চকার চরিতং কৃত্স্নং বিচিত্রপদমাত্মবান্৷৷1.4.1৷৷

Translation

ভগবান্ possessing divinity, আত্মবান্ possessing spiritual wisdom, ঋষি: sage having the qualities of a poet, বাল্মীকি: Valmiki, প্রাপ্তরাজ্যস্য of him who gained the kingdom, রামস্য Rama's, বিচিত্রপদম্ employing varied words causing astonishment, কৃত্স্নম্ entire, চরিতম্ history, চকার composed.

The divine sage Valmiki, composed in wonderful lines the entire life-story of Rama who regained his kingdom.
