[Sampati gets back his wings --- the monkeys rejoice and proceed southward.]

ētairanyaiśca bahubhirvākyairvākyaviśāradaḥ.

māṅ praśasyābhyanujñāpya praviṣṭassa svamālayam৷৷4.63.1৷৷


vākyaviśāradaḥ skilful in speech, saḥ he (sage), ētaiḥ by these, anyaiśca and others, bahubhiḥ by many, vākyaiḥ with words, mām me, praśasya having praised, abhyanujñāpya permitted me to leave, svam his own, ālayam dwelling, praviṣṭaḥ entered.

'The sage who was skilful in speech, having praised me thus and in many other ways, permitted me to leave and entered his dwelling.
kandarāttu visarpitvā parvatasya śanaiśśanaiḥ.

ahaṅ vindhyaṅ samāruhya bhavataḥ pratipālayē৷৷4.63.2৷৷


aham I, parvatasya of the mountain, kandarāt from the cave, śanaiḥ śanaiḥ slowly and slowly, visarpitvā having crawled, vindhyam Vindhya, samāruhya after climbing, bhavataḥ you, pratipālayē I am waiting for your arrival.

'Having crawled slowly and slowly from the cave and climbed the Vindhya, I have been awaiting your arrival.
adya tvētasya kālasya sāgraṅ varṣaśataṅ gatam.

dēśakālapratīkṣō.smi hṛdi kṛtvā munērvacaḥ৷৷4.63.3৷৷


adya now, ētasya kālasya of this time, sāgram more than, varṣaśatam one hundred years, gatam have passed, munēḥ sage's, vacaḥ words, hṛdi in heart, kṛtvā by bearing, dēśakālapratīkṣaḥ waiting for the right time and place, asmi I am.

'More than a hundred years have passed and all this time I have borne the sage's words in my heart and have waited for the right time and place.
mahāprasthānamāsādya svargatē tu niśākarē.

māṅ nirdahati santāpō vitarkairbahubhirvṛtam৷৷4.63.4৷৷


niśākarē when Nishakara, mahāprasthānam the last journey, āsādya having launched, svargatē when he reached heaven, bahubhiḥ by many, vitarkaiḥ with alternatives, vṛtam filled with, mām me, santāpaḥ sorrow, nirdahati it is burning.

'Nishakara went on his last journey and attained heaven. Since then many sad thoughts have criss-crossed my mind and I am consumed with those thoughts.
utthitāṅ maraṇē buddhiṅ munivākyairnivartayē.

buddhiryā tēna mē dattā prāṇānāṅ rakṣaṇāya tu৷৷4.63.5৷৷

sā mē.panayatē duḥkhaṅ dīptēvāgniśikhā tamaḥ.


maraṇē for death, utthim intending, buddhim my mind, munivākyaiḥ sage's words, nivartayē I avert, mē my, prāṇānām of life, rakṣaṇē in protecting, tēna by him, mē my, yā such, buddhiḥ thought, dattā is given, sā that, dīptā glowing, agniśikhā like the flames of fire, tamaḥ iva like darkness, mē my, du:kham agony, apanayatē take away.

'Whenever I intended to die, the words of the sage rang in my mind. The inspiration he gave me to preserve my life removed my agony like the glowing flames of fire that take away darkness.
buddhyatā ca mayā vīryaṅ rāvaṇasya durātmanaḥ৷৷4.63.6৷৷

putrassantarjitō vāgbhirna trātā maithilī katham.


durātmanaḥ of the evil-minded, rāvaṇasya Ravana's, vīryaṅ buddhyatā knowing his valour, mayā by me, maithilī princess from Mithila, katham how, na trātā not protected, vāgbhiḥ with (harsh) words,
putraḥ son, saṅtarjitaḥ goaded.

'I goaded my son with harsh words saying, 'Knowing the valour of the evil-minded Ravana, why did you not protect her (Sita)'
tasyā vilapitaṅ śrutvā tau ca sītāvinākṛtau৷৷4.63.7৷৷

na mē daśarathasnēhātputrēṇōtpāditaṅ priyam.


tasyāḥ her, vilapitam wailing, śrutvā on hearing also, tau both (Rama and Lakshmna), sītāvinākṛtau separated from Sita, mē for me, daśarathasnēhāt in view of my friendship with Dasaratha, putrēṇa by my son, priyam pleased, na utpāditam not created.

'Even after hearing the wailing of Sita, knowing that both (Rama and Lakshmana) are separated from her and considering my friendship with Dasaratha, I felt displeased with my son (as he did not make an attempt to rescue her)'.
tasya tvēvaṅ bruvāṇasya sampātērvānaraissaha৷৷4.63.8৷৷

utpētatustadā pakṣau samakṣaṅ vanacāriṇām.


tadā then, saṅhataiḥ together with, vānaraissaha with the monkeys, tasya when he, ēvam in that way, bruvāṇasya while he was speaking, vanacāriṇām of forest-dwellers, samakṣam in the presence, pakṣau both wings, utpētatuḥ started appearing.

