மஹாத்மநா great soul, ராகவேண to Rama, ஏவம் that way, உக்தஃ spoken, ஹநுமாந் Hanuman, ஸீதாயாஃ Sita's, பாஷிதம் said, ஸர்வம் everything, ராகவே to Rama, ந்யவேதயத related.
Thus asked by Sri Rama, Hanuman repeated everything spoken by Sita to Rama.

புருஷர்ஷப bull among men, தேவீ queen, ஜாநகீ Janaki, சித்ரகூடே at Chitrakuta, பூர்வவரித்தம் incident of the past, அபிஜ்ஞாநம் as an identification, யதாததம் as it is, இதம் this, உக்தவதீ she said.
"O bull among men! queen Janaki related to me as a token of identification an incident that had taken place at Chitrakuta in the past.
ஸுகஸுப்தா த்வயா ஸார்தஂ ஜாநகீ பூர்வமுத்திதா.
வாயஸ ஸ்ஸஹஸோத்பத்ய விததார ஸ்தநாந்தரே৷৷5.67.3৷৷

த்வயா ஸார்தம் along with you, ஸுகஸுப்தா lying down happily, ஜாநகீ Janaki, பூர்வம் earlier, உத்திதா woke up, வாயஸஃ a crow, ஸஹஸா swiftly, உத்பத்ய got up, ஸ்தநாந்தரே on her breast, விததார scratched.
"When she was lying on your lap happily she awoke early and a crow came swiftly and scratched on her breast.
பர்யாயேண ச ஸுப்தஸ்த்வஂ தேவ்யங்கே பரதாக்ரஜ.

பரதாக்ரஜ elder brother of Bharata, த்வம் you, பர்யாயேண woke up, தேவ்யங்கே on her lap, ஸுப்தஃ slept, ஸஃ பக்ஷீ that crow, புநஷ்ச again, தேவ்யாஃ Sita's, வ்யதாம் hurting, ஜநயதி கில started hurting.
"O Bharata's brother, when Sita awoke from sleep you slept on her lap. The same crow again hurt her.

புநஃ புநஃ again and again, உபாகம்ய coming over her, பரிஷம் violently, விததார கில started scratching, ததஃ then, த்வம் you, தஸ்யாஃ her, ஷோணிதேந by blood, ஸமுக்ஷிதஃ wet by shedding, போதிதஃ கில woke you up.
வாயஸேந ச தேநைவ ஸததஂ பாத்யமாநயா.
போதிதஃ கில தேவ்யா த்வஂ ஸுகஸுப்தஃ பரந்தப৷৷5.67.6৷৷

பரந்தப scorcher of enemies, தேந by that, வாயஸேநைவ by the crow, ஸததம் repeatedly, பாத்யமாநயா pained, தேவ்யா by the divine lady, ஸுகஸுப்தஃ sleeping happily, த்வம் you, போதிதஃ கில woke you up and informed you.
"O scorcher of enemies! pained by the crow hurting her repeatedly, while you were sleeping happily, she woke you up and informed you about it.
தாஂ து தரிஷ்ட்வா மஹாபாஹோ தாரிதாஂ ச ஸ்தநாந்தரே.

மஹாபாஹோ one with strong arms, ஸ்தநாந்தரே from the breasts, தாரிதாம் flowing, தாம் her, தரிஷ்ட்வா seeing, க்ருத்தஃ furious, ஆஷீவிஷ இவ like a serpent, நிஷ்வஸந் sighing, அப்யபாஷதாஃ you said this.
"Seeing the blood flowing from her breasts you became furious like a hissing serpent and said:
நகாக்ரைஃ கேந தே பீரு தாரிதஂ து ஸ்தநாந்தரம்.
கஃ க்ரீடதி ஸரோஷேண பஞ்சவக்த்ரேண போகிநா৷৷5.67.8৷৷

பீரு timid, தே you, ஸ்தநாந்தரம் from the breasts, கேந who, நகாக்ரைஃ with the tip of the nails, தாரிதம் scratched, ஸரோஷேண furious, பஞ்சவக்த்ரேண போகிநா five-hooded serpent, கஃ who, க்ரீடதி sported.
"You are of timid nature. Who has scratched your breasts with the tip of the nail? Who is sporting with an enraged five-hooded serpent"?
நிரீக்ஷமாணஸ்ஸஹஸா வாயஸஂ ஸமவைக்ஷதாஃ.

