[Manthara incites Kaikeyi --Kaikeyi narrates the virtues of Rama--Manthara insinuates that installation of Rama would harm Bharata--hence Rama should be banished and Bharata coronated.]

mantharā tvabhyasūyaināmutsṛjyābharaṇaṅ ca tat.

uvācēdaṅ tatō vākyaṅ kōpaduḥkhasamanvitā৷৷2.8.1৷৷

Translation

mantharā tu as for Manthara, ēnām about her, abhyasūya having been disgusted, kōpadu:kha samanvitā filled with rage and sorrow, tat that, ābharaṇam ornament, utsṛjya having discarded, tata: after that, idam vākyaṅ this word, uvāca said.

Annoyed with Kaikeyi and filled with rage and sorrow, Manthara discarded the ornament (gifted to her) and said these words:
