[Kumbhakarna condemns Mahodara's plans and departs to the battlefield.]

स तथोक्तस्तुनिर्भर्त्स्यकुम्भकर्णोमहोदरम् ।

अब्रवीद्राक्षसश्रेष्ठंभ्रातरंरावणंततः ।।6.65.1।।


तथा in that way, उक्तः having said, कुम्भकर्णः Kumbhakarna, महोदरम् to Mahodara, निर्भर्त्स्य warned, ततः then, राक्षसश्रेष्ठम् foremost of Rakshasas, रावणम् to Ravana, अब्रवीत् spoke.

Kumbhakarna having heard Mahodara, warned him not to speak that way and spoke to Ravana, the foremost of Rakshasas.
सोऽहंतवभयंघोरंवधात्तस्यदुरात्मनः ।

रामस्याद्यप्रमार्जामिनिर्वैरोहिसुखीभव ।।6.65.2।।


सःअहम् you, my, दुरात्मनः cruel minded, तस्यरामस्य that Rama's, वधात् with killing, तव your, घोरम् dreadful, भयम् fear, अद्य now, प्रमार्जामि will get rid of, निर्वैरः enmity, सुखी happily, भव you be.

"You know me. I will get rid of your enmity killing the cruel minded Rama. Be fearless and happy now."
गर्जन्ति न वृथाशूरानिर्जलाइवतोयदाः ।

पश्यसम्पद्यमानंतुगर्जितंयुधिकर्मणा ।।6.65.3।।


शूराः warriors, निर्जलाः waterless, तोयदाःइव cloud like, वृथा wasteful, न गर्जन्ति not roar, युधि in war, कर्मणा action, सम्पद्यमानम् having completed, गर्जितम् will roar, पश्य see.

"Warriors will not roar wastefully like waterless clouds. You will see me roaring after having completed the action."
न मर्षयन्तिचात्मानंसम्भावयतिनात्मना ।

अदर्शयित्वाशूरास्तुकर्मकुर्वन्तिदुष्करम् ।।6.65.4।।


शूराः warriors, आत्मानम् themselves, न आत्मना not themselves, सम्भावयतिम् glorify, न मर्षयन्ति not seek, अदर्शयित्वा without displaying, दुष्करम् difficult to accomplish, कर्म action, कुर्वन्ति will do.

"Warriors do not tolerate even when glorified. They never praise themselves. They accomplish difficult deeds without displaying them."
विक्लबानामबुद्धीनांराज्ञापण्डितमानिनाम् ।

श्रृण्वतासदितमिदंत्वाद्विधानांमहोदर ।।6.65.5।।


महोदर Mahodara, विक्लबानाम् cowardly, पण्डितमानिनाम् devoid of intellect, अबुद्धीनाम् not knowing anything, त्वद्विधानाम् as if knowing, श्रृण्वता on hearing, इदं this, सादितम् appeal.

"O Mahodara! Your words of appeal will be accepted as cowardly, devoid of intellect and to those who do not know anything, it looks as if you know."
युद्धेकापुरुषैर्नित्यंभवद्भिःप्रियवादिभि: ।

राजानमनुगच्छद्भिःसर्वंकृत्यमोद्धिसादितम् ।।6.65.6।।


युद्धे in combat, कापुरुषैः those men, नित्यम् ever, प्रियवादिभिः pleasing in talk, राजानम् to king, अनुगच्छद्भिः after going, भवद्भिः you also, सर्वम् all, कृत्यम् task, मोद्धि happy, सादितम् brought it to this state.

"You, who always fear in combat, are talking pleasingly to the king , going after him happily brought the matter to this state."
राजशेषाकृतालङ्काक्षीणःकोशोबलंहतम् ।

राजानमिममासाद्यसुहृचचिह्नममित्रकम् ।।6.65.7।।


सुहृचचिह्नम् signs of friendliness, अमित्रकम् unfriendly, इमम् thus, राजानम् to a king, आसाद्य taking hold, कोशः treasury, क्षीणः reduced, बलम् army, हतम् destroyed, लङ्का Lanka, राजशेषा divested of its wealth, कृता to destroy.

"The king is left alone in Lanka, which is divested of its wealth, and treasury reduced, and the army destroyed by unfriendly people pretending as good friends around him."
एषनिर्याम्यहंयुद्धमुद्यतश्शत्रुनिर्जये ।

दुर्नयंभवतामद्यसमीकर्तुंमिहाहवे ।।6.65.8।।


एषःअहम् I in this manner, शासत्रुनिर्जये over power the enemies, उद्यतः raised, आहवे battle, अद्य now, भवताम् to you, दुर्नयम् mistakes, समीकर्तुम् done by all together, युद्धम् war set out.

"I am setting out in this manner to the battlefield, to overpower the enemies in the battle in order to redeem the mistakes done by all of you."
एवमुक्तवतोवाक्यंकुम्भकर्णस्यधीमतः ।

प्रत्युवाचततोवाक्यंप्रहसन्राक्षसाधिपः ।।6.65.9।।


एवम् in that way, उक्तवतः having spoken, धीमतः wise, कुम्भकर्णस्य Kumbhakarna's, वाक्यम् words, ततः thereafter, राक्षसाधिपः Rakshasa king, प्रहसन् laughing, वाक्यम् words, प्रत्युवाच replied.

Wise Kumbhakarna having spoken in that way, the Rakshasa king, Ravana laughed and replied in this way.
महोदरोऽयंरामात्तुपरित्रस्तो न संशयः ।

न हिरोचयतेतात युद्धंयुद्धविशारद ।।6.65.10।।


युद्धविशारद expert in combat, dear, अयम् this, महोदरः Mahodara, रामात् at Rama, परित्रस्तः terrified, संशयः doubt, न not, युद्धम् war, नरोचयतेहि will not desire to.

"O dear! You are an expert in war! This Mahodara is terrified at Rama. He is not desiring war. There is no doubt."
कश्चिन्मेत्वत्समोनास्तिसौहृदेनबलेन च ।

गच्छशत्रुवधायत्वंकुम्भकर्णजयाय च ।।6.65.11।।


कुम्भकर्ण Kumbakarna, सौहृदेन with friendly feeling at heart, बलेन च mighty, त्वत्समः equal to you, कश्चित् indeed, नास्ति not, त्वम् you, शत्रुवधाय by killing the enemy, जयाय च victorious, गच्छ will go.

"O Kumbhakarna! There is none who is equal to you in might and friendliness at heart towards me. You go and be victorious by killing the enemies."
तस्मात्तुशत्रुनाशार्थंभवान्सम्बोधितोमया ।

अयंहिकालस्सुहृदांराक्षसानामरिन्दम ।।6.65.12।।


अरिन्दम one who is difficult to encounter, तस्मात्तु therefore, भवान् you, शत्रुनाशार्थम् for the sake of putting an end to the enemy, मया by me, सम्भोधितः awakened, अयम् these, राक्षसानाम् Rakshasas, सुहृदाम् tamer of enemies, कालःहि momentous period.

"You are difficult to encounter. You have awakened for the sake of putting an end to the enemy. It is a momentous period for the Rakshasas, O tamer of enemies."
तद्गच्छशूलमादायपाशहस्तइवान्तकः ।

वानरान्राजपुत्रौ च भक्ष्यादित्यतेजसा ।।6.65.13।।


तत् therefore, शूलम् trident, आदाय taking up, पाशहस्तः holding the noose in hand, अन्तकःइव like god of death, गच्छ proceed, वानरान् at Vanaras, आदित्यतेजसा shining like sun, राजपुत्रौ च with the prince, भक्ष्य to devour.

"Therefore, taking up trident holding the noose in hand like the God of Death proceed to devour the monkeys as well as the two princes shining like the Sun."
समालोक्यतुतेरूपंविद्रविष्यन्तिवानराः ।

रामलक्ष्मणयोश्चापिहृदयेप्रस्फुटिष्यतः ।।6.65.14।।


ते to you, रूपम् form, समालोक्य having observed, वानराः Vanaras, विद्रविष्यन्ति will flee, रामलक्ष्मणयोः Rama and Lakshmana, हृदयेचापि at heart, प्रस्फुटिष्यतः break.

"Seeing your form, the Vanaras will run away, Rama and Lakshmana's heart will break."
एवमुक्त्वामहातेजाःकुम्भकर्णंमहाबलम् ।

पुनर्जातमिवात्मानंमेनेराक्षसपुङ्गवः ।।6.65.15।।


महातेजाः highly energetic, राक्षसपुङ्गवः Rakshasa leader, महाबलम् mighty, कुम्भकर्णम् Kumbhakarna, एवम् in that way, उक्त्वा having spoken, आत्मानम् himself, पुनः again, जातम् इव like born again.

The highly energetic king of Rakshasas having spoken like that to mighty Kumbhakarna, felt as if he had taken birth again.
कुम्भकर्णबलाभिज्ञोजानंस्तस्यपराक्रमम् ।

बभूवमुदितोराजाशशाङ्कइवनिर्मलः ।।6.65.16।।


कुम्भकर्णबलाभिज्ञः Kumbhakarna's mighty strength, तस्य his, पराक्रमम् valour, जानन् knowing, राजking, मुदितः happy, शशाङ्कःइव like the moon, निर्मलः pure, बभूव remained.

The king who knew the valour and mighty strength of Kumbhakarna remained happy like the moon.
इत्येवमुक्तःसम्हृष्टोनिर्जगाममहाबलः ।

राज्ञस्तुवचनंश्रुत्वाकुम्भकर्णस्समुद्यत:।। 6.65.17।।


इत्येवम् thus, उक्तः having spoken, महाबलः mighty, सम्हृष्टः pleased, निर्जगाम set forth, ज्ञः king's, वचनम् words, श्रुत्वा having heard, कुम्भकर्ण: Kumbhakarna, समुद्यत: got up.

The king having spoken these words, mighty Kumbhakarna, pleased with the king's words set forth to fight.
आददेनिशितंशूलंवेगाच्छत्रुनिबर्हणम् ।

सर्वकालायसंदीप्तंतप्तकाञ्चनभूषणम् ।।6.65.18।।


शत्रुनिबर्हणम् destroyer of enemy, सर्वकालायसम् whetted dart, दीप्तम् flaming, तप्तकाञ्चनभूषणम् embellished with polished gold, निशितम् sharp, शूलम् trident, वेगात् in great hurry, आददे seized.

The destroyer of enemies, hurriedly seized a whetted flaming iron dart, embellished with polished gold.
इन्द्राशनिसमंभीमंवज्रप्रतिमगौरवम् ।

देवदानवगन्धर्वयक्षपन्नगसूदनम् ।।6.65.19 ।।

रक्तमाल्यंमहाधामंस्वतश्चोद्गतपावकम् ।

आदायनिशितंशूलंशत्रुशोणितरञ्जितम् ।।6.65.20।।

कुम्भकर्णोमहातेजारावणंवाक्यमब्रवीत् ।


महातेजाः highly energetic, कुम्भकर्णः Kumbhakarna, इन्द्राशनिसमभीमम् equal to Indra in prowess, वज्रप्रतिमगौरवम् like Indra's thunderbolt in form, देवदानवगन्धर्वयक्षपन्नगसूदनम् Devas, Danavas, Gandharvas, Yakshas, Pannagas,, रक्तमाल्यमहाधाम wearing red coloured garland s, स्वतः himself, उद्गतपावकम् like the rising fire, शत्रुशोणितरञ्चितम् shining like the face of enemy, निशितम् sharp, शूलम् trident, आदाय wielding, रावणम् Ravana, वाक्यम् words, अब्रवीत् spoke.

The dart was like Indra's thunderbolt in form and was equal to thunderbolt, capable of destroying Devas, Danavas, Gandharvas, Yakshas and Pannagas, was like rising fire shining like the face of an enemy. It was sharp, wreathed in garlands of red colour and emitting flame. Kumbhakarna wielding the dart said.
गमिष्याम्यहमेकाकीतिष्ठत्विहबलंमम ।।6.65.21।।

अद्यतान् क्षुभितान् क्रुद्धोभक्षयिष्यामिवानरान् ।


अहम् I, एकाकी alone, गमिष्यामि will proceed, मे my, बलम् army, इह now, तिष्ठा stay, क्षुभितान् enraged, क्रुद्धः angry, अद्य now, तान् them, वानरान् Vanaras, भक्षयिष्यामि will consume.

Enraged and angry Kumbhakarna said, "I will proceed now. Let my army remain here. I will consume them on keys today."
कुम्भकर्णवचश्श्रुत्वारावणोवाक्यमब्रवीत् ।।6.65.22।।

सैन्यैःपरिवृतोगच्छशूलमुद्गतपाणिभिः ।


कुम्भकर्णवचः Kumbhakarna's words, श्रुत्वा having heard, रावणः Ravana, वाक्यम् words, अब्रवीत् spoke, शूलमुद्गरपाणिभिः trident, sword and bar in hand, सैन्यैः army, परिवृतः surrounded, गच्छ go.