நிரீக்ஷமாணஃ seeing all over, ஸருதிரைஃ with blood, தீக்ஷ்ணைஃ sharp, நகைஃ nails, தாமேவ of her, அபிமுகம் in front of, ஸ்திதம் stood, வாயஸம் crow, ஸஹஸா at once, ஸமவைக்ஷதாஃ glanced.
'Seeing all over, at once I glanced at the crow that stood in front of her with sharp blood-stained nails'.
ஸுதஃ கில ஸ ஷக்ரஸ்ய வாயஸஃ பததாஂ வரஃ.

பததாம் among birds, வரஃ foremost, ஸஃ வாயஸஃ that crow, ஷக்ரஸ்ய Indra's, புத்ரஃ son, கில moving about, தராந்தரகதஃ all over the earth, ஷீக்ரம் swiftly, கதௌ flying, பவநஸ்ய wind-god's speed, ஸமஃ equal.
'That crow, the foremost of the birds was the son of Indra moving about all over the earth swiftly. His speed matched the Wind-god's.
ததஸ்தஸ்மிந்மஹாபாஹோ கோபஸஂவர்திதேக்ஷணஃ.
வாயஸே த்வஂ கரிதாஃ க்ரூராஂ மதிஂ மதிமதாஂ வர৷৷5.67.11৷৷

மஹாபாஹோ long-armed one, மதிமதாம் very wise one, வர reverred, த்வம் you, கோபஸஂவர்திதேக்ஷணஃ anguished, ததஃ then, தஸ்மிந் its, வாயஸே the crow's, க்ரூராம் cruel, மதிம் in your mind, கரிதாஃ decision took.
'O long-armed, wise and revered Rama, then in anguish you took a cruel decision'.
ஸ தர்பஂ ஸஂஸ்தராத்கரிஹ்ய ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்த்ரேண ஹ்யயோஜயஃ.

ஸஃ he, ஸஂஸ்தராத் from your mat, தர்பம் a blade of grass, கரிஹ்ய took out, ப்ராஹ்மேண அஸ்த்ரேண by the mantra of the weapon of Brahma, யோஜயத் chanted, ஸஃ he, தீப்தஃ blazed, காலாக்நிரிவ like the fire of the demon's day, த்விஜம் bird, அபிமுகஃ towards the direction, ஜஜ்வால hurled.
'You took out a blade of grass from your mat and chanted the mantra to invoke the weapon of Brahma (Brahmastra) and hurled it on the crow. It blazed like the fire of the doom's day.
க்ஷிப்தவாஂஸ்த்வஂ ப்ரதீப்தஂ ஹி தர்பஂ தஂ வாயஸஂ ப்ரதி.

த்வம் yourself, ப்ரதீப்தம் blazing, தஂ தர்பம் that blade of grass, வாயஸஂ ப்ரதி over the crow, க்ஷிப்தவாந் burning, ததஃ then, ஸஃ தர்பஃ that blade of grass, தீப்தஃ glowing like fire, வாயஸம் to
the crow, அநுஜகாம ஹ chased.
'You hurled the blazing blade of grass on to the crow. That burning blade of grass chased the crow.
ஸ பித்ரா ச பரித்யக்தஸ்ஸுரைஷ்ச ஸமஹர்ஷிபிஃ.
த்ரீந் லோகாந் ஸம்பரிக்ரம்ய த்ராதாரஂ நாதிகச்சதி৷৷5.67.14৷৷

