौघेनवृतस्तेनबलेनसः ।।6.57.33।।

प्रहस्तोनिर्ययौक्रुद्धःकालान्तकयमोपमः ।


कालान्तकयमोपमः Kala, Anthaka and Yama, क्रुद्धः enraged, सःप्रहस्तः that Prahastha, सागरप्रतिमौघेन like an ocean, तेन by that, बलेन forces, वृतः surrounded, निर्ययौ emerged.

Prahastha emerged in rage surrounded by his forces which was like an ocean that resembled Kala (time spirit), Anthaka (death) and Yama (God of death).
तस्यनिर्याणघोषेणराक्षसानांचनर्दताम् ।।6.57.34।।

लङ्कायांसर्वभूतानिविनेदुर्विकृतैस्स्वरैः ।


तस्य by the, निर्याणघेषेण sounds that emerged at departure, नर्दताम् roaring, राक्षसानांच Rakshasas also, लङ्कायाम् in Lanka, सर्वभूतानि all beings, विकृतैः unnatural way, स्वरैः tone, विनेदुः shrieked.

By the sounds of roaring that emerged at the departure of the Rakshasas all beings of Lanka shrieked in unnatural ways.
व्यभ्रमाकाशमाविश्यमांसशोणितभोजनाः ।।6.57.35।।

मण्डलान्यपसव्यानिखगाश्चक्रूरथंप्रति ।


मांसशोणितभोजनाः living on flesh and blood, खगाः birds, व्यभ्रम् circled, आकाशम् in the sky, आविश्य reaching, रथंप्रति round the chariot, अपसव्यानि in anticlockwise, मण्डलानि round, चक्रुः went.

The birds living on flesh and blood reached the sky and circled anticlockwise around the chariot.
सम्नत्यःपावकज्वालाःशिवाघोराववाशिरे ।।6.57.36।।

अन्तरिक्षात्पपातोल्कावायुश्चपरुषंवनौ ।


घोराः dreadful, शिवाः jackals, पावकज्वालाः tongues of fire, वम्नत्यः vomiting, ववाशिरे howled, अन्तरिक्षात् from the sky, उल्का meteor, पपात fell, वायुश्च wind blew, परुषम् violent, ववौ wind blew.

A meteor fell from the sky, the wind blew violently. Jackals howled vomiting tongues of fire.
अन्योन्यमभिसंरब्धाग्रहाश्चनचकाशिरे ।।6.57.37।।

मेघाश्चखरनिर्घोषारथस्योपरिरक्षसः ।

ववृषंरुधिरंचास्यसिषिचुश्चपुरस्सरान् ।।6.57.38।।


अन्योन्यम् one another, अभिसंरब्दाः clashing, नचकाशिरे not shine, रक्षसः Rakshasas, रथस्य chariot's, उपरि top, मेघाश्च like cloud, खरनिर्घोषाः violent like donkeys, रुधिरम् blood, ववृर्षुः rained, पुरःसरान् marching, सिषिचुश्च drenched.

The planets clashing with one another did not shine. The clouds were violent like donkeys and rained blood on top of the chariot and the marching Rakshasas drenched.
केतुर्मूर्धनिगृध्रोऽस्यनिलीनोदक्षिणामुखः ।

तुदन्नुभयतःपार्श्वंसमग्रामहरत्प्रभाम् ।।6.57.39।।


दक्षिणामुखः facing south, केतोः banner, मूर्धनि top, निलीनः surrounded, गृध्रः vulture, अस्य its, उभयतः both, पार्श्वम् sides, तुदन् scratching, समग्राम् entire, श्रियम् prosperity, अहरत् snatched.

Seeing a vulture sitting on the banner (of Prahastha) facing south scratching both sides, Prahastha became pale as if the entire prosperity had been snatched away.
सारथेर्भहुशश्चास्यसङ्ग्राममवगाहतः ।

प्रतोदोन्यपतद्धस्तात्सूतस्यहयसादिनः ।।6.57.40।।


सङ्ग्रामम् war, अवगाहतः knower, सूतस्य charioteer, हयसादिनः controlling the horses, सारथेः charioteer, हस्तात् from hand, प्रतोदः whip, अस्य his, बहुशः many times, न्यपतत् slipped.