Hearing Kumbhakarna's words Ravana said," Go with trident, sword and iron bar in hand surrounded by the army."
वानराहिमहात्मानश्शीघ्रास्सव्यवसायिनः ।।6.65.23।।

एकाकिनंप्रमत्तंवानयेयुद्धशनैःक्ष्यम् ।


महात्मानः gigantic, शीघ्रा: endowed with speed, सुव्यवसायिनः full of determination, वानराः Vanaras, एकाकिनम् alone, प्रमत्तंवा not alert, दशनैः with teeth, क्ष्यम् destroy.

"The Vanaras are gigantic, endowed with speed and determination. They will destroy with their teeth when you are not alert and alone."
तस्मात्परमदुर्धर्षै: सैन्यैःपरिवृतोव्रज ।।6.65.24।।

रक्षसामहितंसर्वंशत्रुपक्षंनिषूदय ।


तस्मात् therefore, सैन्यैः army, परिवृतः surrounded, परमदुर्धर्षै: extremely difficult to encounter, रक्षसाम् for Rakshasas, अहितम् not favourable, सर्वम् all, शत्रुपक्षम् enemy side, निषूदय destroy.

"Therefore, go surrounded by the army. They are extremely difficult to encounter. They are like thunderbolts. Destroy them who are on the enemy side and not favourable to Rakshasas."
अथासनात्समुत्पत्यस्रजं मणिकृतान्तराम् ।।6.65.25।।

आबबन्धमहातेजाःकुम्भकर्णस्यरावणः ।


अथ and then, महातेजाः extremely brilliant, रावणः Ravana, आसनात् from the seat, समुत्पत्य got up, मणिकृतान्तराम् encrusted with gems, स्रजम् garland of flowers, कुम्भकर्णस्य Kumbhakarna's, आबबन्ध adorned.

And then the brilliant Ravana got up from his seat, garlanded Kumbhakarna with garland s of flowers encrusted with gems.
अङ्गदान्यङ्गुलीवेष्टान्वराण्याभरणानि च ।।6.65.26।।

हारं च श्शिसङ्काशमाबबन्दमहात्मनः ।


अङ्गदानि armlets, अङ्गुलीवेष्टान् rings, वराणि exquisite, आभरणानि च ornaments, श्शिसङ्काशम् moonlight like pearls, हारं च garland s, महात्मनः great soul, आबबन्द placed on his neck.

Then Ravana placed armlets, rings, exquisite ornaments, garland s of pearls like moonlight on Kumbhakarna's neck.
दिव्यानि च सुगन्धीनिमाल्यदामानिरावणः ।।6.65.27।।

श्रोत्रिचासञ्जयामासश्रीमतीचास्यकुण्डले ।


रावणः Ravana, अस्य his, श्रोत्रे crown, च also, दिव्यानि wonderful, सुगन्धीनि fragrant, माल्यदामानि garlands, श्रीमति prosperous, कुण्डले च ear rings, असञ्जयामास suspended.

Ravana then placed his crown, wonderful fragrant garlands and rich suspended earrings on Kumbhakarna.
काञ्चनाङ्गदकेयूरोनिष्काभरणभूषितः ।।6.65.28।।

कुम्भकर्णोबृहत्कर्णस्सुहुतोऽग्निरिवाबभौ ।


काञ्चनाङ्गदकेयूरो gems studded golden armlets, निष्काभरणभूषितः adored with gold ornaments, बृहत्कर्णः large ears, सुहुतः distinguished by, अग्निरिव like fire, आबभौ seemed.

Adorned with armlets studded with gems and golden ornaments on his distinguished large ears, Kumbhakarna shone like fire.
श्रोणीसूत्रेणमहतामेचकेनव्यराजत ।।6.65.29।।

अमृतोत्पादनेनद्धोभुजङ्गेनेवमन्दरः ।


महता huge, मेचकेन dark girdle, व्यराजत glittering, श्रोणीमात्रेण red jewel, अमृतोत्पादने for churning nectar of immortality, भुजङ्गेन serpent Vasuki, नद्धः fastened, मन्दरःइव like Mandara mountain.