Even as he was telling this to the monkeys his wings started appearing in their presence.
sa dṛṣṭvā svāṅ tanuṅ pakṣairudgatairaruṇacchadaiḥ৷৷4.63.9৷৷

praharṣamatulaṅ lēbhē vānarāṅścēdamabravīt.


saḥ he, aruṇacchadaiḥ with red feathers, udgataiḥ grown, pakṣaiḥ with wings, svām his, tanum body, dṛṣṭvā seeing, atulam unparalleled, praharṣam delight, lēbhē experienced, vānarān monkeys, idam thus, abravīt ca and said.

He experienced an unparalleled delight seeing wings with red feathers growing on his body, and said to the monkeys:
ṛṣērniśākarasyaiva prabhāvādamitātmana:৷৷4.63.10৷৷

ādityaraśminirdagdhau pakṣau mē punarupasthitau.


amitātmanaḥ of the most revered soul, ṛṣēḥ sage, niśākarasya Nishakara's, prabhāvāt due to his grace, ādityaraśminirdagdhau those that are burnt by Sun's radiant heat, mē my, pakṣau both wings, punaḥ again, upasthitau have grown.

'By the grace of the most revered soul,sage Nishakara, both my wings that were burnt by the Sun's radiance have grown again.
yauvanē vartamānasya mamāsīdyaḥ parākramaḥ৷৷4.63.11৷৷

tamēvādyāvagacchāmi balaṅ pauruṣamēva ca.


yauvanē in youth, vartamānasya while I was, mama my, yaḥ that, parākramaḥ valour, āsīt had been, tamēva the same one, adya now, avagacchāmi I find, balam strength, pauruṣamēva even courage, ca also.

'The valour, strength and even courage that I had in my youth,I am experiencing now.
sarvathā kriyatāṅ yatna ssītāmadhigamiṣyatha৷৷4.63.12৷৷

pakṣalābhō mamāyaṅ vassiddhipratyayakārakaḥ.


sarvathā by all means, yatnaḥ effort, kriyatām may be made, sītām Sita, adhigamiṣyatha you will trace, mama me, ayam this, pakṣalābhaḥ growing of wings, vaḥ to you, siddhipratyayakārakaḥ is a proof of your success in future.

ityuktvā sa tānharīn sarvānsampātiḥ patagōttamaḥ৷৷4.63.13৷৷

utpapāta girēśśṛṅgājjijñāsuḥ khagamō gatim.


patagōttamaḥ foremost of birds, sampātiḥ Sampathi, sarvān all, saḥ those, harīn monkeys, iti in this way, uktvā having said, khagamaḥ the bird, gatim direction, jijñāsuḥ eager to find, girēḥ mountain's, śṛṅgāt from the peak, utpapāta flew up.

Sampati, the foremost of the birds thus spoke to the monkeys and flew up from the mountain's peak keen on finding the aerial path.
tasya tadvacanaṅ śrutvā pratisaṅhṛṣṭamānasāḥ৷৷4.63.14৷৷

babhūvurhariśārdūlā vikramābhyudayōnmukhāḥ.


hariśārdūlāḥ tigers among monkeys, tasya his, tat vacanam those words, śrutvā after hearing, pratisaṅhṛṣṭamānasāḥ in turn felt very happy, vikramābhyudayōnmukhāḥ hoping success with their valour, babhūvuḥ became.

The tigers among monkeys felt very happy on hearing the words of Sampati and became sure of their success with their valour.
atha pavanasamānavikramāḥ

plavagavarāḥ pratilabdhapauruṣāḥ.

abhijidabhimukhā diśaṅ yayu-

rjanakasutāparimārgaṇōnmukhāḥ৷৷4.63.15৷৷


atha now, pavanasamānavikramāḥ as strong as the wind, pratilabdhapauruṣāḥ regained courage, plavagavarāḥ best of the monkeys, abhijidabhimukhāḥ facing Abhijit, janakasutāparimārgaṇōnmukhāḥ eager to find the daughter of Janaka, diśam direction, yayuḥ went.

The monkeys as strong as the wind regained courage and went in search of the daughter of Janaka in the direction of Abhijit (constellation known as Abhijit is associated with success).
ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē kiṣkindhākāṇḍē triṣaṣṭitamassargaḥ৷৷
Thus ends the sixtythird sarga in Kishkindakanda of the first epic, the Holy Ramayana composed by sage Valmiki.