ஸஃ he, பித்ரா ச by the father, ஸமஹர்ஷிபிஃ even the great sages, ஸுரைஷ்ச and gods, பரித்யக்தஃ abandoned, த்ரீந் three, லோகாந் worlds, ஸம்பரிக்ரம்ய went round also, த்ராதாரம் saviour, நாதிகச்சதி was not found.
'He was abandoned by his father, even by great sages and gods. Then he went round the three worlds but could not find a saviour.
புநரேவாகதஸ்த்ரஸ்தஸ்த்வத்ஸகாஷமரிஂதம.
ஸ தஂ நிபதிதஂ பூமௌ ஷரண்யஷ்ஷரணாகதம்৷৷5.67.15৷৷
வதார்ஹமபி காகுத்ஸ்த கரிபயா பர்யபாலயஃ.
ஸ தஂ நிபதிதஂ பூமௌ ஷரண்யஷ்ஷரணாகதம்৷৷5.67.15৷৷
வதார்ஹமபி காகுத்ஸ்த கரிபயா பர்யபாலயஃ.
அரிந்தம destroyer of enemies, த்ரஸ்தஃ trembling, புநரேவ again, த்வத்ஸகாஷம் that crow, ஆகதஃ came back, ஷரண்யஃ for protection, ஸஃ காகுத்ஸ்த: to Rama, ஷரணாகதம் seeking protection, பூமௌ on earth, நிபதிதம் fell down, தம் him, வாதர்ஹமபி that which deserved to be slayed, கரிபயா in compassion, பர்யபாலய: saved.
'O destroyer of enemies! the crow came back again to you trembling seeking protection from you and fell on the ground. Even though it deserved to be slayed, you saved him out of compassion.
மோகமஸ்த்ரஂ ந ஷக்யஂ து கர்துமித்யேவ ராகவ৷৷5.67.16৷৷
பவாஂஸ்தஸ்யாக்ஷி காகஸ்ய ஹிநஸ்தி ஸ்ம ஸ தக்ஷிணம்.
பவாஂஸ்தஸ்யாக்ஷி காகஸ்ய ஹிநஸ்தி ஸ்ம ஸ தக்ஷிணம்.
ராகவ Rama, அஸ்த்ரம் weapon, மோகம் divine one, கர்தும் to withdraw, ந ஷக்யம் not possible, இத்யேவ therefore, பவாந் you, தஸ்ய காகஸ்ய that crow, தக்ஷிணம் அக்ஷி right eye, ஹிநஸ்தி ஸ்ம struck.
'O Rama! since a divine weapon cannot be withdrawn, it did strike his right eye'.
ராம த்வாஂ ஸ நமஸ்கரித்ய ராஜ்ஞே தஷரதாய ச৷৷5.67.17৷৷
விஸரிஷ்டஸ்து ததா காக ப்ரதிபேதே ஸ்வமாலயம்.
விஸரிஷ்டஸ்து ததா காக ப்ரதிபேதே ஸ்வமாலயம்.
ராம Rama, ததா thereafter, ஸஃ காகஃ that crow, விஸரிஷ்டஃ having left it without killing, த்வாம் him, ராஜ்ஞே to king, தஷரதாய ச Dasaratha, நமஸ்கரித்ய offered salutations, ஸ்வம் to you, ஆலயம் his abode, ப்ரதிபேதே returned.
'Thereafter that crow left without killing offered salutations to you and king Dasaratha and returned to his abode.
ஏவமஸ்த்ரவிதாஂ ஷ்ரேஷ்டஸ்ஸத்த்வவாந் ஷீலவாநபி৷৷5.67.18৷৷
கிமர்தமஸ்த்ரஂ ரக்ஷஸ்ஸு ந யோஜயதி ராகவஃ.
கிமர்தமஸ்த்ரஂ ரக்ஷஸ்ஸு ந யோஜயதி ராகவஃ.
ஷீலவாநபி of good conduct, ராகவ Rama, ஏவம் that way, அஸ்த்ரவிதாம் among wielders of weapons, ஷ்ரேஷ்டஃ foremost, ஸத்யவாந் truthful, பலவாநபி powerful, ரக்ஷஸ்ஸு on demons, அஸ்த்ரம் weapons, கிமர்தம் for what reason, ந யோஜயதி not directing.
'You are efficient, foremost among wielders of weapons, truthful and powerful. Why are you not directing weapons against the demons?
ந நாகா நாபி கந்தர்வா நாஸுரா ந மருத்கணாஃ৷৷5.67.19৷৷
ந ச ஸர்வே ரணே ஷக்தா ராமஂ ப்ரதிஸமாஸிதும்.
ந ச ஸர்வே ரணே ஷக்தா ராமஂ ப்ரதிஸமாஸிதும்.
ரணே in war, ராமஂ ப்ரதி to face Rama, ப்ரதிஸமாஸிதும் to stand in front of you, நாகாஃ nagas, ந ஷக்தாஃ not possible, கந்தர்வாஃ அபி even gandharvas, ந அஸுராஃ not even asuras, ந not, மருத்கணாஃ Marutas, ந not, ஸர்வே all, ந not possible.
'It is not possible for nagas, gandharvas, even asuras or Marutas to confront Rama in war.
தஸ்ய வீர்யவதஃ கஷ்சித்யத்யஸ்தி மயி ஸம்ப்ரமஃ৷৷5.67.20৷৷
க்ஷிப்ரஂ ஸுநிஷிதைர்பாணைர்ஹந்யதாஂ யுதி ராவணஃ.
க்ஷிப்ரஂ ஸுநிஷிதைர்பாணைர்ஹந்யதாஂ யுதி ராவணஃ.
வீர்யவதஃ very valiant one, தஸ்ய his, மயி my, ஸம்ப்ரமஃ anxiety, அஸ்தி யதி if he has, ஸுநிஷிதைஃ sharp, பாணைஃ arrows, ராவணஃ Ravana, க்ஷிப்ரம் immediately, யுதி in battle, ஹந்யதாம் will slay.
'If you have any anxiety about me, you will certainly slay Ravana in the battle immediately with your sharp arrows'.
ப்ராதுராதேஷமாஜ்ஞாய லக்ஷ்மணோ வா பரந்தபஃ৷৷5.67.21৷৷
ஸ கிமர்தஂ நரவரோ ந மாஂ ரக்ஷதி ராகவஃ.
ஸ கிமர்தஂ நரவரோ ந மாஂ ரக்ஷதி ராகவஃ.
பரந்தபஃ scorcher of enemies, நரவரஃ best of men, ராகவஃ Rama, ஸஃ லக்ஷ்மணோ வா or even Lakshmana, ப்ராதுஃ brother's, ஆதேஷம் instruction, ஆஜ்ஞாய getting, மாம் me, கிமர்தம் for what reason, ந ரக்ஷதி not protecting me.
'For what reason is the the scorcher of enemies, Lakshmana, the best of men also does not protect me at the behest of Rama, his brother?
ஷக்தௌ தௌ புருஷவ்யாக்ரௌ வாய்வக்நிஸமதேஜஸௌ ৷৷5.67.22৷৷
ஸுராணாமபி துர்தர்ஷௌ கிமர்தஂ மாமுபேக்ஷதஃ.
ஸுராணாமபி துர்தர்ஷௌ கிமர்தஂ மாமுபேக்ஷதஃ.
ஷக்தௌ in power, வாய்வக்நிஸமதேஜஸௌ equal to wind and fire, புருஷவ்யாக்ரௌ tigers among men, தௌ they both, ஸுராணாம் suras, துர்தர்ஷௌ யதி அபி being even unassailable, மாம் me, கிமர்தம் why, உபேக்ஷதஃ neglecting.
'Why are the two tigers among men whose power is like that of wind and fire and who are unassailable even to suras are neglecting me?
மமைவ துஷ்கரிதஂ கிஞ்சிந்மஹதஸ்தி ந ஸஂஷயஃ৷৷5.67.23৷৷
ஸமர்தௌ ஸஹிதௌ யந்மாஂ நாவேக்ஷேதே பரந்தபௌ.
ஸமர்தௌ ஸஹிதௌ யந்மாஂ நாவேக்ஷேதே பரந்தபௌ.
மமைவ have I, மஹத் great, கிஞ்சித் any, துஷ்கரிதம் sin, அஸ்தி done, ஸஂஷயஃ doubt, ந no, யத் that which, ஸமர்தாவபி even though capable, பரந்தபௌ the scorchers of enemies, தௌ they both, மாம் my, ந அவேக்ஷேதே not doing so.
'Have I done any great sin because of which even though both the scorchers of enemies are capable, they are not doing so?'
வைதேஹ்யா வசநஂ ஷ்ருத்வா கருணஂ ஸாஷ்ரு பாஷிதம்.