Adorned with a huge dark girdle, Kumbhakarna seemed like a bright jewel like Mount Mandara used for churning nectar of immortality fastened by Vasuki.
स काञ्चनंभारसहंनिवातंविद्युत्प्रभंदीप्तमिवात्मभासा ।

आबध्यमानःकवचंरराजसन्ध्याभ्रसम्वीतराजः ।।6.65.30।।


काञ्चनम् golden, भारसहम् heavy weight, निवातम् to break, विद्युत्प्रभम् lightening like arc, आत्मतेजसा self effulgent, दीप्तमिव like glowing fire, कवचम् shield, आबध्यम I नः bound, सः he, सन्ध्याभ्रसम्वीतः shining like evening twilight, अद्रिराजःइव like mountain peak, भासा shone.

Kumbhakarna decked in heavy golden shield (impenetrable by any weapon) and difficult to break, seemed like the lightning with self effulgence, glowing like fire, shone like the evening twilight around the mountain peak.
सर्वाभरणसर्वाङ्गश्शूलपाणिस्सराक्षसः ।

त्रिविक्रमकृतोत्साहोनारायणइवाबभौ ।।6.65.31।।

भ्रातरंसम्परिष्वज्यकृत्वाचापिप्रदक्षिणम् ।

प्रणम्यशिरसातस्मैसम्प्रतस्थेमहाबलः ।।6.65.32।।


सर्वाभरण decked with ornaments on all his limbs, सर्वाङ्ग all limbs, श्शूलपाणिस्स pike in hand, राक्षसः the Rakshasa, त्रिविक्रमकृतोत्साहो ready to take his three strides, नारायणइवाबभौ like Narayana, महाबलः endowed with great strength, भ्रातरम् brother, सम्परिष्वज्य embracing, प्रदक्षिणम् going round, कृत्वा having done चापि also, तस्मै his, शिरसा head, प्रणम्य bowing down in reverence, सम्प्रतस्थे sallied forth.

Decked with ornaments on all his limbs, with pike in hand, the Rakshasa was like Narayana ready to take three strides to cover the universe. Endowed with great strength, embraced his brother, went round in reverence bowing down his head and sallied forth.
निष्पतन्तंमहाकायंमहानादंमहाबलम् ।

तमाशीर्भिःप्रशस्ताभिःप्रेषयामासरावणः ।।6.65.33।।


निष्पतन्तम् dismissed, महानादम् loud sound, महाकायम् huge body, महाबलम् great army, कुम्भकर्णः Kumbhakarna, प्रशस्ताभिः highly capable , आशीर्भिः benediction also, प्रेषयामास started observing.

Kumbhakarna, of huge body, of loud voice and highly capable having been dismissed by Ravana, went with the great army after benediction and started observing.
शङ्खदुन्दुभिनिर्घोषैस्सैन्यैश्चापिवरायुथैः ।

तंगजैश्चतुरङ्गैश्चस्यन्दनैश्चाम्बुदस्वनैः ।।6.65.34।।

अनुजग्मुर्महात्मानं रथिनो रथिनां वरम् ।


महात्मानं many great warriors, रथिनः seated on chariot, रथिनाम् chariot, वरम् best of, तम् that, शङ्खदुन्दुभिनिर्घोषैः with the noise of conches and drums, वरायुधैः best of weapons, सैन्यैः च army too, गजैश्च elephants also, तुरङ्गैश्च horses, अम्बुदस्वनैः thunder like, स्यन्दनैश्च war chariots also, अनुजग्मुः started to proceed.

Many great warriors seated on the best of chariots, with best of weapons amidst noise of conchs and drums, elephants, horses also and thunder like chariot warriors, started to proceed.
सर्पैरुष्ट्रैःखरैरश्वैस्सिम्हद्विपमृगद्विजैः ।

अनुजग्मुश्चतंघोरंकुम्भकर्णंमहाबलम् ।।6.65.35।।


घोरम् dreadful, महाबलम् mighty, तम् them, कुम्भकर्णम् Kumbhakarna, सर्पैः serpents, उष्ट्रैः camels, खरै: donkeys, अश्वै: horses, सिम्हद्विपमृगद्विजैः lions, antelopes, birds, अनुजग्मुः followed.

On dreadful and mighty serpents, camels, donkeys, horses, lions, antelopes, and birds also the Rakshasas accompanied Kumbhakarna.
स पुष्पवर्षैरवकीर्यमाणोधृतातपत्रःशितशूलपाणिः ।

मदोत्कटःशोणितगन्धमत्तोविनिर्ययौदावनदेवशत्रुः ।।6.65.36।।


धृतातपत्रः determined and eager, शितशूलपाणि sharpened tridents in hand, मदोत्कटः excited by drink, शोणितगद्धमत्तः smeared with blood red fragrant sandal paste, दानवदेवशत्रुः enemy of Danavas and Devatas, सः he, पुष्पवर्षैः showering rain of flowers, अवकीर्यमाणः parasol covered his head, विनिर्ययौ sallied forth.