A charioteer and knower of controlling the horses, the whip slipped many times from his hand.
निर्याणश्रीश्चयाऽस्यासीद्भास्वरावसुदुर्लभाः ।

साननाशमुहूर्तेनसमेचस्खलिताहयाः ।।6.57.41।।


भास्वरा splendour, वसुदुर्लभा that which is difficult, या for, निर्याणश्री disappeared, सा that, मुहूर्तेन moment, ननाश destroyed, हयाश्च even horses, समे even ground, स्खलिताः stumbled.

The splendour of Prahastha which is difficult to destroy, disappeared at that moment and the horses stumbled on even ground.
प्रहस्तंत्वभिनिर्यान्तंप्रख्यातबलपौरुषम् ।

युधिनानाप्रहरणाकपिसेनाऽभ्यवर्तत ।।6.57.42।।


प्रख्यातबलपौरुषम् well known for the valour, अभिनिर्यान्तम् coming towards, तुप्रहस्तम् on the part of Prahastha, नानाप्रहरणा various weapons, कपिसेना monkey army, युधि in war, अभ्यवर्तत stood facing.

Seeing Prahastha, who is well known for his valour coming towards, for war with various weapons, the monkey army stood facing.
अथघोषस्सुतुमुलोहरीणांसमजायत ।

वृक्षानारुजतांचैवगुर्वीरागृह्णतांशिलाः ।।6.57.43।।


अथ and then वृक्षान् trees, आरुजतांचैव for the sake of fighting, गुर्वीः heavy, शिलाः rocks, आगृह्णताम् taking hold, हरीणाम् monkeys, सुतुमुलः exceedingly, घोषः tumultuous, समजायत arose.

And when the monkeys took hold of heavy rocks and trees for fighting exceedingly tumultuous clamor arose.
नदतांराक्षसानांचवानराणांचगर्जताम् ।

उभेप्रमुदितेसैन्येरक्षोगणवनौकसाम् ।।6.57.44।।

वेगितानांसमर्थानामन्योन्यवधकाङ् क्षिणाम् ।

परस्परंचाह्वयतांनिनाद्शूयतेमहान् ।।6.57.45।।


नदताम् yelling noise, राक्षसानांच of Rakshasas, गर्जताम् roaring, वानराणांच noise of Vanaras, उभे both, सैन्ये army, प्रमुदिते highly rejoiced, वेगितानाम् seized with speed, समर्थानाम् powerful, अन्योन्यवधकाङ् क्षिणाम् who sought the destruction of one another, परस्परम् one another, आह्वयताम् challenging, रक्षोगणवनौकसाम् armies of Rakshasas and Vanaras, महान् huge, निनादः roar, श्रूयते was heard.

The yelling noise of Rakshasas and roaring noise of Vanaras of both armies, who were powerful and seized with speed, who sought the destruction of one another, challenging noises of Rakshasas and Vanaras, highly rejoiced, was heard.
ततःप्रहस्तःकपिराजवाहिनीमभिप्रतस्थेविजयायदुर्मतिः ।

विवृद्धवेगंश्चविवेशतांचमूंयथामुमूर्षुश्शलभोविभावसुम् ।।6.57.46।।


ततः thereafter, दुर्मतिः perverted, प्रहस्तः Prahastha, कपिराजवाहिनीम् army of monkey king, विजयाय to conquer, प्रहस्तः Prahastha, विवृद्धवेगःच grown immensely, मुमूर्षुः being on the point of death, शलभः moth, विभावसंयथा enters into flame, तांचमूम् that, विवेश entered.

Thereafter, perverted Prahastha entered into that army of monkey king grown immensely, to conquer the army, just as moth enters into flame, being at the point of death.