கருணம் piteous, ஸாஷ்ருபாஷிதம் those good words, வைதேஹ்யாஃ of Vaidehi, வசநம் words, ஷ்ருத்வா on hearing, அஹம் I, புநரபி once again, தாம் ஆர்யாம் her the noble one, இதம் these, வசநம் words, அப்ரவம் said.
"On hearing Vaidehi's piteous words, I once again said this to the noble lady:
த்வச்சோகவிமுகோ ராமோ தேவி ஸத்யேந தே ஷபே৷৷5.67.25৷৷
ராமே துஃகாபிபூதே து லக்ஷ்மணஃ பரிதப்யதே.
ராமே துஃகாபிபூதே து லக்ஷ்மணஃ பரிதப்யதே.
தேவி O divine lady, ராமஃ Rama, த்வச்சோகவிமுகஃ out of grief not interested in any thing, ஸத்யேந truly, தே to you, ஷபே swear, ராமே Rama, துஃகாபிபந்நே filled with sorrow, லக்ஷ்மணஃ ச and Lakshmana, பரிதப்யதே deeply afflicted.
'O divine lady! I swear to you on my truthfulness, that out of grief for you Rama is not interested in anything else and Lakshmana is deeply afflicted because Rama is overhelmed with grief.
கதஞ்சித்பவதீ தரிஷ்டா ந காலஃ பரிஷோசிதும்৷৷5.67.26৷৷
அஸ்மிந்முஹூர்தே துஃகாநாமந்தஂ த்ரக்ஷ்யஸி பாமிநி.
அஸ்மிந்முஹூர்தே துஃகாநாமந்தஂ த்ரக்ஷ்யஸி பாமிநி.
பாமிநி O lovely lady!, கதஞ்சித் somehow, பவதீ you, தரிஷ்டா saw, பரிதேவிதும் for lamentation, காலஃ time, ந not, இமம் this, முஹூர்தம் moment, துஃகாநாம் grief, அந்தம் end, த்ரக்ஷ்யஸி will see.
'O lovely lady! somehow I could discover you. This is not the moment for lamentation.Your grief will end.
தாவுபௌ நரஷார்தூலௌ ராஜபுத்ராவநிந்திதௌ৷৷5.67.27৷৷
த்வத்தர்ஷநகரிதோத்ஸாஹௌ லங்காஂ பஸ்மீகரிஷ்யதஃ.