Kumbhakarna, the enemy of Devas and Danavas determined and eager showered with a rain of flowers, head covered with parasol, excited with drink, wielding sharpened tridents in hand and smeared with blood red fragrant sandal paste, sallied forth in that state.
पदातयश्चबहवोमहानादामहाबलाः ।

अन्वयूराक्षसाभीमाभीमाक्षाश्शस्त्रपाणयः ।।6.65.37।।


महानादा loud voice, महाबलाः of great prowess, भीमाः fearful, भीमाक्षाः frightening eyes, शस्त्रपाणयः lifting weapons in hand, बहवः many kinds, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, पदातयः following on foot, अन्वयू followed.

Rakshasas of loud voice, great prowess, and fearful with frightening eyes, lifted the many weapons in hand and followed on foot.
रक्ताक्षास्सुमहाकायानीलाञ्चनचयोपमाः ।

शूलानुद्यम्यखडगांश्चनिशितांश्चपरश्वधान् ।।6.65.38।।

बहुव्यामांश्चपरिघान्गदाश्चमुसलानि च ।

तालस्कन्धांश्चविपुलान्क्षेपणीयान्दुरासदान् ।।6.65.39।।


रक्ताक्षाः of blood red eyes, सुमहाकायाः of huge body size, नीलाञ्चनचयोपमाः dark blue coloured perplexed, शूलान् tridents, खडगांश्च swords, निशितान् sharpened, परश्वधान् whetted axes, बहुव्यामांश्च many kinds, परिघान् iron bars, गदाश्च maces also, मुसलानि च clubs, क्षेपणीयान् mallets, दुरासदान् evil minded, विपुलान् vast, तालस्कन्धांश्च palmyra trees, उद्यम्य set out

Rakshasas with blood red eyes, of huge body size, dark blue in colour, holding tridents, sharpened whetted axes and weapons of many kinds, iron bars and maces, clubs, mallets and palmyra trees, the evil minded vast army set out.
अथान्यद्वपुरादायदारुणंरोमहर्षणम् ।

निष्पपातमहातेजाःकुम्भकर्णोमहाबलः ।।6.65.40।।

धनुःशतपरीणाहः स षट्छत्रसमुच्छ्रितः ।

रौद्रःशकटचक्राक्षोमहापर्वतसन्निभः ।।6.65.41।।


अथ and then, महातेजाः extremely energetic, महाबलः endowed with mighty strength, सःकुम्भकर्णः that Kumbhakarna, दारुणम् fearful appearance, रोमहर्षणम् horripilating, अन्यत् वपुः another form, आदाय taking hold, धनुःशतपरीणाहः hundred bows in breadth, षट्छत्रसमुच्छ्रितः six hundred bows in length, शकटचक्राक्षः wheels of chariot, महापर्वतसन्निभः like a huge mountain, रौद्रः enraged, निष्पपात set out .

Assuming another fearful form, Kumbhakarna who was highly energetic, endowed with mighty strength and frightful in form, which was a hundred bows in breadth and six hundred bows in height, with eyes like wheels of chariot, enraged, seemed like a huge mountain.
सन्निपत्य च रक्षांसिदग्धशैलोपमामहान् ।

कुम्भकर्णोमहावक्त्रःप्रहसन्निदमब्रवीत् ।।6.65.42।।


दग्धशैलोपमा resembling a charred mountain, महान् great, महावक्त्रः wide mouth, कुम्भकर्णः Kumbhakarna, रक्षांसि Rakshasas, सन्निपत्य reaching near, प्रहसन् laughing, अब्रवीत् spoke.

Thus spoke, Kumbhakarna who resembled a charred mountain, with wide mouth, reaching near the Rakshasas, laughing.
अद्यवानरमुख्यानांतानियूथानिभागश ।

निर्दहिष्यामिसङ्ख्रुद्धश्शलाभानिवपावकः ।।6.65.43।।


अद्य thereafter, सङ्क्रुद्धः furious, वानरमुख्यानाम् leaders of Vanaras, तानि their, यूथानि troop, भागशः battalions, पावकः Paavaka, शलाभामिव consume moths, निर्दहिष्यामि will burn them completely.