நரஷார்தூலௌ tigers among men, அநிந்திதௌ blameless, மஹாபலௌ mighty, த்வத்தர்ஷநகரிதோத்ஸாஹௌ eager to see you, உபௌ both, தௌ ராஜபுத்ரௌ the two princes, லங்காம் to Lanka, பஸ்மீகரிஷ்யதஃ will reduce to ashes.
'The two princes, tigers among men are blameles. They are anxious to see you. They will reduce this Lanka into ashes.
ஹத்வா ச ஸமரே ரௌத்ரஂ ராவணஂ ஸஹ பாந்தவம்৷৷5.67.28৷৷
ராகவஸ்த்வாஂ வராரோஹே ஸ்வாஂ புரீஂ நயதே த்ருவம்.
ராகவஸ்த்வாஂ வராரோஹே ஸ்வாஂ புரீஂ நயதே த்ருவம்.
வராரோஹே fair-hipped lady, ராகவஃ Rama, ரௌத்ரம் fearsome, ஸஹபாந்தவம் and his ralatives, ராவணம் Ravana, ஸமரே in war, ஹத்வா ச and slay, த்வாம் you, ஸ்வாஂ புரீம் his city, நயதே take you, த்ருவம் certain.
'O fair-hipped lady! Rama will slay fearsome Ravana and all his relatives and take you to his city. It is certain.
யத்து ராமோ விஜாநீயாதபிஜ்ஞாநமநிந்திதே৷৷5.67.29৷৷
ப்ரீதிஸஞ்ஜநநஂ தஸ்ய ப்ரதாதுஂ த்வமிஹார்ஹஸி.
ப்ரீதிஸஞ்ஜநநஂ தஸ்ய ப்ரதாதுஂ த்வமிஹார்ஹஸி.
அநிந்திதே O blameless one!, ராமஃ Rama, யத் that which, விஜாநீயாத் he knows, தஸ்ய its, ப்ரீதிஸஞ்ஜநநம் that which gives happiness, அபிஜ்ஞாநம் knowing, இஹ here, தாதும் to give, த்வம் you, அர்ஹஸி is proper for you.
'O blameless lady! you should give me that which he would be glad to recognise as a token.'