Thereafter, furious Kumbhakarna said "Now I will consume all the battalions of Vanaras just as moths are consumed by fire."
नापराध्यन्तिमेकामंवानरा: वनचारिणः ।

जातिरस्मद्विधानांसापुरोद्यानविभूषणम् ।।6.65.44।।


वनचारिणः forest rangers, वानराः Vanaras, मे my, नापराध्यन्तिकामम् never desired to do any harm, साजातिः this clan, अस्मद्विधानाम् our gardens, पुरोद्यानविभूषणम् ornaments of gardens.

"These forest rangers have never desired to do any harm to me. This clan serve as ornaments of our gardens."
पुररोधस्यमूलंतुराघवस्सहलक्ष्मणः ।

हतेतस्मिन् हतंसर्वंतंवधिष्यामिसंयुगे ।।6.65.45।।


सहलक्ष्मणः accompanied by Lakshmana, राघवः Raghava, पुररोधस्य be seized, मूलम् root cause, तस्मिन् their, हते killed, सर्वम् all, हतम् killed, संयुगे in combat, तम् them, वधिष्यामि destroy.

"The root cause of besieging Lanka is Rama and Lakshmana. I will kill them in combat."
एवंतस्यब्रुवाणस्यकुम्भकर्णस्यराक्षसाः ।

नादंचक्रुर्महाघोरंकम्पयन्तइवार्णवम् ।।6.65.46।।


तस्यकुम्भकर्णस्य that Kumbhakarna's, एवम् in that way, ब्रुवाणस्य having spoken like that, राक्षसाः Rakshasas, अर्णवम् ocean, कम्पयन्तःइव like agitated like, घोरम् dreadful, नादम् sound, चक्रुः started.

When Kumbhakarna had spoken that way the Rakshasas made noise that was like the sound of an agitated ocean.
तस्यनिष्पततस्तूर्णंकुम्भकर्णस्यधीमतः ।

बभूवुर्घोररूपाणिनिमित्तानिसमन्ततः ।।6.65.47।।


धीमतः wise, तस्यकुम्भकर्णस्य that Kumbhakarna's, तूर्णम् swiftly, निष्पततः going, समन्ततः all over, घोररूपाणि in dreadful form, निमित्तानि portents, बभूवुः appeared.

As wise Kumbhakarna was proceeding swiftly , dreadful portents appeared.
उल्काशनियुतामेघाबभूवुर्गर्धभारुणाः ।

ससागरवनाचैववसुधासमकम्पत ।।6.65.48।।


उल्काशनियुताः thunder and lightning, गर्धभारुणाः donkey coloured, मेघाः clouds, बभूवुः appeared, ससागरवना ocean and forests, वसुधा च earth, समकम्पत was shaken.

The clouds appeared in the colour of donkey and there was thunder and lightning. The oceans, forests and earth seemed as though shaken.
घोररूपाश्शिवानेदुस्सज्वालकबलैर्मुखैः ।

मण्डलान्यपसव्यानिबबन्धुश्चविहङ्गमाः ।।6.65.49।।


घोररूपाः of frightening form, शिवाः she jackals, सज्वालकबलैः flaming morsels, मुखैः from mouth, नेदुः, विहङ्गमाः birds, अपसव्यानि wheeled, मण्डलानि circular way, बबन्धुः settled.

She jackals were seen with flaming morsels throwing from their mouths. Birds wheeled in a circular way and settled.
निष्पपात च गृध्रोमालेवाऽस्यपथिगच्छतः ।

प्रास्फुरन्नयनंचास्यसव्योबाहुश्चकम्पत ।।6.65.50।।


पथि on the way, गच्छतः marching, अस्य his, शूले pike, गृध्रः eagle, निष्पपाप alighted, अस्य his, नयनम् eyes, प्रास्फुरत् twitched, सव्यः left, बाहुश्च shoulder, कम्पते throbbed.

On the way as he was going an eagle alighted on his pike. His eyes twitched and left shoulder throbbed.
निष्पपाततदाचोल्काज्वलन्तीभीमनिश्श्वना ।

आदित्योनिष्प्रभश्चासीन्नप्रवाति च ऽनिलः ।।6.65.51।।


तदा then, ज्वलन्ती burning meteor, भीमterrible sound, उल्का from the sky, निष्पपात fallen, आदित्यःच sun too, निष्प्रभः without glow, आसीत् dropped, अनिलः wind, सुखः not delightful, न प्रवाति च not blown.

Then a burning meteor fell from the sky making a terrible sound. The sun lost his glow and the wind lost its delight।।
अचिन्तयन्महोत्पातानुदितान्रोमहर्षणान् ।

निर्ययौकुम्भकर्णस्तुकृतान्तबलचोदितः ।।6.65.52।।


कुम्भकर्णःतु Kumbhakarna also, उदितान् un mindful, रोमहर्षणान् which made hair stand on end, महोत्पातान् propelled, अचिन्तयन् not caring, कृतान्तबलचोदितः under force of his destiny, निर्ययौ went.

Kumbhakarna went unmindful of the portents which made hair stand on end propelled by the force of destiny.
न लङ्घयित्वाप्राकारंपद्भ्यांपर्वतसन्निभः ।

ददर्शाभ्रघनप्रख्यंवानरानीकमद्भुतम् ।।6.65.53।।


पर्वतसन्निभः resembling a mountain in form, सः he, पद्भ्याम् on foot, प्राकारम् boundary wall, लङ्घयित्वा leaping over, घनप्रख्यम् like a cloud, अद्भुतम् amazing, वानरानीकम् Vanara troops, ददर्श witnessed.

He who resembled a mountain in form, leapt the boundary wall on foot like a cloud and witnessed the amazing Vanara troops.
तेदृष्टवाराक्षसश्रेष्ठंवानराःपर्वतोपमम् ।

वायुनुन्नाइवघनाययुस्सर्वादिशस्तदा ।।6.65.54।।


तेवानराः those Vanaras, पर्वतोपमम् like a mountain, राक्षसश्रेष्ठम् foremost of Rakshasas, दृष्टवा seeing, तदा then, वायुनुन्नाः swept by wind, घनाःइव like clouds, सर्वाः all, दिशः directions, ययुः dispersed.

On seeing the mountain like form of the foremost of the Rakshasas. the vanaras dispersed in all directions like clouds swept by the wind.
तद्वानरानीकमतिप्रचण्डंदिशोद्रवद्भिन्नमवाभ्रजालम् ।

स कुम्भकर्णस्समवेक्ष्यहर्षान्ननादभूयोघनवद्घनाभः ।।6.65.55।।


भिन्नम् scattered, अभ्रजालम्इव clouds like, दिशः directions, द्रवत् running, अतिप्रचण्डम् notorious, तत् वानरानीकम् that Vanara troops, समवेक्ष्य perceiving, घनाभः heavy cloud, सःकुम्भकर्णः that Kumbhakarna, हर्षात् laughing, घनवत् cloud like, भूयः emitted, नाद roared.

Heavy cloud like Kumbhakarna, a notorious one, perceiving the Vanara troops scattered like clouds in all directions emitted roar, laughing aloud.
तेतस्यघोरंनिनदंनिशम्ययथानिनादंदिविवारिदस्य ।

पेतुर्धरण्यांबहवःप्लवङ्गानिकृत्तमूलाइवशालवृक्षाः ।।6.65.56।।


दिवि sky, वारिदस्य rumbling like, निनादंयथा sound, तस्य those, घोरम् dreadful, निनदम् roar, ते they, बहवः many, प्लवङ्गाः Vanaras, निकृत्तमूलाः whose roots have been severed, शालवृक्षाःइव like Sala trees, धरण्याम् पेतुः fell on ground.

Hearing the dreadful roar of Kumbhakarna, that resembled the rumbling of clouds, many Vanaras fell on the ground like severed Sala trees.
विपुलपरिघवान् स कुम्भकर्णोरिपुनिधनायविनिस्पृतोत्मा ।

कपिषणभयमाददत्सुभीमंप्रभुरिवदण्डवान्युगान्ते ।।6.65.57।।


विपुलपरिघवान् armed with huge iron bars, रिपुनिधनाय for destroying enemies, विनिस्पृतः like god of death, महात्मा great, सःकुम्भकर्णः that Kumbhakarna, युगान्ते at the end of universe, किङ्करदण्डवान् like time spirit with Kinkaras, प्रभुरिव like king, सुभीमम् deadly, कपिषणभयम् causing fear in Vanaras, आददत् waited.

Armed with a huge iron bar, Kumbhakarna stood for destroying the enemies like the great time spirit, deadly God of Death waits at the end of the universe along with Kinkaras, like a king.