முக்த்வா வஸ்த்ராத்ததௌ மஹ்யஂ மணிமேதஂ மஹாபல.

மஹாபல mighty Rama, ஸா she, ஸர்வாஃ all, திஷஃ directions, அபிவீக்ஷ்ய glancing at, வேண்யுத்க்ரதிதம் that which is worn on her hair, உத்தமம் best one, ஏதஂ மணிம் this gem, வஸ்த்ராத் from her cloth, முக்த்வா untied, மஹ்யம் to me, ததௌ gave.
"O mighty Rama!, she glanced at all directions and untied the end of her garment in which she had this best jewel worn on her hair preserved and gave it to me.

"O foremost among the Raghus! I took that wonderful gem for your sake from the noble lady and offered her salutations, bowing my head, and returned quickly৷৷

வரவர்ணிநீ of fine complexion, ஜநகாத்மஜா Janaka's daughter, கமநே to start, கரிதோத்ஸாஹம் with
eagerness, விவர்தமாநஂ ச increasing, மாம் me, ஆவேக்ஷ்ய seeing, உவாச spoke.
"Seeing me eager to depart and growing in size, the loving daughter of Janaka said.

மமோத்பதநஸம்ப்ராந்தா ஷோகவேகஸமாஹதா.

அஷ்ருபூர்ணமுகீ face filled with tears, தீநா dejected, பாஷ்பஸந்திக்தபாஷிணீ throat choked with tears, மம me, உத்பதநஸம்ப்ராந்தா despondent at my departue, ஷோகவேகஸமாஹதா shedding tears profusely.
"She was dejected. Her face was filled with tears. Despondent at my departure, she shed tears profusely and said:
ஹநுமந் ஸிஂஹஸஂகாஷாவுபௌ தௌ ராமலக்ஷ்மணௌ৷৷5.67.34৷৷
ஸுக்ரீவஞ்ச ஸஹாமாத்யஂ ஸர்வாந் ப்ரூயா ஹ்யநாமயம்.

ஹநுமந் Hanuman, ஸிஂஹஸஂகாஷௌ resembling lion, தௌ ராமலக்ஷ்மணௌ both Rama and Lakshmana, உபௌ both, ஸஹாமாத்யம் and his ministers, ஸுக்ரீவஞ்ச and to Sugriva, ஸர்வாந் to all, அநாமயம் my welfare, ப்ரூயாஃ tell.
'Hanuman! tell both Rama and Lakshman who are like two lions, Sugriva and his ministers about my welfare.
யதா ச ஸ மஹாபாஹுர்மாஂ தாரயதி ராகவஃ.
அஸ்மாத்துஃகாம்புஸஂரோதாத்த்வஂ ஸமாதாதுமர்ஹஸி৷৷5.67.35৷৷

மஹாபாஹுஃ strong-armed one, ஸஃ ராகவஃ that Rama, அஸ்மாத் from this, துஃகாம்புஸஂரோதாத் ocean of sorrow, யதா that way, தாரயதி to relieve, த்வம் you, ஸமாதாதும் make arangements, அர்ஹஸி is right.
'You may go and tell mighty Rama to make arrangements to relieve me from this
ocean of sorrow.

'O foremost among the heroic monkeys! approaching Rama, you should tell him the intensity of my sorrow and the threatening of the she-demons. Let your journey be speedy and auspicious.'
